Google
I was in Dallas for training. Googled for a blues bar and zeroed in on The Goat. It was 30 mins drive from my hotel at DFW South but I made the best decision to go. Great atmosphere, friendly people, awesome bar staff, blues jam night. Will surely go again if I’m ever in Dallas again!

Beka S.

Google
Cute lol hope in the wall fun place. Bartender was attentive and kind. Music was great, alot of different artists played tonight. I didn't eat there, drinks were good.

Google
Came here for a beer while waiting for my hair appointment. Super solid dive bar. Can tell this place would be a great time at night. I also think they’re one of the only ones open early! A coors light was $3.50, so not too shabby.

Shaun L.

Google
This place has some cool vibes and nice people but the brunch and cocktails were a let down. The pictures look so good but the food was lacking seasoning and cocktails were sickly sweet. I got the 'cool as a cucumber' and felt nauseous from how sweet it was. The server gave us some 1/2 coupons for next time because I didn't finish my meal or drink, which was nice but I don't think I'll visit again. Also the dress code isn't that serious, lots of casual outfits here.

Jason O.

Google
Just stopped in for drinks and karaoke. Mandolin the bartender was excellent. She made the drinks perfect. Karaoke didn't start on time I think maybe technical difficulties. I will try again another time.

Troy S.

Google
Great spot with an amazing atmosphere! I come here every Sunday for karaoke, it’s always a good time. Drinks are affordable, and it’s the perfect place to relax, chat, and share conversations with friendly strangers.

Robyn M.

Google
Love the atmosphere. Kat and Maddy are great. Opens early at 7am with no judgement. $1 domestic beer for every Dallas Cowboys touchdown!!!

Josh O.

Yelp
Can't say I'm too wild about this place. Took forever to get service and my card was over charged. Maybe third time's a charm? I .ight wait another few years like I did for this second visit.

A L.

Yelp
Not sure what is going on here but....not the same. The drinks have become weak, the "entertainment" is SO LOUD you can't talk to the person next to you, and it's always HOTTTT.

John S.

Yelp
I love this place, the music is awesome and I come here quite frequently. All of the bartenders are friendly except one of them. Leslie, one of the bartenders like to takes shots in the restroom and gets all weird towards the customers (I know this because a journalist from Lakewood that's also a regular at the Goat sees her do it all the time). She's supposedly a manager but I've seen her talk to people out of line (like a bully), escalate situations for no reason and just act crazy sometimes. Please look into this because I've never experienced such horrible service in my life and it's only from her. The Goat is my favorite bar to go to and I won't stop coming here but if she's there I'm leaving. If you would like more detail on the matter my email is - johnofalltradessimmons@gmail.com , John Simmons

Yelp
I've been wanting to go to a Texas blues bar for a while now and The Goat was recommended to me by the Internets. When I first looked at it, I didn't think anything of it. But once I did some light research on the bar, I was shocked to find two very extreme opinions about it. It was either the shadiest, scariest bikers only bar that hates everyone with rude service or "it's a diverse and a fun place!" So in my head I was either going to get stabbed or have a great time. But since I was going with my boyfriend who likes to think he has a quadruple black belt and my cocky self who has walked alone at night on the streets of downtown Chicago and D.C, we decided to go. For the sake of music. Perhaps we came on a night where all of the members of Sons of Anarchy were at home watching K-dramas, but what experienced was a normal dive bar. For starters, the music didn't even start until 10pm so we got there at 9 to scope the place out. By the time the music started, the place was packed! And yes, I was very surprised at the diversity. My first review of this place was taken down by Yelp for some reason but to put it shortly, there were people that looked like me, you and your neighbors. Ages ranged from 20s to 60s, all enjoying each other's company, rocking out to the music and cheap drinks. If anything, I felt like if I were being harassed at all, the group of college students sipping on Truly's next to me would have stepped in, shielded me and lectured my harasser about their actions as well as his or her carbon footprint. I've been to shadier Aldi's. The two pretty female servers were no nonsense but definitely not rude in the least bit. One of them was telling us how much she loves Cadbury chocolate eggs as she was munching on one between drink orders. So scary. This isn't to downplay those who did have bad experiences, only to share my own. Parking lot is small so get here early.

Yelp
I went there tonight with my service dog Zeke, and the bar manager was extremely rude to us and denied us service because of my disability and his kind disposition. I would not recommend this place to anyone who likes dogs and wants them to be treated with kindness.

Dylan H.

Yelp
I walked into a full bar tonight with about 12 other people still getting drinks. Sat down at the bar and the bartender told us they were closed... website clearly says 2 and it was 1:15. I have been to this location multiple times and always had a great experience until tonight. I have also met the manager here and thought she was wonderful. The way we were treated was absolutely disrespectful and I do not believe laziness is a reason to turn away paying customers.

Sara G.

Yelp
It's been a few months, so we tried to come back today. Service was still awful. We were there for half an hour before we gave up. We didn't even get a greeting. Someone else bought us a drink, and we left. We won't be back. After witnessing this, the people who bought us a drink also said they wouldn't be back and they left right behind us.

MatchaDancing A.

Yelp
If you can go when it's just the male bartender (Zeus?) you'll have great service. Perfect, even. Friendly, always ready to take your order even when it's busy. Doesn't tolerate men who won't leave women alone. Great, and the only reason I didn't give this place one star. Leslie, the manager, has been a problem from day one. She refused to serve my friend because he was Hispanic, and she assumed he didn't have any money (he was actually trying to celebrate a bonus at work and had planned to spend a lot). She flirted with my bf and gave him free drinks, and only paid attention to me when my bf ordered for me. Once he made it clear he wouldn't sleep with her, suddenly the service stopped. We could order one drink after a big wait, but never another round. We came back once a month because the karaoke is fire, but then she would treat us so poorly we would stop coming again. Tonight was the last straw, and we won't be returning. Not only did she refuse to serve us, she refused to let someone else buy us a round! When asked why, she told A COMPLETE STRANGER that she didn't think we tipped enough!! Evidently she had no idea we prefer to drop cash into the tip jar, but that's still no one's business. Maybe if she stopped trying to pass herself off as Amy Lee (maybe the Wish version) and actually treated customers decently, she wouldn't be losing business. Considering the insults we've heard her sling at customers for no reason, I don't expect The Goat to be around much longer as many customers have stated they wouldn't be back. They even recently lost a celebrity due to her poor service. Goodbye, The Goat. We wish the male Bartender much luck.

Yelp
Good Dive Bar. Friendly bartenders and locals. Live music was good especially with no cover. Pizza place next door.

Bonnie T.

Yelp
Visiting from Wisconsin, and we were looking for some good blues music. Saw that a blues band was playing at The Goat. Tutu Jones and the Twisted Soul Band got down, got funky. Had a great time. Loved the diverse crowd.
google avatar

Monica R.

Yelp
This place is horrible! My friends & I couldn't leave fast enough! I consider myself a dive bar kind of gal, but this place is scary! The the interior needs major work & the clientele was sketchy.

Allison B.

Yelp
The Brunette server was so rude. Never will return. Got mad we added a drink to our order and bad mouthed me and my friends. Only liked to serve the regulars.

Kevin G.

Yelp
I love this bar it is really chill and nice the area is also really nice and I would totally recommend it for anyone in the area!!!!!
google avatar

Greg R.

Yelp
A small, one room bar with no frills... ...but the people are super friendly, the staff attentive, the drinks strong, and the owner is a swell guy. And that is what makes this place a favorite among locals and of mine. The Goat has been around for a long time. It had it share of regulars who are always welcoming to new faces. If Dallas has its own version of the old sitcom, "Cheers", The Goat would be it. So sit down, have a drink, and chat up the regulars. You'll always find good convo and strong drinks here. Cheers!

Ida A.

Yelp
terrible customer service. We are new to the neighborhood, we are from Miami. We went to have a couple of beers and the manager kicked us out of the place for no reason. she said we brought beer outside the place but we were actually consuming it. During the discussion, when she took us out of the place, she used racist comments because we were Hispanic. I am Cuban, I have been in this country for years and this is the first time something like this has happened. If you are Hispanic, I advise you not to go to this place, they are extremely racist.

Yelp
I would say this is a dive bar to the T. I had an absolute great time! Played pool, had some drinks and a great time. I highly recommend if you're into the dive bar scene.

Yelp
Ok so last week we were in Memphis and loved walking on Beale street and enjoying the Blues. This week this spot here gives me that Memphis feeling and the band is off the chain. If you want that Memphis feel this check. Is place out!

DeLania B.

Yelp
Went for Karaoke and had a blast!! Nice friendly atmosphere! Great drinks! Great staff! Definitely going back!

Yelp
I was harassed and touched multiple times by a drunk man a few days ago. I told him to stop touching me and he continued to without my consent. The third time I told him yo stop he yelled at me. No one stepped in to help. The bartenders ignored the situation. A few minutes later my friend was approached by a a drunk man trying to flirt with her. He didn't leave when we asked him to. I have been put into similar situations with men every time I've gone to this bar. I highly recommend that women don't go to the goat. It's not a safe space for women. No one is an ally to women here. Situations with men could escalate past baseline harassment to another kind of harassment. Women are never at fault for the actions of men. I've warned my friends about the goat.

Yelp
Living in the area, I've met so many people who shared their experiences of visiting The Goat and I wanted my own. I visited on a slow night with a blues band, and I really enjoyed myself. I was expecting to hear this amazing story about how it came to be named The Goat, and I heard a funny one instead. Make sure to ask! Although the bar is nothing fancy, there were some cool people there enjoying the music and incredibly priced drinks. When everything else is closed they will be open!
google avatar

Greg J.

Yelp
I can say a lot of great things about this place however if I did then you would show up and ruin the atmosphere.... great place!

Frank N.

Yelp
I absolutely love the goat. Great atmosphere and great drinks!!! Also the prices are great !!! The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because my bartender was very rude. She didnt seem friendly and also threw my card at me.

Yelp
So I was reading an article in the Observer about the top 10 five bars in Dallas that were a must. Most I've not been to so thought it would be fun to hit one or two in the near future. Well The Goat was on the list and we had just finished a concert on the lake. Popped in for a drink. What a cool place. Everyone was laid back the bartender was really nice. Was not very busy but that was ok too. Definitely want to stop in when there is live music.

Yelp
Someone recommended we try out this dive bar! It was the perfect dive bar! Great bartenders, ice cold beer, and an assortment of all kinds of friendly patrons! Great little patio out back! I loved everything about this place, and especially Zous the bartender! Will be back!
google avatar

Dana J.

Yelp
Great place for day drinkers like us who want an early start! They open at 7! Place has an old school feel to it. Wandered in on Saturday morning, some folks were already there. Our bartender, Snake, served up a cold beer for my husband and a margarita for me. Margarita packed a punch, was a great way to start my day!! TV's all around. Reminded me of a lot of the places we used to frequent along Denton Drive / Harry Hines back in the late 80's & early 90's. If I lived closer, this would be one of my hang outs. We'll be back for sure!!

Yelp
They said it couldn't be done, they said it was impossible, but we got kicked out of the The Goat last Saturday night. About now you may be asking yourself: how do you get kicked out of dive bar that has as many prostitutes in it as members of the band? Let me start off by saying that prior to The Goat we had been at a pool party, drinking in 100 degree heat. We had a boisterous table of people who were enjoying each other's company, the live music, and the people watching The Goat has to offer. Except for one guy. He was watching the TV, not interacting, and falling asleep at the table. He had been so quiet and boring that I wasn't paying attention to him anyway. Well, after homeboy nodded off, the security guy came over and kicked him out. Moral of the story is - you get kicked out of The Goat for not having a good time. I freakin' loved this bar. I had to demote a star though; after the narcoleptic was given the heave-ho, his friend went to tab out and discovered that his credit card had been stolen. The bartender had given his card to the wrong guy and the dude tipped out and signed it "Mike", and the name on the card was nothing close to Mike. Moral to the story is - pay with cash at The Goat. Shiner Bock is $3 on a Saturday night. There is also a pool table, a Pac Man / Galatica arcade game, and a back patio for the smokers. I plan on going back to The Goat for sure, but I will bringing cash, condoms, and my shank.

Yelp
Awesome little local bar with amazing blues music. Friendly staff. Great locals. Decided to check it out and was pleasantly surprised. Good music, dancing, and drinks.

Yelp
How DARE I only give Lota a four star?? What the heck was I thinkin'? Shame on me! After all, they do open up in time for such great things as morning pub crawls. The regulars looked up from their drunken stupor as we walked in the door, rowdy and ready to get our day started. Bartender served up bucket after bucket without blinking a lash, and didn't give it a second thought when a few Yelpers requested shots of tequila. It's in a shotty part of town (doesn't the club across the street get a little rough?), but whatevs. And the bar padding is held together with red duct tape, but whatevs. All this aside, the Goat's a pretty hip joint. It's a neighborhood of Dallas I never knew existed and I prefer it stay that way -- I don't want our little Goat secret to get out!

Yelp
Classic dive bar. Live music. Cheap drinks. Pool. Locals. Fun times to be had. Definitely recommend if you want to let loose, have a chill night, and enjoy casual time with friends. There's not much else over by it but I do think it's worth it to go out there to it especially if you're wanting to have 2+ drinks. Service was fast and helpful.

Simon D.

Yelp
I've been stopping by this place a few times because people seems friendly, but for the past two times (the reason I'm writing this review) STAFF and some regular customers have become hostile, as in completely ignoring me at the bar for 5 minutes until I raised my hand for another minute, and once I got the attention of the bar tender which she was just chatting to some dude that didn't stop staring at me like if I was some alien just getting off a UFO. This was the most uncomfortable situation because I didn't know if I was doing something wrong some how. After ordering a beer and staying there for 5 minutes I saw a couple coming in and they got the same treatment, I guess this place is some sort of gang only spot of some sort. Just don't go in there you will not enjoy it.
google avatar

Sampson E.

Yelp
Love this bar and would go more often if the doorman with greasy stringy ponytail that wears a Nascar ballcap wasn't there. He's a prick and extremely rude. The other doorman (has Beard) is friendly. Also there's just two bartenders!! So service sucks when busy. One of the bartenders (Sarah I think?) is always rude and pissed off. I try to avoid her if at all possible... And I never buy many drinks(maybe 2) just so I don't have to deal with her shit attitude. The other bartender is friendly but constantly talking to guys distracted. The kareoke guy(Josh I think) is absolutely horrible. Totally disorganized and if you do flash at least a 50$ bill expect to wait for hours to get on stage. I quit going on kareoke nights all together. There use to be a fat woman that ran kareoke and she was even worse! Horrible! I drive by many times and want to stop by however if I see the guy with pony tail standing outside, I go somewhere else...or if the rude bartender girl is there, I get one drink then go somewhere else.. Like The Lot bar across the street or ANY bar but Goat lol

Yelp
Not recommended for brown and other minority citizens!!! First time visiting this place and was excited for the small town bar environment. Since we arrived at the bar, we waited for approximately 15 plus minutes at the bar and still the two bartenders ignored us. I managed to the get the attention of the two bartenders that were working there and they told they'll get to me, 30 minutes passed by and they served people (non-minority) who came after us. After a total wait of 40 minutes, me and my friends left. As we were leaving one of the bartender smirked at us. Don't recommend this place if ur brown, Asian, or black!

Troy O.

Yelp
Best dive bar and live music in Dallas.

Yelp
This place is very chill and low key. Come here and ply some of your favorite jams on the jukebox, drinks are so good and so are the bartenders
google avatar

Madhuri M.

Yelp
Great place to hangout with friends. I was a little skeptical about the crowd as I wasn't sure an Indian would be welcome but all my doubts just vanished after stepping inside this place. There were diverse people just having fun and it was a great experience. Drinks are so cheap and musicians are pretty good. I have heard that they allow food from outside. I advice to double check. I am glad that I decided to check it out.

Yelp
Local dive bar that I go to once in a while. Brought in two friends that had never been and they also enjoyed my little hideaway. We went on a slow Saturday afternoon and were served promptly. Drinks were perfect and beer was ice cold. Just right for what we were looking for.
google avatar

Francisco N.

Yelp
A great, great dive bar with awesome live blues. They have great drink prices and a cool staff. The patrons here really make the atmosphere.

Jim K.

Yelp
I only go to the Goat when my friends' band is playing- JR's Roadhouse All Star Band. They are great! Always fill the dance floor when they start belting out their jams. And the crowd is always friendly. I travel from Venus, Texas just for this gig, but it's always well worth the drive. They need more gigs here!! Anyway, I LOVE the Goat!
google avatar

Beverly B.

Yelp
We were in town and went to the Goat to hear the stratoblasters! Fun and friendly bar. Band was awesome! Only downside was they didn't have anyone taking our drink orders. Had to stand in long line st the bar. I feel the bar is losing money by not having waitresses. We would have had many more beverages if we didn't have to stand in. Seems like a no-brainer to sell more drinks! And the pizza place next door was really good!
google avatar

Helen W.

Yelp
Great place for what it is - local dive joint! Friendly place with ice cold beer with a neighborhood feel. Great week nite specials!
google avatar

Todd K.

Yelp
Great neighborhood dive bar - please was packed for Sunday karaoke. Friendly bartenders, cheap beer, awesome people watching.
google avatar

Carlos O.

Yelp
Walked in and stood at the bar for ten minutes. Three bartenders looked right at me I waved them down and they walked right past me. Four other gentleman walked up and got served right away. I don't want to pull the race card but they were white and I'm Hispanic. Will not be going back.
google avatar

Lori W.

Yelp
Best Dive Bar in East Dallas! The beers are cheap and ice cold! Fun staff, lots of local people from the neighborhood. They have a pool table too!
google avatar

Susana C.

Yelp
If you are looking for a dark old bar to just sit and people watch or perhaps strike up a conversation with one of the regulars, this is the place. The drinks are cheap, the bartender knows most people by name and the smoker's patio usually has something interesting going on. These neighborhood type bars are scarce up where I live so it is nice to know they still exist in some parts of Dallas.
google avatar

Casey G.

Yelp
Straight Divvy AF, cheap beer, great tunes, beautiful women behind the bar. On Sunday nights they have karaoke. Small patio in the back for smoking. Great place to meet new people from young to old.

Yelp
Dive bar, live music, amazing diverse group of people, awesome drinks, bartenders are friendly and quick, pretty sweet patio and a pool table. Nuff said!
