Ginger Fox

"Look out for the thatched fox running across the roof of this long-standing pub, then head under the fruiting vine into a lovely garden where you’ll discover hidden bee hives. Menus mix refined, delicate dishes with those of a more hearty nature – the vegetarian tasting plate is a hit and the playful desserts are a must. There’s plenty of choice when it comes to local Sussex wines too – and they even offer wine flights." - Michelin Inspector

We stumbled upon this dog friendly pub whilst driving back to London from Brighton. We had a great Sunday roast, we both ordered the beef £23 which is pretty reasonable. I loved how many different varieties of vegetables came with the beef. The highlight of the meal was the chocolate brownie with honeycombs, candied pistachios and raspberry ripple ice cream. It was the best dessert I’ve ever had and totally unexpected. Thank you for a wonderful dining experience!

Havent been here for a looong time, and spontaneously decided to have a mid week late lunch here. The food was amazing. Really pretty portions (feed camera before face! 🤣📷), really well sized, and aside from the fillet steak option all really well priced. Service was really lovely, with conversation, chat and smiles. Food came quick, noting pie had an advised 20min delay because... wait for it... it was heated in an oven (not a microwave!!!!). Can't wait to go back and try another meal!! Thank you GingerFox team!

Amazing food. Haven't had a dinner that tasty in ages!! I do recommend 100%!! Could just do with a tiny bit more cosy decor though. The outside is nicer than inside. We had the chicken croquette starter so crispy, flavoursome and tasty; The salmon with asparagus and hollandaise sauce starter very smooth; The ratatouille terrine with creamy goats cheese mousse oh so light with its wonderfully crispy goatcheese cumbs; The Guinea fowl with wild mushroom sauce was to die for; Not getting me started on the triple cookde duck fat chips. Yum! And oh my God.. the warm fondant brownie with the pistachio nuts popcorn cluster is sin on its own! Oh and the orange wine very delicious.

Great service and lovely food, very well looked after throughout! (Old Fashioned cocktail was the only negative)

We had the best experience at The Ginger Fox – what a beautiful countryside pub! The veggie options were absolutely amazing. We tried the risotto and the vegetarian tasting menu, and both were bursting with flavor and creativity. It’s clear the chefs put real thought into making the dishes exciting, not just an afterthought for vegetarians. The outdoor vibe was just adorable – really cozy and inviting, with a lovely garden setup and that signature thatched roof that gives it a quirky, charming feel. Perfect for a sunny afternoon or a relaxed evening meal. Everything from the service to the setting felt relaxed yet special. Highly recommend if you’re near Brighton and looking for great food in a gorgeous countryside spot!

Outstanding food.  The staff are cosy + welcoming, creating a home from home atmosphere. The chefs are talented. I haven't tasted real, freshly prepared flavours like this since leaving London. SEA BASS on fennel + broccoli stems in delicious cream sauce with crispy noodles.👌 HONEY CHEESECAKE with honeycomb + ice sorbet  - oh my goodness  🙈 so delicious. Coffee 5 star. This absolute treat was worth every penny. Beautiful garden + friendly, sociable, smiling customers also add to the enjoyment here. Like attracts like. Families, young couples, solo diners and groups - all at home. Thank you Donal + the team, very much. (The cuisine here was recommended to me by the chefs at a nearby venue)

So after going to the Ginger man we wanted to try here and it certainly does not disappoint at all. The setting and atmosphere is amazing and the food most certainly lives up to the hype. The staff were amazing and friendly and attentive so value for money and setting it’s a must try. You most certainly won’t be disappointed.

From the moment of our arrival we were made to feel welcome. All staff were friendly, polite and attentive! As a starter we both had soup, spinach, pea and fennel soup with some crispy anchovies, so tasty !!😋 For our main meal we had roasted pork belly and crackling, served with roast potatoes a selection of vegetables, and apple sauce! cooked beautifully! Say nothing about the delicious desserts 🧁

Yelp
The Ginger Fox is the third of the Gingerman establishments and in my opinion the best by far. Its located not far from Brighton in a beautiful old thatch roofed pub. The food is out of this world as you can expect from any of the Ginger places but when enjoyed in surroundings like this, it really is hard to beat. I took my wife there for dinner recently and ate probably the best steak in my life - ribeye with dripping chips. I'd expect to pay a lot more for food this good.

Yelp
Had Sunday roast here yesterday. Not worth the £15 charged. One slice of beef, cold old burnt yourshire pudding and some veg with a tiny amount of gravy. You'd think at these prices they would at least make fresh yourshire puds. James must have got lucky or I must have been unlucky, either way, it's not worth more than they charge. The Gingerman in Norfolk Sqare is outstanding, no complaints there, Gingerman at Drakes is a little more expensive and not as good quality, Ginger Pig isn't bad but they use a microwave for some dishes, I've yet to try the newest establishment 'The Ginger Dog'

Yelp
The menu is seasonal and changes quite a bit. Portions are neither too small nor too large. Generally puddings are not quite up to the high standard of the main courses. They usually have at least a couple of decent ales and these and many of the ingredients are sourced locally.

Yelp
Best food and service I have had in Sussex, and cheaper than the chains in Brighton. Way to go. Will be back.

Yelp
Love love love this place. The food is delicious. I especially like the warm, soft bread they bring out on arrival and the yummy local appel juice!!!
