Cosy and traditional Aussie pub with super friendly staff. Great menu and a good selection of beers, wines and cocktails. If you love a classic Collingwood n pub with good vibes, this is the place.

Tasty, generously sized Parma with crispy chunky chips, fish tacos encased in crispy tortillas were fab also. Lots of good vegetarian options on the menu. And super friendly staff to top it off. (If anything, would give a touch more marinara sauce with the Parma to keep things juicy and exciting :))

Good range of tap beers and great range of bottle beers. Quality food. Friendly staff. Good interior with all kinds of different table options (low, high, small, big, quiet corner, central). Good music that isn't too loud. Whole stack of games to play. Pool table.

Very nice pub with the best staff. Happy our drinks are very cheap and their Parma is really good and big . Just tried lamb shank and it blew me away. Probably one of the best slow cook lamb I tried. I would also highly recommend grilled fish and chips. Sadly they no longer make fish plate:(

I had the Handmade Gnocchi for dinner and also some chips to share with my table. The gnocchi themselves were impressively light and fluffy, although a little on the big side, they probably could have been half their size. Unfortunately, I thought that the sauce was a bit odd, and the mushroom flavour did not really come through, it also had a flavour undertone that I've never really had with pasta - almost like a curry flavour. The chips were not the best: they were not crispy at all and didn't have any colour to them. The atmosphere was pretty good. The music wasn't too loud, but it started to ramp up later in the night. There were games to play while you were talking with friends, like scrabble and trivia etc. On the night I went, there were also some little stalls upstairs, where you could purchase things like jewellery and accessories.

The food was amazing! And they cater for all tastes.....vegan food is awesome!! It was one of the best Mother's Days I've ever had...2 courses for $35. Lovely staff and a beautiful atmosphere . The decor is fantastic!

Google
Generally a good place. Food is decent. Always a gamble if they will make edits or not. Last time I was there the DJ had the speed just a bit off making everything sound like a terrible cover. Also the choices in music were not cohesive at all. The worse it got the more people cleared out. Weird to be so empty at 9pm on a Saturday. I didn't appreciate the card surcharge that wasn't listed anywhere.

Google
Very friendly and laid back pub. Old school Collingwood vibe. Happy hour(s) from 3pm to 6pm weekdays with 4 excellent beers including Guiness for an amazing $9-. Definitely worth the visit. I am stoked to have discovered the place. The Guiness is one of the best to be had in Melbourne, maybe only the Drunken Poet in the running to match it.

Yelp
You know, i would have given The Fox a good 4 stars (maybe even 5 in its genre) had it not been for my last visit. I have always loved the laid-back friendly service from The Fox girls and found their food to be fresh and tasty. I love that the menu has lots of vegetarian options and that the specials are usually so good I can order from the special board. That being said, i was there last Sunday and the service was fine but it didn't seem to be the same crew. The menu was smaller, but the Sunday roasts were still on. I had the beer battered fish & chips and the fish was really really dry... I'm just not sure this is The Fox I have come to love. My mate had the roast and said it was really good, but something makes me wonder if there has been a change in ownership. I could be right off and if I am, then there is nothing to worry about. I am giving the fox a tentative 3 stars, and hoping on my next walk down to the pub I am again greeted with the tunes, range of beers, the food & the faces I have come to love. I shall report back LOL.

Yelp
Fine selection of boutique Australian and European beers, live music, great tasting menu, rooftop deck, pool table, table tennis table and an outdoor yard. This place has everything. The Fox hotel was started by a couple of friends with various backgrounds in the hospitality industry- which is why this place makes such a successful play at so many aspects of pub culture. They also have a good selection of vegan, vegetarian and gluten free foods on their menu. But carnivores need not worry - the menu has plenty of delicious (meaty) pub classics. Situated on the corner of Wellington St and Alexander Pde the Fox Hotel is ideally located in Collingwood. Less than a crows fly from Smith St and Brunswick St but far enough away that this place only attracts those people serious about enjoying the Foxy facilities. I personally love hanging out at the Fox on sunny afternoons or lazy Sundays - it's just that kind of pub.

Yelp
This is exactly the sort of pub that makes inner-city Melbourne such a great place. This city is blessed to have so many of these types of pubs in suburbs such as Collingwood, Abbotsford, FItzroy, North Melbourne, Brunswick, and so on. The Fox is one of the best. It's relatively small, but uses every inch of its space well, including private rooms and a great rooftop. The food is fantastic (huge serves of hearty pub classics, all well prepared), the staff are helpful and friendly, and there is a great range of beer on tap and in bottles. The place just has a warm, welcoming vibe from the moment you walk in the door. It's the sort of pub that you would visit everyday if you lived nearby. These are the sorts of pubs that we have to fight to retain because they are an essential part of this great city's heart and soul. Long live The Fox!

Yelp
The Fox is a nice enough place, but it's not exactly the most convenient pub to get to. It's not the most inconvenient either, but as it's a short walk from either the 112 or 96 tram, you'll be passing a half-dozen equally good pubs on the way. And why would you do this, you ask? Because you want to search for the women, of course. Or, if you prefer the French, because you want to Cherchez la Femme. A regular evening of panel discussions on various aspects of culture and feminism, Cherchez la Femme is a great way to grab a regular fix of politically charged discussion.

Yelp
Came here on a cold Sunday afternoon for a beer launch. Had been wanting to come here for a long time, but never made it. It is a grungy corner pub with a lot of character. The walls are adorned with beer tap labels and old beer bottles and cans. My kinda place! There is a pool table and they have live music. They have a great selection of craft beers on tap and an even larger selection in the bottle. The beer fridge is right out on the floor, but you must ask for your selection at the bar! Don't help yourself. The food looked amazing and they have huge servings. We didn't eat here, but we saw some of the sizes of the plates coming out. I believe they have a pretty good offering for vegans and vegetarians which is great. It is a really relaxed place and great to catch up over a beer or 2 with some mates. If I lived a bit closer i'd be here a lot more!

Yelp
My fav pub! But bias aside, I love the fox for their delicious lambic/sour beers on tap and in the fridge, the amazing menu which includes a good selection of vegetarian options and the food itself is delicious and reasonably priced. There's a pool table, ping pong booth and upstairs patio, board games and the staff are frickin awesome. Atmosphere is super casual and very friendly, it gets packed, but somehow they can always find you a table. The crowd is very eclectic, which means there's not a concentration of wankers, dickheads or hipsters, oh and they don't play shit music. Yep, I love this place. 5 stars, every time.

Yelp
I was so glad when I came back from Japan a few years ago and found that the old Office Inn had been converted into the wonderful Fox hotel. They gutted the place, dumped the TAB, hired quality staff and a chef with a few good ideas. One of the best things that they did was open up the rooftop. Now the view from the Fox is far from spectacular, but there is something good for the soul sitting on a roof in the sun and sharing a beer with friends. If you are feeling sporty then head into the graffiti filled ping pong alcove for a game - one of the coolest rooms about. The little courtyard gets full pretty quick with smokers, either seated or huddled around the old booze barrels. The restaurant has a warm and cosy vibe and if your timing is right, you're able to enjoy some live music to go along with your quality nosh. An awesome selection of tap and bottled beer and even a pool table and pinball. I gotta say the Fox ticks a whole lot of boxes!

Yelp
The Fox Hotel mixes that line of classic Australian pub with a dirty dive to perfection. Walking into this establishment on a busy Friday, it was filled with punters getting rowdy. Made our order and then headed outside to the glorious roof top deck, but that's when things went sour. They messed up our order delivering a non-vegan meal to the table, then tried to blame us for not asking for the vegan version. We absolutely did, and after chewing them out we got a free pint. The chips delivered were half cooked and were quickly used as cannon fodder in our mini chip war we held to pass the time for the remade meal. The second attempt was decent, but after the staff altercation, probably won't be heading back.

Yelp
Now if you like beer bottle collections (as I do) then this is one pub that you just have to come a visit because I tell you what, they have one huge beer bottle collection. Mind you, that isn't the only thing about this pub that I love because it has one of the coolest rooftop decks that I have discovered, as well as a nice beer garden down the side. I can't forget the entertainment either, such as an old school video games machine, a table tennis table, and off course a pool table. Oh, this is also one of those pubs that have heaps of little nooks and crannies where you can hide away in if you want some privacy (though one of them does contain a table tennis table, so make sure nobody is play - or even pretend to play yourself if you don't want to be disturbed). Unfortunately, since this place is a little out of the way for me it isn't one of those pubs that I can simply say 'I think I will stop in here on the way home for a beer' though for me, it is probably worth the trip.

Yelp
If arriving into town via the Eastern Freeway, The Fox Hotel is your first pub on the left. Nestled on the corner of Alexandra Parade and Wellington Streets, The Fox is a, intimate little pub doing it's own thing and making any patron feel cosy and welcome. With careful attention payed to their beer and wine selection, and a menu that caters for all, (They even have a separate, and impressive vegetarian menu) The Fox is, in my eyes, the perfect "Sunday Pub". Head out back and up the stairs to the open-air beer garden and you'll enjoy uninterrupted views of the city over the rooftops of Collingwood. It fells like something out of Mary Poppins. The Fox hosts live music on weekends, and with its small stage is limited to the smaller, more low-key affair. Audiences watch from mere metres away on couches and this ensures most acts to be acoustic in nature. One of my favourite additions is the large pot of mulled wine available in winter. Sure to help you sink even further into your couch, and reasonably priced, this winter warmer is a must on a cold afternoon.

Yelp
I came here a few weeks ago for a birthday dinner on a Friday night and I was very very impressed (the fact that I got a car park right out the front of the pub helped but wont affect my review). I had a really nice prawn and fish or scallop (I cant recall which - I really should write my yelp reviews the day after going to these places) pie which came with lovely salad and potatos and some nice tomatoes too. I nearly ordered the seafood platter which had barramundi and other nice seafood on it as well - which looked equally as good. In any case, the food was very very good. The other thing which I really liked about the place was just how friendly the crowd was. I came in to the front bar a number of times to check the football scores and almost every time, I ended up having a chat with people I had never met and had no real intention of talking to - mostly about the football. It was just a really nice atmosphere. The bar was busy without being too crowded and the staff were very friendly. The food was really good and there is a pool table too. I really really enjoyed this place.

Yelp
Melbourne pubs are about three things for me: roof gardens, courtyards and great food. Fortuitously, The Fox Hotel satisfies not one but all three of these criteria, along with some unusual touches such as a weird little grotto that is home to a ping pong table - yes, a ping pong table - and menu items such as 'Apple gyozas with caramel sauce & ice cream.' Nom, nom. Incongruous pub domiciled racket sport enclave aside, The Fox really is one of my favourite Melbourne pubs. Serving an awesome menu of pub food with a twist - think meat and three kinds of obscure Asian veg - and boasting one of the best - if smallest - roof gardens in Melbourne. It's not just easy but practically compulsory to spend the whole evening at The Fox if you pop in for an early dinner, and although this place has the vibe of a little known gem about it it's always busy and convivial. And with good reason. One of the best.

Yelp
Very cool pub, has both the advantage and disadvantage of being a little out of the way from nearby public transport stops, which weeds out the Smith/Brunswick St crowds and leaves you with true locals and those with a firm love for the place. There's a cool rooftop deck, lots of nooks and crannies to hang, table-tennis room, and enough interesting decorative flairs to keep your eyes entertained. They've got some rotational beer taps also to keep things fresh. Didn't eat but the smells out of the kitchen nearly twisted my arm. Next time.

Yelp
Went here for a friends birthday. Service and food are wonderful. My only recommendation would be to have service / a bar upstairs or outside as the rooftop is really nice just a trek to the bar

Yelp
We stopped in on a Tuesday night and had no idea what to expect. Good food, good service and an AMAZING beer selection! We enjoyed their $15 steak night on their little rooftop patio with a small view of the city. There are board games downstairs and a chill atmosphere you would expect from Collingwood. Can't wait to go back.

Electra M.

Yelp
Fun and friendly pub. They have a pool table, table tennis and an upstairs deck area. Great selection if beer on tap and great menu with heaps of vegetarian and vegan options.

Yelp
This place is so good for food and chilled out drinks. The bar staff are all legends, super laid back. Love.
