Server treated herself to a 20% tip without consent. Go anywhere else and have better time for less money. Scam, don't waste your time / money.

Trivia with Julie on Wednesdays is always a fun time and Danielle is an exceptional bartender! We always make some great memories when we’re there!

Garage Bar is an attachment to the Pizza House restaurant next door. The bar features an open "garage" like feel with plenty of seating and televisions. The staff there was very helpful and friendly, which is always refreshing. As for the drinks, they have a ton of different beers on tap, if that's your thing. I believe they keep 32 at a time. Also, they have a mixed drink / shot menu with plenty of options. You wont leave this place thinking they didn't have a drink for you. And when you're done, there's always an option to go grab a slice of pizza. No complaints from me about garage bar. I'd definitely pay them another visit.

They charge you 20 dollars for a tab and you don't get the money back for 3-4 days

Literally don’t go here it’s a waste just go to Charley’s or Rick’s right next to it

Great patio & bar. Connected to the pizza place next door. Decently heated even when it's chilly. Good drinks. The tablets are a little wonky to work with, and both staff and customers didn't seem to love them. Trivia night was fun!

Google
Gar Bar Happy Hour and outdoor seating area are amazing... But the staff suck. The bouncers are always on some weird power trip - they will cut friend groups in half in line, question real IDs heavily, and just kinda mad dog people in general. cover is also super inconsistent (ranging from 5-20 dollars at any given time/night)

The concept was cool 😎 the bruchetta was okay. Staff was meh. 🤷‍♀️

Yelp
Attachment to Pizza House - lots of tables in a big, open, airy space. The heaters are good during a cold day or it's a nice space to hang out when the weather is good. Their happy hour is a bit vague and the pricing is oddly secretive. Despite them having online ordering they don't have a drink menu online and the happy hour is advertised (as of May 2024) as "up to 50% off drinks). My vodka soda during happy hour was about $5 which was fine (even though it was small, made with well, and served in a plastic cup) but it does seem concerning that the full price for said drink could be closer to $10. A bit egregious considering many places in the area have happy hours with real, good cocktails for the same price. The real draw of the happy hour menu imo is the list of $5 apps. I got two sliders with fries and they were good and the portion size was great for the price. While I was there, I saw a bartender making two drinks. He knocked one over and about half spilled out and he topped it up with ice and mixer. I'd be pretty pissed if that were my drink, ngl. For the vibe and the cheap eats I'm being a bit generous with 3 stars, otherwise it would be a 2. Overall much better places to drink in AA.

Yelp
Jerk bouncer at 4pm tried to charge. $390 cover for an empty sports bar. When I questioned it he says"talk to my a$$hole owner Dennis. 25 people in line left. What a terrible business model. Out of principle boycott this place.

Yelp
This place is actually a complete embarrassment and the bouncers have no idea what they are doing at the door. Jose confiscated my real (23 year old) ID and almost pocketed it until the police were brought up. When I tried going next door to pizza house to get a drink he followed me and told the bartender not to serve me because my ID was fake. Again, I am 23. Not sure how you can be that incompetent at your job. Would never recommend going here.

Yelp
To qualify - I went to this on a weekday afternoon during the summer months when most students weren't on campus, so it was pretty empty. That said, we had a good experience here. You order with iPads at the bar, which is honestly easier than talking directly to bartenders when it's loud. They have tons of screens inside and outside playing sports, and most of the outside seating is under a tent. The prices were fair and it was clean.

Yelp
Interesting place! Tons of outdoor tables (under a tent) no table service, you go up to order and pay. The food is brought in take out containers so the level of waste was a real downer. Single use plastic up the wazoo--there has to be a better way. Has to be. Paper containers would work in this setting. Food itself was typical bar food, but it was fine. Prices are fair, but eeeesh--the waste kind of put a damper on the mood

Yelp
i wish i could rate them zerio stars. they took my license and i had to call the cops to get it back. i am from MI, the fact that they can't recognize an ID from THEIR OWN STATE is embarrassing. clearly goes to show they cater to minors - a danger to the community and should be shut down, but if you're a freshman at umich this is probably a good place to check out :)

Marco M.

Yelp
Pretty great spot to have a beer. Great for game days, staff could be a little more friendly, especially the dudes at the door, make me want to poop my pants every time I walk in. Enjoy

Ryan S.

Yelp
$40 cover for the B1G championship game is absurd. If you're looking for a bar that preys on students while offering a subpar Gameday experience, this is the bar for you. $15 drinks, need to check a wristband to use the bathroom, and don't forget about the allegations -- an absolute comedy show

Yelp
Bouncer bent my friend's ID in half, left a dent and claimed that her ID was fake. He told them that they needed to call the police to prove that it was real and they did. No apologies. Staff was also rude and unprofessional. Don't come here unless you want a Ann Arbor's version of Dick's last resort.

John G.

Yelp
My interaction at Garage Bar: I asked how long the wait was, the bouncer gives me some rude answer "it'll take anywhere from 2 minutes to three hours." I ask him if the comment was necessary and then proceeds to immediately throw me out of the bar. Threatens to call the cops on me for asking how long the wait time was lol. I go to garage bar every week and usually enjoy it. With this treatment I will never go back again. DO NOT GO HERE!!!

Claire V.

Yelp
Going to garage bar has been a highlight of my senior year, so very disappointed to see them price gouging students for March madness during a pandemic. Almost $200 for an outdoor table and it doesn't go toward the tab? Do better garage bar/pizza house.

Jack C.

Yelp
Charging cover at 6pm? Waste of time. Looks like a decent place for a drink with large TVs but can't get over a bar thinking it's a club.

Rachel B.

Yelp
Current bouncer is an absolute asshole. He is always put out when you want to show up at his establishment and give them money. Absolute dick and reason alone not to come here. We had called weeks in advanced and reserved area outside for an event and he still made us wait outside in the rain and questioned our validity being there.

Abigail R.

Yelp
The service and staff here are UNPROFESSIONAL and straight up MEAN. I went to Gar Bar tonight with a group of my friends that are all 21+. They told my one friend her ID was fake (even though it was real), and they suggested that she call the cops if it was real. She did just that and called the police, and the employees at Gar Bar began to question if she was a student (which she is, but why do you need to be a student to go to this bar?) and continued to say her ID was fake. The police arrived and confirmed her ID was real and confirmed that she was a student (but again, why did it matter to these employees?). They continued to treat my female friend horribly, and these employees should not have been speaking to her the way they were in ANY SITUATION, but especially not when she was following every rule/law in the book. We will not be going back.

Yelp
This is the WORST BAR in Ann Arbor. Do not go here unless you want to be abused by the staff. The bouncers pick and choose who they want to enter the bar. My group was standing in the cold for 30 minutes and the bouncer kicked my group out for asking how much longer the wait would be. I can't imagine what other terrible experiences other customers have with the bouncers at this establishment. TAKE YOUR BUSINESS ELSEWHERE!

Don H.

Yelp
Bartender had customers in line and decided it was the best time to take a hit of another customers e-cig, weed pen, or vape while the customer was not wearing a mask...Check it out garage bar...approx. 1:38AM morning of Wed. Nov. 18th prior to shut down
