Cosy old-school diner-style outpost with Formica-topped tables, offering fried and grilled seafood.
"The only menu items that don’t end with ‘and chips’ at The Fryer’s Delight in Bloomsbury are the drinks. You can get their fish, pie, sausages, and chicken (all with chips obviously) here." - heidi lauth beasley, jake missing, rianne shlebak
"The Fryer’s Delight is an old-school, formica-filled, Italian-owned chippy in Bloomsbury, and it is a certified London classic. Crunching chubby chips, golden brown battered sausages, and paddle-sized pieces of fish are a given here. The red formica booths are a bit of a London icon, and the fish and chips on top of them aren’t bad either. Few things are as comforting as a chip butty and a cup of builder’s tea. This is a solid place for both." - jake missing
"If someone is visiting from anywhere outside the UK, the likelihood is they’ll want to have fish and chips at some point. While the fish and chips from The Fryer’s Delight is by no means the best we’ve ever had, the Bloomsbury chippy is the most aesthetically pleasing in London. We know we’re not meant to care about these things, but, honestly, it’s hard to resist a little smile when you sit down in one of their bright red formica-table booths. This place isn’t trying to be old-school, it just is. The fish and chips themselves are tasty enough, but it doesn’t really matter as a solid portion of haddock, chips, and mushy peas is well under a tenner, and also a bit priceless in a place like this." - jake missing, rianne shlebak, heidi lauth beasley
"The King could walk into The Fryer’s Delight hankering after saveloy and chips, and Amal Clooney could walk in with her husband nagging for scampi, and you’d all still end up getting the same handful of tartare sauce packets. That’s just the kind of place this no-nonsense chippy in Bloomsbury is. The booths and red formica tables are a bit of a London icon, and the fish and chips aren’t bad either. Few things are as comforting as a chip butty and a cup of builders, and this is a solid place for both." - Jake Oliver, Rianne Shlebak
"There’s nothing like a day spent looking at stolen artefacts finished by enjoying something that’s legitimately British. The Fryer’s Delight isn’t just one of the best-known chippies in Bloomsbury, but one of the most celebrated in central London. Not only for its glowing red formica booths, its mountainous piles of hand-cut chips, and its paddle-sized pieces of fish—but because this place isn’t trying to be old-school. It just is." - Heidi Lauth Beasley, Jake Oliver
