The 13 Best Nachos In LA

"The classic Mexican spot in West Hollywood transitioned into a full-time takeout operation a few years ago, making it a good option if you're having people over last minute and need food on the table fast. The crowd-pleasing menu has everything from tacos and enchiladas to wet burritos, but their nachos are a particular highlight. Lathered in cheese, guacamole, and sour cream, these are the kind of hearty nachos that you put down on the table at a party, and they're gone within minutes. Protein options range from sirloin steak to chorizo, but our favorite is the juicy al pastor, which has been expertly layered throughout, assuring every chip gets in on the fun.  " - brant cox, sylvio martins, nikko duren, garrett snyder, arden shore

Saturday 5/31/25 We chose to try this new place as a birthday dinner from my daughter. I ordered the chicken mole enchiladas and my daughter ordered the cheese quesadilla. We placed the order after we called the restaurant to ask what type of cheese they used as it didn’t notate it anywhere in Uber Easts menu, and we prefer Mexican white cheeses in Mexican cuisine. A very nice spoken gentleman answered the phone and told us the cheese was a mix of Jack and Cheddar. We asked if it was possible to only use white cheese but he said it came packaged mixed so there was no way. We were not going to order because we don’t like yellow cheese but the nice man said “try it, you’re going to love it!” So we placed the order. I was surprised to see how small the quesadilla package was. The tortilla folded in half was pretty flat, and very oily from the melted American Jack & cheddar cheese. My meal was the enchiladas. The sauce was very bitter and tasted a lot like enchilada sauce rather than mole sauce. The American Jack & Cheddar cheese didn’t make it any better. The beans were the best although a bit salty. The rice was ok. I was so hungry so I ate my birthday dinner and I also didn’t want to seem ungrateful for the food. By 2am I woke up with the worst pounding headache I’ve ever had. Soon after, I felt nauseous and threw up everything that was in my stomach. The worst colic pains too. My stomach has been upset since. I ate once on Sunday and threw it all up again. Today is Monday and I’m still having stomach problems. I thought the food was going to be authentic Mexican cuisine as the name suggests and like you will find all over Mexico. But it is not. It is totally Tex-Mex. The little Canel’s chewing gum packet was a nice touch.

OUR GO TO SPOT! We have been ordering here for 3+ years and it never disappoints. We usually order delivery which always on point. I recently picked up for the first time and its this cute little spot. It's perfect in every way. My man's got to order is the burrito meal that come with a side of rice and beans. I just found my new go-to order which is the enchiladas suizas, SO GOOD! & don't even get me started on the price. 10/10. This place knows what they are doing!

Google
The quesadilla was the only thing keeping this meal from being a total flavor blackout. I ordered two burritos, a soft taco, and a quesadilla—$42.50 total. The burritos at least arrived warm, but they had almost no flavor. Good filling texture, sure, but there was nothing memorable about them. Same story with the taco. I kept going back to the quesadilla between bites just to remind my taste buds that seasoning still exists. Even the salsa was bland—closer to tomato sauce than anything with real punch. I ended up doctoring it at home just to make it edible. The overall food quality wasn’t bad, just incredibly underwhelming. It felt like maybe I got the end-of-day batch, like the last bits of meat thrown together without much care. If I had to rate it, I’d give the whole meal a 2 out of 5. The quesadilla alone might deserve a 3, but that’s about it. If I ever order from here again, it’ll only be for that.

Google
We are addicted to this spot. Everything is fantastic, perfectly made and legit. Carnitas burrito w/green sauce is my favorite but I’ve had tacos and enchiladas. My wife easily finds good veggie choices and the cat that works the front is a very pleasant.

Google
They say the order is ready for pick up for delivery services even before they start cooking it, so they waste the whole night for the driver. I’ve been waiting 20 minutes for a small order. Every time it’s like this. I just blocked them on my app, never again. Response to response: it’s every time not just one holiday. And it doesn’t matter your excuse even if it is. The point is is that you’re hitting “ready for pickup” before you’ve even started making it, pushing the delay onto the drivers.

Google
The food here is fiyah! I always get the shrimp quesadillas, so flavorful. I tried the borne in the sauce enchiladas bomb, tacos bomb. The pasta bomb. I haven’t tried anything that wasn’t good tbh. Salsa is great too. Can’t post videos or pics I eat the food too fast! Guy that works at the counter is always really nice too.

Google
When they had a physical, dine in restaurant, they deserved 5 stars for that. Their food is really good and they are all very friendly. Had to get the socks. I’d never, ever wear socks with any other restaurant logo on them. Steve is a great guy, very friendly and upbeat, always welcoming my offbeat self.

Google
The best late night bite on this side of town. It's not even close. And my fav veggie burrito. The potato Al pastor has saved me on multiple occasions

Yelp
What a hidden gem! I've been living a mile away from this hole in the wall and never saw it! Delicious and greatly priced mexican take out! Their nachos are legit and they use lots of real cheese, big flavorful chunks of steak, lots of guac, pico de gallo... they have al pastor potato tacos... carnitas, chicken, pork, omg. Burritos, hard shell and soft tacos...They have beer, sodas, and the most delicious margarita! (Made with wine, guava, pineapple, lemon, wow!!) Apparently celebrities come here all the time. Super friendly service!! This is going to be our spot for late night snacks. Or lunch or anything in between. Menu is a QR code

Yelp
This is the second time I've been to Taxco and the second time I forgot to take a photo because it was too late lol The food is so delicious. I usually get a Surf and Turf burrito (shrimp & asada) and I add sour cream & guac. I get it wet with red sauce. The burrito is huge and very filling! They do not skimp on the shrimp either there's a bunch of big pieces! The burrito has great flavor that I enjoy. It also comes with chips & salsa. The burrito with the add ons cost about $16.50, so decent prices as well. Ambiance: They only have this location set up for pick up so there are no tables are anything. Extremely casual. Customer service: they were very kind! No problems there. I walked in and placed my order and was out in about 15mins.

Yelp
I don't know what all these high ratings are eating, but what I just got for delivery is unacceptable. order: pastor burrito - mystery meat. pastor is not supposed to be ground pork. the meat in the burrito was grounded salty something or other with a ton of salt and oil. one bite and threw it out. pretty sure it was ground beef. hard shell tacos - zero seasoning on the meat, cheese was waxy and hard and the shells were stale cheap store bough brand. we didnt even eat them. quesadilla - cheese plain kid ate one star eschebiche - vinegar and veggies. no taste nothing pico de gallo - lol. pretty horrible.

Yelp
This is hands down the best mexican food in Weho. Esteban the owner is the man, great family run business and the food is always made with love. I dare to say they have the best chips and salsa in LA!
google avatar

Kami S.

Yelp
Wanted some cheap mexican and it was late at night around 11 pm. They only have take-out or delivery, so we had to eat it in our hotel room. Got the chicken mole and the ala crema enchiladas, both were so fricken good! Really great mole sauce and the crema was so creamy and yummy. Also special honor on the side of beans, really cheesy and so delicious. Would definitely come here again and order the exact same thing.

Yelp
Best Mexican Food in WeHo. This is my go to place after work (and has been for over a year)- to go only - this family longtime-owned place from an obscure place in Mexico called Taxco, and people, this is authentic. Great vibes too, ALWAYS
google avatar

Yelp
This is my new El Pastor burrito spot , I love a good burrito when I'm in weho. Easy to pick up and guy at the front was cool and nice, hooked it up with the sauces and chips! Nothing fancy just good food in a brown bag yummy!

Javier I.

Yelp
Gardens of taxco has the best customer service and most importantly tastiest and genuine mexican food. Esteban, the cashier at the front will double even triple check every single order that goes out to make sure you get everything in order. Not once have they got my order wrong, cold, or without napkins and utensils. Truly a place worth going to time and time again. If you have issues with delivery, remember doordash and uber both hire untrained foreigners who run multiple delivery apps at once(against guidelines) and speak almost no english, don't take it out on the restaurant, they make the best mexican food in LA.

Lee H.

Yelp
Ordered take out. Used to be a common place to go in the past. Food was still really good. Easy answer when under the weather

Miguel I.

Yelp
This hidden gem in WEST HOLLYWOOD has a special feature- Chicken in SECRET ORANGE sauce plate with rice/beans with flour tortillas on the side! THERE IS NO MEXICAN RESTAURANT in L.A. that has a dish that can compete with this SPECIAL ORANGE SAUCE! It will change your life! Also try Esteban's special guava margaritas! Also a unique margarita in all of Los Angeles! Tell them Miguel sent you.... Enjoy

Yelp
This is the sort of place you will dream about when too much time has passed since you've been. You will feel like they are a part of your family because that is how welcoming and incredible they are. Above all, you won't find better Mexican food anywhere else on the planet.
google avatar

Angelica N.

Yelp
I probably order the enchiladas suizas from here at least once a week. 10/10 recommend!

David G.

Yelp
Great portions, u get alot of food for the price which is amazing ! Get the green salsa it's so good!
google avatar

Natalie G.

Yelp
Love this spot so much, we order it at least once a week. The hard shell taco plate is our favorite -- we order it every time. Sometimes I also get the horchata. The orders are ready quickly (usually 15 mins) and usually 100% correct with no issues. The one constructive criticism I have for them is to please make the refried beans & Mexican rice vegan/vegetarian/kosher/halal friendly by making them with veggie stock (instead of meat stock). It would be a simple change that would be much more inclusive to many various diets, and I don't think the carnivores would even notice the difference at all. Most restaurants do this already, and it would be really nice if this one did too. Please please please consider it!

Yelp
Note: I saw this place on DoorDash, saw it was close enough to walk, and came over hoping to sit down and eat; just know it seems to be takeout only at the moment, the dining room was closed when I got there. This is a nice, almost hidden Mexican place that serves *huge* amounts of food. It's pretty no-frills inside, with only a small waiting area in front of the gray counter. The employees are sweet and kind, but the one guy working the register took a little *too* much time noticing and getting to people waiting at the counter. I got a burrito combo with beans and rice; I ate the burrito over lunch and dinner while the beans, rice, and chips were filling enough to last me for another meal entirely. I had the al pastor in mine, and it was pleasantly tasty. I actually very thoroughly enjoyed the rice and beans, tasted like they were made with love. This is good, homey, *large portioned* Mexican food at a decent price.

Yelp
Great food! Reasonable prices. Best Mexican food in town!!!! This will definitely be a go to spot for me.

Yelp
I don't ever leave reviews but this place blew my mind. I was walking around the neighborhood with my incognito-wine-in-a-starbucks-cup and almost passed this place. I recognized the name and was like ok I'm hungry. Went in, the people there were super nice and helped me order after I explained that it was my first time and that I was also extremely stoked. Now into the good stuff. I said I wanted 3 tacos so I ordered a chicken soft taco and let the man handle the rest. He suggested the carnitas and the pastor and let me just tell you, Internet, everything was a hitter. I was mad at myself for having lived her for almost 8 months and now just trying this place. The memories we could've made sooner Another customer waiting outside told me that their steak option was, and I am not kidding you, "exquisite," hahaha and then he said their burritos and enchiladas were also really good. I was like copy, I know what I have to do. Told the GoT family I'd see them next week but honestly praying I get hungry again soon so I can catch them before they close (midnight), but if not will definitely go again tomorrow. Great people, great food, salsa and chips were also awesome--just a note that they don't have indoor or outdoor dining so either sit on the curb/grass area, grub at home, or eat in the car, don't matta because the vibes will be good any which way. Excited to try the entire menu

Yelp
Best Mexican in weho! Everything is delicious. I get the carnitas burrito with the chili verde sauce on the side. Al pastor hard shell tacos and the mac and cheese. The Mac and cheese is lighter than others but a nice change and delicious. They only do take out and delivery. The vegetarian menu is on point too! Support them!

Raagini C.

Yelp
Literally such amazing food and the nicest family run business! It's a secret hidden gem in West Hollywood for sure.
google avatar

Mike C.

Yelp
My coworker who is Mexican recommended this place so I had to try it. It's all takeout and delivery. Prices are very reasonable. You get a good amount of food for your money and the entrees come with rice, beans, and chips and salsa. I got the Chicken that was Born In The Sauce which was super flavorful and tasty. One small issue was there was a small bone that luckily I didn't choke on. But the dish is so tasty. Highly recommend it. My friend got the Salsa Verde Enchiladas which I tasted and were great too. Also got a Al pastor taco that was only okay. The meat was quite dry. I wouldn't recommend the tacos but both entrees were excellent. I'll be ordering again in the future.

Yelp
A simple door with a red neon open sign on the side window is Gardens of Taxco, a secret gem, a home meal away from home, and a neighborhood staple. We love Steve and the crew! The food is fresh, authentic, and beyond tasty! It's a take-out only place, but I promise you, one bite, and you'll be saying what chairs and tables?, like an ex you've officially gotten over. MJ
google avatar

Juan U.

Yelp
Fire food, drove all the way from OC to eat here. Used to love to go into their restaurant for the whole experience but now it's only a store front. The food quality stayed the same throughout the years. I recommend the Chicken Born in the Sauce, super addicting. I do like that now you can get a la carte items. The only thing I wish he had was a sign outside, which I am still glad to do for him or open a location in Orange County. A must try if you are in LA.
google avatar

Tom W.

Yelp
Best nachos to go in town! Probably. Also why aren't there any modern lists of "best nachos in town" online? I can only find lists from 2015-19, wtf?? Hi-Tops bar in WeHo has really good nachos. They have a really good delivery method with their nachos. I DIGRESS! Anyway, we love Taxco and they have good soyrizo options.
google avatar

Jeffrey Y.

Yelp
Best Mexican food in West Hollywood and Hollywood. Only does delivery or take out but totally worth it!
google avatar

Brandon P.

Yelp
Ordered two wet carnitas burros for delivery. First time eating here and went based solely off the stats provided here through yelp . The restaurant did not disappoint. Ingredients are fresh, tasty and filling. I highly suggest the tangy, savory green tomatillo green sauce with the carnitas as it's an excellent balance for the richness of the meat. They also crisp their carnitas which I really enjoy. Can't wait to try this place in person!
google avatar

Jason O.

Yelp
Gardens of Taxco is serving some fire Chicken Mole. It's my new go to comfort food. I haven't tried anything else from this place but today is 4th time ordering from here in the last month. That should say some thing!
google avatar

Maressa B.

Yelp
Has been a go-to for Mexican delivery for my family and me for years! Sad I never got to go to the brick and mortar restaurant when that was around, but so grateful that we still get to enjoy the food. I love the enchiladas suizas with chicken or shrimp, the chicken or shrimp drive thru tacos, anything mole (enchiladas or platter), my husband digs the carnitas, my sister loves the pico and pickles! Guac is always a winner. Tried a side of the "born in the sauce" crema (like a Mexican vodka sauce) and the mac and cheese (made with crema) recently, and it's awesome! In short, everything here is fresh, hot, homemade heavenly authentic Mexican - you can't miss!

Jenna S.

Yelp
They no longer serve real chorizo tacos (only soyrizo) and no longer cut the chicken and steak into tiny chunks but large chunks.
google avatar

Aneisha H.

Yelp
This was some of the best and authentic Mexican food I've had in a long time. The customer service was also awesome. There's no inside dining and it's take out only. Parking was easy and metered. I will be going back. Pricing was decent too considering the portions. My only downfall was for the to go nachos to do the chips differently bc my chips were soggy by the time I got home to eat them. I will be back and I recommend this spot
google avatar

Bon V.

Yelp
Solid Mexican food take out in West Hollywood. Burritos especially were pretty good. Everything tasted fresh and made from scratch. Pretty cheap for the area especially for the quality.
google avatar

Nick C.

Yelp
Gardens of Taxco is one of my favorite late-night hits. I usually get the Carnitas Enchiladas Suizas with an extra habanero salsa verde, and it's delicious every time. The meat is so juicy and flavorful. Plus the enchiladas come with rice/beans, chips/salsa, and a banana cream dessert--a perfect combo! Delivery on food apps tends to take awhile, but takeout has been on time and dependable every visit. I highly recommend coming to Gardens of Taxco!
google avatar

Nikki B.

Yelp
best affordable mexican restauraunt in the area. sit down quality food at take out prices. Ive yet to have anything i dont like here.
google avatar

Patrick D.

Yelp
There's no place better in WeHo or the surrounding areas for authentic Mexican food, with the most incredibly friendly service. Having lived in central Mexico for many years, I feel like I can say that with great confidence. Sabe bien chilango! You can't go wrong here! It feels like a community eatery as they remember you each time! A real gem. Let's all cross our fingers that they can open a full service restaurant again soon in the area, because when they do, we can all rest assured that the experience they provide--like the food--will be top notch... You'll find me there every weekend! Thank you, Gardens of Taxco, for setting such a find example for the best food with great service at affordable prices. Five stars all day, every day! Vegetarian options: Yummy vegan burrito, and many other options! I like to order it wet with red salsa.
google avatar

Manny L.

Yelp
Delicious food period. I drive from the San Fernando Valley to enjoy this gem. The "Chicken Taxco" dish alone is well worth the drive.
google avatar

Brad R.

Yelp
Great food. Hwood legendary eatery from back in the day. Only takeout now but we'll worth it! Friendly service. Nostalgia for "it was bornnnnn in that sauce" was enjoyed with grandson who was working that night.
google avatar

George A.

Yelp
I went out of the country for 5 weeks and all i was thinking about was to go back to l.a to eat some gardens of taxco, they're that good.. The quality of the food is amazing, no better mexican food out there. For what i pay, I always feel like im underpaying because i get so much food for what i pay. Must stop, the absolute best.
google avatar

Audrey N.

Yelp
Mostly a takeout restaurant but probably one of my favorite takeout spots for Mexican in Los Angeles. I haven't had anything I haven't liked here. I usually always get a burrito bowl but their enchiladas are also amazing

Juliana E.

Yelp
Esteban and the fantastic Gardens of Taxco crew have done it again! There is a reason the line is out the door without much signage outside. Taxco is so special. Open late, consistently excellent food, and nicest folks in town. Enchiladas are great as always and the guac is my favorite. Thank you again Esteban!! See you again soon, Juliana & Max

Chris N.

Yelp
The food is great, but the logistics for pick are absolutely dreadful. The waiting area is about 15sf with every door dasher and customer crammed in waiting for their order. There's no system to know if your order is actually ready. You have to fight to be seen. Meanwhile, the ONE guy working the counter is also taking phone and online orders. You might get a text that your order is ready, but I've had to wait 15 minutes after getting a notification and there's still no way to get to the guy at the counter. I love the food, but it's not worth the stress of fighting to get it. You also have to find and pay for street parking just to pick up your food. They need to create a better system.

Yelp
Gardens of Taxco is one of my oldest Yelp bookmarks so even though it was past my eating window (breaking my own intermittent fasting rules, over here!), I couldn't pass up a chance to try what my traveling companion had ordered. Burrito Bowl with grilled chicken tasted fresh & healthy without sacrificing flavor. (I have to remember that all white meat chicken is a protein option for when I order this for myself). Chips were thin & not oily & both red & habanero salsa packed some torturous & addictive heat. Didn't try but she ordered an empanada de cajeta (I had to draw the line somewhere & pass on dessert so late at night.) I'm dying to try their hard shell tacos and a cream-based dish called The Chicken that was Born in the Sauce. So full disclosure: I've been to LA twice in two months to see a certain *ahem* new kid *ahem* but now I can't wait to head south again just to re-visit all the incredible restaurants I discovered this past trip.

Stanley V.

Yelp
This is when it was a restaurant in the late 70s Took my bf ...service exptional...they didn't have a menu..the server recited it to us..6 course dinner including dessert all fresh cooked. Server lighted cigarette for him..sangria very tasty.. Miss that wonderful place

Gag D.

Yelp
The food at this restaurant is really good, but the customer service needs improvement. I had to wait 20 minutes just to order because the cashier area was crowded with delivery drivers who weren't even ordering. Despite telling an employee I needed to place my order, they asked me to wait again. After I finally ordered, they told me it would take 20 minutes, but I ended up waiting 30. I hope the owners address these issues soon.
google avatar

Anthony G.

Yelp
Probably the best Mexican food on the West side. Nachos are big enough to share and are always perfect. Honestly the quality is consistently high in general. To add, Stefan is always nice as well which is a rarity on this side of town.
google avatar

Jay A.

Yelp
Did Grub hub tonight from Gardens of Taxco. I remember the old Gardens of Taxco on Harper and was happy to see them in a new space offering delivery service. Right now I am eating wonderful Chiles Rellenos. The flavors are amazing and the chiles are perfect. I was not expecting food this good. On Yelp they have 4 stars; however, the Chiles Rellenos in front of me are 5 stars. The flavors/seasoning absolute 5 stars. Dan right now is enjoying their 5 star Carnitas. The pork was cooked perfectly. Dan is fussy when it comes to Mexican food, what he got tonight was real San Diego Mexican food in Los Angeles. We really were not expecting Mexican food this great. Initially I was giving them 4 stars and 1/2 way through this magnificent meal realized this is a 5 star deal. Can't wait to order from them again!

Camillo D.

Yelp
If you know, Mexican food, you definitely know this place! One of my favorite Mexican restaurants ever! I've been coming to this place for years. The ambience and service is amazing. I miss the old restaurant, but this place is still amazing. Looking forward to getting takeout soon. Keep up the good work!
google avatar

Charlie S.

Yelp
i only went there for the refried beans and the bean burritos. crazy good. mix it with the rice and its outta sight

Madison D.

Yelp
Chicken born in the sauce has changed my life. Considering to have my future child born in the sauce as well.
google avatar

Richa V.

Yelp
I ordered this for delivery. I got the whole wheat tortilla soy chorizo burrito and it was so filling I could only finish half of it in one sitting. I will say, because of the soy chorizo, it is more oily than other vegan burritos. The order also comes with fresh tortilla chips and salsa, which is really good! I also got the habanero salsa and it really hit the spot. I would definitely eat here again.

Tom K.

Yelp
All of the food was really tasty. Great portions and super authentic. Some of the best Mexican food I've ever had.
