The Gathering Table

We went here for a special dinner while visiting Solvang, and it was a really solid choice. The service was very friendly and attentive, and it was cute that they seat couples next to one another instead of across the table. We tried the scallion focaccia, duck, coconut panacotta, Thai tea bread pudding, hamachi, miso black cod, and zucchini. The only thing we didn't like as much was the squash, which tasted like straight curry powder. The chili that came with the scallion focaccia was very good. They have some interesting mocktails and cocktails. The restaurant is also really pretty in the evening, so it made for a lovely atmosphere.

This place is easily the best restaurant in Solvang. The Japanese French fusion is what makes it stand out. It’s a necessity since Solvang is comprised of many steakhouses and simple palettes. I was blown away by the vegetable dishes. The charred cabbage was definitely a stand out. I love how it incorporated the peanut sauce and almost was a play on a Thai flat wide noodle dish. The garlic noodles were top tier, so much so, we had to get two orders. The miso cod was cooked perfectly and such an easy choice. So glad we stopped by on a random night and were easily accommodated for a part of 5.

It was recommended by friends who visit Solvang frequently. We started off with a Lemon Drop Martini and a Welcome Back. Both cocktails were yummy and you could actually taste/feel the alcohol in them. Laura, our server was very sweet, funny, helpful from the first moment. She was a delight. We ordered the Cheese & Nuts plate, the Scallion Focaccia and the Japanese Cucumber Salad as appetizers. We split all 3. They were all very delicious. For entrées I had the Pan Fried Duck Breast and the Chanterelle Mushroom & Prosciutto Risotto Special. We asked if we could add chicken to the risotto and Laura said it was no problem. She (well, the chef) even gave us the choice of grilled or fried chicken, so we opted for Korean friend chicken. As a side, we also ordered the Roasted Takikawa Farm Carrots. They went perfectly with both dishes. I liked the mixed sweet and savory notes in that dish. The duck was perfectly cooked and the pan fried endives, the parsnip puree and the ginger-cranberry chutney just complemented the dish delectably. We had a bottle of Storm Pinot Noir with the entrées. A Pinot Noir was a perfect accompaniment to both dishes. We got so full, that we just couldn't have forced any desserts down, so we decided not to order any. At another table, former customers of mine from Marco's recognized me and came over and gave me hugs. As it turned out, they were regulars there and knew the manager. When Jasmine, the manager brought the bill, she told me that the guys told her how great I was and she comped two of our appetizers. We chatted with her a bit and I gave her my card, should she want to dine at Fleming's in LA. Anyhow, the entire evening was just lovely and we do want to come back to try other dishes.

I’ve been here a few times and it keeps getting better. I could eat this Indonesian fried rice every time. I added the fried chicken thigh to mine. Perfection on a plate! Also, there isn’t a prettier dining room in Solvang. Welcoming and warm.

Amazing place! Don’t go without reservation though.. I had ordered the duck.. loved the dish.. it’s Asian for fusion at its best! My family had Salmon and chicken wings.. both these dishes were great… highly recommended place to visit if you are in Solvang

Excellent fresh seafood! Raw uni opening on the shell. Black mussels in delicious soup. Uni and mussels are all from Santa Barbara, fresh indeed! After steaks and sausages for a few days, we need a change. Oh, we also had a hamachi appetizer with shitaki mushroom. Wonderful! Will come back again!

This restaurant is 🔥. From the food to the server, decor, chef and the host I didn't catch her name, but she was able to get us in last minute before closing during our second time we visit for dinner time. If you are wondering if to dine here look no more. The first night my husband and I arrived at beautiful Solvang we walked around and decided to give this restaurant a try. Adrian was our server he was very attentive and knew his stuff well, he noticed I was cold and offer me a blanket and turn on the tourch which was lovely since we dine in the outdoor area and it was getting a bit chilly. The food was absolutely delicious and we love traveling around the world and believe me The gathering table has made it to my top notch dinning place list. The lamb was cooked to perfection, my husband chicken and lamb was also 10/10. We tried a few other restaurant around Solvang & the santa barbara area and "kid you not," nothing came near the quality, and welcoming warmth The gathering table offer. It was nice also meeting the person with the magical hands that prepare each of our meal Chef Budi Kazali who came around to check how thing were tasting. To the gathering table I'll end this with saying keep up the excellent work and thanks for having us.

First time at this restaurant, it was highly recommended. Fabulous atmosphere outside dining preferred. We decided on all the Chef specials, which were amazing. And the service was good too. They even gave us a veterans discount.
