The 22 Best Things to Do in Oslo in 2025

"I found the Fram Museum a detailed, immersive tribute to polar exploration with the centerpiece Fram—the wooden ice‑breaking ship that traveled farther north and south than any other wooden ship—and thorough exhibits on explorers like Roald Amundsen and Fridtjof Nansen including photographs, tools, and artifacts." - Matthew Kepnes

A real highlight of our visit to Oslo. The museum is amazing and the ship is awe inspiring. On entering the museum you receive a handy checklist of 4 things not to miss, which is essential if you're in a hurry to catch the ferry back to central Oslo. Don't miss the trapped in the ice experience or the second ship (through underpass) and the Flight to Remember film. Easy to get here on the number 30 bus or the ferry.

Great museum. The main attraction is Amundsen's polar ship, the Fram. The ship is beautifully presented and can be viewed both inside and out. The rooms below deck are particularly impressive. Lots of information boards and films explain all the details of the expeditions. Absolutely fascinating and, for me, one of the best museums in the world.

We originally planned to visit the Viking Ship Museum, but found out at the door that it is closed until 2027. We are very pleased to have found this as an alternative. The immersive experience is well worth the visit. Most areas are wheelchair accessible, excluding the going into the ships.

They made one whole museum about a race of two guys. This is such an interesting approach, and it was executed beautifully. The museum is full of nice interactive displays, which makes you drawn into the point of view of the explorer. Highly recommend this to anyone visiting Oslo. Plus, you will need to board a boat to go to an island for this museum, and this is a nice ride.

The museum is fascinating, featuring original ships from Norway’s polar expeditions. It’s well worth a visit, but expect crowds. There’s a beautiful view of the Oslo Fjord, and if you’re coming in summer, plan to arrive by boat. The Oslo Pass is excellent for all the information you need.

It was a very fun and enjoyable experience as it shows exactly how they lived on the boat ( if you are a bit claustrophobic it might feel like it is very small). There are a lot of different places to take pictures, would 100% recommend.

The Fram Museum — a tribute to bold, brave, fearless explorers! You’ll dive deep into epic polar expeditions and feel the spirit of adventure. Don’t miss the cold room — many think it’s just an elevator 😄 My last photo is from there!

Very cool museum outside of Norway. The information on the Antarctic expeditions was very interesting. The large ship you can walk onto and inside was amazing. Spent about 2 hours here looking at all the exhibits. It was quite vast with the second side with the airplane and other ship. Overall a great experience and worth seeing.
