The Funny Lion - El Nido

I recently stayed at Funny Lion Hotel in El Nido, and it turned out to be one of the highlights of my trip. The hotel strikes a great balance between modern comfort and relaxed island vibes, making it a perfect place to unwind after long days of exploring the beaches and lagoons around El Nido. From the moment I arrived, the staff were incredibly welcoming and attentive. Check-in was smooth, and they took the time to explain the amenities and offer helpful tips for getting around the area. The service throughout the stay was consistently excellent—friendly, professional, and always ready to help. The rooms were clean, stylish, and very comfortable. It is a boutique hotel, and lighting was limited, but it didn’t pose a concern. The air conditioning worked well, the bathroom was modern, and everything felt well maintained. The pool and bar provide an amazing place to relax in the evening. It’s the perfect spot to enjoy a drink and wind down after a day of adventures. The food at the hotel restaurant was also very good. Breakfast had a nice variety of options, and everything was fresh and well prepared. I found myself looking forward to the mornings just to enjoy a relaxed breakfast before heading out for the day. Location-wise, the hotel is conveniently close to the main part of town while still feeling peaceful and slightly removed from the busiest areas. It made it easy to explore restaurants, shops, and the beach without dealing with constant noise. Overall, Funny Lion Hotel in El Nido exceeded my expectations. With its excellent service, comfortable rooms, beautiful rooftop pool, and convenient location, it’s a fantastic place to stay for anyone visiting El Nido. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to other travelers looking for a relaxing and well-run hotel in paradise.

Great, relaxing stay here! Convenient location to walk to places in town. Friendly, plentiful staff if you ever need anything. Delicious breakfast buffet with lots of variety. I appreciated it started at 6 am, as my boat tour was at 7. Clean rooms with nice lighting. AC was a little loud though, and I was disappointed they didn't provide shampoo, conditioner, or body lotion. It seems like a premium hotel, so this seemed like a missed opportunity to follow through with the premium experience. A huge plus is the private beach that the hotel takes you to and from. The beach in El Nido town is a bit unclean, so really recommend taking advantage of this other private beach they offer.

A beautiful facility with great service. |Located close to town but just far enough to avoid most of the hustle and bustle. The facility is quiet and the rooms are clean. Housekeeping is very attentive and frequent. The kitchen serves great food, especially during their breakfast buffet with a wide enough variety for most diets. The gym was well equipped with the necessities, and the spa service was amazing and fairly priced. They are able to assist with organizing your touring itinerary and at comparable prices to surrounding companies. You'll find many hospitable staff members throughout the complex ensuring your needs are taken care of. Everyone here is very respectful and deserve the same from their visitors.

Our stay at Funny Lion was absolutely wonderful, and we can say with full confidence that this is a truly special place. The location is perfect, very convenient and comfortable, but what makes this hotel outstanding is the people. The staff are incredibly responsive, caring, and attentive. They genuinely care about their guests and even remember everyone by name, which makes you feel truly welcomed and valued from the very first day. The rooms are beautiful, very clean, cozy, and well maintained. Everything is done with great attention to detail. There is absolutely no need to stay directly on the beach because the hotel regularly provides a transfer to their own Papaya Beach at 9:00 and 11:00 in the morning, with return transfers at 14:00 or 16:00. It is very convenient and well organized. We highly recommend using the hotel’s airport transfer both to and from the airport. When our flight from El Nido was unexpectedly canceled, the team went above and beyond and helped us organize a transfer all the way to Puerto Princesa. This level of support and care is rare and priceless. We will definitely return with great pleasure. Funny Lion is not just a hotel, it is a place where you feel truly taken care of. The best! Highly recommended.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We stayed at The Funny Lion in El Nido from February 18–23, 2026 and had an amazing experience. From arrival, we were warmly welcomed with a drink by the reception staff and security. The room was beautiful, very comfortable, and fully equipped. The hotel offers great facilities including a gym, spa, and free access to Papaya Beach with a well-organized drop-off and pick-up service. The swimming pool area is lovely, with sunbeds, bean bags, and plenty of seating. Everything is taken care of, and the staff remember your name and always take time for a friendly chat. The restaurant is excellent for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Breakfast is extensive, and the food is fantastic. Our rooftop dinner with a beautiful view, romantic setting, candles, and music was a perfect way to end our stay. We chose this hotel for our honeymoon and we were pleasantly surprised by friendliness of the staff and their professionalism. The staff remembers your names and call you every time they see you! That’s another level of customer service. Amazing facility and staff. They were also helpful with booking the tours and every inch of service. We were definitely wowed. Can’t get any better than this. They make you feel special. Highly recommend!!

The best hotel we have ever stayed at!! We had the most amazing time - the staff were so friendly and helpful for everything we could possibly need! The gym was fully equipped and air conditioned which was a pleasant surprise. The daily breakfast was incredible as well! Overall such an amazing value and could not recommend it enough. We hope to be back!
