The Galley Restaurant

We had a full 3 course meal here with some of the supliments. For starters we had the scallop and makrel, both were great. Mains were good, the duck was worth the extra price. I would skip the veg though, as nothing special. Dessert was good. The souffle was very impressive. They'd also swapped out one of the options for a special, which was nice. Overall it's really good value and absolutely no complaints. Service was very attentive and friendly.

The food was absolutely delicious, and the service was impressively fast. At first, I thought the portions might be small, but they were actually very satisfying and filling. Given the quality of the food, the prices felt incredibly reasonable—this is truly an honest and well-run restaurant. The dessert was outstanding! I’m not usually a fan of sweet treats, but the dark chocolate mousse was simply exceptional. It completely won me over. The staff were friendly, hardworking, and attentive, making the whole experience even better. A rare find in terms of both food quality and service. Highly recommended!

Was visiting with friends who had been previously. We all had the same starter which was fine. I ordered the deep fried haddock and chips as a main. It was fried to a crisp ,dry and inedible . The chips were equally over cooked . I could not eat it and was forced to send it back . The Manager apologised but my evening was rather spoiled . I paid for my starter and wine . They did not charge me for the main which I could not eat, I could not rccommend this restaurant

The food was absolutely delicious and service top notch. We went for a two-course fixed price but you could also get one for three courses. Portions look small but you get bread alongside and the dessert was generous. The restaurant is small and consequently fairly cramped but it all adds to the atmosphere. Loved the transparent high-level cistern in the Ladies! 😆 Booking advised as it’s popular.

I cannot recommend this independent restaurant more highly! The food was perfect, the service was attentive, and the atmosphere was excellent. Thank you for a wonderful evening! Plus I got a free firework display!

Putting it simply - top 5 restaurants in Devon. I had little expectations but had one of the most pleasant dining experiences. Everything is made smart and with a touch of love and care. The space is on a small side bit somehow all the tables are arranged in a way that you have lovely views, privacy and easy access to the amenities. Food is a both very locals in terms of ingredient and combinations but done and served in a fresh, artistic way. Every dish is a masterpiece of fresh local ingredients and flavour - texture combos perfectly made to show local food in all its fine dining glory. Wine list is interesting and moderately priced. Do pay a visit!

Owner run, small and intimate restaurant with friendly and efficient service. Food is perfect cooked and beautifully presented. Seafood is a strong point on a short but varied menu. Scallops are particularly good as is the fresh hake. The banana souffle is expertly cooked and is well suited to the recommended Monnbazillac. Well priced wine list.

We haven't been here for 9 years (we really should have been here more recently!) and glad to say it is still excellent. Scallops superb. Red Mullet absolutely delicious. Great attentive service and very reasonable cost for high quality dining. We'll not be leaving it 9 years and returning again soon!

The Galley is a lovely change to normal hotels. It offers lots of extras that have been really thought about and it is a very loved place. The accommodation above the restaurant is very different and offers all the comforts you would expect from an establishment like this. I highly recommend it! The food in the restaurant is fish and being slightly fussy I cant stand the stuff. The staff were very helpful and made me a fantastic pasta dish and a stunning steak! Go and try and see for yourself!

This is a lovely little restaurant with lovely seafood dishes. The staff are superb and the setting is just right. Highly recommended.
