The Gold Rush Closes on Elliston Place in Midtown, Nashville - Eater Nashville

"The Gold Rush, an iconic Midtown restaurant and bar, has closed after 45 years. It opened in 1974 along Nashville’s 'Rock Block', across from Exit/In. Despite efforts to remain open, including going smoke-free and revamping the menu in 2016, the cost of doing business in the changing area was too high." - BethMcKibben

We stopped in pretty quick on a Saturday afternoon because of a sidewalk sign that said $3 mimosas. They were pretty good. Bar was empty and laid back atmosphere. We had to go to the bar to order instead of staying at out table because the bartender had a bad knee. A few TV's, and a game room next to the bar. Pool table and a golf game with some lounge seating.

Food was great, service was long, but the waitress was new. Other than that I would definitely go back.

If you like spicy wings this is the place! Nearly burned my soul! Also loved the bacon burger!

Great joint. Feels like a real saloon if atmosphere's your main dig. Lots of room for any sized group as well. Drinks are a solid price if you want to crush 1 to 10 drinks, and you can get a beer and clam here.

If I this ZERO stars I would. Bartender last night (11/25/18) was a slouch. Can't review the food, as the following transpired: Driving cross county, needed to eat. Googled best places and this came up as one. Placed order over the phone and got a nice reception. Upon my son entering the place to pick up the order he was ignored. Not simply ignored for a short period of time, but for over 20 minutes with a $20 in his hand. Had I gone in with him, a very different outcome would have transpired. He was patient and after waiting and being ignored simply walked out. We travel around the country often; I will forever stay away from this place. Bartender should be ashamed of himself. I would have complained right on the spot - the food was sitting right at the end of the bar and remained there. What a waste.

This place used to be the trendy spot to go to. After a great show on the strip of Elliston Place or just an original destination, The Gold Rush was always packed. Now after some renovations it seems like the crowd is no longer interested. While most of the changes are small, like removing 1 pool table, something about it does not seem the same. I went with a friend on a Friday night and she couldn't believe that there was hardly anyone there. The prices for drinks are still reasonable but that doesn't seem to matter at this point.

My husband thought we would try it out on Friday and had a great time! The bar staff are extremely entertaining and friendly. Laid back environment and great food and drinks! We will definitely be coming back and bringing friends.

Cool vibe, but I went here with a lady friend for $5 whiskeys, and after a few drinks, the bartender "offered" to let us try a fun drink that he invented. After getting the check, I realized he also charged us $10 a pop for them. I don't really appreciate having my bill jacked up, especially on my first visit. I don't think I'll be returning.
