I visited the North Andover location on Father’s Day and it was packed. I was able to get a seat at the bar as I was by myself and within a few minutes the few seats left were full. The bartender greeted me promptly giving me time with the menu. I forget which mimosa I ordered but it was tasty. I got the egg rolls (not pictured because I devoured them) and the everything bagel aoli on there is literally everything. So good I’ll be ordering them again for sure! I also got the breakfast burrito and I believe I added chorizo and side of bacon. The only reason I didn’t finish it was because the portions are so generous! The manager was hard at work and visible throughout my visit helping her team. I don’t typically venture away from the eggs Benedict but I’m still thinking about this meal 2 weeks later so I wanted to write a review!

firstly, i’ll say its always a good time every time i visit here. the service is always great as well. unfortunately, since finding out about the changes to the menu, i may not frequent here as much. the chorizo benny was a top menu item and am deeply disappointed to see it gone. I sometimes order the rice bowl or chicken and waffles which i would like to suggest to have an option of no onions in the roasted poblano corn for allergy purposes! but nonetheless i ordered the breakfast street tacos and i will say that while it is delicious, the presentation is not practical. impossible to eat without it all falling apart and should at least be a standard to double the tortillas if you’re going to use corn tortillas. as for the drinks, the açaí mimosa and marg flight were pretty good (except for the spicy watermelon). good food and do recommend but it may not be our go-to spot anymore.

I’ve loved the friendly toast for years, but really disappointed by the constant menu changes. Every time I enjoy a menu item, it gets removed. (The cheese grits, the breakfast empanadas, the spicy cheddar toast, the New Hampshire scramble changed from Brussels sprouts and goat cheese to broccoli, bell pepper, and feta…tell me how that is even close to the same thing?, the Highway strawberry, and most recently…the everything bagel breakfast sandwich with the herb cream cheese, sausage, tomato, greens, hash brown, egg etc.) Anyways, after being disappointed that my fav breakfast sandwich I specifically came here for instead of another place was gone, ordered a $3 “side of avocado” and was given this much…that’s kind of a little ridiculous. I get avocados are like 3$, but even serving 1/4 of an avocado would have been more worth it if you wanted to make a profit off of it. This was like 1/16th or less. Otherwise, the food is always great quality, the staff is always friendly and the wait times are never long.

My family comes here's 1-2 times per month which includes two kids under 5 years of age. They are very accommodating and the service is pretty quick which is appreciated with the patience of young kids. Sarah waited on us the last two times and provided great service, was kind, and again quick to take our order and get food to the table. The food is nothing out of this world, but the atmosphere is great for the family. The breakfast adult beverages are tasty!

The friendly toast is very good with amazing food and reasonable prices. I would recommend to try the everything Sando. It is Very good and if you’re in an empty belly, will fill you up. Come here!

This was our second time at this location. It’s nice you can make a reservation, we have a large family of 7. Made a reservation for today at 11am. We were sat, our order was taken and it took a full HOUR for our food to hit the table. We flagged our waitress down a few times and she said they had a few large parties and the kitchen was backed up. I’m sorry, but it’s breakfast…our food came out 10 minutes after she told us it was “coming right out”. The food hits the table and one entire meal is missing. It was then another 15 minutes for this meal to come out. Completely mind blowing. Then we finish and ask her for the check, another 20 minutes and our server, Rachel, was no where to be found. My dad flagged her down and gave her our credit card and she said she was “waiting for a computer to open up”. So many excuses but we had been seated for an hour & 45 minutes and we just wanted to leave. Our check had a 20% gratuity added since we had a party over 6 people and lucky for Rachel because she was MIA for our entire visit. We had to ask other servers for silverware and hot sauce since she never came over again. It was Father’s Day and they were busy, but the manager never came over and the food was “meh”. Totally not worth the $300 we spent on breakfast for 7 people. Much better breakfast / brunch places out there.

Google
We were able to get right in and sit at the bar at 10:45. We ordered then waited until 11:15 for the food, which was scooped-casserole-dish scrambled eggs, toast, bacon and hash browns. The bartender was inattentive, though the bar wasn't half full, to get a coffee refill. The food was underwhelming (this is a generous term). What we hoped would be a bit of an elevated brunch ended up worse than a greasy spoon diner, particularly because of the price. We didn't have alcoholic drinks but the menu did look good for drinks. We were able to pay by app.

I’ve been here twice, both times the waiter heavily recommended adding a tip, once “for the kitchen” and the other was for her specifically (two separate people) and she even asked if her service was bad. for that 2nd time, me and my 4 friends had split our bill and 2/4 tipped, so she essentially singled out the two that didn’t. did not feel welcoming and personable. the first time i went the food was pretty good but expensive given i only ordered 1 entree and a drink (somehow spent ~$35) and the drink i got was very good. so good in fact that when i returned a year later, i got that exact drink and it was noticeably smaller (although nothing crazy) and a slightly darker color. my friend got the same one though and it looked more like what i had the first time. thus the drinks seem to be made inconsistent. the food the 2nd time around was very average, i could genuinely make it myself and have it taste the exact same way. their fries were undersalted or something as it didn’t taste like anything, the hash brown had too much black pepper also :( TLDR; waiters will insist on tip and not in a remotely kind or subtle way, food is average at best and drinks are of inconsistent quality.

Yelp
Server was fantastic! The food was great and we were able to sit at a table for 8. We used the venue for an informal business meeting and I'd go again!

Justin B.

Yelp
The food was really good I just couldn't believe how expensive it was. Breakfast sandwich on a bagel with like a small side of home fries was 16 dollars

Yelp
Service was prompt Friendly Menu variety awesome and uniquely different our waitress was funny and most importantly our food was delicious

Yelp
Good menu, yummy food, very good service, good vibes. What more could one expect from a super breakfast experience? Oh yeah, the good company. Highly recommend.

Amanda B.

Yelp
Bacon was not good...was like jerky. Eggs were undercooked...but the pancakes and home fries were yummy. The basil aioli was different and yummy! And the pancakes came with real maple syrup! The bathroom was comfortable and toasty lol. Our waitress was nice too. Cool place and good atmosphere.

Yelp
YUM. I have been to the Cambridge location before but never this one. Very spacious here and fun decorations in friendly toast fashion. The food was great and menu had a LOT of options that I was v interested in. I ended up getting the Medley Crue, add avocado which was DELISH. Our server was great, the only gripe I had was that it took a LONG time to be seated on a Tuesday at 12ish. There was 8 of us, but a lot of tables empty - I get it people are short staffed and can't fill their tables but from arrival to departure j think we were here for just under two hours. Which I'm all for on a Saturday morning when I have all the time in the world. Anyways, I'll be back to dive more into this menu but this place sure does get busy.

Mike J.

Yelp
The food is good but the entire place reeks of bacon grease every time we go in there. When we get home we need to put our clothes in the wash. It's very off-putting to dine in a smoky room breathing grease and coming home smelling like it. Fix your kitchen vent system maybe. Service is usually good but sometimes our food takes forever to come out when the restaurant is not even busy.

Yelp
Having eaten at their Portsmouth restaurant as many times as possible, I was excited to visit this Friendly Toast, and I was not disappointed. We took advantage of the Yelp "Get On The Waitlist" option, which allowed our commute time to reduce our actual wait time there by about 2/3. The restaurant is huge (it was previously a Fuddruckers) and the decor is fun**3. The menu is pretty much the same at all of their restaurants, meaning way too many good choices. This time I went with their classic Monster Breakfast. Our meals came out quickly, and everything was, of course, delicious. One thing that surprised me was that instead of servers coming around with carafes to refill your coffee, each time you wanted more, you got a fresh cup. We had a terrific server as well, which made the experience even better. When I'm in the area, there are places I could get to more quickly for breakfast/brunch, but I'd rather take the few extra minutes and drive here.

Carolyn C.

Yelp
Food was good. Definitely worth a reservation. Service was great and the decor is so fun to look at.

Yelp
Very friendly as well as quick service from a large menu. Great breakfast at an affordable price. I visited maybe twice or three times even. I my wife and baby both are quite a bit and enjoyed it. We had first busy and the 12 of us were quickly waited on and got exactly what we wanted very quickly. I feel like if your looking for a quality and fast breakfast for the family-this is it. You have enough time to get comfortable in your birth, enough options to enjoy what you want and your out the door at a pace that makes sense

John D.

Yelp
Horrible, slow service, burned home fries, eggs over easy that were over hard and burned on the edges, thick cut bacon burned on the edges and chewy in the middle. Had to ask for more coffee. Kids pancakes plain had chocolate on them.... Do not go to this location.
google avatar

Gina M.

Yelp
Fun environment. Friendly and attentive staff. Classics and unique food and drink offerings. Love the flights of champagne and summer cocktails. All good fresh, hot and made to order. Definitely use their waitlist app to avoid long waits!
google avatar

Gloria L.

Yelp
The drinks are the thing to go for when you're here. I got the seasonal special - drunken pumpkin latte. It was strong while still being exactly what it's advertised as, a spiked pumpkin latte. The Irish red eye had a rich coffee taste and it is a must have. Great way to start the brunch! The food was just regular breakfast food, but what set them apart are the home fries! They're so well seasoned and flavorful, I could literally just eat a bowl of those. The pancakes weren't as fluffy as they could be , but they weren't bad.
google avatar

Karen C.

Yelp
Great service. But food in my opinion, way below average. My eggs were dry. I asked for cheese in them but I couldn't taste or see any. Portions could be better.
google avatar

Jennifer C.

Yelp
The food was absolutely delicious! The waitress was really nice. The place was really busy, but we had a good time. It was child-friendly, which is always a plus. I highly recommend.
google avatar

Bao Tran N.

Yelp
I love their food so much but the kitchen always messes up my order if I change it in any way.
google avatar

Darren M.

Yelp
Once on their bad side they punish you the entire visit. Latensitting, late waiter, appetizers never came, food took forever. And the manager let's you know she is aware things are taking so long. Other tables that seated after us finished before we even got outnfood.

Betty D.

Yelp
I ordered a hot coffee, scrambled eggs, crispy bacon, toasted english muffin, and sweet potato fries. The only thing that was good was the eggs. The coffee was ICE cold, the english muffin was cold and untoasted. The bacon was like shoe leather, and finally the sweet potatoe fries had so much peppers, onions and some other spice, that there was no sweet potato taste at all. I'll be scratching this place off my list permanently.

Yelp
Good place to brunch with the family specially if you have kids! Great atmosphere and good food

Michelle R.

Yelp
Kitschy decor. Delicious food. Interesting tasty drinks. Friendly fast service. Now I have to type extra stuff for it to let me submit my review.
google avatar

Pam H.

Yelp
Churro bites!!! 'Nuff said!!! Seriously, the atmosphere is comfortable, the staff "friendly," and a wide variety of options. Lot's of vegan/gluten-free choices. Finally, a lovely assortment specials from the bar!! Prices are very reasonable!
google avatar

Hannah M.

Yelp
Fun and good for kids Good food Good service Noisy but not tooooo loud Old school diner with upscale menu (and prices )
google avatar

Phyllis J.

Yelp
The food is over priced, the service is lacking, and it doesn't taste very good. For the amount of money you pay, I would expect more.
google avatar

Nikk S.

Yelp
Super cute breakfast place with lots of fun, interesting decor inside. This is a very busy spot, but it is because it is in a good location near lots of local businesses, and the food is great! I love the mimosa flights. I like the avocado toast and you really can't go wrong with the classic basic breakfast (eggs, toast, tots, and bacon or sausage).

Liz H.

Yelp
So fun and great service! Our server was very friendly and attentive. Brunch drinks were delicious!

Roy C.

Yelp
Good food, great friendly service. A little expensive but worth the cost. Crowded but not too long of a wait.

Yelp
I went to the North Andover location for brunch today around 12:30. Not only was the food great, as always, but the ladies working at the bar where I sat were exceptional! Shawna was my server, and Jess was working the bar as well. They were extremely busy but were so attentive and kind. Service was exceptional and the food and drink were great. Friendly Toast is fortunate to have these two women serving their customers!
google avatar

Leah B.

Yelp
I went here with my family this morning for a late breakfast. I got the eggs Benedict and it was delicious, only thing I'd say about it was I would have wished there was a little more hash in it. The sampler was absolutely amazing and I loved the churro bites that came with it. My brother got the smash burger and it was great, the patty was cooked just right and it was very filling. The only downside I would say for this restaurant is the time, we got there at about 11:30 and we got our food at 1. As we were sitting down we saw others around us that arrived after us got there food before ours which was kind of confusing because we only got 3 dishes. Other then that the staff was extremely friendly and the dining area was so cool to see all the interesting interior design. We will be returning!
google avatar

Jonathan C.

Yelp
A Belgian waffle with fresh berries and whipped cream? YES, PLEASE! Quite possibly the best I've ever had. I think the whipped cream was home made. It was delightful. Service was also superb. ( I sat at the bar). Only two issues with this place: it's on the pricey side, though it is definitely nice inside; the iced coffee I got to go was not good, though possibly it's my fault for trying oat milk? Anyway, I will definitely be back. Maybe they can earn the elusive fifth star?
google avatar

Rebecca B.

Yelp
Quick to be seated, friendly service, pickle bloody Mary was really good. The BLT was awful though (hardly any substance, soggy toast).
google avatar

Susan B.

Yelp
The food, the service the atmosphere is what earned this fun lil spot 5 stars! We were greeted and sat fairly quickly around 11:30 on a Saturday! Our server was so nice! We started with 2 "flights" rather strong for me my 2 dining companions enjoyed them fully!! I highly recommend this location. We started with an app I forgot to take a pic! Lol get the Apetize Me Captain! Lil bites of 3 apps! Cheese sauce in the tots is to die for!!!

Bonnie G.

Yelp
Bad pricing, worst understanding of serving customers and honestly I wish I could say the food was good, but I cannot. I am so tired of business entitlement and price abuse like the experience I had with them. You go in to order a togo of Monster Breakfast 2 eggs, 1 pancake, bacon and home fries and oj for $19. Plus the cost of OJ. You adjust the order to what you really want: 1 egg, 2 pancake, home fries and bacon and OJ. Price change 17. and change. Pick up order and get 2 pancakes, 1 egg, NO bacon and No homes fries- really? You call to say, "I don't have a complete order". They say, Yes you do but we did forget to give you your OJ- really?? No more From me.

Jaycob P.

Yelp
I tried this place for the first time today and I will never go again. There was dead ants in my syrup which was poured onto my pancakes. When bringing this issue up to the manager he wanted to solve the problem by assuring us he would check the syrup before leaving the kitchen from now on. He also wanted us to still pay for our meal, then after some back and forth he then said he could take the food off but still made us pay for our drinks. Absolutely disgusted that they think ants in their food is acceptable.
google avatar

John T.

Yelp
Wanted to like this place more, I mean Breakfast all day! Nuf said. First prob, we both got Benedict. GF's English muffin crust she couldn't cut through with a serrated steak knife. I got the smoked salmon Benedict & the heat from the egg cooked the salmon. Both of us didn't feel to well after. Not blaming the food because who knows how you get sick sometimes.Naidy E was our server. She was quick & kept asking about our drinks. Just what I want. We will prob give it another try.

Thomas C.

Yelp
Listen. You guys. This place is great. But what makes it the only breakfast I got to is the bartender Shawna. Shawna has a great personality and she remembers her customers and anticipates everything we need. This woman needs recognition, she's the reason my fiancé and I come back!!!!

Kim K.

Yelp
Excellent food! Great service. Love that I can get in line in advance. The selection of items is expansive-something for everyone
google avatar

Erika C.

Yelp
AMAZING. Who doesn't love some friendly toast? This place is so rad. We checked in on the Yelp waitlist and we were seated pretty quickly, I like how you can see where you are on the waitlist through the app - suspenseful. Service was awesome, great atmosphere and tunes. Food - DELISH. Hash browns are out of this world good. A nice addition to the area. Note : parking is kind of a shitshow. Support local. Bravo!
google avatar

Kerrie L.

Yelp
Food is fantastic. Service is great and the atmosphere has a great vibe. Tater tots are AMAZING!!

Debbi S.

Yelp
The restaurant was cute and retro. Waitress was pretty good. Food was good but didn't blow us away. Pretty much like any competitor. Expensive for breakfast. was disappointed ordering a cold brew and it came out in a can and was not good at all
google avatar

William S.

Yelp
we are big fans of Friendly Toast. we initially found this place in Portsmouth and loved it. The updated yard sale diner vibe is lots of fun. here we are today in Andover. so let's chat a bit about how this is going. Not as great really. Food quantity seems to be taking a hit with expansion. My food is not nearly what I had on my other visits. additionally the staff at the Andover facility seem a bit disconnected. When staff makes customers feel like they are not part of the group it takes it's toll.
google avatar

Donald F.

Yelp
100% our Must Host place when we have out-of-town guests? THE TOAST! Always busy means worth the wait. With creative breakfast omelets and "bloodies" everywhere it's hard to pick but: Sclarmageddon is a good place to start. Don't research, just order one! Order a bloody flight ; I cannot pick 1 fav!

Tom T.

Yelp
The food is pretty good. The serving size is small. And it's expensive. Service is inconsistent
google avatar

Carrie P.

Yelp
Great food great service & wonderful company . The Oreo pancakes were scrumptious . Definitely going back again.
google avatar

Elyse B.

Yelp
Visited this new location for brunch. We were immediately sat. There were a bunch of large parties and bar seating. The restaurant atmosphere is unique and eclectic. They were playing 90s music which immediately had me sold on arrival. Recommendations: Order the mimosa flights, Bloody Mary (made in house), and bacon.
google avatar

Rhys D.

Yelp
Usually enjoy this place but I went outside my order of the Chorizo Benny and got two Monster Breakfasts. Go anywhere else for a full breakfast. My eggs, which were ordered over-easy were fried and hard, while also managing to be cold. My boyfriend got his scrambled, and thought they were fine. They ration the syrup here, a small ramekin instead of bottles. The home fries were tiny charred bits of potato. Sausage patties were fine. Boyfriend got two sad bits of bacon with his Monster Breakfast. Churro bites were delicious, French toast and pancakes were good, but for much better portions, prices, and eggs, go down the road to Fari's.
google avatar

Gloriluz R.

Yelp
Food is yummy. Had the buff chicken grilled cheese but substituted the buff chicken with honey chicken from The other sandwich they have. Also less pickled onions so sandwich wouldn't be soggy. But honestly no wait, it's new to the area and it's so yummy. Went with sister and kids. Had their espresso martini mock up drink and it was sweet so it was good. No very creamy so if you like your martini on the creamier side you might not like it. Oh and for appetizer we had the powdered donuts and it was delicious. Come with chocolate sauce and a strawberry jalapeño sauce !!!
google avatar

Ralph C.

Yelp
Service is not their strong point. The food is low quality diner food. Arrived after a long wait and cold. If you like noise this is the place.

Genesis M.

Yelp
Im coming back Shauna and Lisa was great, the food was great, drinks was great. Thank you for treating us good, making us fit right in.

Jennifer L.

Yelp
This is my husband and my go-to brunch place. Great service, food and drink! We live close and are regulars, coming many times a week. We usually sit at the bar and always have the best service from Shauna and Jess!
