Nice ambiance with great small bites. I went here with one of my uncles for an event and we enjoyed ourselves. Definitely recommend.

Worse $2.3K I have ever spent. It is the most unsociable, social club. All of the events are geared to women and gay men (I don’t want to decorate cupcakes). The women are very caddy and high strung to meet men that it makes the experience uncomfortable. The only overtly friendly women are on the board and they are being paid to be friendly. Do not waste your money. You have to pay for practically everything on top of your membership fee and the turnover is so bad that you will probably never see anyone more than three times before they cancel their membership! Just go to a lounge or nightclub cheaper and greater return on investment. You will not be networking or socializing! They don’t have guest passes for a reason. If you went you would never signup!

I recently worked from The Gathering Spot during a trip to DC, and it was fantastic. The space was accommodating and comfortable, with plenty of spots to hunker down for hours of productive work. The food in the restaurant was tasty, and the staff was friendly, engaging, and delivered top-notch service. It felt like a perfect mix of grind and good vibes. Safe to say, I’m looking forward to making this my go-to spot during future DC visits.

I had an amazing time here attending as I went to this book event for my 32nd birthday! The Gathering Spot is beautiful and put together. There is parking along I Street, just arrive early to find it. This event was an evening event of film/fireside chat/ and book signing. The author and his wife did a fine job selecting the bookseller as well (pictured below.) Black-owned business ready to prepare for the event. If I went to more social events in DC I think I'll keep this in mind especially if I want to join later. Thank you for a stellar 32nd birthday 🎈🎂😎🎉💟, I had so much fun!!

The Gathering Spot DC is something different. I'm a member of a city club and a member of the Gathering Spot and it's truly a community. The staff has always been amazing and their culture around how they operate as an organization is aspirational. Food is fire 🔥 and service is always top notch. Complete reccomendation!

The gathering spot rarely has gatherings. I joined mainly but not exclusive to these two reasons, to network and meet with like minded folks on a consistent bases and the “complimentary breakfast” which was initially apart of my membership but they changed it without even consulting its members. The breakfast portion was apart of my morning routine so you can understand walking in and staff telling you that “we no longer offer that” left me feeling uneasy. I joined during CBC because of the events hosted there during that week but the events and gatherings were almost non existent after CBC. The gathering spot is still a good place to watch a football game with friends but honestly not very special. The staff were helpful and friendly but I felt some members of the FOH weren’t being authentic. There are just so many other social clubs in the area that have so much more to offer and that are actually black owned.

Absolutely love being at the Gathering Spot, the vibe is amazing and you can network with so many people. The food is also top notch.

In fairness it could be due to the events being private and blacks in technology type of events, but know a few folk with memberships. This place is good for a 20 something, but anything over should find more mature spots with full service. I've only been here for 2 private events. The servers were great, but getting things were like a puzzle for something as simple as a bottle of water, which they didn't sell and I found out after being sent from the bar to the food table to another drink table. One event had finger foods, but it was like chasing the server down when you sporadically found them to get an item. There is only one set up bar stand and the rest have been folding tables. The bartenders make great drinks. The food is overpriced and not much come with it, for a small amount of fries and 6 wings it cost $25(Gratuity of 20% was auto added). The parking around the place can be very tricky to navigate and didficult to find. I love that it's black-owned and great for new careerist and those still in the early development stages of their careers. However, it wasn't really for me, a 38yr old woman, well off into my career. Now I turn up when I turn up, but this place has never given me that vibe.

I've heard about this space for a while and I finally made it. The space was beautiful!!!!!! I came here for a nightlife event and was pleasantly surprised by the beautiful minimalist aesthetic. I really liked the open kitchen on the second level opposite of the bar. But it was a bit crowded with the cocktail tables also back there. The restrooms were very clean and I appreciated the complimentary lotion and huge mirror in the hallway. The sound wasn't too good for most of my event, but I'm not sure if that was due to the event organizers or the venue. My favorite thing about that Gathering Spot is the location. Since there isn't much nightlife in the area, parking was not a hassle. There was an abundance of street parking (that could also be due to the time of day) I will definitely recommend The Gathering Spot for events

This social club in DC was very cool to check out. They have a ton of work from home space on their first floor as well as level 4. Level 4 was completely empty when we visited which made it seem easier to work from home. The 4th level also has a chess and jenga set. There is a place to store your items as well. The social club comes with free breakfast. We were able to choose from 3 items each on the menu. We ended up getting pancakes, bacon, mixed fruits, chicken sausage, turkey bacon, grits, and a parfait. The mixed fruits were slightly disappointing. It tasted like it came from a dole fruit can. The pancake was spot on delicious. It was super fluffy and even without much syrup it still tasted delicious. The bacon was good as well. Our highlight was definitely the chicken sausage. Do not miss the chicken sausage! We complemented the chef on it because we never tasted such a beautiful dish before.

I've heard about the DC Gathering Spot location. I was able to visit during my work trip. Such a blessed place and good people. The owner is supper nice and staff is beyond kind. If you want to be around a great community of people I recommend going. The shrimp salad taste amazing too.

This week I've attended two events at the Gathering Spot DC, and I am pleasantly surprised. The space is primarily for business and networking but in the evenings it's open for private events. With a membership you get breakfast and refreshments throughout the day. The staff is amazing, friendly, and they go out of their way to ensure that members and guests are comfortable. It's the perfect solution for professionals to get out of the house, interact with other professionals, and to be productive. #AmazingEnergy #ProfessionalVibe #WorkSpace #MetroAccessible

Came here for a happy hour once. I'm not a member but my friend was. She hosted it and invited a few of our friends. Was good times. Drinks got us lit. I'd check it out again.

This review is mostly for the H Restaurant within the Gathering Spot; my friend and I toured only floors 1 and 2 and did not explore floor 3 on our visit. Highlights from our dinner: friendly service, elegant surroundings, and the best damn appetizer: the H Mac and Cheese has cheddar cheese and Old Bay crab lump and stretches so fine. I nearly took a video of that cheese stretching. Our entrées were both good. I had the Seared Chesapeake Crab Cake. The broccolini was seared just perfectly, with nice smoky flavors. I didn't think the flavors of the butternut squash paired perfectly with the entrée, but it was all plated beautifully. My friend got the Seared Chicken Breast and said nothing but good things about it. Skipping back to the Fall Salad appetizer, that one was a fail for me because of too many onions. Maybe I should have asked for a replacement, but I didn't think about doing that in the moment and treated that appetizer as an obstacle course in how to eat around the onions. The other salad components were delicious. Last but not least, the sorbet with mint and berries was refreshing. There was no decaf coffee available, so dessert wasn't perfect, but overall I will remember this meal very positively. Best of all, this dinner with DC Black Restaurant Week was such a deal! Only $35 per person for three courses (not including the happy hour Mac and Cheese.) Check out this participating restaurant and those other participating businesses if you can.

The Gathering Spot's mission is to be a space to bring people together and create community and collaboration. In total there's three floors: the ground floor has the event space, second floor is a restaurant, and the top floor is work space. You either have to apply for membership or come with an existing member to gain access to all its amenities. I came with an existing member to check out the space and eat at the restaurant. I like the concept and the space essentially has everything you need for the workday: there's a telephone room to take calls, a room for podcasts, group office spaces, individual office spaces, open seating, PO Boxes for rent, and if you ever get hungry you can go down to the restaurant--the H at the Gathering Spot--and grab a quick bite. This review is solely on the space in general (if I included the restaurant it would definitely bring my rating down so that is a separate review on the restaurant's Yelp page...). The Gathering Spot apparently hosts several events per month, I haven't been to one so I can't speak on the quality or frequency of the events. If you're an entrepreneur or if you work remotely full-time and would like to switch it up or have an office space where you can be productive, I think this is a great spot for that. Also if you're new to the area and like to work and mingle, this could be the place for you. I think they also offer free breakfast, which is a great perk.

The ambiance is wonderful and the food and drinks delicious! The servers aimed to please and went above and beyond. I really enjoyed a private party at The Gathering Spot!

I absolutely love the gathering spot. It's a beautiful co-working space that's great for networking. Their food/bar lounge area is comfortable with great drinks/dishes. The upstairs has plenty of seating and conference space for small (3-4) and large (8-10) groups. I've been using TGS since their first location in Atlanta but love the DC location just the same!

I am not a member, but was pretty excited to be invited for lunch by a friend. Overall I enjoyed the experience. The place is beautiful on the inside, the ambiance is perfect for the "work from home" scenario where you don't necessarily want to be at home. I had a water with a Caesar salad. It did take about 30 minutes for my salad to come out. So this didn't make it ideal for a lunch spot. Additionally when I was there the elevator wasn't working so we took the back way to get up and down in the building. The salad was good. Nothing too crazy about it good or bad. It was exactly what I was expecting. I would go back if I was invited again, but I would definitely allocate more time.

Such a cute co-working space! Was meeting one of the members and got to explore the area for a bit and I was pleasantly surprised! Nice smaller offices they can be reserved and an open working space with longer tables with everything you'd need to be productive. I read somewhere that they also have rooms for podcasts and on camera content creators which is very cool. The decor is done so fantastically!! Clean, Modern feel throughout. I never thought a membership previously...but had such an amazing time there a few weeks ago, it might be something I consider for 2022!

I recently ended my membership and this is my honest review. Please note, this has nothing to do with the recent drama they've experienced with changes in leadership and questions about their parent company's business choices. This is strictly my personal experience with the DC location. From what I observed, The Gathering Spot is a meeting and event space that caters to local companies who shut the club down on a regular basis for private events. Meanwhile, they are using the membership dues from their loyal member base to keep the lights on and fund day-to-day operations. The pros: -The space is aesthetically pleasing and very clean. -The music they play throughout the day is awesome. -I met a handful of cool people. The cons: -The H Restaurant has some of the worst service of any restaurant I've been to in DC. The staff is all over the place. Multiple times, I've been the only person at the bar and waited 20+ mins for a drink. Once, after taking my order, the bartender went and sat down on a sofa to chat with another guest; I never got my drink. Also, the rules around what the restaurant offers on which days (i.e. some days you can't order a la carte, etc) can be a little confusing and inconsistent. -The club is typically dead. I've never seen more than 12 people in the building during work hours and no more than 30 or so at the events I attended. -Don't come here looking for a "for us, by us" experience anymore. The gentrification began months ago and has fully taken hold now. On my last visit, the white and non-black POC guests were the majority in the space. -Rules and perks can change abruptly without warning. The parking situation went from valet to a partnership with a local garage to a partnership with Uber (which is only beneficial if you live near the club) without clear communication in advance or after the changes were made. -The events in DC pale in comparison to the events available in ATL and LA. DC honestly feels like an afterthought sometimes. The biggest issue for me was the price. Your $200 membership fee (for members 30+) really only gets you in the door for co-working/events and access to the Member Circle groups on Zoom. When parking is $20, the average cocktail is $12-$16, and lunch/dinner entrees are also DC-priced, you can easily spend $50+ per visit here. If you're coming in at least twice a week and driving, expect to spend over $500 a month here in total. Let me be clear: THERE IS NOTHING GOING ON IN THIS CLUB WORTH $500 A MONTH. If you're running a business that requires frequent use of meeting spaces and/or you are in business with other members who are using the space to collaborate, go for it. Any other circumstance, save your money and take advantage of other networking groups and events available to black professionals in the area that don't come with a monthly fee.

Vibes on vibes! This amazing space has great food, great Co-Working space and amazing musical vibes.

Some of the staff were great, the non corporate staff - the waiters, Rhonda who used to bartend. Those people are no longer there though. 4. I met my partner here. Cons 1. They cancel events, or have no show hosts, don't have the food you paid for, start events late, if the event even happens. The events in DC are a joke compared to the other cities. It's a thing to do on the way to doing what you really want to do. A pre-game with pre-made, watered down happy hour drinks. 2. Terrible wait times for food. The Get-it-yoself Spot! 3. Staff ignores emails, feedback or flat out lies about things. (Mitch, Renauda) 4. For a social club that has Black members, they sure don't act like it. They partner with and advertise with racist white artists such as John Mayer who have outspokenly said racists things about black women and who have made misogynist comments about women in general. A request to take the promotion of his event down due to the aforementioned leads to, being ignored, and his event still being promoted. My partner found TGS a waste of time for many of the same reasons but ultimately cancelled after my email about John Mayer went ignored. The final straw was this "by us, not for us" performative Black social club choosing dollars over respecting Black women. 5. Other performative actions - they held an event around abortion rights with zero action items. They held another event to talk about Britney Griner's release from prison, but did nothing while she was imprisoned. Welcome to The Gossip Spot. 6. My account was renewed almost a month before it was supposed to be, and I know of others who had the same issue. 7. No referral program. Or is there? Mentioned this and other issues to the founder who did nothing about any of the issues. Mentioned this to another member, and they said they had to stay on top of them about referrals, the program exists, but they won't easily give you anything even though their app states they have a referral program. The Gotcha Spot! 8. Every single person I've gotten to know at TGS canceled or is cancelling and is extremely frustrated with this place. Staff doesn't stick around long either. The Gawd-awful spot! Be weary of people posting that they are not members yet give high ratings. Their feelings are valid, but are typically based off a free event which is likely sponsored by a company outside of TGS. You're going to get a membership review from a paying member who attends more regularly. I'm a member who is not renewing. There's better Black owned businesses that you can support that aren't a smack in the face to their own people.
