"Situated on the edge of the woods, this long-standing thatched pub is full of character and you can't help but be carried away by the team's cheerful energy. It's run by the Gingerman Group, primarily based in Brighton, with this acting as their country outpost hidden away in the South Downs. Pubby favourites like Welsh rarebit or prawns with Marie Rose sauce are all present and correct, as are dishes with a little more flair; whatever you choose, the kitchen will lavish the same care upon it. The wine list includes some locally grown options." - Michelin Inspector

We came for Sunday lunch and it was a beautiful day, so we sat outside. The seating area is very pretty and had a lovely view of the thatched building! The food was delicious! One of the best roast dinners we have had in fact! Very generous portions, everything well cooked and so many things on the plate- red cabbage under the beef was the best surprise!! The drinks, starters and desserts were also all delicious but the service was the highlight! It was so busy, within an hour every table was full but the staff were fabulous! So efficient and attentive, nothing too much trouble and they were super friendly and knowledgeable. Will definitely be back!

We stumbled upon this dog friendly pub whilst driving back to London from Brighton. We had a great Sunday roast, we both ordered the beef £23 which is pretty reasonable. I loved how many different varieties of vegetables came with the beef. The highlight of the meal was the chocolate brownie with honeycombs, candied pistachios and raspberry ripple ice cream. It was the best dessert I’ve ever had and totally unexpected. Thank you for a wonderful dining experience!

We came here for dinner as we're staying locally in Henfield (dog sitting for our children) We were slightly early but this didn't phase the staff who were all polite, friendly, and helpful. The food was excellent. I had Curried Cod scotch egg(I could eat this dish many times over, and was the stand out dish for me), followed by Rib eye steak, which was the best steak I've had dining out in a long time, including one at the Lygon Arms, sorry Mr Martin. Only thing that was only ok were the duck fat chips, cooked one too many times for taste. Chris had the vegetarian risotto, followed by Apple crumble and they both excellent. we will definitely come back

Amazing food. Haven't had a dinner that tasty in ages!! I do recommend 100%!! Could just do with a tiny bit more cosy decor though. The outside is nicer than inside. We had the chicken croquette starter so crispy, flavoursome and tasty; The salmon with asparagus and hollandaise sauce starter very smooth; The ratatouille terrine with creamy goats cheese mousse oh so light with its wonderfully crispy goatcheese cumbs; The Guinea fowl with wild mushroom sauce was to die for; Not getting me started on the triple cookde duck fat chips. Yum! And oh my God.. the warm fondant brownie with the pistachio nuts popcorn cluster is sin on its own! Oh and the orange wine very delicious.

Absolute rip off pub. Website prices are misleading, true prices are 20/30% higher when you get there. £7.50 for a pint?! On the edge of a busy road so quite noisy but out of their control. Pretty garden and decor. Two slithers of lamb for the price failed to represent any value.

We had a birthday roast at The Ginger Fox for my husband last Sunday and I just wanted to say how much we loved everything about our visit. The food was exceptional and the staff were blooming ace - especially the person who looked after us with the cool fringe and wicked sense of humour. Sorry we didn’t get your name but you completely made our afternoon and the DF chocolate tart was a huuuuuuge hit. Thanks for bringing the fun and the most gorgeous food. We loved it ❤️

Havent been here for a looong time, and spontaneously decided to have a mid week late lunch here. The food was amazing. Really pretty portions (feed camera before face! 🤣📷), really well sized, and aside from the fillet steak option all really well priced. Service was really lovely, with conversation, chat and smiles. Food came quick, noting pie had an advised 20min delay because... wait for it... it was heated in an oven (not a microwave!!!!). Can't wait to go back and try another meal!! Thank you GingerFox team!

Great service and lovely food, very well looked after throughout! (Old Fashioned cocktail was the only negative)

Yelp
The Ginger Fox is the third of the Gingerman establishments and in my opinion the best by far. Its located not far from Brighton in a beautiful old thatch roofed pub. The food is out of this world as you can expect from any of the Ginger places but when enjoyed in surroundings like this, it really is hard to beat. I took my wife there for dinner recently and ate probably the best steak in my life - ribeye with dripping chips. I'd expect to pay a lot more for food this good.

Yelp
Had Sunday roast here yesterday. Not worth the £15 charged. One slice of beef, cold old burnt yourshire pudding and some veg with a tiny amount of gravy. You'd think at these prices they would at least make fresh yourshire puds. James must have got lucky or I must have been unlucky, either way, it's not worth more than they charge. The Gingerman in Norfolk Sqare is outstanding, no complaints there, Gingerman at Drakes is a little more expensive and not as good quality, Ginger Pig isn't bad but they use a microwave for some dishes, I've yet to try the newest establishment 'The Ginger Dog'

Yelp
The menu is seasonal and changes quite a bit. Portions are neither too small nor too large. Generally puddings are not quite up to the high standard of the main courses. They usually have at least a couple of decent ales and these and many of the ingredients are sourced locally.

Yelp
Best food and service I have had in Sussex, and cheaper than the chains in Brighton. Way to go. Will be back.

Yelp
Love love love this place. The food is delicious. I especially like the warm, soft bread they bring out on arrival and the yummy local appel juice!!!
