Google
This the perfect lunch /supper spot after visiting the plantations. The Francis Fancy Fries are the only way to go!! The big order is plenty for 2. Would recommend eating under the lights under the oak tree. Good food, good service, and will be back.

My boyfriend and I dined in for an early dinner. We got the seafood spinach and artichoke dip. It was so good! We were scraping the bowl. I got the jacked up hamburger steak as recommended by our super friendly waiter, Taylor. It was also good. Do yourself a favor and get the bread pudding with white chocolate. It was AMAZING!

We stopped to eat while in town for a HS football game. So glad we made that choice! Everything we had was delicious! The best chargrilled oysters I've ever had! And our server, Ella, was absolutely amazing! So friendly and attentive, we enjoyed our conversations just as much as the food!

A Taste of Louisiana at Its Finest I recently visited The Francis in St. Francisville, Louisiana, and it was an absolutely stellar dining experience! From start to finish, every bite was packed with flavor and showcased the best of Southern cooking with a creative twist. We kicked things off with The Francis Fancy Fries—a mountain of crispy fries loaded with pulled pork, bacon, melted cheese, and rich brown gravy. It was indulgent, hearty, and perfect for sharing. The fried eggplant with marinara was another appetizer standout—perfectly fried, tender on the inside, with a marinara sauce that had just the right balance of tanginess and spice. For the main course, I tried the country fried ribeye paired with a side of red beans and rice. The ribeye was cooked to perfection—crispy, flavorful, and seasoned beautifully. But the real star was the red beans and rice, which rivaled any I’ve had in Louisiana. It was soulful, comforting, and the perfect complement to the ribeye. We wrapped up the meal with their bread pudding, topped with a decadent white mocha sauce. I don’t think I’ll ever look at bread pudding the same way again—this dessert was next-level delicious, balancing sweetness and richness perfectly. The Francis offers incredible food, warm hospitality, and a true taste of Louisiana in a cozy, charming setting. If you’re in St. Francisville, this is a must-visit spot. I can’t recommend it enough—everything we tried was phenomenal, but that fried ribeye and red beans? Pure magic. Five stars!

Whenever we go to Jackson for meetings I always eat at this restaurant. The menu has a great variety, so everybody can find something they like. The prices are reasonable. Our waitperson wasn't very friendly this time, but they usually have great wait persons. My food was delicious as always and more than enough (I took home leftovers). The rooms are spacious & tables are far enough apart that you can walk past without having to interrupt anyone already seated for passing room. I love the decor & atmosphere of the restaurant. During the warmer months they have the outdoor seating area as well. Great restaurant!

Google
We had the Spinach & Artichoke Dip, The Francis Shrimp appetizer as a meal, & the Jacked Up Hamburger Steak. All were amazing. We had the Key lime pie. It was different but good…pretty tart though. Amazing service!

Google
We thought this restaurant was pretty dang delicious! Like, wow! Great menu items, great Cajun style food and great execution. Amazing atmosphere and our service was great as well. If you are in the area don’t forget to stop by and grab yourself some of their amazing gumbo. We did try both gumbos, seafood or chicken & sausage, we think the seafood was better and had more depth of flavor. Even the color was darker. It was also our first time trying the boudin, and I’m so happy we tried it here first!

Google
I wasn't expecting much in a small town but I was DEFINITELY surprised. The bad first...I was expecting sweet tea with a little tea and a lot of sugar. It was just sweet tea. I ordered gumbo for the appetizer and it was a little spicy but good. Ok, now the GOOD! I ordered the Triple Play Platter: oysters, catfish, and shrimp. The platter was huge, see the picture. I was not expecting this much. The shrimp were huge. The oysters were a bit spicy but nothing to complain about. The tartar sauce has to be homemade bc it was delicious. We also ordered the shrimp and grits and it was a platter by itself. See the picture. Overall, if I'm ever in St Francisville again, I will definitely stop by The Francis. Awesome food!

Yelp
-Broccoli and cheese soup -Fried steak bites -Banana foster cheesecake -Cheeseburger These are the items we got, and they did not disappoint. This place is huge inside, from the parking lot to the interior. Their menu has a great selection. The wait was 30-45 minutes, but it was worth it! There will most likely be a wait when you go, but given the location, there probably isn't much else to eat around that area. This is a great spot! There's a really nice outdoor patio that would be perfect when the weather is good too!

Yelp
MAN this place was busy after the Angola Prison Rodeo. We did luckily snag 2 spots at the bar (after being told a table would be 45 mins). Our neighbors (at the bar) said the duck confit egg rolls were a must! - who are we to doubt them? I do love duck confit (I have a t-shirt that says: "Duck, Duck, Confit"!). They were cheesy and pretty good, but could have been a little bit crispier. My man ordered the Triple Play fried sampler: fried oysters, catfish and shrimp, served with a side (he chose stuffed potato) and hushpuppies. It was HUGE, he said he liked it all - but just said the oysters were not something he thinks he likes in any preparation. I got the fried pork chop with the red beans. It was much larger than it looked in photos. It was crispy and juicy. I took half of it home and it reheated to nearly restaurant quality in our air fryer. Service at the bar was fast and efficient, despite being swamped. The bar does have bar seats with backs, so it was comfy.

Yelp
We visited the beginning of the month. My review wasn't the best. But we visited again today. I told yall I'd go again. When I tell you they did NOT disappoint!! I'm sayin! Chelsea our server was fantastic! Very attentive but not overly! She was so sweet and made sure our drinks were filled, the food, ehh we went outside our comfort zone and ordered some randoms. And can I say I was very impressed! Seasonings on point! Everything delivered in a very timely manner! Everything was amazing! So tasty, very well seasoned! And enough to feed us for supper! For our apps we order duck egg rolls and mozzarella cheeseballs, DELISH! My husband got the blackened chicken Alfredo and side salad. I got the jacked up hamburger steak with mashed potatoes and gravy and smothered green beans, 2 kids got the bbq chicken poboy and fries, they said it was delicious. 2 littles got the kids grilled cheese and fries, the portions were amazing. Service impeccable. Vibe is always a 10/10!

Yelp
Everytime I am in St. Francisville, I go to this restaurant. The food is great and the atmosphere is really fun. It is a little pricey, but usually worth it!

Court T.

Yelp
Food, drinks and waitstaff were all excellent! Cute place though honestly I think my favorite part was that the tables aren't on top of each other. We had room to breathe and enjoy our visit. Definitely going to be a regular stop when in the area!

Travis B.

Yelp
I had a wonderful dining experience at the Francis Southern Table & Bar. The restaurant has a cozy and elegant atmosphere, and the service was friendly and attentive. I ordered the sweet corn and Jumbo lump Crab Bisque and the Eggplant Parmesan, and I was not disappointed. The bisque was creamy and rich, with generous chunks of crab meat and sweet corn kernels. It had a healthy portion of jumbo crabmeat. The eggplant parmesan was crispy and cheesy, with a cream Alfredo sauce and fresh cheese. The portions were generous and satisfying. The asparagus was freshly seasoned. The twice baked potato was good but seemed somewhat overlooked. For the appetizer, I shared the Fancy Fries with Pull Pork, Gravy, BBQ sauce with my friend. It was a decadent and delicious dish, with crispy fries topped with tender pulled pork, savory gravy, and tangy BBQ sauce. The fries were still crunchy and not soggy, and the toppings were well-balanced and flavorful. It was a great way to start the meal, and we enjoyed every bite. The service from the weight staff was absolutely amazing. Everyone who came to assist an offer recommendations for the meal was smiling the entire experience. It felt very inviting and welcoming. Everyone was kind. I scanned the room while these serve staff was assisting other people and noticed that they were just as attentive to them as they were to us. Always smiling and willing to offer drinks, even if it wasn't their table. Our recommendation came from a young waitress that was being trained, and she knew all about all their different dishes and really sold us on the dishes that we got. They had lots of televisions like a sports bar for watching tv. If you're ever in Saint Francisville or Feliciano Parish and you're looking for a nice place to eat. I would definitely recommend you stop for a delicious family treat and something tasty to eat.

Kelsey M.

Yelp
Food, service, and ambiance were all amazing here and that's how a place gets 5stars. The crab cakes are highly recommend! That was with out a doubt my favorite part of the meal. My club sandwich was very good as well, I had no complaints about any of the food, just my own preferences. My family really enjoyed the Buffalo shrimp as well as the entrees they ordered. The weather was perfect out so we sat outside under the big tree and truly enjoyed our time together. Service was friendly and quick with our orders as well, this place truly is a good time every time. The Myrtle Plantation is maybe a quarter a mile from this place so I highly recommend eating here and then going to walk the grounds of the Myrtle Plantation if you have time for it !

Kris C.

Yelp
Great meal. Nice atmosphere good drinks. We sat outside and it's a pretty setting by the tree.

Heather V.

Yelp
Got bbq sandwich, cheeseburger, po boy , boudin, meat pie. Everything was really good. Staff were friendly. Like that they had tables outside for larger groups of people.

Ron W.

Yelp
It's a great blend between the Southern foods of old and Cajun with a twist. Locally owned by mighty fine people. Its proximity will allow you to check out the amazing local history as well as shop, fish and cruise the back roads of Louisiana. The gentle curving roads and the rolling hills of West Feliciana are a perfect place to breathe and unwind from life. I just had the shrimp and avocado salad and was completely satisfied. I'm a big eater. Finished it off with a sumptuous Pecan Bread Pudding and a hot cup of Community Coffee. I wish my Mama could've been here. Wow. Please stop in and relax. And know this, I do not get paid to write this.... If a place is actually worthy, I review it. I was fortunate enough to grow up in a restaurant. This place takes me home.

Jasmine H.

Yelp
Came here for a date and I enjoyed my meal. We were sat rather quickly and right next to a tv while the game was on. For an appetizer we started with the wings, they were good and crispy! I ordered the pepper Jack salad with steak and it was as expected no complaints maybe just more veggies. My date had the jacked up hamburger steak which I got a chance to try and omg it was great. It about a 40 minute drive from BR so that makes me sad but I can't wait to come back and try other menu items.

Robert M.

Yelp
This is my 4th trip and it is always amazing!!! The building is pretty cool, but eating under an oak tree is fantastic! The staff and service are great on every trip!!

Nikki B.

Yelp
Plentiful delicious food that you can order one meal that two can share , customer service is great. I love the daily specials because it is unique (taste bud challenge ) and something different from the normal menu.

Alicia B.

Yelp
Waitress was attentive and nice. Buffalo shrimp was great as usual. Tried the strawberry chicken salad for the first time. Amazing. Didn't know strawberries could taste so good in a salad ‍.

Bobby L.

Yelp
Always good food, service and atmosphere. Love sitting out by the tree outside when weather permits, especially in the late evening and night time hours. You just can't get much more sitting at home on the porch feel than that.

Kenneth M.

Yelp
Went to the Francis today ,the food was brought to the table quickly and was piping hot ! Everything was well prepared and very flavorful. Our waitress Paula was the best ! Courteous, friendly, and very aware of her customers needs! So if you come here ask for her to get the full dining experience!

Courtney D.

Yelp
Delicious food & great atmosphere. Try the duck eggrolls they're always a fam favorite. The eggplant parm on Fridays is literally the best I've ever had.

Kelli B.

Yelp
food was sooooo good I got the bbq bacon burger it was so good the buns are really sweet my dad got a jacked up salisbury steak it looked really good.

Halezyeah ..

Yelp
The ambience was nice. Seems to be a rather busy place, might take some time. We got the duck filled eggroll as an appetizer. This sweet tea is good as it's made by community, which is always the best. We tried the seafood gumbo, which tasted mostly of okra, not my fav.

Kevin H.

Yelp
Ate here today with my wife. We started with the boo-dan balls which were good. My wife ordered the chicken fried ribeye. It was soaked in grease and tasted like fish. She sent it back. I ordered the double play with fish and shrimp. It was also soaked in grease. The stuffed potato wasn't eatable. I would steer clear of this restaurant.

Sharon M.

Yelp
We hadn't been there in a few years, so we decided to go back. We ordered the pick of 2 seafood plate(fried thin slice Catfish & Grilled Shrimp). The Grilled Shrimp was GREAT the Fish was OK. We also had a Bacon Cheeseburger it was ok. We also had their SUPPOSED To be SUPER GREAT CRAB CAKES( they WERE'NT.) They were so OILY & cooked so SOFT till they made me NAUSEOUS . NOT GOOD AT ALL & NO LUMP CRABMEAT was in the Crab cakes at ALL. It was SHREDDED.

Ces G.

Yelp
Top notch experience! Great food, berates and service! The setting in a Deep South historical building is fantastic! Great vibes and atmosphere!!

Jess F.

Yelp
Had dinner outside under a lit-up, giant oak tree. It was beautiful. Dinner was great, drinks were great... our waitress was so sweet & precious.

Andra C.

Yelp
This was our first and last time coming here. The food was good. There were 15 of us, and we had a reservation. 11 of us waited a little over an hour for our food while the rest waited for nearly 2 hours. After requesting that their meals be comped for the wait they were able to get them for "free." Two of us were on the same ticket - altogether two meals costed $120...plus we tipped $20 totaling $140. Out of the blue, I received an additional $42 charge on my banking statement. When we called The Francis and told them about it, we were told that, "The two transactions were for different cards." This is insane and makes absolutely no sense. I don't know if they're trying to recoup the money they lost from the meals they comped, or what's going on, but whatever they're doing is sleazy. They aren't cooperating so all we can do is file a dispute with the bank.

Kenny C.

Yelp
Food, atmosphere and service are always amazing. I come to town a couple of times a year and I always plan to have a meal here.

Jenna L.

Yelp
Delicious food, great service and atmosphere. Recommend a visit. Cute place in a great location in St. Francisville!

David D.

Yelp
Fatty brisket in the stuffed baked potato. Tiny serving of Crabmeat Au Gratin (see pic) with very little lump crab meat Salty Shrimp and Grits Great service. Second less than stellar meal in a row

Julie B.

Yelp
The Francis has great food and atmosphere. Sometimes there may be a little wait, but it's always worth it!

Karen S.

Yelp
We were excited to try The Francis. There's not much around these parts, but this restaurant looked great on paper. When we arrived, there was a bunch of bored-looking teenagers who were seating customers. One of them was our server, and she acted like she'd rather be anywhere else but there. I get it, but the service experience was not good. Nor was the food. I ordered a dish gluten free, but it came out with bread on the side. The server was totally like, what's your problem?! I ended up canceling the order and going to 1796 at The Myrtles instead. I wouldn't recommend The Francis if you have a food allergy or disease-related dietary needs.

Andi F.

Yelp
Charming restaurant right off state highway 61. Friendly service. Everything was clean. The crab au gratin was amazing with the asparagus and stuffed potato. I recommend this if your in the area.

M B.

Yelp
If you do not get the key lime pie you are seriously doing yourself an injustice. It is above and beyond any I have ever had . And the other food and staff are lovely!

Kathi P.

Yelp
The food was very good and the building and grounds are beautiful. While we were there a terrible storm broke out and the staff were very accommodating letting us wait it out inside.

Mary C.

Yelp
Food was really good. Fried crab fingers were excellent. The waitress was very quick and friendly. Will def go back next time passing through st francisville

Jonny I.

Yelp
The food wasn't very tasty. It was overpriced, slow, and just overall subpar for any restaurant... Shady folks! Do not recommend.

Walter O.

Yelp
Food is consistent and service is good. Go early on weekends evenings. The parking is an issue but there is additional parking between the old hospital and the restaurant

Drew M.

Yelp
Just visiting for the weekend and decided to stop in for dinner. Food and atmosphere was really good and service was amazing.

Robin B.

Yelp
I am so glad we stopped in this small, charming town for lunch. I recommend getting a table outside if the weather allows. The outdoor patio area is simply lovely. We had the oysters Rockefeller and the fried shrimp po'boy. The service was fast and friendly and the prices very reasonable. It was easily the best meal we had while on our road trip through the South.

Cherry P.

Yelp
Big busy place, but has nice open atmosphere and nice large patio outside featuring live music. The food is very good from grilled oysters to shrimp platter to sirloin steak. The only item I didn't care for were the Boudain Balls. They lacked flavor and were served with an odd liquid containing a strong flavor of balsamic vinegar. Balsamic vinegar is not a good pairing with rice and pork sausage. Otherwise, nice meal and we will return again.

Yelp
We ate here for my birthday. we had a large group with kids and they managed us well ! The server was extremely nice and checked on us frequently! Also gathered a few staff to sing happy birthday to me. Food came out fast & you definitely got your money's worth per plate. Would love to visit again when they have a band and enjoy the seating area under the tree! I had the red fish & we shared both types of the charbroiled oysters! EVERYTHING WAS DELICIOUS! 10/10

Terrance F.

Yelp
Came here one Saturday afternoon after my Goddaughter cross country track meet. We pulled up and cars was park everywhere. My first thought was no way this place is PACKED!! Nevertheless you can't never be fooled by the outside. I dropped my wife off to go reserve the table while I continue driving around looking for parking. We were seated in about 30 minutes under a beautiful oak tree. The outside seating was nice on the patio. We had a very friendly waiter. Now to the food it was DELICIOUS. Everyone enjoyed. My daughter crab cakes was more breaded than it was crab. We were not disappointed one bit. Will be back again...

Ashlyn Y.

Yelp
We decided to take date night out of our hometown and drive 45 minutes to the Francis. This place is a staple for the area and do not be swayed at the size - courtyard area, bar, open seating with multiple floor levels. The place feels like southern comfort all rolled into one. We started out with the duck confit egg rolls which were easily the best item on the menu. These were overflowing with tender, delicious duck. Highly recommend. We also got the shrimp appetizer that comes over bread with a cream sauce - I could have eaten this as my meal! That sauce was creamy and incredible. Two of us ended up ordering the same flounder special - easily could have split this between two people but that fried flounder was delicious! It even heated up great in the air fryer the next day. We also go a dozen raw oysters - they were clean for the most part but the size of them - probably would have been better if we had gotten them chargrilled but they were good besides the massive size. The biggest downside was the service...we had such a sweet server but it took us an hour and a half to get our food when we watched multiple tables of 4 or larger get seated after us and receive their food within 30 minutes. We received our drinks and appetizers within the first 15 minutes but an additional long wait for our meals. Timing could have been an issue but was disappointed when a manager didn't come speak to us to help ease the frustration. Outside of this experience, would absolutely recommend eating here.

Imani M.

Yelp
This restaurant from the building to the interior was amazing. Inside is very spacious. We are from out of town and decided to eat here because the building and yelp rating was good. It was 2:30 on a Wednesday and we were seated right away. I ordered a crab cake salad which presentation was good. The crab cakes on the other hand were not good . I am a crab cake lover and I have to stop trying other People's and stay with my own recipe! My husband ordered the prime rib po boy which came with fries. I am here to tell you the po boy was incredible with enough meat, lettuce, tomato. The bread was okay. The French fries were large curly fries that had a slight crunch and ever-so soft inside. I will definitely order this for me. The Server Jena was very efficient and friendly. The food was brought out in a speedy fashion. The restaurant and restroom were very clean. When we pass through the lovely, quaint town this will be my go to Restaurant. I live about an hour away!

Yelp
This one waiter was super awesome and deserves ALLLLL the love in the world!!!! He was relatable and kind and we enjoyed him!! Not to mention, his social skills are unmatched and he matched our energy perfectly! Tuesday Tuesday Tuesday!!!! Desman, his name is Desman and he is SOOOOO cool!!! -Apr 5, 6:15pm 2024

Yelp
Took the drive from Gonzales after seeing reviews about this place and it was worth the under an hour drive. Lots of space here inside and outside and ample parking. We were quickly greeted and seated and our server came over and greeted us shortly there after. He did not read off if they had any specials (I saw some on the board when I came in but didn't get a chance to read it). We tried a few things since this place is not close to us. The wings appetizer is a must. Plenty of selections for appetizers but I really loved the wings. They were crispy and the Buffalo sauce had a little sweet that worked on these kind of wings. On the next visit we plan on trying more appetizers. My husband liked the oysters but questioned the type of cheese that were on the jacked up oysters. I had the double play with shrimp and fish. Fish were good but the shrimp was honestly a little better. There were crispy and had great flavor. The bread pudding is also a good end but really sweet. We took it home to enjoy later. Overall worth the trip and I will be back.

Nancy C.

Yelp
This place was amazing! I didn't catch our server's name, but she was wonderful! Checked on us just often enough, brought us our food in a timely manner. Really she was great! I ordered the strawberry grilled chicken salad. Really fresh ingredients. Was tasty! I would come here again and I highly highly recommend!!

Toni W.

Yelp
The atmosphere and the food was fantastic. I will surely return to this restaurant. They have beautiful seating outside with lights hanging from the huge tree. I would love to go back right at dusk.

Rich G.

Yelp
Monday dinner while in Saint Francisville. Thought we would try this place based on Yelp reviews. Glad we did. Started with appetizers- I had 6 raw oysters and my wife had the crab-corn bisque. Excellent. My meal also came with a side salad. They had a special board as you enter the restaurant but we had looked at their menu on Yelp- so it was shrimp and grits for me. Wife had the blackened red fish. My meal came with 9 shrimp and a large grit cake. I normally like the creamy grits but this was interesting. They mold the grits (maybe 3" diameter) and give it a quick deep fry (like you might for a crab cake). This gives the outside a bit of a crust. Really nice taste. (See photos) The blackened red fish was perfectly prepared- blackened but not overly spicy. Her meal came with a baked potato and asparagus. (The potato could have been hotter.) Our waitress was very good. The meal came out quickly. Place was clean- good food and value- so it is a 5!

Russell D.

Yelp
Great food and great service my sister and I had dinner at the restaurant tonight . As an appetizer I ordered the chargrilled oysters and then as a main course Crayfish étouffée with a salad . My sister ordered a salad with grilled chicken. The food and our server were both excellent ! I highly recommend this restaurant ! 5 stars !!

Teresa W.

Yelp
We went to and I ordered the boiled crawfish and man oh man they were so good. Just out the pot steaming hot just like they should be. I got the 5 pounds and I had a few left but my husband was more than happy to help me finish off the rest after he finished eating his hamburger steak plate which was also delicious. We had a great server. No Wait to be seated which was a miracle because this place is always packed
