10 Spots to Sip a Perfectly-Crafted Old Fashioned Outside the Atlanta Perimeter | Eater

"The Fountain is a stylish locale — just look at those wood beams and button-tiled bar — located in historic downtown Acworth. During Old Fashioned Week, you can choose your own adventure with your choice of the classic Fountain Old Fashioned, made with Elijah Craig Small Batch, citrus-infused demerara syrup, and Angostura and Peychaud’s Bitters, or the Café Old Fashioned with Elijah Craig Small Batch, coffee syrup made with locally-roasted Ethiopian beans, and orange cream bitters. Enjoy whichever one you choose alongside bar bites like the chimichurri pork loin with veggies." - Vox Creative

Everything about my brunch at The Fountain Room was enjoyable. From the moment you walk in, the décor and the incredible smell of goodness draw you in. The Christmas decorations were a beautiful added touch and made the space feel especially warm and inviting. The coffee and hot chocolate were delicious, and the “oh my goodness” cinnamon rolls served piping hot in an iron skillet were absolutely scrumptious. We took our time, wanting to truly savor the experience. We shared the beets and peach salad, which was fresh and flavorful. I devoured the shrimp and grits, prepared without the hot link sausage since I don’t eat pork or beef, and they were outstanding. My sister couldn’t stop raving about the brisket hash. Between the atmosphere, the attentive service, and the incredible food, this experience was a full win. Five stars, hands down.

Google
The service was impeccable and the atmosphere was just right as well! I had the French dip and it was the best French dip I've had in my life. My date had the sea bass and she thought it was delicious. My friend had the ribeye and said it was one of the best he'd ever had, but a couple of the people at our table had the filet and they weren't that impressed. I'm not a big fan of a filet cut in general, so I can't chime in one way or the other. I do think the ribeye looked delicious, so I would try that if I came back.

Google
My husband and I had a lovely dinner here yesterday. Meg, the staff and the manager are very helpful and hospitable throughout our visit chatting with us about the food and making sure that the dinner was going well. Everything was cooked with care and tasted amazing. You can also tell how delicious it was when my husband who famously does not like fish said that for the first time in his life he enjoyed trying my salmon. It was not enough to have him swap it with his steak which he said was one of the best he had ever tasted as well. With artful decor and warm atmosphere this is the perfect place for a date night. Definitely check the menu before you go to see what dishes you would like to try but everything we had was absolutely scrumptious!

We came to the Fountain Room to celebrate my husband’s birthday, and our first visit truly lived up to all the great things we’ve heard. We loved our meals—the shrimp and grits, French toast, bacon, and potatoes were delicious—and both the Carajillo and Peach Bellini were outstanding. Portions were generous, and the pricing was surprisingly reasonable for the quality. A special shoutout to our server, Meg! She was warm, attentive, answered all of our questions, and shared great recommendations. We hope to have her again for dinner on our next visit!

Google
We couldn’t be happier with our experience at The Fountain Room! Meg took amazing care of us all evening and had great recommendations every step of the way. The service and food were both outstanding… and oh my, I’ve never had better Brussels sprouts!

It was our first time experiencing this restaurant of which we travel quite often and eat out a lot!! We were beyond impressed by the service atmosphere and quality of the food!!!! Thank you for providing extraordinary service to our party of (6) prior to our candlelight concert, we will be back!!! Beth-KY

Google
We stopped here for breakfast while waiting on our air b n b to open. Was a great place to eat. Food and drinks were equally amazing. Our server was very nice as well. They allowed us to sit our suitcases at the front while we eat which was also great. Would recommend eating at for those in the area.

Google
Enjoyed brunch over the holiday weekend at The Fountain Room! We had dined in for dinner a couple of years ago but this was our first time trying brunch. Highly recommend the brisket hash, it was unique and delicious! We arrived at 1030 on a Sunday and got sat right away. Service was great and atmosphere was nice and quiet. Will definitely be back!

Yelp
First time at The Fountain Room, but it will not be my last. Great atmosphere. Love the decor. Food was great, too. Not to be missed was the brie brulee. Our server was Zac, and he was outstanding. One of the best waiters I've experienced in a long time.

Yelp
Fountain Room is spacious, clean, nicely decorated, and well-suited for a wide variety of winter occasions. I ordered the Brisket Hash for myself and found it to be straightforward but delicious and of good value. We shared the Brie Brûlée which definitely lived up to the hype. I also had an espresso and Peach Bellini (both of which were refreshing in different ways). Service was fantastic (our servers were especially helpful going over the different menu options) and ran smoothly for our group of 6.

Yelp
This spot was really beautiful and it felt super special. We made a reservation without any issue several days before visiting Indy, I'm happy we got to experience this spot! We were sat upstairs and our server was great. We love to share, so we got the strip steak, burger, and Mac n cheese to split. The Mac and cheese was my favorite part of the meal! It was so creamy and cheesy, and definitely enhanced our experience. The steak was cooked how was asked (medium) and the burger was pretty delicious. We ordered drinks as well. I got a dirty martini and would recommend asking for extra dirty if that's your jam. It was on the lighter side with the olive brine. It's a great spot- check it out!

Yelp
The Fountain Room in Indianapolis is one of my all-time favorite restaurants and honestly a big reason I get excited to come home. The whole space is built like the art-deco library of your dreams. There's so much to look at, all done in pristine taste. Service was good -- nothing standout -- but that's mostly because the food completely steals the show. There wasn't a single dish I didn't enjoy. The brie with cranberry is something I actively hunt for in the South. It's drizzled with a little heat, topped with crushed pistachios... unreal. We split a Caesar and the mac and cheese and have zero regrets almost a year later. Still thinking about both. If you're in Indy, this place is a must.

Yelp
Great happy hour spot!! Everything about this spot was awesome! The service was great, there were only 30ish minutes left for happy hour and they were so nice to accommodate us even during the short period of time. The decor was beautiful; I couldn't stop looking at all the details around. We ordered a draft beer and a house wine with the petite shrimp cocktail to pair it with. I almost wished we didn't have dinner plans after so that we could have ordered more. After giving this a try for happy hour, I am sure everything else they have is very good! Looking forward to trying the sliders and the truffle fries at the next happy hour!

Yelp
First time here after having wanting to come for a long time. Made a reservation and got sat at maybe the worst table in the place, so we moved to the bar. Service at the bar was friendly without being overbearing. Drinks were well balanced. We got there in time for the end of happy hour which was nice. Good was decent. Shrimp cocktail was as expected, as were the truffle fries. Onion soup a was excellent. Wedge salad was good. The vibes are good.

Yelp
Aug, Saturday at 12:30pm - Brunch Decor and Ambiance: 5/5 - This is a really cool place with a high-end feel. The decor is stunning, with lots of light stained wood and plenty of natural light, creating a warm, inviting atmosphere. One cool note, they told me the ambient music was being played on a vintage reel-to-reel table player, which was visible behind the counter at the receptionists desk. Cool feature! Cappuccino: 5/5 - The cappuccino was excellent! Great presentation and a delicious taste. Get one. Cinnamon Roll Starter: 3/5 - The cinnamon roll starter had beautiful presentation, complete with a lovely flower on top. Unfortunately, the rolls were overdone-to-burnt, giving them a strong burnt flavor. The creamy sauce that came with it was fantastic! But we ended up leaving one of the rolls uneaten. The Fountain Room Spread: 3/5 - This dish had an okay presentation. It came with toast, but no jelly, which might be fine if you enjoy sopping up yolk from over-easy eggs. I ordered over-medium eggs, but over easy eggs arrived. When I mentioned this, they brought new batch that was much better. The potatoes were ok, but may have suffered from siting on a steamer pan or heat lamp too long. I ended up leaving most of them. The bacon was also pretty done, but I ate it on principle lol Overall my initial plate seemed to struggle to hit the mark regarding doneness, with under cooked initial eggs and overcooked potatoes and cinnamon rolls. Chicken and Waffles: 5/5 - This dish was excellent! The presentation was on point, and the spice level was mild but perfect--smooth and just the right amount of heat without being overwhelming. The portion size was generous, so be prepared to take some home! Staff: 5/5 - The staff here is incredibly friendly and helpful. When I mentioned my eggs and rolls, they brought me a new order of eggs and even took 50% off the rolls, she also comped the cappuccino. We didn't ask for any of that, which made the service feel even more exceptional. Accessibility: 4.5/5 - The restrooms are well decorated and accessible, but note the upstairs seating/event space doesn't have HC access. Additionally, the main entry and restroom doors do not have a power-open feature that I saw. That said, the restrooms themselves are spacious, clean, and functional, with a low urinal option and appropriate grab bars in both the men's and women's restrooms. 30.5/35 = 4.3 which rounds to 4 stars. Apologies, I was there with a very pretty lady so I totally forgot to get a pic of the menu.

Yelp
This meal was superb! What an exceptional choice for our only night in Indy. We came in 45 minutes until close on a Monday and they were super welcoming and hospitable. They sat us in the beautiful boot with decorated shelves. The wine and cocktail selection was extensive. The fountain room old fashioned was soooo good. I loved the Bordeaux blanc as well. The lobster bisque was decadent and had lots of lobster in it. Wish there were more croutons as they were the best. The duck confit pasta was hands down one of the best pastas I've ever had. Perfectly flavored and I loved the shredded manchego and crispy duck skin on top. The hanger steak was cooked perfectly and absolutely delicious. We were sad we were too full to order dessert as I'm sure they are amazing. The server was so nice and attentive. Excellent experience and probably our favorite restaurant in Indy now! We will have to make sure to return.

Yelp
So I reviewed the fountain room on both Google and yelp. No response on yelp and the following response on Google from the Fountain Room. "Response from the owner 2 days ago Thank you for sharing your experience. We understand your disappointment with the prime rib quality and drink description. Your feedback helps us improve." I seriously, doubt they understand my disappointment. I'm more aggravated by the lack of an apology for even serving it. Based on their response, I doubt that I'll ever go back or recommend them. Just a simple apology I'm sorry and I hope that you will try us again and let us show you That's not our standard would have been a much better response and probably gotten me to come back. Whoever they have responded, needs some better people skills.

Yelp
On a date with hubby, as we were in town for the motocross of nation. It was our first time in Indianapolis. We searched for a dinner venue on Yelp. Flipping through the list this restaurant caught my eye. And so it shall be. We arrived without a reservation and found two spots at the bar. We had two amazing Monkey Shoulder old fashions which left us wanting more. The crab cakes on thinly sliced fennel salad, flavourful and with quite a kick, the potatoe casserole delicious and the lobster bisque I highly recommend, although it could have been hotter. The service was attentive and by sitting at the bar we also made friends. Check out the photos.

Yelp
The food: average to great. The Brie Brule was the standout and was amazing! The Brule'd part on the top gave it a crunch and sweetness that was unexpected and wonderful. The green beans were also a very unexpected high point of the meal. The burger was a solidly average burger. Unfortunately, I do not like seafood so I didn't try the lobster & crab dip or the crab cake but others in my group seemed to like them. The drinks: the strawberry margarita was great, although they were out of the garnish. We were told it was very cute but I'll never know. The service: it was just okay, I would have ordered a second drink but our waitress didn't come back for so long we were done by the time she came back so I didn't order a second. Not really what I would expect from a restaurant priced the way The Fountain Room is. The atmosphere: relaxed, retro vibe. We sat in the bar and it was nice.

Yelp
We came here after Wicked and they were playing Wizard of Oz to keep the vibe going! This place is so classy and beautiful with 1920-30s decor. The service was great but the food was such high quality we were astonished. Some of the best Mac and cheese in the city (yes I will say it!! And I get Mac and cheese at every restaurant!), super creamy! The crab cakes were fluffy and tons of ingredients. Cornbread came out as an entire loaf: perfect for take home or to share with the table. My boyfriend loved the Prime Rib French Dip - melt in your mouth with perfect crispy bread to dip in the a jus!! We love this restaurant - it's so worth the money. Great place to impress a date or bring someone from out of town.

Yelp
10/10 for brunch!! Service was friendly and knowledgeable. The decor, lighting and seating make for such a comfortable experience. The food was excellent too.

WOW. This place is gorgeous. The food here was so good and service was amazing. The duck pasta was to die for. Highly recommend.

Yelp
... An extra star is worth how I felt being there and why it has made itself into my top 5 favorite spots. Maybe it was just what I needed in that moment, so everything hit just right but does there need to be a reason to happy? It's located on Mass Ave, off to the left, as you are walking towards the garage. I love the decor. It's dark but full of Amber lighting and colors. It's retro and vintage. It had me at hello as soon as I walked in. We were greeted & got a seat immediately on Saturday afternoon which was wonderful! The hostess was personable, helpful and very friendly, also wonderful. We didn't know we could get hot towels at request so we took advantage of that and it really made me feel like I was treating myself! I loved that it came with lemon for a fresh clean feel and scent. Definitely get it! The food... I got the wagyu burger and whoa was it tasty. It was very tender & lightly seasoned. It would have been even better if it had a chargrilled taste but still was juicy and the compliment of the bacon and jam... it was good. It came w/ fries but I opted for garlic truffle fries and this was the only place where the garlic was not overpowering. The French toast is loaded with all the fruit's & caramel. Which was surprising but all the fruit went perfectly. I didn't stop there, I ordered chocolate cake to go that comes with coffee ice cream but it melted before I could eat it but the cake was great too! It came with gold flakes and popcorn. It was not heavy, it was smooth and delicious. I'm probably going to be here every other Sunday lol Please go try them for yourself!

Yelp
My friends and I decided to come in here for a birthday party and we're not disappointed! We got sat by the friendly staff very quickly and once sat were greeted by an even more lovely waitress. She took our drink and food orders and we ordered some breads and the crab cakes to start. Both were good but not great. Then we ordered our meals. Burgers, pasta, chicken, etc. The Wagyu burger was amazing! Would highly recommend. The pasta and chicken were also on point. Overall what brought this to a 5 star was the awesome ambience of the restaurant. It felt fancy and welcoming at the same time. We will be back for sure

Yelp
The restaurant is very beautiful and well decorated on the inside! I really loved the aesthetic of the place. The service was great, and our waitress was very attentive. The food was okay. I had the brisket hash. It was good, but overall was kind of dry. I asked for a garlic aioli to go on the potatoes, and it made them better. The waffle was also dry even though I slathered it in butter and syrup. The batter was very dense, so it didn't absorb the butter and syrup very well.

Yelp
This is our second visit to The Fountain Room. The restaurant is beautifully decorated inside and perfect for a date night. The meal and drinks never disappoint. We enjoyed the hanger steak and chicken. Service is always friendly and attentive.

Yelp
I highly recommend arriving here early if you are coming on a weekend, as parking gets a little tight. It took me about 15 minutes to find parking. I ended up parking in the very nice garage a few doors down from the place. If you are lucky , you can get one of the metered street parking spots. There are also a few commercial lots available as well. I came here for our anniversary and they made it very special. The hostess acknowledged our anniversary, as well as our server, who gave us a card that was signed by the entire staff. The place has dining room seating available on two levels and a very nice bar on the first level. You definitely feel fancy when you come to this place. The staff here were amazing. They were very friendly, attentive and helpful. This place has a very extensive wine, and spirts menu. They have a few signature cocktails as well. I got some of their sangria and it was so good. I got an order of their oysters. I will admit, they were small. They also did not come with the little oyster forks. The oysters were still good though and would recommend them. For my main course, I got the horseradish encrusted ribeye steak and we shared an order of the truffle fries. It took only about 10 minutes to have our food prepared and it was fresh and hot. My steak was cooked to perfection and was packed with flavor. It was amazing. I highly recommend it. The fries were pretty good too, but I was full and was not able to finish them. My experience here was amazing and well worth the 15 minutes it took me to find a parking spot. The staff is awesome, the service is astounding and the food is amazing. I am wondering why I have not heard about this place sooner. Well anyway, I will definitely be back soon.

Yelp
Great service & fun environment. Ordered the special (peppercorn NY Strip) which was cooked perfectly but was served lukewarm. Brussel sprouts & Brie Brûlée dishes were delicious.

Yelp
The Fountain Room brings all the vibes to the Bottle Works District on Mass Ave. This upscale American Fare restaurant brings all the southern comfort food to the city with a twist. The lighting is moody and the dimness makes it feel so romantic and cozy. We love to sit at the Bar. The Service is wonderful and the Bar tenders not only make great cocktails always seem to have the inside scoop on things. We went for Devoue but ended up getting something off their regular menu, I was craving a big Ole salad and it did not disappoint. We started with the Cornbread 9/10. It was missing just a little salt the honey butter added good sweetness to the moist delicate corn cake loaf. Ceasar Salad sub Ranch +Chicken 10/10 Perfection. The salad is $12 + $5 for protein and it was the perfect serving size. The greens were crisp and fresh and the REAL PARM SHAVINGs yes, o did I mention it has cornbread croutons?!?!?! Meatloaf with MASH & Broccolini 10/10 The do their meatloaf with Gravy and it's absolutely decadent and delicious. I got a NA Wine and Hunny bunny had a few cocktails all 10/10 their bar program is fantastic.
google avatar

Rachel S.

Yelp
The Fountain Room is still as good as ever! It had been two years since our last visit, but we returned to take advantage of their three course Devour menu. We enjoyed their French Onion Soup, Chopped Salad, Salmon, 7 oz. Petite Filet, and the Brownie and Cheesecake for dessert. The meal was the best I've had in a long time and that steak was perfectly cooked, buttery, and tender. I'm not normally a big steak person but this was absolutely delicious. Service was great and full of nice high-end touches like fresh lemons and limes as well as a choice of sparking or still water. If you're in the Bottleworks District, The Fountain Room is the way to go for your dinner!

Yelp
We couldn't wait until Christmas so we took a great couple with us to enjoy the Fountain Room. We made a Saturday late afternoon reservation (4:15). We arrive a little early, 3:55 and our table was already set up and waiting for us so we began our evening early. We had our normal Brie Brûlée and Relish Tray for starters. You can't beat the Brie, bread sticks and Brûlée dip to kick it off. Then all the relish tray items, from pickled peppers to honey comb toppings.... Exquisite We really changed your our choices this time, my wife and I split a Fried Chicken dinner which came with 4 split, boneless thighs lightly and crispy breading. Wow! They were so tender and perfect breading. We absolutely loved them Our friends selected a pork chop dinner and an order of Fish n Chips. They couldn't begin to eat the entirety of their meals but the take home's are perfect for the next days dinner! We enjoyed it all beyond measure. And once again, our server was fabulous, extremely patient and helpful in recommending our new dishes and in making sure we had zero down time between servings. Our friends loved the venue, the service, the food and so much fun. They agreed, one of the best stops I. Indy for a great night out, and being pampered and taken care of for the evening
google avatar

Tosha B.

Yelp
Well let's just say the ambiance was nice. That's all I can really honestly say. The food was not so good didn't have any flavor, or presentation. I ordered a filet with the crawfish topping but it came out and looked a little... let's just say not a good presentation of the sauce. The mashed potatoes looked and tasted like out the box potatoes. The drinks were ok but didn't have much of a bar menu. The service was definitely mediocre. I don't remember the servers name but it did feel like he didn't want to be there. It was not a good time for us.

Yelp
Wow! This place was amazing. We went to celebrate my wife's birthday. I made a reservation online and put in the notes that it was my wife's birthday and that i would like to end the meal with the dessert sampler. We arrived for an early dinner and ordered a couple appetizers. We had the focaccia bread and fried green beans. My wife absolutely loved the fried green beans and the dipping sauce that comes with them. We ordered our entrées. My wife ordered the prime rib, I ordered a 10 ounce fillet, and my daughter wanted the buttered noodles. We ordered a side of truffle fries, macaroni and cheese, and whipped potatoes. The side items are large and serve 2 to 3 people each so it was perfect for us. All of the food was absolutely delicious! Once we finished eating, the waitress mentioned the note from the reservation and asked if I wanted to keep that selection for dessert. I told her that i did and a few mins later, a huge platter with an assortment of sweets was delivered with candles for my wife to blow out. I did not have any of the dessert but my wife and daughter loved it. We even took some of it home. Our waitress was wonderful. She was very attentive and made sure the evening was special. We will be back, and i would recommend The Fountain Room to everyone looking for a delicious meal and wonderful service.

Yelp
Absolutely one of the best options for a business or group dinner in DT Indy on Mass Ave with amazing steaks, appetizers, and sides, coupled with a beautiful ambiance and fantastic service. Be sure to get the cornbread (perfectly sweet and fluffy paired with whipped butter) and brie brulee to start and either the steak (the ribeye is sublime) or roasted prime rib. Top off with a side of the roasted brussels sprouts with bacon and truffle fries with aioli. The food is delicious and the experience itself wonderfully executed. Definitely worth a visit!

Yelp
My husband and I had a fabulous experience at the Fountain room. We went there before the Taylor swift concert and I appreciated the cute cocktail menu. Our server was nice & quick, ensuring our food came out to our liking.

Yelp
We came for brunch. I have not gone to the Fountain Room for other meals as the menu for those doesn't appeal to me. But my goodness, the brunch! A+ all around, and I can't wait to do it again. The Fountain Room filled up pretty quickly by 11AM on a brunch Sunday, so you might prefer a reservation if you want a for-sure table. Appears to be the full cocktail/drink menu during brunch hours as well. PROS: -The Fountain Room is gorgeous. Honestly. It's just a visual treat in every corner as soon as you walk in the door. The morning light is so pretty streaming in the gigantic windows. The large, high-ceiling design and well-decorated walls give you a ton of things to look at. -Great portion size. I had the french toast, and I was very pleasantly full after we were finished here. A nice walk around Garage Hall afterwards was great for digesting all of that, but I wasn't so stuffed that walking sounded unappealing. My partner couldn't begin to finish his Brisket Hash with a ton of brisket in it. It easily would have been enough for take-home for another meal. -Both meals were also really delicious too. It's a lovely mix of flavors. My french toast had some sweetness, but it wasn't overwhelming. The french toast bake was done to perfection. -I love the brunch menu. I'm already excited to go back and try a different brunch meal, and I'm sad they only have brunch on weekends. -Service was fantastic. Not only do they check in about allergies and food sensitivities, but she also checked in regularly, brought any replenishments as requested, and was just generally really sweet. Fantastic, friendly service here. CONS: -I would have loved more biscuits in the biscuit flight. Four biscuits was okay, but as an appetizer, if it had been a table of four people, that's only one biscuit a person. That's so hard to portion out to try all of the dipping/sauces with just one biscuits. (Also, I love biscuits, so I'm biased.)

Yelp
We came in not too hungry but managed to make the perfect order for 2 people to split thanks to suggestions from our waitress who gave phenomenal service! We ended up getting the rib eye (one of the best steaks i've had in ages), chopped salad, and brie brûlée. The brie brûlée is as good as they say - so unique and surprisingly light. Felt a bit like having a perfect toast dessert since it's a sweet app. The salad was a good balance for the meat and carbs and wasn't too overdressed! We also got some themed Taylor Swift drinks since we were there for the Eras tour this weekend! We tried Our Song and Afterglow which were both delicious and came with little Taylor Swift themed drink markers we got to have for souvenirs! The restaurant itself is very nice and classy. It's also super large! At first we could only get a saturday res for 9pm but managed to move up to 8pm. Then we actually arrived closer to 7:30pm and they were able to seat us immediately! So just show up if you can't get the res you want!

Yelp
It's YE Gurl reporting from Indy! Brunchin' at The Fountain Room on 4/19 -- and let me tell you, it was a whole vibe! We grabbed a cozy bar table right in the heart of the hip new Bottleworks District -- yes, the one that's a fancy, artsy-fartsy reinvention of the old Coca-Cola manufacturing plant area. (Love a good "from vintage to vibey" transformation. ) Our server Megan R. was the real MVP! Not only did she keep the brunch flowin', but she also gave us the inside scoop on the whole area -- from the cool art installations to all the new-age shops you can wander into when you're feeling cute and caffeinated. Appreciate a server who doubles as your local tour guide. Here's what we ordered: Brie Brûlée - $18 (Rich, creamy, and honestly I could've made a meal out of this alone.) Shrimp & Grits - $24 (Savory and perfectly indulgent. I asked for the sausage to not be in the meal.) Avocado Toast - $16 (A brunch classic -- simple but satisfying.) Omelette - $16 (Fluffy and packed with cheese goodness.) Everything came out beautifully plated and we were so hungry forgot to take pics. Post-brunch feels? Happy, full, and plotting my next visit. The Fountain Room definitely brings that chic, "big city brunch" energy into Indy without trying too hard -- which we love. Bill total: Around what you'd expect for a trendy spot in a growing arts district -- not outrageous, but definitely "special brunch" pricing. (Worth it though, TBH.) Final verdict: Next time I'm bringing my walking shoes so I can hit the shops after stuffing my face or take an electric bike ride from the shop close by. Highly recommend if you're trying to catch a cute buzz and feel a little fancy on a Saturday.

Yelp
Absolutely incredible! From the professionalism of the hosts, gorgeous atmosphere and old-school server attention to detail, this place creates a dining experience that most just don't know how to offer anymore. The food was delicious and each dish we tried (please don't sleep on the cast iron cinnamon roll if you're there for brunch) was tastier than the last. Cocktails were divine and unique, something we just don't see enough of when in town. We'll be back every year!

Yelp
The good: great ambience, solid waitstaff. Our waitress was attentive and when we told her we weren't that thrilled w the burger, she comped it. The food wasn't worth the expensive price. Maybe it was a bad day but the food wasn't that good and it was a let down. We got the burger with fries -- fries were soggy and limp and the burger tasted like it was missing something. We asked for ketchup. The Burgers at Fat Dans and fries are better. Better yet if you're craving a solid burger at a fancy place I highly recommend Commission Row. They have a really good burger that's to die for and their fries are crispy. Caesar salad was ok. Nothing to rave about. The corn bread (not pictured) was ok. It was moist but it wasn't memorable. The Eagle has the best cornbread. The lobster bisque was salty, not much of a flavor profile. Again, try Commission Row for a really good lobster bisque that's delicious. Lastly their pickle tasted spoiled to me. I feel like everything we ordered was a miss and that's why I gave it a 2 star rating.

Yelp
This was our second visit to The Fountain Room, and it's just as lovely as we remembered. The beautifully decorated space makes it perfect for a date night. The food and drinks never disappoint we enjoyed the hanger steak and chicken. Service is always friendly and attentive.

Yelp
We went for a pre-movie drink and it was lovely. The space is very nice and the bartenders were kind and knowledgeable.

Yelp
We were visiting from out of town and it was our first time in Indy, and let me tell you it was some of the best food we have ever had. Daniel was our server and he walked us through the menu from start to finish, suggesting dishes that ended up being our favorites, especially the Brie Brûlée. The service was absolutely wonderful and I cannot recommend this spot enough.

Yelp
I love The Fountain Room. The ambiance, the staff, the drinks, and the food are all fabulous. I definitely think their brunch is better than lunch or dinner, but the lunch and dinner are still amazing. We just were not completely wowed. We are excited to work our way through the menu. The lobster and crab dip, though, is fantastic.

Yelp
Beautiful location with lots of vintage aesthetics. In the historic Coca-Cola district on Mass Ave., there are lots of foot traffic, bicycles, and pedestrians. However, it was quiet inside with jazzy music playing. They had a full, beautiful, vintage bar with exotic wine and cocktail menu. The service was exquisite, and the hostess was on point. The staff overall was well-trained and knowledgeable, which is a rarity in the most high-end establishments. We indulged in the Devour menu for a birthday celebration, and we were seated next to the window to people watch. It was a pleasant experience. The $60, three course menu I chose was the Lobster Bisque, Braised Pork, and Chocolate Brownie for dessert. It was edible as well as bountiful for the price. I left with two containers of food. The only nick in the experience was that the Bisque was overly salted.

Yelp
I have been waiting to come to The Fountain Room for a while now. Perhaps that was part of my issue, I had really built it up in my mind. I really wanted to love it. It was nice, but ... Probably a 3.5 but I've rounded up. Did the brunch and booked ahead via Open Table. Specifically said we were doing the brunch buffet in the reservation and had to put down a card to confirm. Ok. Got seated upstairs. Not ideal. Our server was extremely nice, but no plate was ever cleared. No coffee refill was ever offered. Regular coffee $8 btw. Buffet offerings were good, but... No sauces, butter, jelly, horseradish, etc. were available. No bacon in sight. Not a strawberry to be found. No green vegetable. Just felt limited. May need to try again but will def order off the menu next time.

Yelp
The restaurant is well designed and is in a good location. Unfortunately, the food and drinks were bad and expensive. The fountain room is beautifully decorated and has a lot of potential to be a nicer restaurant in Indy. The service was four stars, friendly, welcoming albeit a bit slow and didn't replace silverware between courses after removing it. The food quality was pretty bad. I ordered the salmon and it was extremely overcooked and dry. For me, this was completely unacceptable given they charged $40+ for this entree. The gnocchi garnish also was very dry and tasted like it was probably prepared hours earlier and left in a pot to keep warm all day. If I hadn't been in a large group I would have sent it back. The Caesar salad was good (not remarkable but not bad). Others in my group who ordered cocktails indicated they were 2-3 star caliber (did not meet expectations). All in all, I would not recommend The Fountain Room as the food and beverage quality are poor and you'll be paying a high price for that let-down. The service and ambiance were nice, however.

Yelp
The Fountain Room has a wonderful ambiance perfect for a special occasion or a delightful treat when visiting the bottle works district. Service is always great, food is tasty and beautifully plated, cocktails are made to perfection, wine and beer available. The whiskey sours and hanger steak are my favorite here, the prime rib and steaks are also great. Perfect for a date, girls night, special occasion, etc. Have only been here for dinner but am sure brunch is worth giving a try. Hope you give this one a try, enjoy!

Yelp
Tried the Sunday brunch at The Fountain Room last weekend for the first time. The vibe of the place is so great. Love the tall ceilings and the great service and staff. Silly little thing - no salt & pepper on any of the tables which IMHO if there's eggs involved, people have varying tastes on the seasoning so should be easily accessible. My eggs, toast & bacon was lovely. My son devoured his biscuits & gravy so they must have been good! My husband got the brisket dish and enjoyed it. We got a beets & peaches salad for the table as an app and it was so refreshing and tasty.

Yelp
The Fountain Room had been on our list for quite some time, but with so many fine dining options in Indy it took us a while to get to it. I absolutely loved the ambiance and even the walk up to restaurant with the Hotel on full Christmas display was lovely. Our service was the best part of our visit. Our server was upbeat, super helpful and knowledgeable and so personable (non robotic). The food was slightly underwhelming compared to other options such as Harry & Izzies or The Capital Grille, but we really did enjoy our meals. All of us ordered either medium rare or medium steaks and they came out mostly medium well. But this is truly our one and only peeve. The cocktails are on another level. You must try the Coca Cola bitters and the maple drink from the holiday menu was also divine. So happy to have had checked this off my list - NEXT!

Yelp
I've visited the Fountain Room for a drink a few times with coworkers but had the chance to visit for dinner! It's a beautiful restaurant in a prime location! We sat at a large table that was perfect for our group of 8. As a gluten free gal, I didn't see a ton of appealing options that were on the mid-budget range. There are already so many fancier, upscale restaurants in this area. Nothing about The Fountain Room particularly stood out, but the food was satisfactory.

Yelp
The food here is fantastic, there is only one place better for steaks and that is also in Indianapolis... I'm a fan of the Ribeye and they did not disappoint, juicy, flavorful, and tender; combined with the truffle fries and garlic butter, it was terrific. The classic feel and comfortable atmosphere simply added to the experience. What made the evening unforgettable was Jules, our server for the night. She not only had the warmest smile and sparkling eyes, she made everyone feel extremely comfortable and welcome. Jules spoke with us about the convention as if she herself was attending, and her service was first rate. Highly recommend for a superior quality dinner.

Yelp
Went to The Fountain Room for brunch and the space is absolutely beautiful, such a well-designed restaurant with a great atmosphere. I've actually been three times now, each at a different time of day, because I really wanted to love it. Unfortunately, the service has been consistently just okay to disappointing. The food, while presented nicely, tends to lack flavor. For brunch, we shared a cinnamon roll and I had the biscuits and gravy. Both were just okay. I did enjoy the mimosa, it was probably the highlight of the meal. Overall, it's a great spot for ambiance, but the food and service haven't quite lived up to expectations.

Yelp
Everything was right on. High end service. The rib-eye steak was amazing. Happy hour bar draft was cold and crisp. It is on the higher side of the price range but you get what you pay for. The oysters were fresh and had great flavor.

Yelp
I've eaten here with both big parties and small, the best options are to either sit at the bar or with a big group upstairs. For some reason eating in the main dining room now has absolutely zero appeal to me. The food here has definitely improved off a rough start last year and over the past year it has really just plateaued albeit with a perceived decline in service quality which you can feel in the dining room on weekend nights. Sitting with a big group upstairs you get some love and same with the bar but dining room service gets overwhelmed which makes you also realize you're eating classed up Clancy's at a huge premium.

Yelp
Food was excellent and the service was top notch! Our server was extremely friendly, knowledgeable and went above and beyond. We were there celebrating our wedding anniversary and they brought out a hand signed card and complimentary dessert! The Fountain Room was the perfect place to celebrate - really nice vibe! Steak was incredible.

Yelp
Really enjoyed our happy hour at The Fountain Room! I enjoyed the circle city cosmo, which had an amazing flavor with the rhubarb addition and I will definitely return just to have this drink again. We went a little early for dinner, so we just split a bunch of apps, two of which were part of the happy hour special. We had amazing service (shout out Zacharias) and the interior was beautiful.
