"This historic pub – whose name references its origins – is well known as a favourite haunt of legendary Scottish poet, Robert Burns, and with over 300 whiskies available in the snug in which he held court, a drink here is a must. The vintage-style restaurant, with its Tam o’Shanter mural, is an atmospheric place to dine. The menu puts Scottish produce to the fore, and dishes are creative, modern, and full of colour and flavour." - Michelin Inspector

One of a kind culinary experience in Robert Burn's favourite howff originally opened in 1610. We ordered two dishes and a few drinks and were surprised with a complementary amuse-bouche and a sweet at the end. The flavour and presentation of each dish were phenomenal. Their ingredients are sourced from local produce, which makes the meal more special. Furthermore, the staff were attentive, and the pacing of the meal was perfect. We were also shown a glimpse of Robert Burn's bedroom as a nice end to the evening. Already planning our next visit :)

Our lunch was very memorable. Amazing flavours and textures, artfully designed menu and a talented team executing the experience. Fine food and drink without the portentousness. A great surprise down an ally.

I had a fantastic dining experience at The Globe Inn on a rainy Wednesday night. Everything was delicious and the restaurant is a cool setting. I had the 7 course tasting menu. The highlight dishes for me were the Crab, Hake and Galloway Beef. Thanks for making it a memorable experience!

Well worth a visit if you like your fine dining. The food is exquisite, and accommodating to those with allergens. The staff are very informative explaining the fine details of food, which adds to the appreciation of the dishes. A beautiful experience, and one I would recommend.

We’ve been to this restaurant many times and it had been my parent in law’s favourite restaurant in Dumfries. We always came here to celebrate some special day or other. However today we had a pretty disappointing experience. The food was delicious as it had always been; however, the service was disappointing. We asked for our bill and waited for 40 minutes before having to ask again. After finally getting the bill and another long wait we had to go to the counter to pay. The chocolate that would normally accompany the bill arrived as we were leaving the restaurant. Upon leaving we mentioned the long wait to the staff when they asked us if everything was okay, however they didn’t really respond or acknowledge our wait. The food was excellent, but an important aspect of fine dining is the service and experience, which is reflected in the high cost. Sadly this was lacking on this visit.

A lovely historical pub with a fantastic menu. We enjoyed every course and appreciated the little extras from the chef. The fish dishes were especially delicious, as were the cocktails. Try ‘the bee man’!

Changed a fair bit since I was last here, popped in for a drink to find it's become a rather lovely restaurant. Food and service of the highest quality. The staff were absolutely brilliant and very welcoming. I'll be returning when I'm back in the area.
