"With locations in Kendall Square, Back Bay, and beyond, this Portsmouth-based mini-chain has a funky diner vibe and a heaping serving of cavatappi and cheese, topped with biscuit crumbs. It can also come with grilled chicken and broccoli; grilled chicken, Buffalo sauce, tomato, blue cheese crumbles, and scallions; or scrambled eggs, ham, and tater tots. Plus, there’s a vegan version with mushrooms, peppers, spinach, and scallions." - Dana Hatic

It's great for brunch, and even more so if you are a fan of cocktails! I've eaten here 3 times in my life (the first a few years ago), and I really like the spread and diversity of breakfast and brunch foods they've got. Every time I'm back in Boston, this is one of the places I consider for eats. I don't recall what I got the first time (my memory is a bit goldfish-like), but I got the chicken and waffles the second time (warning, this is HUGE) and the potato skillet the third (mostly because I was searching for an option without eggs since I already ate an egg that morning). It's got a very lively environment, but can be a bit tight if you bring a big coat (really only a winter concern). Wait wasn't bad any of the times I went, but I hear it can be hefty.

Great retro themed atmosphere and fun menu. Service was okay, our waitress didn't seem too interested and felt rushed. Prices were fair. The food was good, I got the vegan pancakes but was a little disappointed because I ordered one banana and one chocolate chip but received only one banana and one regular pancake. The food for our table, mostly pancakes, took a while too. I know Boston loves Saturday brunch, however, thought it could've been faster service.... And I wasn't crazy about the pancakes. They also only had soy milk as the non-dairy creamer option for the coffee, which was so-so. I would've expected a place like this in the middle of Cambridge, which boasts a variety of vegan menu options to have something other than soy milk (almond, oat, cashew, etc.). Overall, not bad but not the best. It was also very crowded and we had to wait for a bit, though they do have a photo booth in the waiting area.

A large brunch spot with indoor and outdoor sitting options. They offer a variety of food including vegan options. Though I’m not a vegan, I am lactose intolerant so I tried the vegan nacho cheese and it was delicious! You wouldn’t even know it wasn’t real cheese. Also enjoyed my omelet very much. The only downside is that the portions are huge—if that is ever a problem 😉

Wow. No really, wow. The Friendly Toast is one of the best, if not the best dining experiences we have had in quite a while. A fantastic menu loaded with multiple creative dishes. Everyone in our party of six ordered different meals, and we were all delighted with them. There is really nothing that you can order here that doesn't work. Environment is positive, open, and real. 1950s Kitsch design motif throughout the restaurant doesn't detract and works perfectly. Location is in the middle of a huge and impersonal Industrial business area , so it's not a human scaled place outside. But once you get inside... It's magic!

This is a great breakfast place! We have never been here for anything other than breakfast so I cannot comment on lunch or dinner but if you love a good omelette with a wonderful Bloody Mary then this is the place for you to go. Our waitress today was Chloe and she was the most friendly person we've met in all of Boston we would return anytime.

Amazing place to eat for some comfort food, or for a night out with friends. I got the gluten free banana pancakes and they were amazing. The prices were reasonable (even for the alcohol) and the staff was super friendly. The tester ain’t had a very unique atmosphere, but that just adds to it all. Would definitely recommend if you are in the area.

We were able to use the no wait app to make our reservation which was great. The brunch cocktails were good, definitely going to try the flight next time. I got the potato skillet with poached eggs - they don't lie, it is literally a plate of potatoes. They were tasty, but the taco after party was a little better.

The ambiance is friendly. The staff is very social. The food is good, but I have to admit that the taste was not exactly what I was expecting for the price I have paid. Thankfully I was alone, so I was able to sit at the bar, but for 2 person or more, there was a lot of wait. Overall a good place, to go.
