The 10 Best Thai Restaurants In Houston

"At the Galleria restaurant Thai Garden, expect to have a peaceful meal with a bowl of citrus-y tom kha kai and steaming drunken noodles laced with slivers of beef. In between bites, and with a few jazzy covers of top 40 hits in the background, take in the ornate decorations and make a mental note of how to carry the serenity home with you. Thai Garden is the place to be when you have a midday papaya salad craving, need a meal to instantaneously materialize as soon as you order, or are just in dire need of some snappy Thai sausage on a Thursday night." - chelsea thomas, gianni greene

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Best Thai food in Manhattan Beach—plus amazing service! The Pad Thai combo was packed with flavor and perfectly cooked proteins (shrimp, chicken, tofu, and egg). The crispy veggie egg rolls were delicious, and the fresh coconut drink was the perfect tropical touch. Everything was fresh, beautifully presented, and served with genuine care. The service was warm, attentive, and made the whole experience even better. If you’re looking for authentic Thai food in the South Bay, The Garden Thai is a must-visit!

Google
We been coming here for a long while but I think it switched owners because the food was a bit different this time I went. Also the chili sauce smelled like fish, it’s as if they cross contaminated it with some sea food or something or the fishy water got in with the sauce but the smell was really bad, and it made me not enjoy some of my food. It was still okay though but the chili sauce did smell like fish this time I went and the food was slightly different taste but it was still okay. The staff was friendly and kind and they did help us out and it’s a nice atmosphere but the difference was the food, and the crab puffs were a little cold. But I have been coming here for a while but the last two times I came the food was a bit different especially the taste and the chili smelled like fish

I usually order penang curry, drunken noodles and pad Thai with extra sauce. The veggie spring rolls are awesome! I order from this restaurant once every few months. Double check your order. Yesterday I ordered a tray of pad Thai with no onions and no bean-sprouts for my kiddo , and they still put it.

Google
We loved the food here although the waitress is a bit rude. We also asked for vegan option and another vegetarian option with no egg. She didn't take it correctly, but thats ok. Apart from that the food is great. We got TomKha soup, 2x Pad See Yews.

Google
This place is extremely wonderful! I come here regularly when I am in the area. The food portions are great, the service is fast, and the employees are very wonderful. I always ask for a cup of ice for my cola, and they do it! :) they also provide accurate orders, unlike McDonalds, which always forget something. The Hawaiian Fried Rice is beyond what I can describe. I am tempted to eat it daily ha ha

Google
We tried crab fried rice that recommended by people who had before, but I don't really like it and I don't think it's really good. Pad see yew was even worst, this is the worst taste I have ever tasted. I can recommended another Thai restaurant which have good taste, you guys can try Subhannahong Royal Thai Cuisine, they really make the food taste good. It's worth to pay a $14 crab fried rice there than here. The service here was not so good either.

Trever Braunberger

Google
I ordered the Thai fried rice, I would not recommend this to the public, or this restaurant in general it is overpriced and the rice has almost no flavor, stick with making white rice yourself at home, they're not much different

Kerry He

Google
Ordered garlic and pepper beef. The beef was very rough.

Yelp
Best Thai Fried Rice in the city and it's not even close! Everyone is super friendly and they work with your custom requests (no basil ). Very chill little spot that has killer seating and beer selection Perfect way to end your long day

Yelp
First time coming here.. I was craving Thai food and wanted to try a new place, it was definitely better than I expected! We were looking forward to the fire wings but they were very dry. 7/10 The Manhattan beach noodles were okay, it came with only two pieces of shrimp, I would have expected a little more. 7/10 The paw see ew had a very good taste, I really liked it. The quantities were okay for the price I guess? I loved the fact that the veggies tasted VERY fresh and they were crunchy too. The mango sticky rice was okay, didn't taste too fresh... I wouldn't get it from here again The service was great! The lady in the front was very kind and welcoming. Came in on a Wednesday night and the place was kind of empty. Looks a little small but perfect for a nice drink and meal! Will be back to try other dishes!

Yelp
Fantastic food. I've tried their chicken panang curry (medium spicy), vegetable tom yum soup (spicy), and pork pas sew. This is the best Thai food I've had in South Bay area, especially the consistency of the panang curry, very creamy. I only docked a star because they're extremely pricey. The curry is $16 and doesn't come with rice, which is fine, but they charge $4 for rice.

Yelp
Hands down the worst Thai Food I have ever had. Pad Thai. How in Gods name do you mess up pad Thai?? It tastes like if I made it at home following an online recipe. No actually it's worse than that and I'm a horrible cook. Then we had some soup that was super spicy and tangy and was just so off pudding. Guess all the non Asians in Manhattan Beach don't know better cuz I am blown away at some of these reviews.

Yelp
I did a pickup order of the spicy eggplant, the seafood pad thai, and the chow mein (not pictured here). They were quick to prepare the order but probably because the size of the eggplant and chow mein was small. The seafood pad thai was not in a small container but that's because it has bigger things like the mussels and fish. I thought it was ok but the person i shared it with did not like the squid. The pad thai was like your typical pad thai in terms of the sauce. The spicy eggplant was ok but it felt like there was more onion and bell peppers than the eggplant so it more felt like the eggplant was a side, not the main ingredient. The chow mein was the other person's favorite dish out of the other two. Mostly because it was plain and had a good balance of all the ingredients. To be honest this probably was not worth the $55-$60 I spent for the meal

Yelp
Driven by the restaurant several times and another place was closed and I wanted Thai. Quick service. 10 minutes in and out for the take out. I did have to request more spice (they make everything mild unless asked). I ordered the pad kee mow with chicken, chicken fried rice, and fried dumplings. It was solid. Prices are definitely comparable to every other place. If in the area, I would stop there

Yelp
Don't forget to order rice with the curry. Nothing worse than waiting 50 minutes for delivery only to discover white rice doesn't come with curry . Only in CA...
google avatar

Rhanda A.

Yelp
The pad Thai noodles were so good. You don't get pad Thai this food . Def will be coming back :)

Ann P.

Yelp
Did a takeout order was so disappointed with the size of the containers and what was inside them. I might eat there one day to see if the portions are larger. Seriously the portions were ridiculously small no value for our $100.00 meal.

Yelp
We love this place been there so many times Food is always delicious Freshly cooked Service is great Highly recommend

Yelp
Pretty good local Thai restaurant. Dining room is nothing special, probably better for takeout. Food is consistently good, service is always friendly. 4 stars

Yelp
Love the food . The Cerrato fried rice was amazing. Coconut ice cream serve with fried banana. Good vegan options
google avatar

Boo B.

Yelp
The only thing good here was the Tom yum soup. I saved a bowl so I could eat it with my pad Thai. I was so busy talking to my friend that the waitress/order taking lady took it away. Didn't ask if I was still working on it. I told her and she just laughed and said sorry. No replacement, no discount. It's the principle. If I shorted her $3.00 on the bill I'm sure she'd coming fighting for it. The rest of the food was just a joke for Thai food. Not coming again.
google avatar

Bryan A.

Yelp
The food was very tasty. Quiet little place to eat, but enjoyed the pad thai and the green curry. The utensils were clean and the service was very good. Take home leftovers for breakfast in the morning as well.

Yelp
I order from Uber eats , , I get deliver have of the food missing , I contact the restaurant they say they can't do anything, I have to pick up my self , I told them I'm sick that why I order from Uber eats , she can't do anything about it

Yelp
Always good. They are testing new menu items and it is soooo good. The Lime ice tea is really good too.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I love our Thai food and we came here for dine in. We were the only ones there! Although, the place was pretty busy taking call in orders and pick ups. Service was friendly and fast. We ordered the Crab Fried Rice (10/10), Pad See Ew (10/10), and Pad Thai (10/10). It was all a good portion for the two of us. Loveee the Crab Fried Rice! It was my favorite from the three items we ordered. What I also loved about this place is that they sell plants and have them displayed! I'm a plant lover and of course I had to support their little plant business. I bought this cute potted succulent for $10. They had this succulent shelf displayed outside and also have bigger potted plants inside. Moreover, this place is right next to a boba spot, so of course, we had to get boba right after dinner.

Yelp
This place was amazing my friends and i fell in love with how delicious everything was!! we were not disappointed at all. I had a very delicious red curry plate veganized, they can make a lot here vegan which is great! the fried banana with coconut milk ice cream was soooo delightful, I can't eat dairy & they went to the back to double checked if i could eat it, the service was very sweet & communicative! i definitely would come back here (:

Rachael K.

Yelp
Solid Thai food if you are looking for a place. The chicken pad Thai was what I got and it was pretty good!

Stephanie w.

Yelp
Came here this afternoon and ordered the mango sticky rice. Tasted AMAZING! Had a nice young lady help me out in the front and she was quick with the service and very kind. Ambiance is great, a very relaxing place to be on a Sunday afternoon and will definitely be coming back.

Skj L.

Yelp
Absolutely amazing so glad we decided to stop and try some where new instead of our same old boring regular spots! The food was great! I wanted to try everything was the only problem! So many good options
google avatar

Karthik K.

Yelp
Do not recommend. I used to order regularly. However, had a couple of instances where they goofed up their order and they didn't want to do anything about it and were just plain rude. Stay away. There are several other good Thai options in town.
google avatar

Angelica S.

Yelp
Ordered from Postmates- everything was delicious - been looking for a good thai place in south bay and this is my new favorite. Chicken satay was tender and juicy. I also ordered the green curry mild and was perfect alot of times i order from other places and its too spicy to eat but this place does it just right . The pineapple rice was flavorful and the portions were good.
google avatar

Hahn L.

Yelp
Food was okay but not authentic tasting - definitely more americanized. Prices were also high for what you get. Curry doesn't come with rice and you have to order it separately which is really weird. There's a plethora of good Thai restaurants in the area and I suggest you try one of those instead of here.
google avatar

Nancy G.

Yelp
Do not order delivery. You'll get a kids size portion. Definitely not worth $20. The 5 broken noodles I got were pretty tasty. Pork was very bland. Did not taste any like the noodles at all. I also ordered extra pickled peppers and didn't get them. But, what can I expect from a place that sells a kids meal for the price of a full entree? Never again!
google avatar

Brad S.

Yelp
Food is always fresh and tasty! Our go to place for a quick healthy meal. Favorites are: Garden RollsTom Yum Soup and garden vegetables

Yelp
This place was indeed "A-OK" I'd say nothing awe inspiring to write-home about, nor consider as a destination dining restaurant I'd personally travel to as a pointed effort. It was okay. The Happy Hour menu items seemed like they were priced fairly at a glance, but the portions seemed maybe proportionate to the prices, in other words, maybe not full sized orders... but if they were indeed full sized and the Happy Hour was at a discount, then at full-price, they're probably not worth it, considering at Happy Hour they were a tad less than Happy for us. Overall, the food was okay, it cost us about $60 for the 2 of us and we didn't take home any leftovers, which is an anomaly for Asian food. I generally get filled by Thai food for about $15-20 per person. The one great positive I can say about this place is that they use jumbo prawns for their shrimp dishes. Also, parking is easy here. The service was fast and friendly, so no complaints about attitude. It's an opinion review, so I'd not discourage others from trying it, as 2 of our friends who don't know each other, praise this restaurant (which prompted us to try it out and check it out on our own based on their rave reviews).

Anne T.

Yelp
Have to admit I agree with a number of other posters.............I am also very sad to write this review. We used to come here weekly since the very beginning and have loved the whole experience, food and service equally.............. Unfortunately after we got back late last year after a 2 year break, we tried our favorite Garden Thai 2 or 3 times and have noticed a HUGE difference in the food taste, quality and customer service..............which is in total and complete contrast to the the consistently positive experiences we had weekly up until mid-2022 (2 years ago) . We tried it yet again this evening this time just for 2 appetizers and the coconut shrimp was not only tasteless but completely overcooked and the chicken satay was totally forgettable.............not a great experience for $31.76!! There is no doubt the new management is NOTHING like the old.........................

Lauren A.

Yelp
Food is so delicious I always come back to this place. The curry is amazing and the pad thai is incredible

Vanessa S.

Yelp
Although the quality of food is good, the amount of food is not good. for example, I ordered pad Thai noodles with shrimp and broccoli and only had three shrimp and three broccoli. I expected more from this establishment, since I've been a loyal customer for years. They don't honor their customers. Which is sad because their customers are their lifeline. I also ordered sticky rice with mango, which is a dessert and the mango was rotted. They expect me to pay full price for this which I did, but will never again return to this establishment. They are greedy and don't recommend this place, they're many other Thai food places that are much better and less expensive and have more food to give.

Yelp
This is my third time ordering out at this restaurant and I already expect a longer than expected wait time as do the other patrons I encounter each time I've beenn here. Although I want to support local businesses as much as possible tonight was an epic fail and leads to my first negative review after years of using yelp. I ordered six dishes including coconut shrimp. After getting home I discovered the coconut shrimp was not in the bag. I drove back to ask for it and it was provided the dish within a minute. Clearly they had forgotten to provide it the first time. After getting home again my family began eating our dinner. A number of us bit into our coconut shrimps and immediately spit out our shrimp realizing the inside was raw. I returned for a third time to the restaurant and asked for a refund, and the owner, who was apologetic, tried to give me an unintelligable reason why she couldnt figure out how to issue a credit card refund and asked me if I'd like to receive store credit. After I demanded her to figure it out or give me a cash refund she then proceeded to hand me a $10 bill. I'm pretty sure this was less than the cost of the dish after tax but I was so disgusted and disappointed that I took the cash and left. One final note. When I returned the box of half eaten shrimp on my third trip to the restaurant she took the box of shrimp and put it on the counter where outbound dishes were placed to be bagged up, saying something to the cooks in the back. Not where you want to be putting returned food in my opinion. Despite tasty dishes which is what kept me coming back in the past, I dont think I'll be back here for a long time after this very disappointing experience.

Yelp
I have eaten here a few times, both for lunch and for dinner. This is a solid choice for Thai food. Service has always been friendly and helpful, but at times can be slow... sometimes frustratingly so. The taste of everything is spot on, no complaints. The only reason for the missing star would the wait times and the price, while reasonable, isn't a stellar deal, especially at lunch. Even so I am always happy to dine here!

Bella D.

Yelp
Great service...small but cute...food is great! I works definitely recommend this place
google avatar

Yelp
a little noisy w table clearing but otherwise quick service and always great food. pad kee mao is the best
google avatar

Yelp
Adorable place! Extensive menu and great care in presentation! A bit expensive for the portion size, but we liked it! They also sell plants here, hahaha! Nice people, and food came out quick. Many customers did take out.
google avatar

Yelp
Easy to call in to order and pickup. They give a lot of food in the togo Tupperware! Generous on their meat and noodles. Garden Thai is boyfriend's go to place for Thai food in Redondo. They even sell baby succulents! (Cash only)

Yelp
I was on a journey to find Orange chicken with Fried Rice from a Thai restaurant. I called multiple places and they didn't have it, but this place was the only place that had the Orange Chicken. So, I called in my order on a Friday night, and within 10-15 minutes the order was ready for pick up. I didn't experience dine in at this location, but it was nice inside and the service seems to be good. The food wasn't the best Thai food in town, but for what I could get I was happy. The noodles tasted like it was from a few hours ago and the orange chicken wasn't really an orange chicken. Overall 3 stars.

Yelp
Live down the street from this restaurant. Tried to come here for dinner with my wife and walked in at 8:12 PM. Was rudely told that they would not take my order or seat me. Quite silly given that their opening times and closing times are listed as closing as 8:30 PM. I am quite certain that the owner has no idea that the employees are closing the restaurant sooner than intended so that they can go home. I for one will not be going back to this restaurant, nor will I be recommending to any of our neighbors who live down the road from this restaurant. Thai dishes and bamboo Thai are much better places to go for those that want good food in the neighborhood. They care about their customers and really want to make sure that you are well taken care of. Unbelievable that a restaurant like this exists in our neighborhood where I have lived for over 20 years. It is no wonder that the restaurant was completely empty when I went in. Horrible customer service.
google avatar

Lisa K.

Yelp
Thai food here is always delicious! We like the panang curry, pad see ew and the seafood pad Thai talay is amazing! But why do some Thai places charge extra for rice when you order curry? This place charges $3 extra for rice, which is only a small single serving! Crazy! If my husband and I are craving this place, we make own save $6. We order our food to-go and they asked us 3 times if I needed rice, lol. Must be any easy up charge for them. Their prices are already more expensive than most other places...why not include rice with at least the curry orders?? Who eats curry without rice anyway? That's my reasoning behind the 4 and not 5 stars rating....I complain, but keep coming back because I really like their panang curry, lol! It's delicious, go try it!

Yelp
This place is located in a tiny plaza in the middle of a major, curvy, mostly residential street. So, you can miss it very easily if you are not looking for it. I ordered a bunch of dishes to-go on a Sunday. Oddly restaurants in this area either open at 11 AM or noon. We had the beef salad, pad see ew, green curry, yellow curry, and the thai fried rice. The beef in the beef salad was tough and hard to chew but rest of it tasted fine. Had better. Both the yellow and green curries tasted great. I drank it by itself afterwards. We had the white jasmine rice with it but it was really dry. Not the best for sure. The pad see ew was good. Oddly they used regular American broccoli instead of the Chinese broccoli but that's fine. What wasn't fine was that the broccoli was over done and browning. Feels like they used a lot of leftover and/or about to go back ingredients. It was a mix of good and not so good, which is the reason for the average rating.

Donna M.

Yelp
Time for an update! I can't believe it's been 4 years since the last review... but trust me, we get takeout regularly. Because. It's. Delicious! We get the Tom Kha Kai (creamy coconut soup), Pad See Woon with chicken, and Pad Won Sen with beef. And try something different each time. We're never disappointed. It's healthy yummy food.

Yelp
To be completely transparent, I probably shouldn't be writing this review right now because I am hangry and not feeling well. I called my order in at 5:36. The person who took my order told be that the order would be ready in about 20-30 minutes. I left my house at 5:50 and the drive there was 12 minutes. I had to wait another 20 minutes to get my order. They kept apologizing... sweet, but didn't help me at all. I needed to get to Whole Foods before the juice bar closed for a wellness shot. Guess who didn't make it to get the damn wellness shot... ME!!!!! Argh!!!! Now... the restaurant was clean, cute with one waitress tonight who was working her ass off and a young girl working the register. There's ample parking and the prices are more than reasonable. We ordered Pad Thai, spicy fried rice and Thai fried rice with chicken. I wasn't impressed because the spicy had no kick and the pad Thai was dry. I may try this again when I'm feeling better and I can sit in the restaurant to order. As of now... I'm left with sooooo much more to be desired.

Yelp
I got to checkout The Garden Thai restaurant recently when my coworkers took me out for lunch for my birthday! It's a small, cute restaurant that is located next to the Boba Loca in Manhattan Beach. Mondays to Fridays they have lunch special that is served with spring mixed salad and steamed Jasmine rice or Brown rice. The menu has very traditional Thai food with even traditional Thai names! I chose to get their Kaeng Daeng which is red curry. The lunch specials are very reasonable priced from $10-$12. Similarly their entrees run around the same price range. I enjoyed my Kaeng Daeng dish very much. It was actually a good portion of red curry with chicken, veggies and bamboo shoot. The curry sauce itself was wonderfully flavored and great topping with the white rice. I had actually asked for brown rice but they accidentally gave me white rice but it worked out well with the curry. Overall I really enjoyed have a small birthday lunch here with coworkers. The place is nice and quiet. I liked the food a lot. I also thought the flavors were on point. I definitely will be back to try more of their dishes.

Yelp
I read a Yelp review for this new Thai restaurant and stopped in for dinner that same night. My husband ordered the Tom yum noodle soup and enjoyed it. I had a taste of the broth and it was very flavorful. I ordered pad woon sen with shrimp and it was delicious. There were about 6 huge shrimp in this dish and the glass noodles were cooked perfectly...sometimes the noodles are over cooked and mushy at other restaurants. The restaurant is fairly small, but we were able to find a table when we visited on a Friday night. We had to wait a while for our food to arrive at our table, but it was worth the wait. Can't wait to go back to check out the crab noodles!

Yelp
Food was delicious!! I loved it. Got Pad Thai with Chicken and Pad See Ew with beef and pork. We both got spicy and PLEASE READ THIS. Only ask for spicy if you can handle spicy food. It was sooooo spicy. We both couldn't finish our plates. But it was delicious. Just beware lol

Yelp
Absolutely phenomenal experience!!! Food was exceptional and the service was even better!! Just so you know, I will be back!!! Service with a smile, even behind the mask (kn95)!!

Yelp
THrice or so I ate here! With a beautiful friend of mine, who I am trying to gain her love and trust! :)))) But it's taking sometime... Heck I don't even know if we are headed that direction... but my roommates and more sensible people tell me NOT TO BE AGGRESSIVE! Which I find unfortunate for my wallet, but also my time. So I have no choice but to play the long game to love :). I do enjoy it, but one trip to another country and you have people who would love to be around you :). Why is it harder here for some? That is the mystery of the UNIVERSE! Watch Neil DeGrasse, he'll agree :) There is nothing I can do... I enjoy her company, I've told her I Love her (you know in a loving way) I have been there for her on occasions, sometimes quite difficult (for her situation, and at her age). Also these meals... at this wonderful Thai restaurant, which you thought you wouldn't get a poorly written love story... but you DID! and you MUST READ ON! The Orange Chicken is my Fav, and so is the Pad SEW MEE, and you want to know why? Because the Nameless woman I am with has ordered it a few times... so that is why I KNOW it will be my favorite for awhile... As with all young men, we take one for team, hoping to advance to the finals. since this is always a game, and requires work, love, dedication, committment, strong will, leadership, guidance, counseling.... more, mas, mas.... And Orange Chicken and Pad Sew Mee :)

Yelp
Green curry was so good!!! The rice was also very fluffy. Definitely would come here again

Yelp
This new little restaurant was a hit this evening. After a friendly greeting, we had our choice of seating. The place has new, freshly painted walls, bright and cheerful. The accent pillows, tiny tabletop fresh flower arrangements and clean aesthetics are refreshing and make for a pleasurable dining experience. The staff was quick to deliver a carafe of water with lemon and ice. We started with crispy spring rolls that arrived hot and beautifully presented. The veggie filling was fresh and crispy, these little rolls were NOT sitting around waiting to be ordered! The chicken satay was excellent, none of that dry chicken that's been sitting under a heat lamp. It was served with a crispy cool and sweet cucumber and onion accompaniment and the traditional peanut sauce. For our main, we shared the garden fresh steamed veggies, Jasmine rice and the Mussamun curry. We asked for medium spiciness and we were very pleased...the dish cleared our sinuses! The dishes were quite delicious and the service was lovely. They deliver and offer take out, great location for take out, close enough to stay piping hot on the drive home. Portions are decent, the two of us were very full. Prices are decent too...under $43 including a generous 20%+ tip. I love that the place is small enough that you can hear the cooks and staff talking to each other...have no idea what they're saying bit it was fun to hear their enthusiasm and see their smiles. The restaurant is located on the north end of a small center. Ample parking and easy to get into/out of. Happy friendly place that we will absolutely visit again...soon!
