Where do I begin.........We patronized this establishment since they day they opened the doors, enjoyed the food, was our go to place since it's in walking distance and we live in Asbury Park. We always make a reservation and if anyone on our reservation isn't going to show we let them know so they can accomodate us differently, typically it's never an issue. Recently we were there and we told the hostess our third person wasn't showing up so if she needed the table we would wait for a table outside for two, nope she said it was fine and seated us. Halfway through our meal we received a lecture from one of the wait staff telling us that they were very busy and we were holding up a table for 3/4, mind you I was eating my meal while being lectured. Again we have been patronizing and tipping very well for years there, good customers that believe in small business. My husband went inside to talk to the owner about how inappropriate this was and KRIS the owner defended his staff and condoned the behavior - as we took our food to go obviously, the owner continued to badger us basically letting us know he is always right and doesn't care how long we have been coming there. That was the last time we will ever go to The Galley and although the food is good, there are many more restaurants in Asbury that are just as good. Kris is the reason why at some point the Galley will "go down with the ship" - his arrogant approach and higher than mighty attitude with his customers(which I have seen and ignored for years since the food was good) is hideous and for the life of me I'm not quite sure why he chose to be in customer service. He is a mean spirited person who will think nothing of coming fist to cuffs with you instead of making sure your dining experience is wonderful. Catbird has wonderful food as well as everywhere on Cookman.
Good luck, I waited months to post this, but someone has to let people know they will be treated horribly if for any reason you need to converse with the owner. I had my own business and would never think of disrespecting anyone like you do, and you do it very loud at that! Shame on you for treating people so poorly, life is meant to be kind. I'll pray for you.
