"The trio of cafes under this umbrella are more than places to grab breakfast and lunch; they are social gathering spots in Southampton, Bridgehampton, and this one in East Hampton.  They sell breakfast items like hearty organic oatmeal with warm berries and spa burritos, as well as midday dishes such as a variety of sandwiches and salads. Don’t miss the pastries, quinoa bagels, passionfruit tea, and chocolate hazelnut coffee." - Beth Landman

Stopped here for breakfast. Got the regular egg sandwich on a croissant and a mini egg sandwich. Great selection of muffins, pastries, and coffee available. Food was really good, and was served with fruit. Small seating area for dining in. Prices are high, but that's to be expected in that area.

Google
Decent breakfast options. Love their muffins, smoothies and fruit juices. It does get busy especially weekend brunches so make sure to account for wait time take out that’s from the kitchen.

Google
Golden rip off get it together. I’ve been coming here for over 8 years as I work right next door. Different prices everytime. Something I got last week was somehow $6 more this week. Getting insane. Don’t want to screw the locals since they’re the ones who keep you open in the winter. Please get it together. I’m getting sick of it. 7 wontons for $24 🤣🤣🤣

Elizabeth Chiron

Google
Outrageously overpriced. I got a piece of quiche with NO side (no drink, etc) and with tax it was $26!! Price was not listed on chalkboard menu. I should have canceled but I was starving. The man was nice but there’s a weird staff vibe.

Simona G

Google
The flat bagel was very good and the vanilla iced latte was one of the best I’ve had :)

Google
Quaint spot for afternoon coffee and pastries OR a kick-butt sandwich or entree. Outdoor seating offers top views. We love these Parisienne chairs, too.

Fiona Molloy Lepperd

Google
Very friendly and smiling staff. Excellent food with a variety of choices. Decor is a bit tired and chairs were a bit wonky. Clean restroom and adequate parking.

Not sure great spot for food but the coffee is good, service is very slow and the food is pretty forgettable but the price are unjustifiably high.

Yelp
Solid 4 Stars for a quick convenient lunch while out on the East End for the day. I had the roasted turkey panini with herbed brie, tomato, and Barcelona vinaigrette on this rustic ciabatta bread. Oh mylanta and my stars! My insides sang such happy songs while I devoured my panini. So much so that after leaving the Cafe I said to myself that I still have my discount from post wedding registry I ordered a panini maker off of Williams Sonoma. That's how damn good the panini was. The coleslaw was meh but the standout was the panini. So much so I've already made a mental note depending what time I leave Montauk after my annual work trip I may stop in here. I don't care if I sit by myself because it was that good. Golden Pear you can count on me coming back for more!

Yelp
Iced teas are good and for the most part it's a straight up deli. The best part? It's a deli in the Hamptons! Got a mug, but after hand washing the logo and writing came off.

Tiffany T.

Yelp
Edit: from the owners response below, their lunch sandwiches are not buttered. I recommend that anyone who wants this sandwich to confirm this when you order because it appears some of his staff are unaware. This place serves mid food for insane prices and we only go there because there's few options nearby to grab lunch before hopping on the Jitney. Every pastry I've had there is mediocre. Every lunch I've had there is mediocre, but in this case it was a little less than mediocre. The sandwich was incredibly dry, needed sauce, dressing, mayo, something. Instead they buttered the bread??? Who butters a lunch sandwich. The lettuce and tomato at least provided some (albeit limited) moisture. Pasta salad was fine.

Yelp
The heart of the Hamptons for both breakfast and lunch. The service is always on point. Although there can sometimes be a long wait, it is well worth it. I got the specialty sandwich #1 "The Southampton". The Turkey and Brie combo with honey mustard was really good. The ambiance screams hamptons vibes. They always have a large selection of flavored coffees including flavors decaf coffees to choose from. If you have never been to the hamptons. This place is a must for all. If you haven't been to the Golden Pear, you haven't been to the hamptons.

Javier B.

Yelp
Terrible service..!! Over priced..!! The food was mediocre at best... The staff seemed upset for having to working there.

Julia F.

Yelp
In the off-season, I fell in love with the Golden Pear Cafe. The prices were atrociously high, the food service incredibly slow, but STILL! The food was yummy and the vibes were incredibly fun.

Julie K.

Yelp
Excellent menu and the food is always fresh and delicious. The prices are commensurate with Southampton eateries. I usually get one of the breakfast pastries and they've been fresh. My favorite is the lunch combo, sandwich and coleslaw (they have a choice of salads/sides.) The grilled chicken is always juicy and flavorful, the cibatta bread, fresh and all the toppings are yummy. I wish the space was larger but I always enjoy my food and time there.

Stevi F.

Yelp
$20 for a small piece of quiche and some pieces of melon. I know we're In the Hamptons but Sorry but that's a ripoff. Ps: they should give a salt packet with that because it has no flavor

Deborah L.

Yelp
Got deli stuff so I didn't have to wait for preparation. It's expensive but cheaper than most places in the Hamptons and the customer service was quick and polite. Easy parking and tables and chairs outside and a clean bathroom. That's all I needed to be on my haply way.

Jamie S.

Yelp
I think the Bridgehampton location of the Golden Pear is good for what it is. It's one of the cheapest meals in the area and great for lunch. I placed an order online for pick up and it was ready at the promised time and waiting on a set of shelves by the front door. Our food was still warm by the time I picked it up. There is a little parking lot just to the right of the shop which makes picking up orders really easy. They have a few tables set up outside which seem to be on a first come, first served basis. I had the scrambled eggs and cheddar sandwich on a croissant. The sandwich itself was solid and the fruit that came on the side were all fresh. My husband had the spa burrito and enjoyed it. This is by no means a fancy place, it's a step up from a basic diner and it gets the job done.

Noelle S.

Yelp
Way overdue...I've been going to the Golden Pear for over 10 years and while I've most often frequented this location and the one in East Hampton, I've had a consistent experience in South Hampton and Sag Harbor. It's always perfect- breakfast for a group, lunch in the go, coffee for a stroll around town...and don't sleep on the chocolate chip cookie! It took me until last September to try it and it was great! The mini breakfast sandwich is my go-to; it's the perfect size and not something you find other places. They happily customize requests as best as possible, and in the height of covid when I was doing a lot of ordering ahead for pickup my order was always complete and on time. Definitely a layup if you're in the Hamptons- you can't go wrong!

Tim M.

Yelp
The service here is awful. No effort to make their mistakes right - just got shouted at that "you gotta pay extra". Both my drinks and food order were wrong and the staff simply didn't care.

Tracy K.

Yelp
The Golden Pear has locations in many of the main towns in The Hamptons. They are a cafe that aspires to be above a deli, is on main streets, with good sized stores, easy take out and always some tables for sitting. They are ready to make you an espresso coffee or you can choose from a variety of teas. Even off season, as my most recent visit in January, in Bridgehampton they had hot food and it was all fresh. I tried the mac & cheese and meatloaf. I didn't like the soft bit too tangy salty//carroty/tomatoey- lol- flavor of the latter but it was fresh and I would happily try other things here. They have a good oversized chocolate chip cooke! and they had some fresh blueberry baked cake of sorts when I was there.. tried both. Go for the cookie. And the hot tea. They didn't wow me as much as relieve me that they were there for good quick takeout. They certainly try to put out a variety of fresh baked items for people coming in for coffee or tea. Very nice to have that too.

Anita S.

Yelp
This is easily the best café on Long Island. The service is great, the food is excellent. Great for everything from lunch with a large group to a quick stop for a snack. I could not recommend it more hoghly. The have a range of food, so there's something for everyone. The croissants are excellent, escpecially the chocolate ones. They even have great vegetarian options, is spite of the distinctly tex-mex vibe. I don't see many people trying the smoothies, but you should because they're delicious.

Jeffrey B.

Yelp
The prices are going up, up, up but it remains a staple for the summer... TIP: register your cell phone for text updates and when you purchase give the number - you will get a text giving you a $1 discount on your next visit... every little helps This 2017 the Golden Pear in Southampton has removed all prices from its menu boards on the wall. Thankfully other outlets have the priced menu still available.

Victoria J.

Yelp
I didn't have a meal here, so this review is not about their food (which looked good by the way). The coffee was good, though, not the best...but good. It's self serve and they have about 8 flavors for you to choose from so that's nice for people who might want to mix and match. We also got a variety of pastries that were great, especially the blueberry crumcake--it was huge! Overall this is a great pit stop for a sip of coffee and some breakfast when you are out, but, really, there is nothing super special about it to me.

Mie T.

Yelp
I'm not like that person waiting for over 30minutes for just a sandwich. Wasting time. Never again. Also costed almost $20 for a sandwich and two drinks. If you would like to charge us a lot, work harder!!

Peter P.

Yelp
This is fairly expensive place when it comes to breakfast. Yeah I get it everyone in the Hampton probably has the money to pay for this stuff, but I bought a crossiant and coffee and it came out to $8.10. It's a nice little place with a cozy atmosphere - but considering the size of the crossiant it was a little to small for the price you are paying. But then again we're in the Hamptons. They look fairly busy, a lot of people comming in and out.

Annie D.

Yelp
Easily. Double the price of other spots. $40 for egg/bacon bagel, mini egg cheese sandwich and 3 bakery chocolate croissants. This would be $20 anywhere else. I Didn't even buy coffee. Waited 15-20 minutes to get sandwich. Overheard them say it was slower day (seemed busy to me). Price wise the clearly take advantage of the social class of the area and it Probably actually helps there sales to have high prices in the market and floats them through the slower times of the year. Sandwich was good and eggs where free range so two stars because for the average middle class person this was just to expensive. But again I'm not the demographic they are going for.

Chris H.

Yelp
If you wake up and realize you're out of breakfast food or just too tired to cook when in any area of the Hamptons near Golden Pear, you inevitably end up here. Then you realize everyone else feels the exact same way. While waiting in line and worrying about what will be left when you get to order, You'll look at potentially getting a delicious avocado toast, or perhaps a tasty breakfast sandwich. Both are excellent as you recall. Throw in that coffee that you desperately need and you can head back poolside at the house You rented for the weekend. You place your order and get the bill. This is where I just get crushed. To go breakfast for two will inevitably set you back $60 + and you'll wonder how the heck you managed that. You'll be annoyed, shocked at how much you spent by 9:00 AM. Then you'll likely do it all over again the following day.

Brooke M.

Yelp
My son loves the chocolate chip crumb muffins!! They are delicious! The chili, wraps and salads are also very good.

Michael A.

Yelp
Nice breakfast at Golden Pear. Haven't eaten here in a while wasn't a fan a couple of years ago. But was brought back to giving it a try by a colleague and noticeable improvements. The eggs and fruit and croissant was very fresh. The aged cheddar is a nice touch. Would have breakfast here again prices are golden.

Donna G.

Yelp
Overrated, overpriced, fufu in the Hamptons. Girl behind the counter had a very thick accent, barely spoke English. When I got my order, I looked at it...it looked wrong..I brought it back up. They got the order wrong. Waiting...waiting for the corrected order...A worker is walking with the tray asking all the seated people (who have food already) "Is this your order? is this yours?" She finally comes to my table at last. At least they didn't charge me for the correction. Bacon Mac & Cheese good. Hampton Tea fountain drink stale, bland. It seems many of the sandwiches have onions in them. I overheard a customer, "Every time I order the exact same item, it's always a different price". They have a bin with day old items for sale, so I bought the cornbread; it certainly tasted old. For 2 people for lunch - about $40. I feel it's not good for big groups because there's just about 6 tables.

B H.

Yelp
Since my last experience at the Golden Pear which I used to love the convenience of walking into town and being able to grab a bite but now I would rather drive somewhere else then ever give another cent to them. Not only are they becoming over priced (without any prices on the board...weird) but the customer service is next to nothing. After placing an order and the food finally coming out one of the orders was missing. We went up to the cashier to asked where our other order was and he replied that we never place an order. During placing an order we specifically asked about the visual special on the board sitting next to the register and after inquiring said it sounded great we will take one of those. I understand things happen but when your telling a customer and arguing with them that they did not place an order does it really make you want to go back? Wouldn't you have just said "my apologies, someone will bring it to the table"but instead says "well do you want to place order?" If you can't be friendly and have an attitude then perhaps the hospitality industry is not a good fit for you. For a three people and a $100 bill, yeah service matters.

Kat L.

Yelp
Paid $20 for a little less than a pound of curry chicken salad and maybe 1/2 pound of Spanish rice. Food was good but $20 is ridiculous! Customer service was not the greatest either.

Kristen L.

Yelp
I ordered a gift basket for my friend going through a tough time through The Golden Pear's website. Gina carefully curated a beautiful basket and added in a couple more items to make the basket even more meaningful. She emailed me photos of the basket and kept me updated on the delivery. Would highly recommend The Golden Pear! Gina went the extra mile and her kindness was so so appreciated.

Brendan S.

Yelp
Im a big fan of the food here. If it wasn't for the fact that its priced very hamptons, id give it a 5 star. ($13 for a sandwich is steep)

Mark M.

Yelp
Always dependable and reliable for tasty food. Perfect for breakfast, brunch and dinner; many options.

Ryan C.

Yelp
The food here is really good for a quick bite to eat. They have great breakfast choices and endless choices of sandwiches. The sandwiches are very customizable. One of the best things about the Golden Pear Cafe is that they provide coffee creamer to anyone that purchased coffee. This is a great place for a quick breakfast lunch or dinner. It is also open during covid-19 which is great.

Stephen B.

Yelp
NIce stop on the journey to or from Montauk or wherever on the SoFo. Good selection and nice atmosphere. Been there twice. Both times were nice experiences.

Sue K.

Yelp
Wow! I love their coffee and blueberry crumb cake especially blueberry crum cake which is so..... good.. I just knew coffee would be good when I just stepped in to use the bathroom on the way back to the city after spending a long weekend. I saw them grinding the coffee bean and knew their coffee would be good. So my friends and I decided to try some coffee and deserts. Wow.. Blueberry crumb cake is so good. I wish I took a picture of it.

James K.

Yelp
I went here with my girlfriend about a week ago and all we can remember is how many flies and insects there are in the eating areas and kitchen. They need to call an exterminator. There are hundreds of flies including many that land on the food. I wouldn't recommend this place. Food was fine but unsanitary

Katie F.

Yelp
The place is a gem! Fresh and delicious, lots of choices for breakfast and lunch. The service is friendly.

Janice R.

Yelp
Love the atmosphere at both little cafe! The Mac-n-Cheese was pretty tasty, wasn't crazy about the ice tea. The

Vanessa D.

Yelp
UHMMMM....$20 delivery fee on top of the food order, to go not even 10 min away. RIDICULOUS. I WAS going to try this place out but that was a huge turn off. You lost a potential everyday cuatomer. Def should make a change to your outrageous "delivery fee" price. Is it delivered on a jet and fed to me with a golden 24k spoon? Don't think so.

Alex A.

Yelp
Gotta be the most overhyped location in the Hamptons. The food is ok but way expensive for what it is they serve and the locations are always overpacked and chaotic. The staff is not patient and the coffee is weak. Certainly not the first pick for a meal.

Nicole L.

Yelp
Best place for breakfast and lunch in Bridgehampton. Such a wide variety of options whether you're a professional in Bridgehampton looking for a high quality espresso beverage to start the day, or a family sitting down to enjoy a nice meal. The Golden Pear provides delicious options for those looking for something hearty but just as many for those who are interested in a lighter fare like myself. The Quinoa Salad is the best I've ever had! Everything is made fresh daily and it's worth every penny when you can taste the quality in all of the ingredients used. I also love that they're now serving wine and beer! My go-to spot in Bridge. Highly recommend.

M H.

Yelp
Food seems very fresh but everything we got was so bland and ridiculously overpriced. I don't mind the prices if the food was delicious but being that it was so flavorless the prices were insulting. Would not return.

Ann N.

Yelp
I went to Golden Pear in Bridgehampton And for lunch it is delicious! I had the turkey Chilli and it was perfect for a wet, damp day!! I would go back as I liked the cozy Atmosphere! Wonder if it gets really Crowded as this was Oct 1,2015!

Alan H.

Yelp
Service is horrendous. Ordered a large passion fruit iced tea with light ice and only orange slices added to the tea . I noticed her filling up the tea with almost the entire glass filled to top with ice . I then corrected her and she poured out most of the ice . She proceeded to refill the cup and then started adding lime slices to the drink . Had to correct her again . Paid $6 for an iced tea and to make matters worse she never informed me that they don't have the passion fruit iced tea anymore and what she served me was apricot iced tea . Similar thing happened this morning when my wife went back and ordered iced hazelnut coffee . Filled to rim with ice and told my wife she didn't order flavored coffee and filled it with regular . If you are going to charge hotel/ resort prices for your food at least use some of that extra money to pay to get properly trained employees . Only in the Hamptons would this be tolerated . And how about the 3 % credit card surcharge ....

Joe H.

Yelp
We have come to this cafe four or five times now and we were there over Memorial day weekend. They do a fantastic lunch and coffee is the best we have had on the east end to date. The muffins and pastry are some of the best I've had. They are from a local bake shop and delicious. The menu items are fresh and appealing. Needless to say after enjoying the coffee and treats we bought a bag of beans to go. This is a really nice high end cafe that i highly recommend , especially if you enjoy quality food.

Laura S.

Yelp
Very good coffee and delicatessens. The staff was very nice, friendly and carying. I will definitely come back. Just one comment: please add ceramic mugs for coffee and latte that are not to go :)

Ren T.

Yelp
Don't let the the name fool you. This place is a low budget deli with terrible ingredients. I ordered a PB & J for my kid and they took the peanut butter from a smuckers diner to go single serve packet. Disgusting. This is the hamptons. Don't go here. Low budget wrapped in a charming name.

Shelly A.

Yelp
It's a Hampton's must. How can you go and not drop by the Golden Pear for at least one lunch. They have some great fresh sandwiches and paninis. They have a fantastic steam table of Veggie Chilli, Turkey Chilli and other daily items like quiche. Try the Shinnock Hills - its a great sandwich. Also get the pasta salad; its some of the best I've had.

Jacqueline Z.

Yelp
Stopped in for a quick breakfast and was disappointed with both dishes ordered. I had the breakfast panini and my boyfriend had the breakfast burrito. The panini had way too much spinach and the flavors in the burrito did not blend well. The coffee was delicious though :)

Kristina N.

Yelp
Let me preface this by saying that I will pay for high quality of anything without a complaint. The quality is lacking here for the price. For two 16 ounce vegetable chilis and two small juices, we paid $40.00. The folks working the counter are pleasantly neutral, and understood my shock over the price. This is a Hamptons location and I understand overhead costs, but COME ON! Hold your appetite over with a Kind bar and some water from the gas station up the road. In short: A glorified Starbucks.

Nikita K.

Yelp
I really like their menu and side salads. An excellent place to stop at prior to taking the train back to the City. But service tends to be a bit slow - come early. It's also pretty pricey for what it is (think NYC prices at $15/sandwich). They also have a good lighter options menu if you've indulged a bit while in The Hamptons.

Valerie R.

Yelp
$7 for a cup of soup. $14 for bagel w/lox. The Lobster bisque is just basically lobster flavor with lots of thickeners, so outrageous prices for basically average sometimes sub par food. Generally knowledgeable, nice & very efficient staff though.

Peter D.

Yelp
Great delicious, fresh selection of soups, sandwiches, hot food selections and salads. Gluten free and vegetarian soups are great options. The best coffee and muffins in the Hamptons. A well managed, clean environment. Staff is very helpful and polite. You get served quickly. They have multiple locations in the Hamptons and they're all excellent. Sign up with them for specials and discounts that they will text to you.
