Casual breakfast-til-late neighbourhood spot serving New York and Middle Eastern influenced dishes.
"This Middle-Eastern inspired cafe in Stoke Newington may not be delivering its excellent breakfasts, but they are delivering Bake-Your-Own-Babka kits across London." - heidi lauth beasley, jake missing, rianne shlebak
"What to get:The boozy DIY bagel kit and friends. The Good Egg are delivering babka, bagels, brownies, and some other lovely things that don’t begin with B. We’re very into their pecan pie babka, but it’s their salt beef boozy bagel box that has ‘park hang’ written all over it. It comes with cava, 200g of salt beef, Montreal sesame bagels, and all the extras you need, but there’s also a boozy salmon option and a brownie selection box to get involved in too." - heidi lauth beasley
"There are a couple of things to know before you visit The Good Egg for brunch. First, it’s extremely popular so be prepared to queue, and second, everything’s sharing-style, so definitely lean towards over-ordering. It’s always rammed with Stokey locals, and that’s because the Middle Eastern-ish food is consistently great. Get the shakshuka and as much challah as your table can eat." - jake missing, daisy meager, sinead cranna, heidi lauth beasley
"The Stoke Newington brunch favourite specialises in Montréal bagels, which are basically a little more of a handful, a bigger hole, and a denser dough interior. Is this a good thing? Yes. At least, if theirs are anything to go by. The thick-cut lox and cream cheese, heavy on capers, is a delight." - Jake Oliver, Sinead Cranna
"There are a couple of things to know before you visit The Good Egg in Stoke Newington for brunch. First, it’s extremely popular so be prepared to queue, and second, everything’s sharing-style, so definitely lean towards coming with a few people. The Middle Eastern-inspired restaurant is reminiscent of an NYC-style brunch spot and it’s a popular, if a little inconsistent quality-wise, N16 mainstay. But if you stick to anything with freshly baked bread you’ll be happy. The pastrami-cured lox plate with toasted challah is a favourite." - Jake Missing
