The Gold Bar and Western Bar

Bartenders and food are simply amazing! However the Dj for Karaoke was not great at all. I was told and saw on the list multiple times that I was a few songs away- and after 2.5 hours never sang one song. Then multiple people who came in after me sang 3 songs before me. Then the DJ told us me that my spot on the list had not changed. This has happened to me and my friends multiple times. Not gonna go back there for karaoke. The speakers were also crazy loud, to the point you couldn’t hear anyone else in the room. But again the bars and food are crazy good!

I love the western and gold bar... A lot!!! However, if youre going for karaoke on Wednesdays and Javier is hosting it doesnt matter if you tip or not he'll tell you that youre a couple songs away and youll notice you keep getting pushed back by his favorites plus the same people over and over again before you. Multiple times Ive gone to enjoy times with a group of friends and noticed we keep getting pushed back by the people he likes. I'm writing this review because it has happened more than a handful of times. He's a very sweet guy. Charismatic however, if you have an intention to sing, think twice.

I came here for a drink during my only night in Helena, and the bartender was so incredibly kind! (I believe her name was Sarah but I may have misheard) She gave really good beer recommendations and also gave me a little token to remember Helena by, which was so so nice and I really appreciated it. Everyone should come by at least once if you are in Helena!

Whoa! Free country dance lessons at the western have me begging for more! Thank you for hosting and please do it again! Instructors were excellent and format was super fun. (And no, I don’t know the instructors, I just really am this happy with the experience!) Oh, AND I met a guy there that said he’s been driving to Bozeman for reliable country dancing— I’m thinking this is a major opportunity for weeknight dancing to become a major thing at The Western…

This was a quirky bar for me. You sit at a very cool old school wrap around bar and feel an awesome cowboy vibe, but behind you is the “old salt” burger kiosk slinging fast food. On the other side, behind the bar, is a room with casino a lot machines. One the other side is a pool table. At the bar, a few locals were drinking and swearing up a storm even though there was a table with a family sitting right behind them eating their burger from the Old Salt! It just was a bit awkward for me. I did like my beer and the bartender was nice. No wine for you though if you want that, or at least none my wife would drink. VictorB

I’m actually very disappointed in this bar, My friends are all over 21 and I am 18. We have come to this bar multiple times and I have never been given an issue because I am 18. My friends and I went in to play pool tonight and there was a bar tender we had never seen before. My friends went up and ordered drinks and the lady would not serve them untill she saw my id which is very weird as they only ordered two drinks and I was still at the pool table, when I went up to the bar tender to show her my id she told me I was not allowed in there past 10 pm and I explained that it was weird because we have come here multiple times and I had never been asked for my ID just for being in there and the one time the bar tender did ask( I was sitting at the bar with my friends and not at the pool table ) he told me I was allowed in there just obviously can’t drink. The lady then became very rude saying they don’t allow anyone under 21 after 10pm but yet this”rule” is not posted anywhere, it’s not on there website or inside the bar either and it is weird that she waited 10 minutes after she saw us come in to ask for my ID. most bars that don’t allow 18 year olds it’s after Midnight not 10 pm and they at least have the decency to post it and not be extremely rude when you explain you didn’t know because another bar tender told you a different thing. Please get your bar tenders on the same page about age restrictions and teach them customer service because neither my friends or I will be back.

My first time here. I heard about the burgers at the OLD SALT OUTPOST so came to try them out. Delicious! I'm old school n used to be a vegetarian but this montana beef is just too darn good to pass up. Seriously. It didn't come w lettuce or tomato, but if you ask they will give you some. Lilia was working behind the bar, a cute and kind young girl/woman, very patient (lol) helped get my phone to this spot to leave a review .. which I very rarely do. This is a good spot. I think the cheeseburger cost only $9. I'm here alone but I feel very comfortable n kids are eating here as well. Come try this out for yourself! God bless!

Awesome drinks! Loved my Caesar. Made perfectly. It's one of the drinks I get to judge a bar.
