"The Frog & The Peach is New Brunswick’s farm-to-table bistro, founded in 1983 by Rutgers grads Jim Black and Betsy Alger, owned since 2012 by chef Bruce Lefebvre. It offers lunch, dinner, and Sunday brunch, with prix fixe menus of several courses. Special events are the order of the day, including an annual peach tasting." - Robert Sietsema

I wanted to celebrate, and took my husband out to lunch. We were delighted to discover that oysters were $1/each, and started with a dozen each. I was already getting full and so I ordered the ahi tuna appetizer. Dale had the scallops. We were delighted with the experience, and ordered a dessert to share

We had a "splurge" night and went for the 5 course tasting menu with the wine pairing. Every dish had a peach component, which was lovely. By the end, I was feeling like the sweetness was a bit overwhelming... but all 5 dishes were memorable. The service was impeccable. They gave us the right amount of attention and we felt cared for, but never rushed. Overall... It was an excellent meal. Was it $200pp excellent? Probably not. Though the wine pairings were all lovely, I would say probably not worth the extra $95. I will look forward to coming back and doing another tasting menu! (Though I'll stick to ordering a glass or two of wine off the menu.)

We took my 96 year old father in law to dinner here at his request as he had heard great things about this restaurant for many years. My husband made the reservation so I'm not sure if the restaurant asked about patrons who might need any special accommodation. At 96 my FIL still walks (with a cane) but can't climb a flight of stairs. When we arrived we were told our table was upstairs and there wasn't an elevator. When we explained to the maitre d that it would be impossible he said we could wait and we'd be seated after a large group left the area to the left of the bar. So, we sat at the bar for about 30 minutes waiting for our table. Once we were seated our waitperson came to take our drink order. My husband asked for a small sample of the two different IPAs that were on tap so my FIL could taste them and make a choice. His response was that they were "too busy". I have never had a waitperson - even in the most divy bars - refuse to give us a small sample. The food was fine - the octopus salad was ok...the sea bass with oyster coating had a strong flavor that I found unpleasant. The duck was probably the best duck I had ever tasted. So, in sum, we were hugely disappointed. A restaurant of that caliber should certainly determine if patrons can navigate stairs at the time of the reservation and a waitperson should NEVER tell a customer that they were too busy to provide a sample of beer. The food certainly wan't worth being treated in such a dismissive manner.

Excellent warm bread, tuna tartare, lobster bisque and the creme Brule was very light in consistency, however I would say it was one of the best I ever had. Scallops were small, however the whole dish had very good balance with some sushi rolls and excellent combination of greens. My husband liked the lamb, which I did not try.

My family has raved about this place, so I was excited to join them this year for Thanksgiving dinner. I selected menu options that seemed like unique yet odd pairings I would not cook at home. Sadly, ingredients I hoped to surprisingly coalesce ended up as mishegas (see photos): app -Octopus with polenta, porcini and stracciatella; entrée -NJ Sea Scallops with butternut squash, brussels, pickled shallots, white peppercorn sauce; dessert -Fig newton with walnuts, caramelized fig iced cream, port reduction. The octopus was cooked wonderfully, and was the star of the evening. Its accompaniments, however, were disjointed, and the flavors did not complement each other (see image) The scallops were smaller than I expected (small for "sea scallops"), and they were not seared, not delicate and were wildly over-salted - I used my bread to mop the sauce off the scallops to try and make them more edible. They were so salty that they were spicy. The sides were ridiculous to serve with scallops. They were sides for a meat dish (see image). The fig newton was dry, the ice cream was not creamy and was riddled with ice chips. The walnuts were nice (see image). The good: Service (very good), wine, ambiance, warm bread with flavored butter (excellent), and the company.

I wanted to treat my grandmother to a nice dinner for thanksgiving and this place seemed really nice. The atmosphere is warm and lively, the servers are friendly and accommodating. I enjoyed our servers hospitality and attentiveness. They were also very personable. To say the food was good is an understatement. My grandma was singing its praises. It seemed the night was going perfect until we were requesting the valet (who are also great by the way). The hostess who got a table worked out for us, came up to the front with a receipt, gathering attention and a crowd, to declare that gratuity isn’t included and held a pen near me with the receipt thrust in my face, being aggressive about adding one right then and there for all to see, as if I hadn’t just paid nearly 200$ and was some criminal trying to dine and dash. Note that the menu itself was misleading to me; It said the cost/+gratuity…Nowhere did it say, what I usually see at restaurants of this scale which is the words (gratuity not included). At other restaurants it always says that clearly. ‘gratuity not included’ If the price is listed and says ‘plus’ gratuity then to me that means the gratuity is included with the cost its next to, otherwise why but a plus sign there. This was for the thanksgiving menu so maybe their normal ones say it (gratuity not included) but I didn’t see that on this one so it was an honest mistake. And even if it was there and I just missed it, creating such a scene was not warranted. The professional thing to do is to pull a guest to the side, quietly and politely inquire about the lack of gratuity and possible reasoning and then accept whatever the guest is able to do. But making a spectacle at the front door for a tip is cheap, classless, basic, and pathetic. And having a token guard dog employee do it while others watch in the wings is down right ghetto. I was so shocked by what was happening that I could barely process my thoughts fast enough and before I knew it my grandmother had already handed over her card to pay a tip and the employee made a whole song and dance about charging it with one cent; complete with receipts (how thorough!) Not to mention, when, in my agitation I gave an amount I thought was fair given the disrespect we were receiving, this individual offers the number in percent…still trying to get more in a shameless ploy that tested my patience. If I say 20, 30, or 40 dollars, do not chime in with “percent?”. I say what I mean and I mean what I say. Especially when it comes to money. It was absolutely ridiculous. I did my best to save face since I didn’t want to upset my grandmother but even she said later on that the manner in which everything went in the end was ‘messy’. And to bring up at one point the question of whether I left out the gratuity on purpose? That is beyond crossing a line and I’m disgusted that I even wasted my time being cordial and didn’t just take my receipt and crumble it up. It’s all well and good to want to protect your employees who rely on tips, but there’s a right way and a wrong way to do this and tonight was a perfect example of the ‘wrong’ way. You don’t do this at the expense of guest experience. It is the guests that even keep this place open. I have never been treated like this at a slightly expensive restaurant in my entire life. I usually don’t even do reviews where I eat, but for this place I will make an exception. This was my first and last time coming here.

My husband and I dined here for my birthday on June 13th and it was a grand experience. I was curious how it was going to be because The Frog and The Peach has been around forever, and the last time we went was in the early 2000's . We enjoyed our meals with wine pairing. Our server Donaciano was well versed on the wine that was recommended per course. The food was prepared to perfection, my favorite was the cauliflower curry soup. Atmosphere was calm and inviting, and the service was impeccable. As a person who has experience in high end luxury services, there is a fine line between service feeling inviting and special or complete snobbery. Our experience was inviting and special. We loved it.

Yelp
Picked the place for a business lunch. It's tucked in at the end of a block and the street is permit parking only. They have a small parking lot if you are lucky. I like the old timer bar and the dark dining room. We were there on a sunny day so the sunroom was the perfect setting. The service is very professional and the menu is interesting. We were having a hard time deciding what to get and when we heard the lunch special we immediately jumped on the specials. From the dishes we had (2 apps, 2 main, and 2 deserts) it seems anything you order could not go wrong. I enjoyed my dining experience very much. But it was a business lunch so I couldn't get the full vibe. Would be happy to return and explore more.

Yelp
Once an old industrial building that housed printing presses, and also a leather suitcase handle factory, this space was gutted and made into a fine dining establishment that has since been regarded as one of the "Top 30 Restaurants in NJ". It's tucked away on a small cul-de-sac and it always surprises me how different it feels from the busy streets of New Brunswick. Having dined here when my son graduated middle school, I thought it would be special to celebrate his college graduation here as well. There are many different rooms. The inside is much darker and offers a sexier vibe and the garden is surrounded by greenery & bright natural light even on a dark rainy day. We ordered two apps: - Half Shell Fishers Island Oysters (with "Bloody Mary" Gazpacho) - Cured Tuna Sashimi Entrees: - Pan Seared Halibut (companion complained about the small portion so I didn't asked to take a bite, lol) - Tamarind Glazed Duck Confit (my son said it was more like a duck salad) I had the New Jersey Sea Scallops. I liked that it was not seared. It had a translucent look. It came with Baby Bok Choy, blistered Shishito peppers, avocado, toasted Nori with a pickled ginger emulsion. Need I say more? I was wowed by the baby pink sauce. I absolutely loved the plump scallops. Dessert: Having done many school reports about Napoléon, my son had to choose the Crème de Muscade Napoléon which came with banana ice cream. Service is on a whole other level. Excuse my etiquette but I had used some of the utensils for things we shouldn't have. Ex: I used a spoon to taste the "Bloody Mary" Gazpacho that came with the raw oysters. I see the guy slowly zooming in on all our utensils with his Eagle eyes to see which has been used and replacing them before the next course came. Not necessary but it shows their attention to detail. Zagat recommended for decades, come check out the husband and wife duo chefs who changes up the menu seasonally. Valet Parking Available

Yelp
There's a reason Frog and the Peach is a staple in New Brunswick while everything is constantly changing. If you need elegance, ambiance, a gorgeous bar and a menu that can spark a foodie's imagination, Frog and the Peach steps up to the plate. Our waiter was very knowledgeable and welcoming thoroughly explaining the chef's specials. His recommendations were taken seriously and helped the table make decisions. My party ordered lamb, steak with a butternut squash tamale and halibut. Each plate made with pride. There are multiple areas to dine in, so take advantage of the views. The Florida room looked perfect to through a shower of some sort. Absolutely would return and if you can, use their valet service.

Yelp
Food was exquisite. Service accurate and expeditious. I ate in side which was nice but I know they have other rooms with great ambiance like the garden room. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Consistency gets a bad rap as most new(ish) restaurants are all about turning the dial to 11 on atmosphere and experience that only a restaurant consultant could love. New Brunswick stalwart The Frog & The Peach has a different idea that has endured decades. Provide a refined, low key atmosphere where service and an excellent menu prevail without piped in crowd noise and an insufferable cocktail menu that would intimidate a Big Pharma chemist. I'm a duck man myself so TF&TP is fine dining central and exudes bespoke excellence every time that has no interest in chasing fads. An enduring five stars.

Yelp
Overpriced and underperformed . The only good dish was French toast. We had appetizers- Bacon Biegnets ( had a smell) Tuna sashimi (2 tbsps for 15$) Salad was legit without dressing and toughest pieces of chicken, maybe leftover from last night. Entrees- grilled burger was ok Thai BBQ duck banh mi was so tough, we abandoned it halfway through French toast was excellent Second visit (we were invited aka forced to dine) Never recommending it nor going back Valet : we paid cash 20$ and then were charged via cc again!! The server was super polite and attentive only good thing

Yelp
TLDR: Service and atmosphere are amazing. The food has its hits and misses. We went for a member of our party's birthday. After making our reservation the restaurant called us so they could deliver a card to our birthday person. It was the cutest hand drawn card. The waiter that served us was exceptionally friendly. I changed my order (in a moment of indecision) after placing it, and the waiter was happy to make the change. The waitstaff overall was very attentive and friendly, and made the experience a delight. The room we sat in was similar to a greenhouse. It was brightly lit and was filled with plants and decorations. With heated ceilings and floors it would be a cozy space on a snowy day. Most of the food was great. The oysters were fresh with good accompaniments; the flatbread was well cooked and had fresh toppings; the sweet potato fries were crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. However the burger, though perfectly cooked, was a bit under seasoned and lacking in flavor. The experience at The Frog and The Peach was great, and I'll assume that the burger was just off on the day. I would definitely go back to try it again. For now I'll give them the benefit of doubt and re assess this review when I return.

Yelp
Back at F&P years later. The ambiance was still beautiful and intimate. This time I sat in the outside dining area. I enjoyed my meal (ordered the steak with onion tart) for drink I had the bad decision. It was small but strong. If had an interesting peanut after taste.

Yelp
This is a nice, upscale restaurant in the new Brunswick area. Pros: - beautiful outdoor dining - service is quick - the mock tails were flavored well and had unique combinations - the food was pretty good! I would rate it a 7/10. The only thing was that many items were over cooked/burnt Cons: -valet takes up most public parking spots so you are almost forced to park with them - Servers seemed very annoyed with us for their own restaurant's issues. We were in the valet line for a while until the valet told us to just leave the keys in the car and he'll park it. But he didn't, he went around shouting/asking who's car it is 15 min later because he forgot. Then we had to leave to talk to him, and the waiters were sighing/rolling their eyes at us for whatever reason. I wouldn't come back again, but it was an interesting new experience.

Yelp
Sunday Brunch review... Pre Fix menu. This gives you a choice of a cocktail, plus one app and entree. But you can add on. Which, of course we did. We sat in a small area downstairs called the Alcove room. That is located right next to the bar. Our server Charlotte was excellent. Checking up on us every so often on a rather quiet late morning. For what it's worth, this is a charming upscale restaurant. A few different sized rooms were being set up on the ground floor for a bridal shower. Our adult libations were a peach Bellini for her and spicy Bloody Mary on my end. For our appetizers Hash Brown Poutine and those bacon beignets which I couldn't resist ordering. Both were very good. Just enough to wet our appetite. Entrees were the Smoked Short Ribs & Sourdough grilled cheese. One hit ( those Short Ribs) and one miss ( grilled cheese). We added on at the end of our meal and shared that Cream Brûlée. So good and not sweet at all. Parking is valet right in front and super easy. Enjoy :)

Yelp
Delicious food, amazing service and ambience. I sat at the bar for my meal and the bartender was amazing, he even created a drink for me based upon what I told him I liked to drink. The pasta was delicious as well! I took most of it back to the hotel as I got full from the amazing bread.

Yelp
My husband and I visited The Frog and the Peach to celebrate our anniversary, and while I wasn't super impressed with the food, the ambiance and service were fantastic. The cozy and intimate atmosphere of the restaurant made it a perfect spot for a romantic evening, and the staff was friendly and attentive throughout the meal. We started with the Charred Portuguese Octopus and Za'atar Spiced Flatbread. While both sounded interesting, the flatbread really missed the mark for me. The octopus on the other hand was great. The texture was perfect and it had a lot of great flavor while not being fishy-tasting at all. I'd say that was definitely my favorite dish of the night. For our main courses, my husband ordered the Grass Fed 12oz. Ribeye Steak and I had the Steamed Dayboat Cod. The fish was cooked very well and had a great flavor, but the steak was a little underwhelming. Finally, we finished off the meal with the Meyer Lemon Tarte for dessert. The tartness of the lemon was perfectly balanced with the sweetness of the dessert, and the presentation was impressive. The Frog and the Peach is definitely worth a visit for its ambiance and service, even if the food was a bit hit-or-miss. With a little tweaking, the menu could really shine and make it a must-visit restaurant in New Brunswick.

Dan M.

Yelp
This was an elegant looking spot with a coveted garden room. There was also a small bar and a few private looking areas it looked like as well. The menu was very intriguing and creative while the service was friendly. They also served us complimentary champagne for an anniversary, which was nice to see. For appetizers, the charred Portuguese octopus and veal tartare was ordered. The octopus came with polenta, wood ear mushrooms, cashews, and a shrimp XO sauce. There was one piece of octopus that was a little tough, but the flavor was tasty. The polenta was smooth and creamy while going well with the rest of the components of the dish. The veal tartare came with a burgundy truffle, whipped lardo, quail egg, pickled mustard seeds and four pieces of toast. This was tasty. The only issue of the dish was the lardo. It was not ideal. The truffle enhanced the overall flavor of the tartare as well. I ordered the Long Island duck breast for an entrée. This came with an espresso parsnip puree, grilled squash and a savory, black garlic caramel. This was great. The duck was perfectly cooked and had a tremendous contrast with the black garlic caramel. The puree was a nice touch as well. Will I go back? Easily.

Yelp
Great place to dine in New Brunswick! Actually, probably the only place I would highly recommend in New Brunswick. It is a bit more upscale than your average restaurant in New Brunswick but the quality of the food is certainly worth it! I had the bone marrow starter and the scallops as a main, both were super tasty and correctly executed. Will go again when I am in the area. Recommended!

Amit C.

Yelp
Let me start by saying that this was one of the top rated restaurant's in NJ and almost impossible to get into. Now I could book a table on a Saturday evening and the restaurant was not full. There is a reason for that. The food is absolutely horrible, service very spotty. We went with a party of 4 and the bill with tip came to $425. The total number of alcoholic beverages was 3, so wanted to show that we did not run up the bill with booze. The one cocktail I had was Penicilin, and I think there was no whiskey in it. It was watery and bland and no taste of any alcohol. For appetizers, we picked the flatbread (really poorly done) and octopus which was fair (served wit noodles which was weird). For my main, I picked the special of the day which was a 9 oz Wagyu steak. It cost $54 and I thought that is pretty cheap. I should have known. I have had steak, this one qualifies as the WORST steak I have ever had. It was impossible to cut or chew. I really should have send it back. The restaurant is falling fast, and I predict it will be out of business soon. Stay away.

Rose C.

Yelp
I came here for a celebratory dinner with five other people. I like the look of the frog and peach. It's clear that it's very upscale and intimate. My party sat outside, but we still were in a tent, so it wasn't too bad. But be aware that when you're in outdoor seating, you are closer to the mosquitos & flies. The staff (hostess, bartender, waitress, waitor & manager) were pretty nice & professional. I had the bad decision as my cocktail. It was in a small wine glass, but it still packed a little bit of a punch. The pandan gives it a little bit of an aftertaste, though. For my entree, I had the Pan Roasted Griggstown Chicken Breast. It was delicious, the chicken skin was seasoned well, and it was very juicy. The dill cream sauce tasted light, and airy and the sausage was tasty, but I feel like there wasn't enough of it. The only cons I have to mention are the lack of street parking, the amount of time it took for the entrees to arrive, and limited choices of entrees. Things to keep in mind: - parties of 6 or more automatically have 20% gratuity included (10 or more is 25%). - A reservation is definitely needed - Be prepared to park a little far if you dont want to do their valet parking - the restaurant is an 8 minute walk for the new brunswick train station if you decide not to drive

Amanda C.

Yelp
I have been going to this restaurant for years now and they have yet to disappoint me. The beignets were very fresh and light, cooked to perfection honestly. I loved the eggs benedict with the lobster it was so fresh. Don't get me started on those oysters... like wowwwww!!!! I get them every time and they are soooo good!!! In addition, the service was very great, our food came fast and they made sure we were taken care of. Also, the music and vibe of the restaurant is so welcoming!!! Go here if you want an excellent culinary experience.

Bruce M.

Yelp
I never learn my lesson and realize no matter the quality of the restaurant going on a holiday you never get their best experience. We have been to the Frog and the Peach many times over the past 30 years. This year I decided to make reservations for Mother's Day. Overall the experience was ok The service was exceptional and the young man who serviced our table was attentive and accommodating. For Mother's Day there was an $85 3 course menu. A good selection for all of the courses so no issues there. My bourbon old fashion with Maker's Mark was very good. For the appetizer I had the Black Truffle Ricotta Gnocchi Chanterelle Mushrooms, Fiddlehead Ferns, White Wine, Artichoke Butter and it was delicious. The chocolate trifle for dessert was also very good. The big issue was the entree pan seared ribeye. It was horrible. It wasn't just my cut but 3 others in our party also ordered the ribeye. The quality of the cut was very low grade. I'm not even sure it was ribeye. There was no sear on any of our steaks. They were mushy, no seasoning and the fat was rubbery and stringy. If it was just mine I would have sent it back but all 4 orders were the same. We also ordered a side of Mac and cheese for the table but it never came. Extremely disappointed for a quality establishment. I feel we were taken advantage of for the holiday. I will think twice before going back.

Yelp
I give this restaurant three stars, one for the dessert, one for their ahi tuna, and one for the service. I came on a Thursday evening with a party of five and our service was impressive. Minus points though for the chef who apparently told the waiter it was ok to bring us sesame oil when we asked for olive oil with our bread. The food however, it's an attempt at fine dining. However, their ahi tuna dish (one of the simpler) was perfection. Not to mention, their dessert was a show stopper. The peach sorbet was fresh, and the crème brûlée was decadent.

Amira I.

Yelp
Went during restaurant week and my fam did the limited prefixed menu 3 course for $55. I experienced the peach experience for 5 courses for $78 with additional $95 for wine pairings. Peach carpaccio first very light tasty with the touch of duck confit was interesting blend of flavors. Next burrata on top of sliced watermelon with peach consumme poured on top with a light sparkling wine pairing. Main dish was grilled swordfish with sticky coconut rice with peach curry and as very flavorful and my fave. The 4th dish was pan roasted quail which was very strong gamey flavor and didn't enjoy it. Ended with peach jelly donut. With five courses allocate time wisely we had a later reservation and didn't finish until about 10:30pm. The parking is tough n valet offered but limited spots for them as well. So give yourself time to park. We were seated up top and very cold with air conditioning so bring a jacket.

Yelp
Been coming here steadily here and there over the past few years, since discovering this place, but to be honest, not the same as it used to be. Frequent this place for good quality, ambience and decent prices. Lately, prices here have been shooting through the roof. The last time I came here for brunch, they did away with the regular menu completely, and only had pre-fixe items, which I believe was somewhere close to $60 per person. Another time I stopped by the pre-fixe was over $100 per person. I think management has lost their marbles, with these insane Big Apple prices. Would not be surprised if this placed was acquired by a venture capitalist or private equity firm, but I digress. Anyway, between these new hefty prices and having to pay for parking, I'd only return if I'm hosting a guest, and not for a routine Sunday brunch. At these prices, it makes more sense to drive up to Montclair or Princeton for brunch, rather than dine in the hood.

Val L.

Yelp
Food, great! Duck was excellent! Porkchop excellent! Mocktail, delicious! Noise level, could easily converse with those across the table. Staff, lovely! Valet, easy to use App! Let us linger with no pressure to order! Loved this! Could actually dine! Cleaned table cloth between courses! Stress free dining.

Kate B.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I had such a great experience at this restaurant! For drinks he got a negroni and I got whatever seasonal drink this is (it was made with spicy vodka and was SO refreshing) and we got the black truffle ricotta gnocchi for an app, which we ate before I remembered to snap a good picture of it. For entrees we both got the wagyu skirt steak which was seasoned so well and we both got large portions. Overall we were very happy with our decision to come here :) I'm giving this restaurant a 4/5 because it took awhile to get our drinks, the potato as a side for the steak was good but not amazing (I'm a potato fanatic), and because online scallops were listed and then in person they weren't available- and that's the main reason we went in the first place. Also, for people complaining about parking there's a parking garage like 3 blocks away if you didn't want to do valet!

Bob W.

Yelp
I hosted a business dinner for roughly 25 on 6/14/23. We sat in the upstairs area and had an amazing evening. The crew were very attentive to our needs and the food was outstanding. The ambience of the restaurant was inviting and helped make our evening memorable. Thanks for a great job guys, we will definitely be back! Bob

Miriam P.

Yelp
Excellent... everything was great. Highly recommend. We had the lamb shank and wagyu steak... yummy!!!

Jamie N.

Yelp
Came for a large graduation celebration brunch. Some of the servers were super smiley whereas a few never smiled once. Food was mediocre. My table said the best item was the sweet potato fries from the children's menu and their orange juice.

Harry P.

Yelp
The service was good, ambiance ok. Price and value severely lacking. $9.00 for a five ounce cappuccino is just a money grab. The smoked salmon appetizer (all 3 slices) was cut so thin it only had one side. This place has run it's course, time for something new and different.

Neil P.

Yelp
Truly a gem - my wife and I just enjoyed their tasting menu with pairings for new years eve, and as always we were delighted. Not a cheap date, but wow - a great choice for a special night out.

Amy C.

Yelp
First time here and the food was excellent. Got the tuna appetizer, steak entree and peach sorbet for dessert. Also, had house made lemonade which was very good. Servers were attentive.

Dan M.

Yelp
Excellent classy place, not a place to bring dames! Just seeing if anyone actually reads these reviews. Been coming to the frog and peach for a long time and it never disappoints.

Jeannette M.

Yelp
We heard great things about this restaurant. We ordered drinks, Corpse Revivor 29 and Covo's Daiquiri. Both drinks were good. We ordered the flatbread and duck confident. Both were very tasty. For dinner we ordered the Wagoo Steak. Meat was cooked perfectly. The sides were delicious. The other dinner entre was the scallops. They were also cooked perfectly. We ordered tge Mac and aged gouda. I found the cheese to be too strong for my taste. They dish presentations were beautiful. For dessert we ordered the grilled pound cake with fresh strawberries and lemon Chantilly cream. Pound cake was a bit dry and some sections tasted burned. Overall, this was a great dining experience. Excellent service

Tom F.

Yelp
Good, not great. Overrated. Service and ambiance were fine though sitting in the bar area tends to make a special occasion night out less special.

Yelp
We literally stumbled into this amazing restaurant and so glad we did! Originally planned to go to a restaurant next door but they could not accommodate my mother who has mobility issues. We did not think we needed a Sunday lunch reservation but we were very wrong. As this was a birthday lunch we stumbled into The Frog & The Peach and they said "sure! Come on in". We were so grateful. They gave us a bright and sunny table and we were waited on by Charlotte ( who was amazing. Be sure to request her). Waverly the hostess/manager was so very friendly. We were there for brunch hours and the menu looked amazing! Don't miss the bacon beignets ( you will thank me )! Our party had the lox platter ( which is smoked in house) the chicken and waffles ( who knew black garlic caramel was a "thing") and shrimp and grits. Presentation was amazing; taste was... well we did not leave so much as a crumb on our plates! We had the pear panna cotta and the chocolate macaron stuffed with mouse and caramel and they even sang to me and brought my dessert out with a candle! We can't thank waverly and Charlotte enough for saving the day! And we can't wait to come back!!

Yelp
One of my friends and I met up for brunch on a Sunday. Where do I begin....the ambiance of this restaurant is beautiful. The music is delightful and elegant. Our hostess and waitress were very kind and attentive. You would expect more people to be dining for a weekend but it was very few. Not necessarily a complaint but rather an observation. I ordered the shrimp and grits. I appreciate that they were able to accommodate this dish to not include any butter as I am lactose intolerant. The flavor of the shrimp was pretty good but it was over cooked and rubbery. Moving onto the grits...I have NEVER in my life tasted grits this bad. To give some context, I grew up in a family who traditionally makes this. I have been to various restaurants to try it made different ways and nothing compared to this. I'm not sure if it was the lack of butter or the type of grain used, this tasted straight like watery, grainy, tasteless buckwheat granules. The color alone should have warned me. It was not at all what I was expecting. Now, my friend had ordered the chicken and waffles. Seems simple enough, crispy chicken and fluffy waffles with maple syrup. The plate arrived...and there was a green sauce sitting under the food. We both looked at each other and immediately started sweating. He took some chicken, waffle, maple syrup, and the mysterious sauce and proceeded to shake his face as he chewed it down. I couldn't believe it myself so I tried the sauce and it was...FENNEL. I have never in my life thought that this would ever stand foot on a plate with those base ingredients. It was one word...distasteful I rarely ever give out bad reviews but my experience was just very underwhelming. For a "high quality" location, maybe my expectations were too high? In conclusion, maybe we aren't competent and didn't read the menu close enough? Even then, who's on the creative team and what palate are they going for? I would not recommend this to a friend.

Yelp
This is the one restaurant in New Brunswick to which I feel comfortable bringing guests from out of town. The service has always been professional, and the menu is mostly excellent. In my experience, there have always been delicious vegetarian-friendly options. Prices are extremely reasonable. I look forward to returning.

Yelp
We went the F&P for my birthday and the truffle menu they were just launching for a limited time. Made reservations through Open Table. I'll start with the good; the servers were spot on and the ambiance is warm and cozy if not a little not. Cocktails very good as well. Now, we added a wine pairing to our meal. The advertising was really deceiving. $89pp for dinner $95pp for if you chose the wine. I've never had at any restaurant 2 separate charges for food and wine pairing. But that's what they did. Secondly, there was not 1 mention of paying for parking. They offer valet parking but don't tell you it's $24 bucks!! I'm sorry but I found the whole thing deceptive advertising and with 1/4 glass pours of wine not worth the money at all! I'll have to say that it's wasn't good enough to back for all this expensive added costs. Sorry not a fan!

Yelp
The flavors in the gnocchi was great but not so much the textures. I liked the chicken dish way more than the duck, only because there were some smoky fruity flavors in the duck sauce that I just didn't have the palate for. The sorbet was peach? And I enjoyed its unique flavor. I've never had any like it. Would love to have some more! I'm not rating based off of my lack of palate for American gourmet food - I'm not accustomed to the majority of their menu item. But I do like the ambience, the service, and the presentation of the food. If I was giving a rating based of how things taste with my palate, it would really be a 1/5 stars. I honestly feel conflicted with this review

Yelp
I love an excellent tasting menu. This delicious selection of peaches nestled into each plate delivered. I had begun to lose faith in eating out since every place has just been a let down lately. I love trying things I would never think to order. I enjoy just a sampling of lots of things and this checked all the boxes. Thank you to the chef for your inventive cooking. I can not wait to try the fall tasting menu in October. Also a shout out to the bartender whose drinks were spot on with the hibiscus Manhattan and amazing dirty martinis. I will definitely be coming back...often.

Yelp
Great selection of cocktails and wines. The steak was delicious. Flatbread was lacking in flavor. Tuna tartare and oysters were fresh. Scallops were good but nothing special. Service was wonderful. Valet made parking stress free as it's a busy area.

Yelp
Had an issue with open table and posted a review based on what seemed to be the restaurant policy here. Chef Bruce wrote me with amazing response time to inform me that open table was incorrect about the policy. I am looking forward to dining here and reviewing my experience. Thanks Chef

Yelp
We dined at The Frog and the Peach this weekend as an early Valentine's Day dinner. The only reason I didn't rate 5 stars is that the service was a tad slow in the beginning, but when we did get service, it was knowledgeable, attentive, and friendly. We took the sommelier's recommendation on wine and it was spot on with our request and paired perfectly with the entrees we chose. We also followed the staff's lead on an appetizer selection -- the gnocchi is absolutely magical. For entrees, we ordered the Pork Shank and Griggstown Chicken. Both were flavorful and succulent. We would definitely dine here again for a special occasion!

Yelp
As a Rutgers alumni, it was so nice to see such a high-end and high-quality restaurant walkable distance from the main campus. I came here with a group of friends and the service was exceptional! You definitely have to make a reservation but we were seated at a circle table, making it much easier to converse. While we were waiting for our table, we sat at the bar and had great conversations with the bartender who was a Rutgers student himself! He made me a custom dirty martini and it was one of the greatest I've had. I even ordered another! For dinner, I got the chicken which was pretty average. Only caution is that part of it was wrapped in bacon so for those who only eat chicken, there weren't other options. The vegetarian options were also few.

Yelp
Super over priced. Duck was okay but little bland, almost like it was unseasoned. The steak would have been good if they didn't ruin it with the sauce they used. Drinks were totally outrageously priced. I think they tried too hard to be different. $18 for a macaroon! Woah

Yelp
My family and I went here last month. We found it on a list of top restaurants and wanted to try it out. It was amazing. The ambiance is very nice, especially at the bar. We sat outside in the patio section. It is covered but can get a bit cold depending on the weather. It's decorated beautifully with lots of plants. Our service was very timely and they were helpful with wine pairings. As for the food, if I could give more than 5 stars, I would. Everyone really enjoyed their meal from our appetizers to dessert. The duck was highly recommended and two of us enjoyed it a lot. The vegetarian options are limited but the spring rolls are very very good. Overall, there's nothing not to like. Drinks are great, food is even better, service is high quality, and atmosphere is beautiful.

Yelp
Visited for a family gathering and unfortunately wasn't super impressed =\ The waitress was sweet and the space was nice, but the food was very much mediocre. I didn't make the reservation so I'm not positive about this, but I think because we were 10 people we had to order off of a select 3-course menu. That's way too much food for me for lunch, so I think that's a little unfortunate. Especially if you generally don't eat dessert / don't eat dessert. There were 3-4 options per section, but I didn't find any of them very enticing. I got the gnocchi from the first section and thought it was okay (just super heavy). From the second I got the lobster Benedict. The lobster was really rubbery and the eggs were undercooked. I think it maybe came with some veggies on the side? I don't remember. But it wasn't great. For dessert I got some sort of cake in a white chocolate shell. It was pretty tasty, just a lot. My mom got the sorbet which was pretty nice too. My SO's chocolate dessert was, unfortunately, terrible. It took forever for desserts to come out. Luckily we weren't rushed for time, but it was truly a long long wait. Some people liked their dishes more than I did mine, but overall we all agreed it was pretty mediocre. Though, to be fair, some of us are coming from NY / Philly, so maybe it's unfair to make that comparison.

Yelp
The Frog & The Peach brings elevated dining to the New Brunswick area where it is most certainly otherwise lacking. Our dining experience felt extra special given that the tasting menu was designed around "The Festival of Peaches". If you're looking for a tasting menu in the Middlesex area this is the place to be! Some plates fell short of expectation (grilled vanilla pound cake), but the level of service and quality of the star meals (see peach carpaccio with crispy duck confit) are well worth the visit.

Yelp
On the plus side, my veal chop was excellent.. a bit overpriced, but cooked to perfection. The other three entrees at our table were mediocre; and certainly not worth the high price for what they were. If you're looking for any flexibility when it comes to the menu and sides dishes in particular, this is not your place. As an example, my veal chop came with some sort of squash side dish, which I do not like... sorry. I noticed that the cod dish came with a potato side dish, which sounded actually very good. So I asked the waiter to swap out my squash for the potato, and this request was refused!!! At these prices, the have a lot of nerve refusing a simple request to swap out the side dish. And their reason ... get this one; because every entree is 'paired' with a side dish, and they can't break up this perfect 'set'!!! One of the desserts was a crumb cake with ice cream. And someone in my party wanted two scoops of ice that particular cream, but no crumb cake... Can you believe that this request was also refused? And.. for the same reason! Every piece of crumb cake is paired with a specific amount of ice cream, and 'we can't have an orphan crumb cake without the ice cream'!! I guess having a little extra ice cream in their freezer would be out of the question. It's amazing that a place that costs at least $100 ++ per person can get away with this low level of accommodation. Their wine list didn't even include a Pinot Grigio.. probably one of the best selling type of white wines that should be a staple on every menu...but no, not here. And to charge $15 for parking is just insult added to insult. I'm not returning, but you're all welcome to give it a try and come to your own conclusions.

Yelp
Had a wonderful Mother's Day at this establishment. Hard to believe I haven't been here before but I'm glad I finally did. The service and ambiance are definitely A1. If you can sit in the garden patio area I'd recommend it but if that full than don't worry the rest of the restaurant is cozy and private with just a few tables per room. I went with the lobster eggs Benedict and mom had the braised short rib. Both were delicious and don't skip the dessert! The lavender honey cheesecake was phenomenal!

Yelp
This is a review for their weekend brunch. Decent food. Way overpriced for what it is. Minimal options. Slightly standoffish waiting staff. Terrible parking situation. Overall not worth the effort
