"Sonoma roadside favorite the Fremont Diner, which closed unexpectedly this summer despite massive demand, has returned in a new form at 2698 Fremont Drive. It’s now Boxcar Fried Chicken & Biscuits, a pared down version of its former self focused on the old Fremont Diner’s most popular items." - Caleb Pershan

The Fremont Diner. This is a really good place to have food. It's one of the best Diner I have been to. It's open space allowing a nice dose of sun and wind to brush along side with the view of mountains and beautiful landscape. The food is really delicious and amazing. It's heavy and one meal is enough for an average person unless you are really Hungry and want to have a big amount of portion. The milkshakes are really tasty and thick. The staff is super friendly and the waitresses are pretty and really charming. It was fun to come here and have food after visiting the vineyards around. It's usually packed with people. And the food is just 10 on 10. The devil eggs is a must try and even the chicken sandwich. Hope you have a good time when you visit out here. I would like to visit here again and taste the delicious food they have. 5/5 from my side. -Vardan

What's not to love! The food is fabulous! Southern home cooking with a twist! Everything that came out of that kitchen looked amazing! I had the chicken and waffles. Some of the best I've eaten and it had 4 pieces of chicken on top! That's 1/2 a chicken! Bucket of biscuits were amazing! 3 things to try next time are the brisket, pimento burger and Mac n cheese!

We always pass this place and it always crowded. But today it wasn't that full so we stopped for lunch. My wife had the Nashville chickens and slaw. I had the brisket hash. Both were very good. The chicken is spicy but it tasted good. Also we got a bucket of biscuits and jalapeno corn bread that were also good. I will now have to come back again to try the Mac and cheese and plain brisket.

Really tasty comfort food in a rustic, picturesque outdoor setting. There's a great selection of beers on tap, and every dish hits the spot ... so much so that it'll get sore if you're not careful. Definitely a place you must try at least once, and likely a place you'll want to visit again and again.

They don't take reservations, but allow you to call ahead. We were seated upon arrival. The food was tasty. Had chicken fried steak, shrimp and grits, and deviled eggs. The biscuits we're superb! Grapefruit preserves and sage tea were an acquired taste.

Good service, cool vibe, decent food. Located right on highway 12 as you ride through Sonoma you'll find this combination of a breakfast diner/smoking BBQ stop. The atmosphere is more like a picnic than a restaurant - the parking lot is dirt as is the outdoor eating area complete with picnic tables, benches, umbrellas to shield the sun, and mason jars for glassware. And what picnic would be complete without the pesky flies? They have those too. The menu includes an all-day breakfast section along with BBQ sandwiches and some original dishes as highlights. I regretfully selected the poor boy fried chicken sandwich. Sounded like a fantastic use of guilty pleasure calories, but it was overcooked and dry with minimal condiments. I highly recommend the biscuits with the pepper jelly - EXCELLENT! As a matter of fact, I used the jelly on my sandwich! Enjoy the atmosphere, the view of the surrounding vineyards, and a wise menu selection will seal the deal.

If you go on a weekday, you won't have to wait the long lines you see on the weekend. The ham biscuits are delicious with a cup of coffee. The shrimp and grits with a poached egg are my go-to every time. Other items seen are the chicken fried steak with an over easy egg and an oyster po'boy. Both also delicious but the shrimp and grits are my fave. Last but not least, a salted caramel shake is a must!

Spicy Nashville fried chicken to die for. Nothing like champagne in a jar. There were so many things on the menu I want to eat. Cheese grits and jalepeno corn bread so tasty.
