The George

I recently attended a conference at The George, and the experience was absolutely fantastic. The facilities were excellent—well-maintained, modern, and perfect for a professional event. The staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating, going above and beyond to make sure everything ran smoothly. From start to finish, the entire experience was wonderful. I’d highly recommend The George for conferences or any event!

A fantastic find! We only had one night here but could have stayed for a week. We stayed in the Loft room of the Homestead building. It was beautiful. Extremely Comfortable and well thought out. The staff made us feel very welcome and the little bear to take home was a nice surprise you don’t often see these days. It was a 10-15min easy walk to the city centre. Great hotel, Highly Recommended👌👌

Nice hotel, comfortable bed, convenient location near airport and city. Everything we needed was included and worked well. Parking and access was easy. The garden behind our room was a nice feature. Staff very friendly and helpful. Recommended.

Great hotel, location and staff. Proximity to Bonitanical Gardens was really nice for walking, food was great and parking on site was convenient. Loved the heated bathroom floors. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Really a pleasure to stay here before departing from airport, ~15 min drive away.

We loved our stay at the George! The hotel was beautiful and had all the amenities we could imagine. The service was impeccable- we particularly loved the thoughtful turn down touches. Breakfast was delicious - don’t skip! The hot meals were very unique with quite a mix of flavors. We’d love to come back!

We stayed at The George for the first night of our honeymoon, arriving after a 20+ hour travel day, and were immediately blown away by the generous hospitality, the gorgeous views, and the bespoke luxury touches. Matt and the rest of the staff were incredibly warm and helpful in offering us coffee/tea since we arrived before our room was ready, then went above and beyond to upgrade us to the most beautiful room overlooking the gardens & sending up some treats to kick off an amazing stay. Our favorite part was the heated floors in the bathrooms - I couldn’t get over how cool and cozy that was! The breakfast is top notch as well. We loved our stay so much and are already so excited to come back for another 2 nights at the very end of our honeymoon in a couple weeks! We’ll look forward to trying the dinner at 50 Bistro.

The George restaurant truly deserves five stars! As vegans who avoid garlic and onions, we are always impressed by how their chefs go above and beyond to create delicious and beautifully presented dishes that meet our dietary preferences. It’s clear that their team puts a lot of thought and care into everything they do. The service staff are equally wonderful —attentive, warm, and thoughtful, making every visit feel special. Whenever we are in Christchurch, The George is always a must-visit for us, and we find ourselves coming back multiple times during our stay. Highly recommended!

We had booked for one night here and would happily have stayed for many more. A spacious, wonderfully equipped room and the nicest staff on the planet. Thoughtful touches throughout, from fresh apples on each floor to the laundry facilities. They also came in to give us fresh water, teddies and chocolate, we were offered complimentary drinks when we were waiting for our room even though we had arrived several hours early (international flight). They got our room ready within 30 minutes and with such good spirit.
