Where to Eat and Drink Near Great Smoky Mountains National Park | Eater

"Less than 40 miles east of Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Asheville is the main food destination on the North Carolina side. It’s also the ultimate beer haven, with more breweries per capita than almost anywhere in the country. Start barhopping at the sour-focused Funkatorium, an offshoot of mainstay Wicked Weed brewery. The modern garagelike taproom, located in the city’s brewery-saturated South Slope neighborhood, offers a sprawling beer garden lined with planters, murals, and picnic tables. Rotating draft selections, such as the Genesis tropical blonde sour and the Silencio bourbon-barrel-aged black sour with coffee and vanilla, constantly push the boundaries of sour beer. The Funkatorium is also a full-service restaurant with salads, sandwiches, and crunchy Roman-style pizzas." - Matt Kirouac

Great selection of sour beers compared to anywhere else in the area. Huge space with a patio bar. The Italian sandwich was hands down, one of the best I’ve ever had. The chicken cutlet was also good, but felt like it was missing seasoning or another element to it like cheese or a sauce. Fries were also great!

Google
Excellent beer selection, but this is not a place to get a glass of wine. Which is fine! They don’t bill themselves as a place to get a glass of wine, but after one beer I’m usually a little full, and the wines they have, even the sparkling wines, are just… Meh. So be aware of that. Also, we were here with the Asheville Beer choir, and the line was very long to get a beer. So I’m wondering if on the nights that they know that they are coming, they could potentially staff up a bit more. All of that said, the space is excellent. They have a front area and a really large back room, and between them is a beautiful space that’s near the bathroom. It’s hard to describe. It’s just this funky gorgeous blue green -glass space. The back room where the beer choir was performing is lovely. See the photos and the videos. Thanks for hosting the beer choir! Again, a really groovy space and excellent beers.

Great beer, amazing service! The staff are ready to help you out with a smile. We started with the focaccia, wood fired turnips and a couple drinks. The dunkle is soooo deliciously malty and smooth. The turnips came out to the table cold. Not even a faint hint of warmth, but the staff quickly swapped us out for some of the chicken lettuce wraps. Those wraps are so fresh and light, perfect swap and handled well by the staff. Highly recommend this place:)

Google
Such a fun place. Great music and great beer! We had a ton of fun here. Dog friendly and a lot of people had kiddos there. I feel like it’s a less kid friendly environment than some other places in the Asheville area but for a quick beer ? The kids will be fine here!

Google
One of our favorite places we visited on our weekend trip to Asheville. Friendly service and awesome beer. The helles lager was great! Wasn’t in the mood (too much the night before) for sours but next time I’m definitely trying them all!!

Google
Wicked Weed Funkatorium is one of our favorite places to visit when we're in Asheville. Anthony, our bartender, is beyond fantastic. He helped us build our flight of beers with his deep knowledge of all the different funky sours. This place has the coolest, chillest vibe, great beer and knowledgable bartenders.

Google
Great variety of sour beers. Recommend the red angel. Atmosphere is great. Indoor and outdoor 😎 Focaccia is great. Kid had a chicken cutlet. Good breading but thin chicken piece. So it was dry. But focacia was great. Fries are meh. Napa cabbage is always a good choice.

Google
Funkatorium is a sibling of the Wicked Wick Pub brewery near downtown. This brewery's specialty is sour beer while the downtown one focuses on more of normal beer. You can get their menu online. I'm not a beer fan so I can't comment on the beer they sell. We did order classic french fries and it was really good. Thick, crunchy and just the right amount of salt. Would definitely order french fries again. Their customer service is also good: friendly, polite and pretty fast. However, my server at the downtown one was better though. I love both indoor and outdoor seating at Funkatorium. I like the outdoor seating here more than the downtown one: more space, more shade, very casual and relaxing to hang out. The indoor design is beautiful and impressive. I guess I love both indoor and outdoor here more than the downtown one :D

Yelp
What a great experience! We came here on a night out with friends, and everyone was exclaiming about how good the food was! As a vegetarian, I was so happy that I had multiple options. My husband and I shared an appetizer of the fried burrata and two entrees - the cheese pizza and the not-meatball sub. The fried burrata was creative and tasty. It has pesto below the burrata, which add a freshness to the fried cheese. The cheese pizza was delicious too. We thought it was a personal size, but we realized next time we can probably just order one pizza to share without an added entree! However, the not-meatball sub with the lemon ricotta was still a showstopper, and I would gladly order either the pizza or the "meatball" sub next time I come! I was curious about the falafel being the "meatball" but it worked, and the lemon ricotta is definitely worth it as an add-on! Our friends also enjoyed their food and kept saying how big their sandwiches were! The food came out super fast and the service was nice and friendly. The ambiance was fun and on a holiday weekend, it was full, but luckily no need to wait for a table. We will be coming back for sure!

Yelp
Great beer, amazing service! The staff are ready to help you out with a smile. Plenty of outdoor space for your whole group, plus a cool looking event space!

Yelp
By far one of my favorites in Asheville! We haven't been in a few years, but it was a must stop this trip. Because we had pizza the night before, we ordered something different. (Pizza is AMAZING btw) I got the chicken, lettuce wraps, and they were the best lettuce wraps I have ever had, Hands-down! My son got spaghetti and meatballs, and his sauce was delicious! These were homemade and some of the best Italian we had had in a long time. Of course, the beers are amazing, and Mom indulged in a HEFEWEIZEN because it was during the day. But one of my all-time favorite beers, is their Pernicious IPA. It's money! The service was excellent! The bartenders were very accommodating to my son, asking to use a small sifter for his water as opposed to a paper cup. Because you order at the bar, you don't have a server check on you. However, we did have someone come and check in on us twice after delivering our food. It's very laid-back, the ambience is so chill and funkadelic! It's dog, friendly outside, and super kid friendly. One of our favorite places in Asheville!

Yelp
The best brewery for sours bar none, hands down, end of story. Love the smoked and barrel aged brews, and the coffee vanilla sour is a sweet treat.
google avatar

Yelp
So glad I was able to check out this place and so glad they reopened. I love the space, both the indoor and outdoor space. So much outdoor space! If you like sours, definitely a spot to check out. They have flights that are customized or you can build your own. Didn't try the food but they have some good stuff on their menu.

Yelp
Stopped here for lunch as we were traveling through with our dog. The outside patio is nice, covered, and very dog friendly. They immediately gave us a bowl of water for our pup. I'm not a beer drinker but was hoping for their cider but was told they were out of it so I opted for the Prickly Pear Margarita. The drink was very nice and refreshing, not too tart like some. For lunch, I had the Vietnamese Noodle Salad with chicken and my boyfriend had the Philly Cheesesteak with fries. We both enjoyed our choices and my boyfriend even said he liked my noodle salad better than his cheesesteak. The fries were fresh cut fries so they were tasty... the dog approved of the fries!

Yelp
Stopped in during a bachelorette party and had great service and a great vibe. The place feels super trendy but also like a relaxing brewery, with indoor and outdoor seating. We all ordered cocktails, like espresso martinis and lemon drop shots, and they accommodated so well (including using Kahlua instead of Baileys in the espresso martinis). The place had a ton of water stations to stay hydrated. Really liked their seasonal cocktail.

Yelp
I love, love, love the Funkatorium! Sours are some of my favorite beers and they have so many to choose from. Their outdoor patio space is huge and pet friendly. They also have tasty snacks, although we didn't get any during this trip to Asheville. My husband and I ordered 2 flights to share- the Angel and Barrel-Aged. My sister ordered a cocktail and my brother in law ordered a flight as well. We came here on a Friday night and it was a lively, thriving kind of packed. Kids were playing and having fun, lots of other dogs hanging out, and there was what appeared to be a wedding party there for a reception dinner or maybe drinks after a reception dinner. It's such a fun place to have a little date night, bring the family for dinner, or stop in before traveling on to another nearby brewery.

Yelp
Cool place to stop for a cocktail. Very unique drinks and fun atmosphere. Hoping the closure is only temporary!

Yelp
If you like Sours then this is your place! The selection is massive and they have flights so you can try multiple types. They also let you sample anything you like before making a full-glass decision. They do have wine and cocktails if sours aren't your thing! I've been here every visit to Asheville I make. I was a bit disappointed this last round as they changed their menu a bit and our favorites the trout dip, pretzels, and pickles were no longer a thing. The current menu just didn't look that appealing, but we opted to share some Poutine and I can't say I'd order it again :/ Please bring back the others!! The building is really cool to check out as well - from the indoor area, the outdoor dog-friendly space, to the back room. It's a really beautiful building and well-designed. No need for fancy pants here either - great for a stop after hiking or playing outside.

Yelp
Cool brewery in Asheville, run by Wicked Weed. They specialize in Sours, which is not my usual preferred beer style but I've heard so many great things about this place that I had to try it out. They do have other types of beers as well. It has a huge bar and tasting room as well as a large outdoor beer garden. Decorated beautifully. I tried a Sour flight which I actually enjoyed. Lots of fresh fruit flavors. Service at the bar was great as well, the beertender gave great recommendations. They also offer food but we had already eaten. Open Sunday to Thursday 11:00am - 11:00pm and Friday and Saturday 11:00am - 12:00am.
google avatar

Yelp
Good food, fun and open atmosphere, and friendly staff. The farmhouse flight was delicious and the bahn mi roll was very flavorful. Both indoor and outdoor seating is available, with limited street parking in front of the space.

Yelp
Get funky at the Wicked Weed Funkatorium! It's a must when in Asheville, with funky beers and food menu items. With funky beer flights on tap, tasty fusion bar bites on the menu and a dog friendly heated outdoor (enclosed/covered patio), the Funkatorium is the epitome of the city. If you are just getting your feet wet with the funky beers, I would recommend the Classic & Clean Flight - and if you're looking for something light and easy drinking, the Fresh Pressed is a good one. You can never go wrong with fried Brussels - but these are even better with the Parmesan chips. The fried chicken satay sandwich was a bit funky in flavor for me but the chicken was THICK, JUICY and fried to perfection. Add the Funkatorium to your list when you're in Asheville!
google avatar

Hanna A.

Yelp
No better way to celebrate St. Patty's day then at a local brewery! Staff was very friendly, making sure we had all we needed for our pup, and were helpful in recommending menu items. They have a ton of outdoor space , so on a nice day this place was packed!
google avatar

Gustavo S.

Yelp
Wicked Weed knows how to do it, right!!! We recently got to stop by the Funkatorium, and man was it worth the stop!!. Amazing beers, food, and ambiance. They also have an indoor-outdoor area so we were able to bring our pup with us as we ate lunch. The food was so good we forgot to take pictures, LOL. The kids ate the Smash burgers, and said it was one of the best they have had! The kale salad and flatbread were very tasty as well as the corn fritters. I highly recommend this spot if you're in Asheville. I am sure it's popping come summertime when the courtyard is open and comes alive!

Yelp
Yummy late night food offerings. We stopped in after a show at Rabbit Rabbit. We had a group of 12 and they had no problem with us walking in so late. We chose a huge picnic table and were immediately greeted and our orders taken. It didn't take long for the snacks to arrive. The late menu is short but still had so many tasty items. Favs: Elote Salad and Moroccan Carrot Salad. We also had the yummy Banh Mi, Jamaican Beef Hand Pie, and Mumbai Sandwich. All of them were tasty and the servings were plentiful. Then there is the beer... we had the usual IPAs and left satisfied

Yelp
I'm so sad to see this location has closed! Not only were the beers good, but I think I had the best Caesar salad of my life here. I need their dressing recipe, it was amazing.
google avatar

Jessica K.

Yelp
If you like sour beer, you should definitely stop by here! They have so many different sours, and you can get a flight. I've been here twice and both times loved the flights I got. The most recent time my husband and I got two Korean corn dogs and fries. These were hands down the best corn dogs I've had. The batter was so good! There's also lots of seating and service was quick.

Yelp
Amazing brewery / food stop with an incredible layout that seems to include a mini concert venue. We were in town on a quieter Monday evening so no major events in play. The beer selection is impressive and includes the largest assortment of sours that I've come across. The food menu has a diverse assortment of items so everyone should be happy. The Vietnamese noodles were amazing!!! I should've opted for a double portion of tofu but it was pretty satisfying as it was. The kids loved the burgers and the poutine was tasty. The service was friendly and helpful which is nice when trying to decide on a beer choice or two. Great place! Enjoy.

Yelp
Stopped by the outside 'BierGarten' for a round of drinks - great outside, casual atmosphere. The Magenta Mountain (purple cocktail) and the Session Sour (red) were my favs!
google avatar

Ava G.

Yelp
Barrel aged sour flight was DISGUSTING! Every single beer in it was so sour it felt like lemon juice was in our eyeballs! No one at our table of 3 could drink it. Sangria was good though. Service was slow. Wouldn't come again.

Yelp
We finally stopped at Funkatorium, day visit. Very quiet and chill day. Sat on the patio while the rain came down. Such a cool vibe. We ordered up a couple flights of sours from the brewery. They were delivered to our table quickly with a smile. We had a great time with the girls here. Perfect spot for dates, groups, dogs, day drinking. Would love to come back and check out some live music. Great venue.

Yelp
Pleasantly surprised to find much more than spurs on this menu. Oh how it has evolved since the last time I went here. In the best of ways. Cozy but large patio space for small couples or big groups. Would be ideal for any size. The plates looked very chic and delicious but we didn't try any.... Yet. I like that they serve more sours and own their own but also dip into wicked weeds menu too. Happy to find the wines on this menu. They're my absolute favorite. They also have a full bar woot woot. They do kick ya out and make you stop drinking right as the clock strikes closing. Respect that but good to know.

Yelp
Very cool brewery downtown Asheville. Ample seating for small or large groups. Server was great providing help for menu. Food was very good with a Mexican fusion. Had a So-Cal burrito with Apple Brandy Beef was really good with a Advocado Crema

Yelp
I stopped by here on Christmas Eve Day, it was one of the few places open and my friend had put in a request for "anything" from here. I sat at the bar and took a look at the menu and was thrilled to see they had a wine flight sample, so I opted for that and it did not disappoint. I do wish there had been a sparkling option, but all of the ones I did try were great. I think my favorite was the sauv blanc! The bartender was really friendly and helpful in finding a good selection for my friend since I know pretty much nothing about wine. He gave me a list of options and told me the most popular ones, so I just went with that. I really liked this place overall, great vibes, lots of ample seating, and the food menu looked really appetizing. I will definitely grab a bite the next time I'm back.
google avatar

Yelp
Fun brewery with food in Asheville. While known for their sours they have other beers too. Menu is assorted with good options for types of diets. They have cool merch too. They have a big covered outdoor area. Cheers!
google avatar

Connor S.

Yelp
This place is a vibe. I could not have picked a better playlist or vibe setting for our first night in Asheville. Our server was by far one of the coolest people I've ever met with a very low key and chill voice who is really calming. The Caesar salad was bomb with explosive flavor, the grilled cheese was good but a little too greasy and the pub fries were disgusting due to the beer cheese but I think that's just a personal preference. The Brussels Drink selection was wide and unique to Asheville. Definitely come and visit here but choose food carefully
google avatar

Katie E.

Yelp
Honestly can't say enough good things about this place! I'm not from the area, but visit frequently, and I'm pretty sure this is my new can't miss spot when I'm in town. First of all, the space is really cool. It's HUGE with tons of seating, multiple bathrooms, and a separate room to buy merch and cans/bottles. The decor is also really fun, there's these giant dried floral installations hanging from the ceiling in the main room that would make this spot a no brainer for an event rental. They also have a dog-friendly outdoor patio with heaters in the winter. As expected, the draft list is packed with really tasty, unique sours. There's a collection of pre-selected flights that almost everyone at our table chose from so we could sample a lot of different things. The Barrel-Aged Sour Flight was a big winner, and the World Cup Flight was a favorite among the non-sour drinkers at the table (they do have some variety if you're looking for something a little less funky). The surprise star of the show here: the FOOD! With a big group we did a lot sharing, and loved just about everything we ordered. The Trout Dip was a personal favorite of mine, and if the Local Pickled Produce Plate is on the menu--it's a must try. I've never had pickled blackberries or cashews before, and they were both so good! Such a refreshing twist on your typical bar snacks. Great beer. Great Atmosphere. Great food. Enough said :)
google avatar

Jenny R.

Yelp
It's hard to find a place with this many sours on tap, so it was fun to get a flight. Some of the drinks were a little too "funky" for me, but the naan flatbread was delicious. The outdoor patio is large and covered, which was great since a storm rolled in and dropped tons of rain. Our server was super friendly & happened to be from Indiana as well, so that was a fun surprise.
google avatar

Michael G.

Yelp
From the entrance to the inside vibe, this place is a must stop for anyone looking for "Not Chain Dining Experience". We stayed on the outside because of the weather being fantastic. This is a fun, dog friendly joint with lip-smacking good food and friendly patrons to boot. Service was outstanding and not rushed. The Corndogs could be its own meal with taste and textures (ramen or potato coated) that keep it from becoming a chore. The Oaxacan Burger was excellent served with hand-cut fries. I had the Bahn Mi sandwich with a side of yummy "Maduros" Fried plantains. The levels of fresh flavors out of that sandwich on the toasted French baguette had me wishing for a second stomach. Flight 4. Sours. Outstanding all but we leaned in on the Famboos and Cerise Morte. Raspberry and Cherry with the prior be sour forward and the latter hitting you with the sour second after the hit of fruit. Great place and excellent pricing that won't break the bank either.
google avatar

Marc B.

Yelp
Great offshoot of wicked weed brewing. This is the place where they have all their barrel aged sours and beers withBrett. Service was prompt and friendly and if you like barrel aged sours and beers with Brettanamyoces, this location is highly recommended.
google avatar

Emma G.

Yelp
So pleased with this spot! The taproom is a nice, large area with plenty of seating. It's spread out enough that everyone can have their own little spot. It's darker, so very cozy! We were in a bit of a time crunch to get to a brewery tour across the street. They were super accepting of that and were able to get our food out at one time! I had a flight of their sours, and my partner had their apple cider old fashioned. Both were fantastic. Now for the food: come hungry! The pretzel was demolished (no photo) but my oh my was it something else. I had the Buddha bowl; such a perfect mix of veggies and grains to keep me full and happy. He had the ham sandwich. Incredible! Would love to come back by. Such a cool spot.
google avatar

Amanda H.

Yelp
This is the second time I've been to the Funkatorium. This place was popping. It was super busy, however there is a massive patio area which is where most people seemed to want to be anyways. I ordered a burger as it had been hours since I'd last eaten. The burger was good but not great. I also ordered the s'mores smoked Old Fashion. Let me tell you, when they make a mixed drink here you know it. This was delicious, however super strong. One and I was done. It was loud but everyone in our party along with other patrons were having a blast. My only issue, I noticed this last time as well, if you don't look between the ages of 21 and 27 it seems to take longer to get served. This is only my opinion and I could be wrong. It just seemed the younger crowd were getting served much faster than my crew that range from late 30s to early 50s.
google avatar

April B.

Yelp
We wanted a bite to eat after a hike so we stopped since we were close and it was on our list of places to visit while in town. My friend had a wine flight and I enjoyed a S'mores old fashioned. It was a little sweet for my taste but I knew what I was getting in to (s'mores- Duh!) and knew I'd regret passing on it. We enjoyed grilled ham and cheese, various bites and both had fries. They were too salty for me but just perfect for my friend, but delicious and crisp just the same! The inside was fun, funky and cool, just as the name suggests. It was pretty quiet when we arrived mid-afternoon but things picked up as the afternoon wore on. As things picked up service was less attentive but we got what we needed.
google avatar

Michael H.

Yelp
Oh my goodness!! What's not to like. The place has a funky vibe with funky colors and funky music. The staff..dang! So nice and helpful. The beers, whoa! The BEERS! I ordered the barrel aged flight and found it funkalicious. All sour and all complex. The barrel aging whether from wine or spirits, so tasty. Add some coffee or chiles...wow! Photo: From L to R. Genesis - mango, guava, pineapple in white wine barrels Medora - blackberries, raspberries in red wine barrels. Ruido - blueberries, chiles, citrus, smoked salt in neutral oak barrels Silencing - coffee and vanilla in bourbon barrels
google avatar

Renee C.

Yelp
I'm not a fan of sours so I was thrilled to see the cocktail menu. They arent Kidding when they say it's the best grilled cheese you'll ever have. It was perfect with every bite. I said it also felt like it had been drug through a field of mushrooms. Just had a really nice woodsy flavor. The heaters outside were perfect touch to a cold, rainy night. Staff was attentive and friendly. Burger was so good.
google avatar

Hannah D.

Yelp
Great food, yummy drinks and good vibes! They have an awesome selection of beer and wine as well as cocktails. Everything we had was delicious, especially the burger and poutine fries. Amazing service as well, our waiter was very attentive and also gave us great recommendations. A great place for a patio lunch!
google avatar

Alicia H.

Yelp
Enjoyed day drinking here- what a cool spot & delicious brews! It was a beautiful fall day to sit outside, people watch & enjoy some fruity Fresh Pressed beers. At first some nearby breweries weren't open yet, but then I found my people at Wicked Weed - hey i was on vacation, it was beer o'clock! Our waiter was great, and my beer so tasty I grabbed a 6 pack to go. Chill vibe, large space, cool staff & yummy beers. I didn't try any food, but it's nice they have a permanent kitchen too. Cheers!

Yelp
This venue is a part of the wicked weed brewing company. They specialize in sours at this facility, many of which are aged in wine barrels, bourbon barrels, and other aging processes. I had their wicked flight. Very good all the way around. A lot of Berry infusions, including raspberry blueberry, blackberry and cherry. I also had dinner. The SoCal burrito which had pico de gallo, french fries and Carne Asada all rolled into a tortilla. It was actually very very good. The venue is huge. It makes you feel like you're eating in a garden. Very laid-back beautiful surroundings all covered very large patio as well as the indoor bar. Highly recommend if you are in Asheville. This is part of the south slope Brewery area

Kathy P.

Yelp
The ambience was terrific. ! I'm not a beer drinker and was pleasantly surprised with the mixed drink I had !! Delicious

Yelp
I love sour beer. It's my FAVORITE beer ever. It goes that I had to come here. We came for the beer. We stayed for the food. Holy freaking cow. The beers, of course, we fab. I was in sour beer heaven. The food though.... Pickle plate. Picked grapes and cashews. Who would've thunk it? I certainly didn't but there we were. Blew my mind. Burger for me and chorizo torta...so good. And the chips. What the heck. The star of the show was the ice cream Sammy. Chocolate ice cream between a huge and perfectly baked chocolate chip macaroon. I've made macaroons. They are not easy. Somehow the texture was still perfect but with ice cream. Finally, my feet reached the foot test on the stools. If you aren't short you don't understand how unexpectedly wonderful that is.
google avatar

Melissa L.

Yelp
Atmosphere is wonderful. They have a large inside area and outside courtyard with heated seating. The beer is great and reasonably priced.

Yelp
Funkatorium was a great spot for a late dinner! I did not realize that most of their beers are sours, but that made it a fun experience trying something different. I had the red raspberry sour beer. It was served in a wine glass, and it made sense since it tasted like a tart bubbly wine. I really liked it. My husband got the 50/50 flight that had two "regular" beers and two sour beers. For food, I had the pretzel and a kale caesar salad. Both were great! The pretzel was very large and I shared it with the table. It has everything bagel seasoning. The cheese dipping sauce was incredible. My mom and my husband each got a burger, which they said were really good. The burgers were a little on the small side. Fries cost extra to add with the meal. Overall, we all agreed we loved the food. My parents were not so keen on sour beers, but that's okay! I would definitely recommend checking this spot out.

Yelp
Relaxed atmosphere and one of the best breweries to hang out with friends! They have a beautiful outdoor area strung with lights and you can bring your best bud to hang with you (the dog). Ingredients used for food are fresh and locally sourced. Got a flight of fruit beers and they were a good way to end a day of hiking. Hubs got the burger which he loved and was very happy with the cook of it. Now...I don't usually do salads but when I come here I get one because they taste so light and fresh, the heirloom tomatoes they use are just bursting with flavors! Salad had a homemade raspberry vinaigrette dressing. Also got a chorizo and avocado torte which paired well with my salad. We were a little disappointed because in the past they had focaccia cheese bread that was wonderful as well as pizza that they used the focaccia bread as a base...they were our favorites but apparently off the menu now. The waitress said they bring it back occasionally for a limited time. It's so delicious they should have it on the menu all the time!

Yelp
Made the trek from Cashiers to Asheville and had lunch here...we arrived just after opening and opted for the heated patio (they allow dogs out there). Ordered a couple of beers and some smoked trout dip...the service was great, beers and dip came out shortly. DH opted for the ham and cheese on a croissant while I went with the grilled cheese + bacon. The grilled cheese lovely, but I would have preferred a softer bread...the artisan loaf was a bit too much. The ham and cheese is where things wrong! The ham and cheese looked delicious, but...the mustard was OVERPOWERING it was all you could taste. It was not good. Also, please note that the Funkatorium is not Wicked Weed, that's up the street and I recommend it over the funk.

Yelp
Nice vibe...both inside and out. Happen to be there on a Tuesday and they had open mic amateur night. Very entertaining. Nice selection of beer. Menu not too bad. Late in the evening so just had a pretzel appetizer. Pretty pricey for just a pretzel, thus the 4 stars.

Yelp
I know sours aren't everybody's jam - hell, they're not even mine - but the beers they turn out are so excellent and unique they are "worth a special journey" as they say. Flights are the best way to sample all that these guys do. We've been 4-5 times and the flights change with the year/season - this time we got: "Brett Farmhouse Flight" - which had 4 different farmhouse ciders. My favorite was the "Garcon de Ferme", which was brewed with peach - I found it the smoothest and closest to a regular farmhouse ale. My wife got also got a "black angel" - sour cherry brewed in bourbon barrels. The food is 3.5 - 4 * pub grub - they have a late night menu which had a solid french dip on it, and a weird pickle plate.

Yelp
First thing to know is this is a SOUR BEER brewery! I really liked this brewery. My favorite thing about this brewery is the outdoor seating. It has a ton of tables out side and they are all covered so you don't have to sit in the hot sun but can still enjoy the nice weather. They also have a huge indoor seating area that is really nice. The beer was just ok but I can't fault them for that as I'm not a fan of sour beers and they are a sour brewery. I got a flight of beer which was still cool because I got to try 4 different beers. I could have gotten an non-sour beer as they do have some but I wanted a flight. We ordered the french fries and they were really good. I know they are just fries but some places cant even do fries well. I really wanted to order the fried chicken sandwich but I was not hungry enough. I did see a lot of people ordering it so maybe try that if you came. The service was pretty good. They were not that busy so they came over often to check on us. I would come back to try the chicken sandwich next time :)
