London Restaurant Recommendations for the Weekend | Eater London

"A cosy Clapham South Georgian café-restaurant serving rich regional dishes in communal style: supra feasts with hot and cold plates, pkhali vegetable pastes, bardrijani aubergine rolls with walnut stuffing, borscht, khachapuri Tbilisi-style and khinkali soup dumplings, all best shared with pickles and ajika." - James Hansen

I really like the look of inside: reminds of some old pub or restaurant, antique furniture, lots of woods, old bricks, almost like a small inn;very good vibes, even I've been waiting for my TGTG bag. Pretty good cakes: cheesecake was very good but I don't see a need for pistachio cream on top. On the other side it creates interesting aftertaste. Apple crumble reminds of polish version, quite similar, but this is more delicate, with less intensive taste. I'm quite interested to visit this place again and give the a proper go.

We came here for the first time and absolutely loved it. It's a beautiful and cosy atmosphere and the food was delicious. We would especially recommend the badrijani, khachapuri and ostri, perfect for those autumnal nights we're heading into. The staff was especially friendly and charming. We'll definitely be back!

Amazing little restaurant. Some of the delicious food I’ve had in London. Super authentic Georgian food. The specials are always amazing. And a lovely relaxed atmosphere. 100% recommend for an unusual dinner out. The mezze platter for 2/4 is just fantastic.

Google
Very nice café and restaurant just outside Clapham South Station. Extremely well decorated and nice atmosphere with attentive staff. The food was incredible and I felt I had a genuine meal. I have seen the woman chefs on the two occasions I have been there (just for coffee and cake once and for the full dinner experience the second time) and it felt as a family run business with authentic food as per Georgian culinary traditions. All the dishes we tried were delicious but I personally loved the typical Georgian dumplings, to die for. Highly recommended! :)

Google
I seek out Georgian food anytime I have the opportunity, so I have to visit this place whenever I'm in London. It is definitely one of the best Georgian restaurants I have ever been to (and I've been to a lot - in Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Greece, and the US). The food is absolutely divine, the restaurant atmosphere is cozy, and the service is great as well. Highly recommend the vegetarian stew - Ajabsandali. You won't be disappointed!

Google
We were looking for a Georgian restaurant and found this place 9 mins from us. The restaurant is run by a Georgian family. The mom is the cook. We ordered aubergine with walnut paste, Khachapuri and Khinkali. All arrived fresh and exceptionally tasty. I would recommend this place anytime.

Google
Absolutely lovely! Delicious home cooked menu… had an aubergine dish with roasted veggies and cheese, and my uncle had some homemade —to order — meat dumplings. Staff very kind and has a lovely atmosphere, fresh flowers, and music. Felt like a proper family run restaurant serving home cooked food.

I had a fantastic lunch - food was fresh and prepared with care. Our waiter ensured my allergies (numerous) were accounted for so I could eat with peace of mind. Georgian food is underrated, this place is a great place to try it for the first time!

Yelp
The Georgian is a wonderful place to have a filling and delicious Traditional English Breakfast, and I would assume all the other dishes are just as spectacular. The restaurant is beautiful with vintage tea pots, cups, and dishes as well as gorgeous brick and wood walls. The service is incredible, we were served by Elene and she is the sweetest person who ensures you have a positive experience. Overall The Georgian is a wonderful place to eat amazing food, have fresh juice and tea, and experience wonderful service!

Yelp
Food is tasty and authentically Georgian, but some quintessential items are difficult to come by in this country ( like Georgian tarragon lemonade, since you ask). High points include the khinkhali- delicious soupy filled dumpling- and the khachapuri, a particularly delicious trope of cheese-filled bread. Service is painfully slow, however, and overall it's quite expensive for what it is.

Yelp
The Georgian can be found just across from Clapham South tube, and as the name suggests, they dish up traditional Georgian Fare. Friendly staff and a super selection of cakes makes this a great place to stop for a coffee or snack. However they've also recently started doing breakfasts, and the wide variety of Georgian takes on this often ordinary meal was enough to tempt me in. I order the 'Mamalo' perhaps a Georgian version of Eggs Benedict; just swap the muffin for organic rye bread, and the hollandaise for plum sauce. As I don't eat bacon, I was happy to see a Salmon version also available, and before I knew it my breakfast had arrived. Beautifully presented, my two poached eggs were drizzled with plum sauce atop a bed of salmon on rye bread. The final touch was a side serving of cool carrot coleslaw which acted as the perfect 'antidote' to the unexpectedly 'spicy' plum sauce. Super!

Yelp
Not so impressed by their service when I went to get a coffee to go. £2 for the coffee and they refused my £20 note and insisted I pay by card which charges 50p for transactions less than £10. Coffee is good but do they really expect to compete with Costa with service like that?!

Yelp
I'm from the states and this is the first time I've had porridge. Nothing to compare it to but I could eat here every day! I've also had pancakes (which I learned are scones) and they are amazing. Eggs Benedict was good although I got salmon when I ordered ham. No big deal since I like both. Service was excellent too when it was empty and packed.

Yelp
Had a leisurely brunch here with a mix of western and Georgian items. We had pancakes, scrambled eggs on toast, a vegetarian plate, borscht, pelmeni dumplings and the famous cheese bread. The portions are awesome and the service was friendly, if not a bit slow. While the borscht was a bit of a letdown with a watery quality, the pelmeni were juicy and came in a cute clay pot. The cheese bread was also awesome hangover food, and makes a good dish to order for the table to share. I'd probably go back if I was in the neighborhood but don't think it's worth a trek out to Clapham on its own. By the way, it's not BYOB anymore - £5 corkage fee.

Yelp
The cheese bread, when delivered fresh from the oven, might be one of the best foods I have ever tasted. EVER. And as I've eaten around the world, that says a lot. The ricotta is salty and dense and the bread the perfect level of chewiness. I think at 8 quid, it's a bit expensive for a large piece, but it's so worth it. The aubergine rolled with walnut pate is also lovely. The pate has a hint of spice you wouldn't expect. I also got a dense dried fruit and nut pastry. It was a bit too dry in texture but the fruit's sweetness was nicely subtle.T The setting is adorable- like a family's dining room table with pale wood furniture, multicoloured place settings and napkins, and curios about. The woman behind the counter was friendly. I just wish I lived closer!

Yelp
Charming interior, attentive host/waitress, interesting and usual selections, and food was presented nicely. The restaurant was pretty cold even after the waitress said the front door could be closed. Would I go back? Maybe. Our party of three found the Georgian on Yelp! We started with caramel buns, round cakes with a caramel icing between the two sides. It was nice and good for dipping in our teas. We also had the Full English Breakfast, the veg. version, and Khachoiani (thin and eggy pancakes/ricotta cheese blintzes). The English breakfasts were warm, not hot, tasted okay and presented nicely. The Khachoiani didn't come out until we almost finished our breakfasts, which stunk to have that happen to our daughter. Unless you really, really dig tart/sour food, it wasn't worth the wait as the cold and very sour-tasting ricotta(I think it was also mixed or mostly Greek yogurt) made the pancake/crepe cold and the fruit was sour apple, tart strawberry and maybe another tart berry with a large dollop of the ricotta mix. Regrettable order and very poor timing, but otherwise okay.

Yelp
This is one of my new favorite breakfast spots. I had passed this place many times and was always quite intrigued since I have never tried Georgian food before. They also have a sign out front stating that they serve breakfast all day, which is always a good thing to take note of. Finally being in the area with some time to kill recently, I decided to stop in for breakfast. The interior has pleasant atmosphere and the staff was quite welcoming. The menu has standard breakfast dishes as well as Georgian dishes. I got a standard breakfast dish and coffee and can say that it was all quite good. Next time I go back I will be a little more adventurous with the Georgian dishes. I highly recommend this place if you are in the neighborhood and looking for a breakfast spot. They also have such options, but I didn't really check out that part of the menu. I guess that's what return visits are for!

Yelp
Like Rob I stumbled across The Georgian while looking for a late coffee at 9pm to fill in time before my boyfriend got back from work. Costa was closed. I'd never gone past Nicolas but thought I might find somewhere. WOW. What a somewhere to find! This is the most beautiful coffee shop I've seen in ages; I loved the mismatched chairs and tables (sounds very over and familiar, but seems fresh and lovely here). There are shelves filled with colourful china and pictures, and a really pretty fruit stand, plus the usual suspects of cakes in glass covers. I had the most enormous black americano for £2.50 (very good) and if I hadn't had a box full of food ready for supper, I would gladly have persuaded the chap to stay for something to eat. Really enchanting and definitely worth visiting if you're in the area. Needless to say, will not be bothering with Costa again anytime soon.

Yelp
The service is very slow. Our order was forgotten to get to the kitchen, so in total we waited for 40 minutes under the hot sun. Would never eat here again.

Yelp
The service was wonderful. I had the chicken tomato stew with mashed potatoes. I've never had Georgian food before but for my first try this was very tasty!

Yelp
Adorable little cafe featuring traditional Georgian fare, and (in my case) traditional English breakfast. A very cosy space, the food was good, and the pastries looked lovely (though I didn't get to try them). I enjoyed my meal here and thought the prices were reasonable.

Yelp
Very small Georgian cafe (Eastern Europe not time) I had the Georgian breakfast. Now the Georgian things were excellent. The beans and aubergine thing. The bacon, sausage were okay. The scrambled eggs were it seemed to me microwaved and the coffee needed work...tasted like filter coffee as opposed to fresher ground coffee. Now it could have been an off day because certainly it's a lovely little place and the staff are nice. Very close to four stars, but just not quite there...would come again for the strictly Georgian food.

Yelp
Clapham South has been crying out for a decent cafe for the past few months (Costa doesn't cut it as a local cafe in my book) and with the arrival of The Georgian Cafe we finally have a great one. The Cafe has a lovely laid back feel, and there are lots of nice touches - the coffee cups are quite something. My knowledge of Georgian cuisine is limited to say the least, but I very much enjoyed the pelmenis with ajika. I will certainly be going back.

Yelp
Stumbled across this when looking for a (turns out, closed) cafe nearby. What a find. *Best*carrot cake in London & delicious authentic Georgian brekkie & lunches (ace coffee too). Will be returning.

Yelp
A great addition to the local scene, their twist on a full cooked breakfast is brilliant!

Yelp
It's a lovely place, but really too expensive so I can't go there very often, which is a shame as I work near. I think they should review all the prices, and especially that for the English breakfast.
