This location on 295 in East Chatham has had some ups and downs. It was for a long time a small restaurant/diner style place that the locals knew. It changed hands a couple of times in recent years, and after some time closed, has just returned with new ownership as The Gnome Bistro.
The name and the sign out front alone make you have to stop.
Turns out the food is pretty good as well. This place has a breakfast menu and a lunch dinner menu.
Breakfast menu features pancakes, as well as your expected eggs/home fries/toast standard plates. They make shredded potato style hash brown/home fries that are a step up from standard.
The serve chicken wings that you can get with cloudberry sauce, which is a bitter little berry known to Scandinavian's quite well. It seems they are really taking off with the gnome theme and putting it into the menu. Of course you can get your standard buffalo wing sauce and a few others as well.
Menu also has a Reuben, fish and chips, prime rib, pasta dish, build your own burger, and salad choices. Nice selection of local Chatham brewery beers on tap.
Even though this is a new restaurant, the crew seems tight, and the place is running pretty well, at least from a patron's viewpoint. to top it off, you can buy a T-shirt, hoodie, or flannel with their logo. Also, there are tons of gnomes all over the place.
