The Baker Behind Some of the Best Carby, Buttery Goods in New York | Bon Appétit

"This hotel created a bespoke head-baker role to coordinate baking across multiple in-house concepts; the baker oversees a small team and a production commissary, turning out breads and pastries intended to support chefs but that have become destination items in their own right. Signature contributions include black bread and pitas for dips, laminated seaweed bread for sandwiches, craveworthy cookies and cakes for display, and a years-in-the-making chocolate morning bun. The position is described as collaborative and quietly essential rather than flashy, and the baker’s quirky, ingredient-forward sensibility has made these baked goods the breakout stars of the property." - ByElyse Inamine

This is an excellent place to live! They take great care of you and has lots of amenities like the gym, the laundry room, the study hall and the clubhouse with lots of snacks for vending. I use the amenities as much as possible and it makes me so happy to be in a great community. I would recommend this place to anyone!

I’ve had a wonderful experience living at The Freehand. From the start, the community has felt welcoming, well-maintained, and thoughtfully managed. A big shoutout to Rockwell on the staff—he’s been incredibly helpful, professional, and always goes above and beyond to make sure residents are comfortable and taken care of. The property itself is clean, quiet, and beautifully kept. It’s clear that the management team takes pride in the upkeep of the grounds and shared spaces. I always feel safe and at ease walking around the community. If you're looking for a peaceful, clean, and professionally managed place to call home, I highly recommend The Freehand. Thanks again to Rockwell and the team for making this a great place to live!

By far the coolest apartment complex in Provo. I lived here and couldn't say enough good things about the management and property. Loved my unit and how close it is to BYU. Highly recommend living here.

The Freehand has been an amazing experience- the management is honestly the best around; Rockwell is always quick to answer, and help with any issue. The rooms are absolutely beautiful, with modern appliances and a TV in every room, which has been quite the treat. The rent is a bit pricey, but when you factor in the customer service, the amenities- like an incredible lounge and gym, it’s really worth it. I wouldn’t want to live any other place!

I have to rate this place better now that I lived here almost a year. Still decent for a newer joint, fairly standard for apartment living. The place is kept pretty clean and noise level is not too bad. I love the office help they’re very professional while still being great to work with. I renewed my lease to stay another year.

Having lived at this complex for almost two years, I have been here thorough their initial construction and expansion. The complex is nice, relatively quiet, and the facilities are in great condition. The gym is one of my favorites. The study room and laundry are pretty well kept. The rooms are cozy, you are definitely paying for the location over the size of the room. As a BYU student, the location is fantastic. The games can be a little overwhelming as you are so close to the stadium, but the noise isn't bad in the apartment itself. My only real critique is the internet speed. Being that is a mandatory expense, I would hope for more consistently decent WIFI. It is very slow. Overall, the location really is the selling point and if that is the most important to you, this complex is a great place to live.

This place is the worst! For over a year I dealt with constant noise from construction right next door. Sometimes they would wake me up on a Saturday morning at 7 AM! That is during quiet hours. My entire apartment would shake. I should have left after my lease but instead I stayed because Rockwell lied to me. He said it would be done by the end of September. It wasn't finished until December. Now we have a bunch of new tenants that don't know how to manage their pets. They let their dogs go potty wherever! They don't put their dogs on leashes and let them bark through the night. My dog has been harassed by two dogs that weren't on leashes. Because of this the apartments are using different pet registration service. Fine, I get it's probably for the best. But get this I have only 24 hours to register with the new service or I get fined. I got the email to register yesterday at 3 PM and then I get a text that if I don't have it done today by 5 PM I will be fined. Barely any notice! I've done everything right: Registered my dog the original way, use a leash outside the apartment at all times, and clean up after her. And now the apartment is asking me to take out of my lunch break to get this done. And it gets better, I have to register my dog's DNA. I don't know what that means yet but my Dog probably won't like it. I never agreed to this when I signed my lease and my pet's lease. And to top it off, they nickel and dime you. They increased prices for the washing machines and dryers from $2 to $2.25. I want to remove the bed frame that came with the apartment and they told me that it would $75 per month for them to take back their bed frame. And they charge $40 a month for parking but if there is a BYU game you won't be able to park because BYU fans took your spot. There's no guest parking or the option to pay for an overnight guest spot.

Very meh. Apartments don't really have good circulation and arnt very well insulated so they are difficult to cool or heat. Has a nice gym though. Not a terrible place to live, but I think for some of the drawbacks it is a tad over priced.
