Family Ns are creatures of habit - and as a result, we rarely stray from the village for din, but as the mediocrity in town rises and more interesting places open down valley, we were urged to be bold by J, and to the Gashouse cabin we went.
Adorned in license plates and Epic passes of yesteryear with servers in service shirts that harken to the resto's origin as an actual gas station, the vibe is all man, but the approach to food is thoughtful.
Absolutely say yes to the bread - warm, crispy, steaming - we also did a crab cake and some oysters - and of course salads. If you're feeling more gamey, start with a buffalo ravioli, elk tidbits, rocky mountain oysters, or grilled quail. Interested in the ocean? Baked oysters, calamari, shrimp skewers aplenty.
If you still haven't gotten your protein - the buffalo ribeye and elk tenderloin were enjoyed, as were the babyback ribs. For the less adventurous, they have more trad meat options - prime rib, filet mignon, NY strip. If you're with a veg friend, they have pasta alfredo, but at a place that takes pride in its meat and seafood, I'm not sure it's the ideal menu for a non-carnivore.
Service is friendly and knowledgable.
Starters are $7-66, mains $18-49. Would return.
