The Gourmet Store

While The Gourmet Store proclaims that it is gourmet, I think it would be more fair more then to say that it is a food store that specializes in Italian food goods. They have pasta, sauces, Italian cookies, olives, etc. Then there is a smattering of Irish crackers, jams/preserves, etc. that are strangely juxtaposed. Not even really a great selection of salumi and cheese. Go if you need Italian foodstuffs, but there are better places in Kilkenny to find local Irish food products.

Great coffee and sandwiches. Super delicious and affordable. Friendly staff and a warm, inviting atmosphere. Highly recommend!

Confusing queue system here, could do with a queuing to order on one side, waiting to collect on the other system. Plus it's odd that you have to get your coffee from another counter where they don't know if you've paid for it already, confusing for the customer! Ordered a "French" roll toasted. Came out kinda messy and wasn't heated through. For 7 euro I expected better. Maybe it's a tourist trap kinda place, have had better and cheaper from a petrol station.

Stopped by here randomly two weeks ago, during a day trip to Kilkenny. We both got the Dubliner sandwich and some soft drinks. Delicious sandwich, made with care! As well, the benches on either side of the front door are a wonderful, practical addition. Sat outside, and met some lovely locals and their dogs, and got a good sense of the community.

Lovely staff, really amazing baked goods and coffee. Usually love the Panini's - except any of the ones with lettuce in, warm wilted lettuce isn't great. Great prices. Will stop here whenever I'm in Kilkenny.

Always a great place to grab a bite to eat on the go! Great deli, Quality ingredients guaranteed everytime. From sandwiches, panini, wraps and rolls plus the Carmel slices are on point everytime 👌 friendly staff and very clean premises. Will always be back, it's a kilkenny staple!

If you are on a mission to find the nicest coffee in Kilkenny, then look no further. The Gourmet Store has the most delicious coffee, tastiest deli sandwiches and friendliest staff in Kilkenny by a mile. It's no wonder they have been in business for 24 years!

Recently visit the much talked about store, found the menu to be nice, ordered the New York Club, with pesto, got 2 lettuce leafs, about the same amount of butter as Mayo, enough warm crispy bacon, 3 little slivers of chicken breast, a sixth of a tomato, and no fillings to within 2 inches of either end of the roll. Asked a senior member of staff to address the issue, told me if I wanted fillings all the way to the edge I would have to pay extra, that was the portions she exclaimed, I asked if she would amend it as I thought it was sub standard after about 2 decades of enjoying Deli rolls to my my accreditation and said she would and did nothing and handed it back to me, I literally had to cringe at the awkwardness of addressing the roll was exactly the same again and asked her if she saw a difference and said no that she would amend it. Took the roll back, cut it in half and handed it back to me, €7.50 for a roll and drink and it was nothing shy of substandard, asked twice for amendments and egos and attitude was all I got, oh and my roll cut in half. #Neveragain

I've been coming to Kilkenny for the last 7 years to visit family. They took me to the Gourmet store on my first visit. Now I make it a regular. They have the most amazing Coffee in the city. Besides that they have really terrific sandwiches. My favorite is the Kilkenny. It's sausage, bacon, and white pudding. The are less than 5 euros each. See the menu photo . They are great for picnics up at Kilkenny Castle. I always buy the apple and pear scones too. The scones are baked there in the shop along with the greatest brown bread I've had in Ireland. It is topped with sesame seeds. Take home a loaf to America as I do!!

This place sells jars of chutney, pesto, gourmet sauces and lots more off the shelves and also has a deli counter serving up great panini's, wraps and rolls to-go. A very popular place for take-away lunch and deservedly so...reasonably priced and yummy!
