The Fresh Market

A lovely store with plenty of specialty items for sale. Not inexpensive but special enough that we return again and again. The bakery does a good job with its fresh baked items and the produce is always pretty and fresh. A great place to find unique host/hostess gifts and seasonal treats. The freshly-prepared sushi is good and there’s plenty of pre-made meal selections. Not the kind of place people do full weekly grocery shopping, judging from the sparsely filled carts, but we are usually happy with what we buy.

I had a great experience at Fresh Grocer thanks to the manager, Kerry. He is very professional, respectful, and genuinely attentive to customers. Kerry took the time to listen, handled the situation efficiently, and made sure everything was taken care of. You can tell he truly cares about the store and the people in it. Managers like him make shopping at Fresh Grocer a much better experience.

I want to love Fresh Market but feel the glory is in the beautiful presentation — not the prices or product-sourcing. Many fair options for organic, natural, responsibly-sourced *pantry* items (but wow do you pay a huge premium), but the “fresh” items don’t offer ideal options. I’ve been here a handful of times and struggle to find organic produce. I see it on their website but don’t see it in-store. Driscoll’s berries, sure, everywhere has their organic berries. Other produce, not so much. Fine, I have to go all the way to Springfield, to Martindale’s, to find trustworthy organic, locally-grown produce. Could not find any fresh bread that’s not made with enriched flour, niacin, any of that junk. Bread should have 4 ingredients, not 24. I was really disappointed that there weren’t organic options. All bakery items such as cookies and cake had a super-long ingredients list with dyes, preservatives and yucky stuff; may as well go to Acme. A simple 13-oz jar of Bon Maman jam is about $8.99 here, when you can buy it for $6.99 at Wegman’s. Butcher line was long, but at a glance I couldn’t see any designation on the meat such as “pasture-raised,” “grass-finished,” “organic,” etc. It’s a really pretty store; they know how to fuel your shopping with dopaminergic surges. But for those shocking prices I want something reliably organic and locally-sourced — not the same quality I could buy at Acme for 1/3 the price.

Horrible. Have had multiple problems the past year. It seems nobody they hire wants to work anymore. Cashier in one line put up her register closed sign, and you could see the cashier in next register was visibly angry. She then proceeded to put her sign up and left me standing there. There were zero registers open then so I just left everything and walked out. I complained in the store last year when I couldn’t st get anyone to wait on me at the meat counter. Two weeks ago I was ignored at the deli counter. The prices are also out of control. They can’t blame inflation because that has improved so they continue to price gouge. They are sure to close soon

I have always had good experiences here. I bought water last time I was here and I waited in line to pay for it. One of the workers went up to a register and said she can help me. She did help me, I paid and left. Good experience. I know someone who works here and is paid an hourly wage. He doesn’t work for free as it is illegal in the United States of America, which is where I live. I have a job, but it is not in this location. Wednesday is all day.

My favorite grocery store other than Wegmans. I love the atmosphere, the variety of imported foods, the fresh meats and pastries, and the superior customer service. I can't wait to come back after Thanksgiving when the store is decorated for Christmas. Sure it's a little pricey but join theyr rewards program for some savings

Best around for quality, cleanliness. Great employees. Good customer relations. I had a vegetarian sushi platter made up for party. Well received, delicious. The nice lady in that department made it beyond my expectations. Will definitely be back. Only thing I had problem with/ after scanning code. A call helped me .

My wife and I stopped by just to walk through because we enjoy the atmosphere and the items they sell. We came across a section where they offer pre-made meals that you can buy with all the ingredients, which was cool and a dinner meal. The dinner meal they offer each piece of the meal for $25 (such as the chicken, rice, vegetables etc) for four people, which fit right in for our family dinners and they change it weekly. They also had a great deal for chicken that was buy 1lb get one free, which the employee was very helpful to show me where everything was. I also enjoy going to look for difference seasonings and marinades, which they have a great selection. We decided that we might have to go up there more to check out what is there.

From the prepared foods section, I bough some BBQ ribs and they were beyond inedible. Threw the whole order in the trash. Very disappointed.

I was just there over the weekend. This store needs a new manager. The lobby area with carts was dirty with trash on the floor. I wanted to buy salmon but there was a very long line and only one person covering both the meat and fish sections-this seems to happen every weekend. There were no prepackaged salmon trays. I finally left because of poor service. This store in particular raises prices inappropriately for holidays. Bad for business and shoddy business practices.

[1016] 10/13/2019 This Fresh Market location is located in a strip mall with plenty of parking on Baltimore pike. I like coming here because I can find unique items such as whole wheat organic flour, Manchego cheese, gluten free items and Ton more of unique items. Tons of bulk coffee and candy and olives. Staff was very friendly. I picked up a ton of items including a warm Pumpkin pie which my husband loved I'll definitely be back

I hate to give this place a bad rating, and honestly, I've only ever had great customer service here. But what I experienced today by an employee was not ok. Not sure if she was the store manager or the floral manager or what (she was over by floral, but if she is the store manager, then she needs some additional customer service training). She approached me about something that I was not in the wrong for and didn't even approach me nicely about it. Called from behind me - not an "Excuse me, ma'am" or a "Hi, can I speak with you about this?" Nope, just rudely shouts a question at me - and me not even knowing she's talking to me, doesn't answer at first - she then walks up to me, physically removes an item from my bag even after me explaining why said item was in my bag, and then walks away. I should have left the other items I planned to purchase there in the store and went home. I understand WHY she did it. It's the MANNER in which she did it that was very unprofessional. Long story short, the Assistant Manager was super and things were remedied. He made my visit fantastic prior to this vile woman approaching me. Wish I had gotten her name, but I was so taken back that I was being treated in this way that I just didn't think to glance at her name tag. My hope is that she was dealt with appropriately after I left. And if SHE'S your store manager, then woof. That being said, I will never buy from the floral department of this store again. Which is sad, because I'm not even sure if she ran the floral department. It's just where she was during the time of this incident. I honestly would prefer not to shop there at all anymore, but the other employees were just so nice prior to this, that I hate to let one person rain on my parade. So, hey Fresh Market employee who took the small bouquet of flowers away from me today and then promptly returned them because you got told you were WRONG - if you're the one responding to these comments - you are BEYOND rude and need to learn how to approach customers respectfully. It's the day before a holiday and you made me feel like dirt. Luckily, I'm a nice person and didn't chew you out for what you did. You're also lucky your assistant manager, cashier, and another employee were absolutely fantastic because I honestly would never set foot in this store again after that otherwise. So, instead of treating you disrespectfully in the store like you did to me, I'll just leave this nice little review here for all (and hopefully, your manager) to see :) Thank you, Kerry, for your kindness today. You are the true MVP!

Great selection and quality! The store is clean, organized and well stocked. Meats are high quality and certain days have deals. Definitely definitely worth the drive every other week.

Used to really like visiting here once and a while but since pandemic it's just an ok experience now. Selection is decent, not as good as it used to regarding produce and meat. Maybe I just keep going on days where there is hardly anything left. Good spot for a few things or grab prepared deli lunches for work, gifts, coffee, trying new snacks, super pricy though otherwise for a weekly or biweekly shopping haul, prices are jacked up. Agreed with some of the comments regarding service too where everyone seems annoyed.

I've been a fan since experiencing The Fresh Market in both Columbia, SC & VA Beach, VA decades ago and was delighted to see one come to my neighbor hood in Briton Lakes. It IS a specialty boutique grocery store that provides alternative food choices to those seeking needed 'healthier' resources when one chooses dairy-free or gluten-free diets. It also provides stellar high quality meat, fish and cheese choices for those with discriminating tastes and perhaps a larger discretionary grocery budget. Not having any food allergies or dietary requirements that prevented me from enjoying their bakery items; I was MOST PLEASED The Fresh Market offered seasonal desserts like their Buche Noel at Christmas and a yummy coconut cake at Easter! It's my 'go-to' shop for their rosemary sourdough rolls which have never disappointed in the decade plus years I've enjoyed them. They add an elegant twist for rolls when I'm entertaining. My fav reason to pop into my local Fresh Market is for their excellent variety of daily freshly prepared sushi ! I greatly appreciate the kind willingness of the 'sushi preparer' to create the sushi selection I'm looking for when it is not already prepared or missing from the daily selection! Having resided in Tokyo where fresh sashimi and sushi are dietary mainstays, the Fresh Market rarely disappoints with their quality of ingredients and quite reasonably priced. If you been pondering a visit to The Fresh Market in Briton Lakes shopping center, I highly encourage popping in to give it a try! And if one is looking for a fabulous floral selection, this is another benefit for one stop shopping! ENJOY the fragrances!

Being new to the area (for work), I was pretty happy to see that The Fresh Market has meal kits. I drive a little over an hour to get home to Lansdale so I decided to pop in and grab one of the meal kits to make when i got home. I decided on the Korean Beef Stirfry and it was pretty awesome I must say. Fresh ingredients, lots of flavor, and a pretty big portion. Ill most likely be grabbing these more often on my way home. The rest of the store looked great and it seemed like they have a nice selection of the essentials. On top of that, the staff seemed to pretty friendly. Nice job!

the wrap I bought was not good, chicken pesto with goat cheese and red roasted peppers. there was so much pesto on the sandwich it ruined the wrap. hardly any roasted peppers in it. was very disappointed .also bought a salad spinach egg cheese which would have been good but the dressing had a fishy taste to it. I was very under whelmed with the food. you may wanna re =train your sandwich makers .

I enjoy The Fresh Market, and while the reviews on here are so-so, it's always busy, so they must be doing something right! The Fresh Market is NOT a place where you go to do your grocery shopping every week. It's not as diverse as Whole Foods or as cheap as Trader Joe's. However, they have some great items that keep me coming back here on a fairly regular basis. First, they have tons of great dairy-free items such as coconut ice cream, almond milk, non-dairy cheese, etc. Second, they have a very small freezer section but a few standouts, such as the Haute Dogs (basically a fancier version of pigs in a blanket) and other tasty frozen appetizers for entertaining. They have a huge cheese section, so there are always tempting fancy cheeses to buy. Their bakery section is awesome- I bought amazing giant cupcakes here once, and they also have pretzel rolls that are addicting. They also have a section with pre-made food to pick up for dinner, such as my favorite- the vegetarian spring rolls. They have a large candy and chocolate section, and also sell some "natural"/organic/whatever toiletries. They have a decent produce section as well. Again- it's not the place to go for your weekly groceries. It's also not cheap. But it's worth checking out and exploring their unique products, especially if you're entertaining or wanting to pick up something for dinner.

Did you know The Fresh Market has AMAZING cake pops?? Now you do. The chocolate cake with chocolate coating was nothing short of decadent (I hate that word, so you know that I must have really been impressed to be using it). It was like eating fudge on a stick. If you need party favors, order some cake pops. They were individually wrapped, looked super cute, and tasted delicious!

OK, I am now officially over my brief infatuation with TFM. It has changed so much over the past few years that now it's Wegman's, Whole Foods or Trader Joe's for me before I come here. My kid does not like their sushi (she also hates Trader Joe's sushi), as she is partial to the pricey whole-paycheck Genji Sushi (or going out for "real" sushi). I miss the old days with the personal care section and bulk candies. Meanwhile, the produce is gorgeous here and the meat department has good deals on selected days - Like Cheap Chicken or Cheap Chuck. But you have to know when to come for that and I do not shop here regularly any more. (Wegman's must be killing them and also putting a dent in the Glen Mill's Whole Foods.) So happy to have options, but if TFM doesn't step up their game, they will not be here 5 years from now.

I've been shopping at this store since it opened. Even thought it tends to be a bit more expensive than others in the area. I drive 30 minutes to get to the store. On Saturday, May 27th, I had a troublesome experience at your Glen Mills location. I suffer from Systemic Lupus which has affected numerous organs of my body, including my heart and lungs. I arrived at the store to find No electric cart. Needless to say, it's difficult for me to walk around or stand long. Having the cart available is an ADA Reasonable Accommodation. No was able to assist. There was no one else in the store using it. I really needed some things so I leaned on a regular cart. I waited my turn at the meat counter thinking I would get a rack of ribs for the holiday. I asked the gentleman to remove the membrane for me. (This is something I have done all the time because of lupus's cousin Jaccouds disease which affects the use of my hands) He could not do it. He was polite but had all kings of excuses that he didn't know how. Why was he working in that department? I later got up to the cashier and she noticed that my membrane-baby back ribs were not wrapped properly and was going to take them back for me. Again, what an unpleasant experience to Fresh Market. I arrived home and it took me awhile because of my disabled hands but I was able to remove the membrane. Why should I continue to shop there?

Apparently, The Fresh Market in Glen Mills has a lot of new hires and staff! Yesterday, I had returned to Fresh Market after defecting to Wegmans and Whole Foods over the last couple of years.....although they are longer distances from my house. It seemed to me there was new management and a lot of new faces working at the cash register, the bakery, the meat section, etc. I found the customer service to be very friendly and efficient and overall excellent! I also felt the produce was significantly improved. I know it's a little pricey here at times for some items, but I'm willing to pay for the better quality and much improved shopping experience. It is a charming, manageable store to negotiate.

My worst shopping experience of the pandemic. I ordered online for pick up. Lots of errors in the order--the regular girl left because of a death in the family and the new girl did not know what to do so made many errors including billing errors, so I talked with the manager, Noah, who said he would correct the problem. When I returned home, I saw that I had been charged for the subbed in item I did not want nor accept--for $40. When I called the manager and complained, the Fresh Market manager, Noah, said take it up with Instacart if you want your money back--otherwise pick up a gift card when you shop next and say that Noah sent you. Do you think will work?

Love this grocery store. They've got lots of great nuts and snacks in the bins to choose from, and lots of great flowers and healthy foods.

So, my feelings on this place are mixed. I can't complain about the prices for this store directly, because it's a corporation. I saw other complaining about the prices, but the store itself is not setting the prices. What I can complain about is the set up of the products at the front of the store. When you are waiting in line there's a section of homemade bath products lingering there with you. I don't know about you, but myself and a lot of people I know, have bad allergies. When I'm stuck waiting in line, I can hardly breathe and have actually left because it was so bad. I can't stand perfume scented ANYTHING and this makes it very difficult to have to wait in their lines. Their lines. There's another issue. Why do they have one person ringing you up and another cashier standing next to them, literally being handed your groceries, just to put them into a bag that's in front of them both? It seems counter productive if anything. Also, why is the register set up the way it is? The screen is like, 50 feet away from the actual scanner. Dumb. The bakery items are AMAZING, and love the pastries. I recently had the double fudge brownies, to, die, for.

2.5 stars. I keep coming back to Fresh Market hoping and praying that it'll somehow morph into Whole Foods. Everytime I've visited I've been somewhat disappointed. Yes, it's fancy. They play classical music and everything is organic and expensive. I usually come here for lunch since I'm visiting the area for work. There's no hot food bar ::sad face::. They offer sandwiches, sushi, rotisserie chicken, some to go meals, pastas etc. There's also a bakery with fresh goods. The options are ok, but it doesn't have that wow factor that Whole Foods has.....the presentation, the diversity, the enthusiasm. The employees always seem flustered and the service is painfully slow. And maybe I shouldn't be comparing the two, but Fresh Market could use some tips. On a good note, there's a cool section in the market where you can get self serve nuts, dried fruits, candy, etc. Honestly, I don't know why I keep coming back here.

Nice store, helpful employees, I agree w/ the lady who said she feels out of place there. I also do. My hubby is blue collar and this area is mostly inhabited by the rich & privileged. The prices are OK on produce but the canned goods etc are way overpriced. The baked goods are way too sweet, so stay away from those unless you don't bake, in that case you might think they are good. But those of us who bake know better. (smile) The meats and seafood are excellent. I also find it amusing how customers, even capable strong men allow the clerks to carry their one light bag to their car! I only shop there occasionally since I'm not the typical Chadds Ford resident and like to buy on sale.

Now that there is a Whole Foods in Glenn Mills, I don't find myself at the Fresh Market as often. Also the last couple times I've been, it's been a let down in the quality of the food. However, I was craving their chocolate cake this week and wanted to celebrate my last class of graduate school being over, so I decided to go and pick some of that up along with the provolone stuffed olives I love so much from the olive bar. I was lucky enough to get the last slice of chocolate cake available. I also picked up some kalamata bread because it is excellent to use for mushrooms on toast. The place was dead, but it was a weekday after dinner, so that could be why. I got home and tasted the cake and was really sad to find out that it was stale. It was dry and the icing had hardened. So disappointing! My boyfriend said his red velvet was dry and stale as well. When you're paying almost $4.00 for a slice of cake, it should be fresh. I mean the place is called, "The Fresh Market." The olives also were not that great. The texture of the cheese was off. I don't know how fresh they were either. It was a waste of a trip. So, next time I guess I'll just stick to Whole Foods. I haven't tasted the olive bread yet. Hopefully it is fresh. I'll try to update after I try it. The service at The Fresh Market has been good the last few times I've gone. However, Fresh Market really needs to kick up their game with food quality and freshness if they are going to compete with Whole Foods.

Like others have said, this place is just a more expensive and smaller version of Whole Foods/Wegmans. I was so excited to finally have a market with hard to find items, but I refuse to pay the overinflated prices for the same items that are carried at WF. The store is surprisingly small inside and the choices are pretty limited. TJs is a better option, they just don't have fresh items like deli etc.

What a clean, beautiful, good size supermarket. It reminds me of the supermarkets in Europe. I simply love it. It is not overwhelming and the selection of everything is carefully picked. Yes it may be a bit more expensive then your chair supermarkets, but it is so much worth the experience.

I love this Fresh Market for it's friendly staff; convenient location; cleanliness, and interesting selection of unique, gourmet items. However, it often takes over a week or two to see an item restocked once it's been depleted from the shelves (this has been going on since well before COVID struck). I don't know if that is a company-wide issue or unique to this particular store. Additionally, Fresh Market charges $1-$2 more than Whole Foods for identical items (and $2-$3 more for these same items at Wegman's). So while I do love this store and find myself stopping here occasionally to pick-up a couple items I would never do any real, serious grocery shopping here given the other premium grocery options we have here in the immediate vicinity.

(3.75) ~ Good Selection of High End Gourmet Food & Beverages. Definitely a Must Stop for Fellow Foodies. However, if you're just looking for staples, than a conventional grocery store will be more economical;)lol

The first time I explored the place I was surprised by the interesting offerings. While this store doesn't have the volume of selections of a Wegmans, it fills a niche for unusual selections. So if you are looking for, say, certain kinds of bases for sauces for Chinese or Indian foods, this is your place. Meanwhile, the fresh-squeezed orange juice is half the price of Wegmans. The large piece of smoked salmon was hand-cut to the weight I wanted, and was not only delicious but was a much lower price than if had purchased the fish in those little sealed bags in one of the big stores. I love their almond cookies, and they come in a couple of choices --all delicious. There is a nice selection of Graeters Ice Cream --the best!-- and a great selection of take-out meals. My problem with this place is that when I go in for fresh-squeezed O.J., smoked salmon and Graeters, I walk out having spent $ 150.

Sadly, I am already so turned off by this place and I have never stepped foot in this seemingly hell hole. So why comment you ask? It's not for lack of better things to do, believe me. It's to hopefully provide the manager/ owner/ whomever may be in charge with a "wake up call" in regards to how powerful these reviews can be. I work for a major retailer as a buyer and know that the brick and mortar of today is a daily struggle. Here, you have the best results of "market research" at the tip of your fingers and it seems that you either are too lazy or don't care enough to be motivated to make changes ? Obviously, product wise you are doing something right which is the hardest part of retail. It's CLEAR where the problem lies, plain and simple, your employees suck. People have even written about visiting other locations where they experienced great customer service ?! This is so aggravating to me as a buyer, when part of my everyday duty is to investigate sales, service and provide solutions to make them better. You literally have all the answers you could need right under your nose. I was kind of excited to explore this market having just found out of its existence, but I'll save my gas money. If I want to experience horrible customer service I'll go to my local Walmart and save myself the gas money. PS: I would put money on the closure of this store, in particular this location, within 5 years, maybe less. Really sad, but a lot Of stores who don't invest in making customer service better, end up closing despite maybe offering great products that customers seek out. In a web-based shopping culture, it's the customer service that will retain repeat customers. I am sure there are 20 other people that are dying for jobs and can offer at least satisfactory customer service to your guests rather than the seemingly careless, unapologetic crew you have employed currently.

I shop at the Fresh Market frequently and have always been pleased with my purchases. I have shopped there for many years. The prices for meat and produce are in line with local grocery stores and local meat markets. Organic milk, breads and bakery items are also similarly priced. They often have specials that are well worth the visit. I prefer the hometown feel of this market to that of larger markets. They always have the fresh produce, meats, and bakery items I am looking for.

I was at the Shops at Brinton Lake with my family and we decided pay a visit to The Fresh Market. Wow, what a great looking store! Fresh looking produce, the joint is clean, wonderful aromas and a plethora of fancy items to select from. With a start like this, I was expecting great things. It was just before dinner time so we figured we would meander over to the deli area to see what we could find. They had quite a selection of rotisserie chickens available. One of the gentlemen behind the counter asked if I needed help and being the gentleman that I am, allowed him to assist the nice lady who was there next to me. So I got the #2 guy. This guy had the personality of a dry sponge. His appearance was questionable as well. If I were to suggest a different career for him, I would suggest that he be a tool booth coin collector. But I digress. So I asked him for one of their garlic and basil chickens, which our friend managed to pack up and hand to me without a hitch. Maybe there is hope. But he turned and walked away without trying to up sell me. Sales 101, make sure you follow up to make sure your client is taken care of. While I was doing that, my wife was purveying the pre-made salads to go along with our feast. It did look pretty with red onions, sliced cucumbers that those cute little grape tomatoes. $7.99 for the bird, $5.99 for the salad. Not too bad. We could not wait to get home and eat dinner since the car smelled of freshly made roasted chicken. So I go to cut the chicken only to find out that it is not cooked all the way through. Yup, still pink inside. Are you freaking kidding me? I didn't want to make dinner, now I have to finish what they started. I know that $7.99 is not a lot, but if you are advertising a cooked chicken, then make sure the damn thing is done! Chef's thermometer, invest in a couple of them. So 25 minutes later we have a cooked chicken. The chicken is served and we get to the pre-made salad. They should allow you to open up the salad when you are at the store. I have to imagine that they have hired makeup artists to make their salad because it looked great on the exterior, but once you got past that, they put the rest of the shit produce that nobody wants. There was a butt from a head of lettuce in it. Are you freaking kidding me? I pay $5.99 for a freaking salad and you can't keep the butts and the shitty part of the head of lettuce out of it? I once saw Chef Gordon Ramsey go ape shit over a salad that was served like that. I was close to going over the edge, luckily the kids were there. So much for this place being gourmet.

After several trips to the Fresh Market I feel the need to write a review on my experiences. On more than two occasions I stood at the deli counter ignored by the staff that were busy cleaning trays, preparing salads etc. It appeared every staff member had a job to do which didn't include serving the customer. One time I had to get the manager to get service! Today takes the cake, my husband was at the check out and he questioned the total the cashier replied,"that is what it is". My husband replied, "how much is the chicken?" She gave him the price of $19! That's impossible. The banter went back & forth. She tore off the receipt and shoved it in his face. My husbands choice of words after that could have been better chosen but she was flat out rude. My husband reported the experience to the manager, who said he would take care of it.

Mini version of Whole Foods or Wegmans, only significantly more expensive. Very clean store, helpful staff. Good bakery, but prepared food is a disappointment. A good example of this store's markup is the Olive bar. The same exact olives are $7.99 at Wegmans in Downington, $8.99 at Whole Foods in Philly and something like $13.99 or $14.99 here.

This store is beautiful, but I felt really uncomfortable in it. Maybe it's because I'm not fancy enough to shop in a grocery store like this, but I felt very under dressed, and country-bumpkinish here. Everyone was wearing business attire! In a grocery store! It was rather funny, but I just felt out of place. They have a really good selection of interesting bottled drinks, healthy cereals and higher-end foods. I wouldn't do my every day shopping here, but it was a fun experience.

This Fresh Market offers some unique bites and is definitely a great choice if your looking for a good selection of cheese, crackers, and chips. For the deli, price-wise you're probably better off going to Whole Foods or Trader Joe's.

WOW is this place expensive. I came here to grab some deli meats, but decided to pass upon seeing the prices. I did browse the store and ended up getting 2 bags of lettuce blends for $4.00. Produce is ultra pricey otherwise. $2.50 for an avocado? REALLY? $2.49 for Lipton Soup mix? If you can afford to shop here, then by all means go ahead. I got my lunchmeats at Acme instead. One star given based on prices. 2 stars based on cleanliness of store, although it seems very crowded in there.

I love this place- it's a great specialty grocery store to treat yourself- The premade items and snack mixes in the barrels are awesome!

A lot of fun to shop here! It may be a bit expensive but the high end products are usually worth it. Great atmosphere. Makes you feel at home. Candy selection is to die for and the salmon is always delicious. They do a lot for the community too.

I found Fresh Market by accident, when I visited the plaza it's located at. Organic food stores are hard to find in Delaware, therefore this was my best choice yet. I did enjoy the atmosphere: very elegant and soothing. It was a blend between WholeFoods & Traders Joes: not as big in size and selections as WholeFoods, yet bigger and duffers fervent in style than Traders Joes.

Like many reviewers, I've been fairly appalled at the low quality of the "fresh" products at Fresh Market and the exorbitant high prices. How low is the quality of their foods? I'll give you an example: Lately I've found that when I brew the coffee that they sell in bins, the result smells strongly of rubbing alcohol. I kid you not. And it's not just one variety; two were like that. Fresh Market appears to be a bad imitation of Whole Foods with higher prices and lower quality. I wish it were Whole Foods but it is not, and wishing won't change this donkey into a race horse. Alternatives nearby include: Trader Joe's on 202 down in Delaware. Giant Foods on 202 a few miles north. ACME across the street.

Most of the items are expensive and the produce isn't always fresh, but every Tuesday I go because of 2.99 tuesdays. U can't beat antibiotic free chicken for 2.99 follow the specials and shop them.

I live in the area and will shop here now and again. Mostly for the seafood and some specialty crackers or the bins of nuts. My son and I once ordered a sandwich for lunch and the young man who was making it must not have felt like working that day. It was almost (almost!) comical how slow he moved about making these sandiwches. It took forever. I thought he might be wanting us to give up and just go away. The bakery is a disappointment. Limited options for birhtday cakes. 4 flavors - 2 of which are chocolate (red velvet and a choc) and 2 which contained coconut which my family hates. And only one size for a round cake - 8". The girl taking the order acted like I was an irritant to place the order. I'm not going back when there is a Whole Foods due to open up down the road. The seafood counter has always been a good experience although the food is expensive. It is the only reason why I did not give this place a 1 star rating.

Definitely the best of the three upscale super markets within a mile of each other (Whole Foods and Wegmans are the others). The Fresh Market is very tastefully decorated and well laid out. Varied background music and a moderate sound levels. Plenty of space. Top butcher department with good staff. Vegetables are always fresh and not over watered as they are in the chains. Adequate bakery and top dairy. For a store of this size the selections of can goods, cards and flowers, and staples are very well chosen. What's not to like? Seafood does not have the freshness or variety of Whole Foods or Hills (why not partner with Hills?). Although FM has the best choice of dried pasta in the area, there's none fresh. Parking is never a problem, as it can be at Wegmans and Whole Foods, and The Fresh Market delivers. If you ask, you will get personal assistance. In sum, class, quality, traditional approach. If I could give it another half star I would.

I am giving a less than stellar review because of an incident that happened to me. On September 10th I was in the store selecting some baked goods when an employee pushing a large cart of chicken ran into me. My back was turned so of course I didn't see her approaching and the employee and full cart ran into my left ankle/heel. The pain was so strong I could do nothing but cry out, then I was silent trying to get composed. Luckily the skin up the back of my heel and ankle was only scraped off up to about 5 inches, but no deep cuts. It took a long time for the store manager to arrive and see if I wanted a bandage. She took my name in phone number saying that the corporate office would give me a call to investigate. So far I have not received a call. I wont be back for a very long time.

Smells good. Everything is great there. Very expensive. If they could make their items go down in price I'd rate it 5 stars.

Food often isn't that fresh and prices are high. A few days ago, I was the only customer at the prepared food counter. All three employees looked right at me and ignored me. You get similar treatment at the meat and bakery counter. Only the sushi people treat the customers respectfully.

There is so little actual organic stuff here--and its all over priced. I found more organic stuff at Giant in Dilworthtown. Just because they have dim lighting and pay classical music doesn't mean they have healthy food. Once WEgmans goes in next door I doubt this place will be open.

We ventured in the store to compare prices with Whole Foods, as soon as we walked in my husband looks at me and our eyebrows raise suddenly. We made a 360 degree turn and left. The place is too dark, it feels depressing to be in there, even the outdoor night markets in Thailand are better lit. How does anybody see in there, It feels like a dark alley, I had to literally squint. The workers did not seem too happy as well, needless to say we will not be back and will stay with Whole Foods/Trader Joes and wait for Wegemans.

Fresh Market is my favorite grocery store by far. The produce is always fresh and nothing is overpriced. On tuesdays they have sales on certain cuts of meat and the meat is superior to whole foods. They also have great sushi and premade food. Another plus is it is right next to costco

I shop here all the time. I think the prices are good. It is not my everyday grocer, but the meats and produce are always high quality, fresh, and have good prices. I don't believe they are meant to be compared to Wegman's or Whole Foods, so I don't. They are a successful chain on the Eastern Seaboard, and I believe they are supposed to be small. I love their Kona coffee. It is very pleasant inside, and the staff is very nice and helpful. I don't care for their already cooked meat, but their fresh meats are excellent. Don't know why all the hatin', except that others are probably employees of the other grocery stores.
