I give Fresh Market, Michael the store Manger and the Lovely cashier and the fellas in Produce..and Jr in the fish dept - a 100% satisfied ALWAYS!!!
You guys are GREAT!!
I ended up at your store today, after Pop's disappointed me again - bad review for them turned out to be great one for you... so here you go....
I'm giving Pop's the minimum rating after 8yrs of living in E Boca. I'm a great cook & love to entertain. We love doing seafood boils, fresh fish filets in packets w veggies, fish kabobs, fresh lobster and I have a killer salmon recipe. They consistently disappoint!
In the past Pop's is ALWAYS very overpriced and the stuff does NOT look very good. Being in Hillsboro, you would think they would be a little nicer...than Boca
Consistently rude, put out to answer questions, and pretty much treat me like I'm an intrusion in their day.
I had an incidence on Monday where some handsome EMT's for Deerfield beach, drove me home in their special red bus. I insisted on repaying the favor by making them dinner. I stopped by the firehouse and we settled on Sunday 5:00pm and I would be bringing them my Firecracker salmon, mange rice, and apple crisp with vanilla ice cream! All home made ... no wines/beer allowed says the captain :)
Knowing I would be needing about 6 lbs of salmon, set out to tell the story to some lucky fishmonger...lets do a good thing and feed the EMT's together on Sunday.. I support our socially distant dinner club in order to support local business. I worked 3 yrs for the boca Museum and a year before I retired for Temple Beth El...shopping locally, non profits, fundraising, economy, corona, race riots... I do my part by PROMOTE EMPHATHY!! Daily belly laugh and next meal. Try not to take myself too seriously! Ha!
Thinking they'de take $1 off the $17.99/lb for some slimy looking (old and mealy) or even offer a gift certificate for the guys,... rudely they stared at me, the two of them...and I can converse. I asked so .."yes or no?...can you help me out . NO! was their flat answer... No problem, Jimmy, the store manager at Publix would be happy to be involved, but their fish can be wonderful or okay at times.
So, I headed to Fresh Market FIRST, all being within 3 miles of each other.
I asked the cashier as I walked in - she paged Michael, who I asked to meet me at fish counter. By the time I got back there...Michael was waiting for me - No problem he says,,,I got you! I won't be here Sunday but my two managers on duty will take care of you. The salmon looked way better than Pop's and only $12.99/lb (Pops always overpriced for the look of their seafood) He went on to enthusiastically help me pick out mangoes for the rice. He even got me a basket when my hands got too full.,..(maybe I should cut & paste as positive review for fresh market)
Pop's fish market missed out on an opportunity today to pay forward in the community. We are S Florida with highest covid numbers and tension fills the air with boarded up businesses afraid to be held up. Many have armed security. We need to be positive, get a belly laugh daily and worry about our next meal. The basics.
Policemen, Emt's , firefighters(my son-in -law volunteers at 3different stations and at 21 yr age started recovering bodies out of the schkuykill river in Philadelphia) go underappreciated... too bad for you Pops you didn't recognize a chance to pay it forward for someone else!
I recommend Dixie seafood, when you want to spend a bit extra on Dixie Hwy north of hillsboro - great fresh fish - fantastic service - they often throw things in for free when I buy my usual over abundance. In season open , and with covid ...
Mid range would be fresh Market - fabulous clean place - small grocery - while you can't get canned goods, cleaning products ... anything for dinner is here with lots of specials and ideas for dinner. Michael the store Manager helped me out today when Pops absolutely flatly refused!
Didn't need to go onto Publix, but I'd bet money Jimmy would absolutely do something for the guys...
Tomorrow , Superior will repair a window tint - Jason the owner has already told me he is not charging me for it...he did my husbands car a few months back..
I have ordered hoagies tray for his guys from Publix.. just another way to pay forward in these difficult times
and spread joy & practice empathy !!
BTW, I'm the crazy lady that insists on buying the cashier & bagger ( or pharmacy staff) a candy bar when I go thru the checkout. Some of the fellas pick chips instead!
