I've never been to a drive-in theater, but I've driven by them before and seen them in movies so I had a little bit of an expectation. What I've seen in the past is not what this was. My boyfriend and I went to see a double feature. We drove out and it was a big empty parking lot where someone has put up an inflatable screen and decided to call it a drive-in theater. Considering that we paid $10 per car and then $5 per occupant I would already say that we overpaid and it was a bit of a letdown. When we made our way to the ticket taker she was very nice and provided instructions on drive-in etiquette, what channel to turn our radio to, where the port-o-potties were (not excited about that) and where the concession stand was (it was a tiny tent). We received instructions to line up behind the other cars so we could be parked. A young man guided us to a spot and we settled in to watch the first movie.
The movie- The screen was clear and the sound was okay. I could hear a whirling sound the whole time. I believe it must have been coming from whatever device was being used to play the movie.
The restrooms- The port-o-potties were smelly and due to be changed. There was hand sanitizer in one, but not the other. Also it was a very long walk to get to them. I supposed the distance helps so you don't have to smell them from your vehicle.
The concessions- There was a hand-washing station behind it which was nice. It was most likely for the person working concessions, but I used it after my restroom trip. The funny thing about that is that the employee watched me the whole time. I was waiting for him to tell me I couldn't use it. That never happened, but it was the impression I got. I ordered a bag of popcorn and for $2 it was tiny! The one positive here is that they do allow you to bring in your own food and beverages so you could get away with not making a trip to the concession stand.
Service- This is where I had my biggest issue. The initial ticket taker was nice. The concession stand guy was okay, although strange to stare me down when I washed my hands. I ended up having an unpleasant experience with the parking attendant. When I parked for the first show everything was fine. When it was over he came to my car and told me I could move and have an opportunity for a better spot. I was fine where I was, but moved the car upon his institutions. He said, "Move between the two cars in front." Well there was no between at that time so I just parked behind a car that was in the middle of two other cars. He seemed exasperated by this. Well shortly thereafter the car in front of me left so I though this must have been where he wanted me to go when he said move between the two cars. Well a moment after I moved there was a flashlight at the window. When I rolled down the window the parking attendant asked in a very sarcastic tone, "Who told you to move?" I explained that I was following his original institutions and he responded in a very rude way that my car was a hatchback and now the people behind me may not be able to see. He then explained that he needed to go talk to the cars behind me to make sure they could see and that he might be back to make me move. Mind you, there was no car parked directly behind me. He didn't come back so I assumed that was fine, but that was not a great experience. He really needs to work on his customer service skills. That interaction further ruined the experience for me so I can say for sure that I will not be back and I will be sure to share my experience with others.
