The Funny Lion - El Nido

My partner and I visited The Funny Lion El Nido for five nights in August. The hotel is modern and clean. The room was spacious enough for two for five days. There is a daily breakfast buffet with international breakfast options. The pool area and restaurant is beautifully maintained and a great spot to chill out/relax or work (we did both). There is happy hour and room service options.||The location is great, it's right next to Town Square (two minute walk) which has a spa and several restaurants/cafes/bars. It's then less than a ten minute walk to El Nido Town Centre which has a long strip of restaurants/shops/cafes/bars along El Nido Beach. Venturing further out is then only a 10-15 minute drive. They also have daily shuttles to and from the private beach owned by The Funny Lion, which is beautiful and worth visiting. We booked an island hopping tour directly through the hotel as well and they arranged transport to and from the tour.||The real highlight of The Funny Lion is the customer service. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful, taking the time to learn each guests name and personally greet them each day. They went above and beyond to help with any requests or questions we had (wifi, laundry, housekeeping etc.). The restaurant staff were always quick to greet us and bring coffee with breakfast etc.||We had a fantastic time!

We stayed here for 3 nights to celebrate our anniversary and a birthday. I chose the hotel off the back of the reviews on here so had quite high expectations as the number 1 hotel in El Nido.||The first thing I must say is that the staff are all very lovely, rarely I have stayed in a hotel where the staff address all of the guests by name. This is quite exceptional. The hotel is well located, just a short stroll from restaurants, the night market, beach and stores. ||Our stay did face a couple of issues and I addressed this with the general manager. I must say in terms of resolving things and restoring my faith in the hotel, this is something he succeeded to do which is why I feel the hotel deserves its rating of 5/5.||The rooms are all quite a standard size, but are comfortable, have juice and drinks in the minibar which are complimentary. Bandanas and a tote bag are given as a gift as well as a friendship bracelet when you check out and this is a lovely thought.||The pool is warm and inviting and perfect for having cocktails during happy hour. The food at the hotel was delicious, I ordered a pie which was totally unexpected in Philippines and it was delicious. The breakfast, had really good quality produce and a really nice selection of things. ||We also decided to take the trip to Papaya Beach as the weather was overcast and we didn’t want to do tour C without good weather. A van of guests were taken to the port, transferred by boat to the most beautiful beach. We ordered a packed lunch also as there aren’t any food options on the beach. It was actually lovely to meet and chat to other hotel guests.||A perfect beach for relaxing and swimming and that afternoon we had massages in the spa which were really good. ||Despite a few issues, we did really enjoy our stay and the GM and all the team appeared to wave farewell with such warmth and sincerity. So, if things do go wrong, you can be assured that staff do care and will make things right and thanks to the GM for this.

The hospitality was phenomenal! 11/10. ||The staff knew our names and greeted us with kindness every time we left to sight see, and when we returned it felt like coming home. ||I loved how the Funny Lion was in close proximity to the town, but tucked away so that it’s not bustling with the tourists. ||The food was great! What they offered was often better than what we could find in the town. ||The amenity’s were great too: Gym, coffee/ bakery shop, spa were all excellent. ||My wife and I will definitely be coming back!

TFL El Nido is cozy and a cool place to stay. Breakfast buffet is superb. Facilities and amenities (did I say they have an exclusive beach you can only reach by boat?) are stellar. Most of all their crew is just beyond friendly and efficient. Wish we had that extra night’s stay. 5 stars all the way!

Everything was perfect. The hotel itself had great ambiance and was super clean. The staff were friendly. I enjoyed the little details as in the tote bag given to you as a keep sake as well as the bandanas. I absolutely loved the fresh juice in the fridge ready for consumption and two other health drinks that were provided. The food was delicious. They also had many great tours you could book through the hotel which was convenient. I highly recommend this place and would return!

Amazing hotel, really well maintained. Luxurious yet affordable! Breakfast was top notch, swimming pool was great, their daily trip to their private beach was a bit!! A secluded, empty beach that was a true paradise!|Their staff were amazing and went above and beyond to make our anniversary, and my 40th birthday celebrations extra special!!! Thank you!!

We arrived here after leaving another hotel which had been so disappointing. The Funny Lion was our next choice and they saved the holiday-- we'll be sure to stay here next time. The front desk staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Our room was clean and large with a comfortable bed. We did choose to pay for a sea view and were told the fourth floor had no lift. Keep that in mind but it didn't bother us. The room was dominated by plentiful mood lighting but I know some could find it darker than usual. The attention to detail, the caring staff, and the general atmosphere made this a very relaxing stay. I would highly recommend it.

All the staff were extremely accommodating, warm, and friendly, making me feel truly welcome throughout my stay. The breakfast offered a wide variety of delicious options to start the day right. The facilities were spotless and well-maintained, creating a very comfortable environment. Overall, the service was excellent.
