Our latest Grain Cafe delicious meal was a late takeout order. The food was fresh, hot, on time and packed nicely. We really enjoyed the cobb salad and the burrito. The soup of the day was outstanding with a ton of flavor. The black beans and rice were a nice hearty side and the green sauce had a little kick but not too much heat. The cobb salad was a lovely presentation and the flavors were great. Overall we got great food at a good value and the location is convenient and very nice inside.. it feels very warm and cozy. The food here is very fresh and we will come back and dine in soon!

Just had my first visit to The Grain Café in Redondo Beach and it definitely won’t be my last. I ordered a Chicken (not real chicken) curry spinach wrap stuffed with fresh veggies and paired it with their roasted potatoes. Everything tasted super fresh and satisfying, and the portion size was spot on. The wrap was colorful, crunchy, and full of flavor, and the potatoes were seasoned perfectly. To drink, I tried the ginger lemonade, and wow, it was refreshing with just the right kick of ginger. It balanced the meal really well. The vibe of the place was relaxed and welcoming, and service was friendly. Overall, a great first impression. Excited to come back and enjoy the same thing.

We had a big event where we booked the whole restaurant! They were AMAZING, very welcoming, accommodating, and nice to interact with. And the food was amazing and every single person, from the 50 people we invited, loved the food and atmosphere!

Google
Relaxing atmosphere, friendly service, tasty vegan food with a fresh flavor. You must try it at least once if you haven't been. Did I mention they make their own hot sauce!

Prasanth G.

Google
Excellent service at this cozy animal product free restaurant! From their appetizers all the way through to their desserts, everything was delicious. They have an absolutely huge menu with a variety of unique dishes from different cultural origins. Definitely give their vegan house hot sauce a try!

I have been to this location numerous times. What I enjoy are the delicious vegan options, that’s why I continue to come back again and again. There is one Latino gentleman who is extremely attentive and friendly each time we visit (typically during 11am-1pm time). As great as the food and service is from this specific person (I wish I knew his name because his service is amazing), the date is 11/3/2024, the time is 4:45pm, there is a young woman attending to orders, and I have been waiting on sushi and side salads for close to 20 minutes now. I will continue to come back but I wish the expediency and urgency of each order is taken more seriously because I feel like it isn’t. NOTE: the food was 100% delicious

Google
We have dined here 6 times now since July 2025 They have a large selection of vegan foods to choose from. The servers are very helpful when asked questions. A nice place to eat.

Google
Came here with mom and sister. Great company. This was our first time here. There were so many dishes to choose from. Service was okay, she took our order, brought us our food and brought the check. Nothing above and beyond. Food was delicious. My sister and I both chose different crepes, while mom ordered hash browns and a English muffin sandwich. I would come back to try some of the other dishes that caught my eye.

Yelp
I'm actually genuinely confused by the club sandwich I ordered. I think this is a vegan restaurant, but I feel like 75% certain that what I ate was actually chicken. Am I tripping? I legitimately thought about calling the restaurant to ask and make sure I didn't accidentally eat chicken. I still might tomorrow. If I find out it was real chicken, this review is definitely getting updated...lol

Yelp
Service is fine, since we asked what options we may order without onion and garlic. Server knows the menu and the preparation well, and for few times he went double check for us. So that may other and enjoy my meal with peace and rest. Vegan cheese was tasty. I knew the drink I could ask for less sweet. Environment is spacious.

Yelp
I love grain cafe. Sure at times they have their moments but im glad theyve survived all this time. I recommend their tres leche and strawberry almond cake. My go to breakfast is usually the bagel with fruit, it tastes fresh and i love pairing it with the ginger lemonade. Sometimes its sweeter, sometimes it more ginger punch!! I love their potato tacos for when im craving something a little more savory and their sun butter and cocoa nibs smoothie are good too. Lets see also their torta mmmm yum im hungry now

Yelp
Arriving around 4:00 p.m., after a pleasant walk, we found the restaurant fairly empty. No one was at the register, so I helped myself to a couple of menus. Choosing what to eat proved challenging; the menu offered a wide variety. My friend is encouraging me to eat more vegan meals, aiming for four days a week. I started with a berry smoothie. The menu boasted many vegan options, but I ultimately opted for a pizza with roasted peppers, zucchini, mushrooms, vegan cheese, and marinara sauce, along with a side of potatoes. My friend ordered a club sandwich, adding mushrooms, and a side salad. My pizza was exquisite--it practically melted in my mouth! The sauce had an unexpected, almost buffalo-like tang, though it was listed as marinara. Even though I was quite full from the potatoes and smoothie, I managed two slices. I'll definitely return to explore more of the menu, but I highly recommend the pizza--you won't be disappointed.

Yelp
Vegan shenanigans continue... Someone told me about this place. So we decided to check it out. After asking for recommendations from the waiter, I went with the breakfast burrito and vanilla latte. Both were delicious. I had never had tempeh bacon. So good. And the coffee wasn't bitter at all. My niece got three tacos and an iced caramel coffee. She said they were all good, but the highlight was the potato taco. The only thing we didn't like was the homemade salsa. It was heat without any other flavor. They should work on that. This place is highly recommended though. They have a lot of variety on the menu. So there's something for almost everyone.

Yelp
I went to visit my sister in Hermosa Beach and she recommended we go to The Grain Cafe for lunch. It is located in a strip shopping center with a few other vegetarian restaurants located nearby. It is comfortable with ample seating and bright decorations. This restaurant is vegan, which I was interested in trying, since I have been transitioning to eating more plant based foods. We both ordered the Hibiscus Iced Tea, which was quite good and was served with honey. I ordered the Falafel Wrap with a side of potatoes. The falafel was baked which I prefer over fried. The ample spinach wrap was stuffed with falafel, hummus, lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers and tahini sauce. The potatoes were decent but were not very hot. Overall the lunch was tasty and there was enough food to bring home leftovers. My sister ordered the Patty Crepe but was brought the Veggie Crepe instead. She ate half of it before realizing that there was no patty. She informed the server that she was given the wrong order and apologized and offered to bring the patty separately, which she accepted. She took a bite of it and said it was very good but would save it for later. She also took home half of her order. The menu is quite extensive. I would definitely return to try out some of their other dishes.

Yelp
Had the chilaquiles and they were great. Next time a burrito maybe? Everything looked good and their own bottled salsa was very good and "warm". Go try it and let me know your thoughts

Yelp
Just found a gem in Redondo Beach! Calling all vegans - and especially those needing gluten-free options - you HAVE to try this place. I honestly had the best vegan and gluten-free breakfast I've had in a long time. It's almost impossible to find a breakfast that meets both those criteria and tastes this amazing! My husband and I shared a few dishes to try a bit of everything, and we were so impressed. And the lattes? Just heavenly! We absolutely can't wait to stop by again on our next trip to Redondo Beach.

Yelp
I was looking for a place that had vegan options during breakfast when I remembered seeing this Grain Cafe location during my last visit to the neighboring restaurant Happy Veggie. I'm no stranger to Grain Cafe. I've previously enjoyed a Reuben sandwich or two via delivery from the Long Beach location. However, I've never had the pleasure of dining in. That is, until now. My mom, my sister, and I walked into this Redondo Beach location on a Sunday after 9am and was seated right away. There was only one other party in the dining room at the time of arrival and another party that arrived after us. The amount of options on this all-vegan menu is impressive! I had the Veggie Crêpe which totally hit the spot. It was filled with spinach, mushroom, zucchini, red bell peppers, and topped with a garlic-basil aioli. The portion was quite large! I also like that the side salad had a bit of quinoa. Whatever dressing they use on the salad is tasty. https://bit.ly/3TlLTaj My sister had the Patty Crêpe which I almost ordered myself so I was stoked that she went for it. I appreciate that they used a veggie patty and not Beyond or Impossible. It comes with vegan cheese, tomatoes, pickles, avocado, and a special sauce. https://bit.ly/3T4hSKR My mom had the English Muffin which sandwiched tofu and vegan sausage and cheese. This came with a side of hashbrowns. https://bit.ly/3UXyFlh Yummy dishes all around! Good neighborhood cafe. The large dining room was fairly empty for the most part which makes me wonder if lunch and/or dinner are more busier times. I would absolutely eat breakfast here again though I wouldn't mind checking out the lunch/dinner vibes as well.

Yelp
Great food and atmosphere. Completely plant-based. Ample parking. Lots of cakes. Open late hours.

Yelp
Great plant based restaurant! This restaurant is located in an outdoor strip mall with a few other plant based restaurants. Parking in the lot was easy and plentiful no matter what time we visited. In short, the burritos are amazing. I've dined in and had takeout and was not disappointed. This is one of my favorite places for a burrito. Service is good. Prices are reasonable.

Yelp
I come here periodically and get the deluxe burger which was delicious. My visit yesterday. The bread was stale and the desert I ordered was miniscule. For a $30 lunch I expected better quality. Can't say I'll be coming back. Very disappointing.

Sam J.

Yelp
Tried to come here for lunch and was waiting around to be seated, but there was no wait staff. The chefs did try to find their coworker(s), but not sure where they were so I had to leave. Really wanted to try this spot, but kind of an unfortunate first impression.
google avatar

Yelp
I LOVE this restaurant! I love this location. Huge parking lot, they close late and open early, friendly service and the space is huge! I highly recommend eating here!!
google avatar

Susan U.

Yelp
For years,I have been coming here but cakes are worse, tasteless. The Tuna Melt Sandwich is my favorite. I've had several breakfast food also and the French toast is really good. The interior has many Mexican cultural accents. I love it. The staff is attentive. Just the cakes.
google avatar

Teagan L.

Yelp
Ordered to go and was told it would take 10-15 minutes for my 2 items to be made which is pretty standard seeing as it wasn't busy at all. Two people walked in after me and got their full order before I got my to go order and I had to wait about 40 minutes to get my order of burrito and torta. My items were room temperature at best- and after I ate a majority of my food I found a black hair on the bottom of my container which I am blonde so I know it's not mine. I am disgusted as I'm not sure how much other pieces of hair or other items I just ate that isn't food. I spent $40, waiting 40 minutes and hair in my room temperature food. Definitely don't recommend and I should be getting my money back but I don't have time to call as this place also made me late to work and I now only have the ability to type not call.

Yelp
Nice atmosphere, shared a burger and two soups of the day, Lentil. Very attentive staff, willing to modify the dishes. Delicious food.
google avatar

Yelp
The Grain Cafe in Redondo Beach as incredible! We've tried the following: patty crepe, Cobb Salad, hamburger, Reuben sandwich. All were satisfying and fully vegan. And the kindest servers and kitchen staff. I love this place and am looking forward to trying some of their dinner choices next. Vegan food that fills you up and leaves your tummy feeling light and happy. We love it!
google avatar

Labdhi P.

Yelp
This is a such a cool vegan spot! Glad that we have found this chain that makes it easy to find delicious vegan delights. We have tried the Redondo beach location and the Long Beach location and they both have cute ambiance and friendly staff. We have tried the tropical and the chocolate crepes, veggie burger with roasted potatoes, wet burritos and tostadas and all of their food was delicious. I think the chocolate crepe was slightly chewy and could have been better and probably needed more chocolate sauce. We would love to come back and try other items on the menu. This location has good parking spaces available.

Lali G.

Yelp
I love The Grain Cafe. It's a cute little place. Nice and clean. The staff is friendly and it feels so good to support a healthy, plant based restaurant. They have an extensive menu and everything I've had there is healthy and delicious. Vegan restaurants often offer a lot of fried food, but this place does not. It's truly a healthy place to eat, it's my go-to when I don't want to cook, but still want something very healthy and satisfying. I love their burger, lentil soup, sushi roll, Ruben sandwich, and falafel wrap. My husband is not a vegan but still enjoys several things from the menu, the "chicken" wrap being one of them. The potatoes they offer as a side are excellent. And don't sleep on their desserts with a fresh tea. The strawberry cake is so yummy!
google avatar

Bill B.

Yelp
Service was great but the food was way too spicy. It really messed with my stomach and digestive system. Never again...

vanessa b.

Yelp
Delicious delicious delicious food, I got the veggie wrap - the veggies were bright and tangy and the peppers were mellow and savory, and there spinach tortillas don't sound the most appealing- but they are AMAZING!! Reminded me of a chive pancake if you've ever had one of those. The people who own this place were so sweet, they even showed me all of the dessert menu when I didn't know what to order and they helped me pick, and they also helped when I couldn't get the bottle of water open (which was kind of embarrassing but they were so kind and didn't make it weird at all which is random but also important) - The restaurant itself is wonderful and earthy - but not in an intimating way. It reminds me of a house from the 70s with clear natural lighting and flowers & plants. It makes me sad to see it empty - I know that there is a lot of stigma about vegan food - but TRUST me. It will provide you with a homey & warm feeling and leave you happy.

Yelp
SO GRATEFUL this place exists! I have been ordering the 'Huevos con Chorizo' for YEARS. High protein vegan breakfast and their salsa is AMAZING. My saving grace as I'm on the go a lot and this is a convenient and easy way for me to grab a healthy meal throughout the day and not have to worry about cross contamination because everything is vegan! Bonus-The staff is very friendly, too :)
google avatar

Sarah H.

Yelp
I think I could eat here every day and never get sick of this place! Everything is my new favorite thing. I will start with breakfast - I love their vegan eggs. It's my favorite in the breakfast burrito, but I've had them on the platter as well with waffles as well. The flavors and consistency of the "eggs" are fantastic - the best I've had since turning vegan. The huevos rancheros are delicious and the hot Maca coffee is fantastic! It tastes like a sugar cookie, but not overly sweet, just comforting. I also love their chili relleno dinner. It was so flavorful and filled a craving I'd been having for a while. I'm actually super picky with Mexican food flavors but they do a great job! I've eaten the food in the restaurant or gotten it delivered - it holds up well in transit! Now I'm craving another trip to the cafe.
google avatar

Matthew J.

Yelp
It's official - I have eaten at all Grain Cafés locations. I have a real appreciation for the consistency among all of their locations when it comes to the service, the decor/atmosphere and the quality of food! Another great experience! Good quality EVERYTHING! - Waffle Deluxe - Green Energy Smoothie - Mint Lemonade
google avatar

Carl-Erik S.

Yelp
Breakfast Burrito was so good! Flavorful and the hot sauce was bomb. It was ready really quickly and the ice cream shake was delish.
google avatar

John T.

Yelp
Not a positive trend. The last few times we were here we have been disappointed; our latest visit for breakfast not one of the 4 of us was happy with the meal. Not that is was bad, just not good. OK describes it perfectly. None of the dishes were served hot, all were lukewarm which did not help. The potatoes looked like they were scooped out of a warming tray and tasted like what you would get at a mid range hotel breakfast buffet. The Tofu scramble lacked taste, as did the breakfast burrito and Huevos Rancheros. The chocolate chip pancakes was the only meal anyone would have ordered again. Seasoning needs to be re-evaluated, to our tastes. And honestly I don't care if you have to throw the food in a microwave, serve it hot. Our server was helpful and available initially, after receiving our food not seen again til the end of the meal. Having a coffee refill mid meal would have been appreciated. It will be a long while before we return, too many better options.
google avatar

The V.

Yelp
Omg! By far one of the best vegan meals I've had in 2024. I ordered the chilaquiles and the strawberry and chocolate crepe. The chilaquiles were scrumptious. Crunchy, saucy, flavorful, fresh and delicious. It had mushrooms and squash, avocado and sour cream. The crepe was so good as well. I paired it with a chai latte. Additionally, the customer service was excellent. The ladies checked on us often and made sure our table was cleared. The entire establishment was clean.

Joyce G.

Yelp
Food here is amazing! So many choices too. Try their wet burrito with mole sauce!!! Also had their savory crepes and roasted potatoes. Soooo good! We eat here every time we are in the area.
google avatar

Melissa R.

Yelp
yum! yum! yum! perhaps my new fav breakfast place! i had their LA location saved for the longest, but was in redondo for the weekend and when i saw there was one here, it sounded perfect for breakfast i can't even pick a favorite dish! the chilaquiles were some of the best i've had, even though it wasn't spicy but i put some of their bottled hot sauce and it made it. hot sauce was so good, got me picking up and reading the bottle like what's in this lol the waffle platter was very comforting, i don't remember the last time i had a breakfast that came with hash browns, "eggs", and sausage. the waffles weren't heavy and i felt like i could've ate all 4 pieces but we shared heh the fruit platter was also very fresh and sweet! not a fan of apples on a plate like that but regardless. sad part was that they were out of the coconut yogurt so we didn't get to try but it's fine. i also loved that the kitchen was blasting spanish music and it really made the ambiance more homey i'm just more excited to finally go to the LA location and try other things!
google avatar

Mahsa S.

Yelp
This all vegan cafe has such a large menu that there's something for everyone-- and hard to make a decision! They have a simple interior and a small patio outside by the parking lot too. They had breakfast and lunch/dinner food available across a large variety of cuisines. We tried a couple smoothies which were both delicious and refreshing! I got two tacos-- one vegan chicken and one potato. The chicken taco was good but a little dry. The potato and cheese taco was flavorful but a bit greasy and not my favorite. Overall this is a great spot for vegan food in the South Bay!

Nivy R.

Yelp
We come here often, but the food is never consistent. We usually order the breakfast burrito, sometimes it comes loaded, and other times it barely has anything in it. The side of potatoes is always undercooked and bland. We also order the carne asada tacos, and this time they were so salty it tasted like someone dumped an entire salt shaker on them. They serve a good avocado sauce, but if you want an extra side, it's a $2 charge, which feels excessive, especially considering how pricey the food already is. For how inconsistent the quality is, it's hard to justify the cost anymore.
google avatar

Mounisha M.

Yelp
The Grain Cafe is absolutely amazing and the food is so good and flavorful the Grain salad is awesome. I must shout out the BEST employees there her name Mildred she ALWAYS make our visit extra special and she always make sure our food is perfect. The playlist of music she has playing on her shift is always so good you almost always want to get up and dance and forget you are in a restaurant to eat. Lol. She definitely make you feel like a valued customer.
google avatar

Margaret C.

Yelp
I had a burger with gluten free bun. It was good and I really liked the gluten free bun. Part of the patty was really dried out, just a small corner but that made me wonder if it was frozen for a long time before being cooked. I thought that $18 was too expensive for the meal and I usually wouldn't spend that much on a burger, but at least it was pretty good.
google avatar

Erin M.

Yelp
Absolutely fantastic. The service was great, and the food was delicious. My 80 year old meat eating parents liked it and they are not easy to please! They even made a cat in our coffee! Would recommend!
google avatar

Katie J.

Yelp
I hope no one here takes offense as I confess - I REALLY like bacon. It's the one pork something I will eat. So it's something when I say - I AM SO INTO Grain Cafe's tempeh "bacon." How do they get it so savory and smokey?! I had it in their breakfast burrito, which was so flavorful and satisfying. It doesn't look that special, but when you bite into it - wow - good depth of flavors and textures. EXTRA STARS - They bring you a whole bottle of their delicious house hot sauce - it is so tasty but does smack you in the face with spicy (try a little bit first) - They have a tasty house "crema" made of tofu that they give you if you ask (good for us wimps that want to cut our hot sauce with it) - THE PEOPLE! Fau was our waiter and was so welcoming, kind and made sure we enjoyed our meal - Ambiance is so lovely here, like a fancy place to eat. But it's laid back. And bonus that it's not too hipster & crunchy - the clientele while we were there were folks of color - families, elders. Community feel. - They keep you hydrated by giving a full bottle of water and glasses for your table

Yelp
5 Stars since my previous review! Let's taco about the vegan chicharron tacos! I'm trading my go-to vegan mole enchiladas for them. So pleasantly surprised by the chicharron taco's kickass flavor! I've only doordashed this place occasionally due to distance and time. Our go-to dishes have been the mole burrito (sauce is on point!) and mole enchiladas. The mole burritos have an option as to which plant based protein to which I've gone with the burger. In it is chard, cabbage, and bell peppers in a spinach tortilla. Their menu is rich with various options including breakfast items, waffles, pizza, sandwiches, and smoothies. When I last dined in person in 2019, I found the pineapple ginger lemonade to be refreshing and tasty. Also, I remember our server mentioning the chef is from Oaxaca. Talented chef. In addition to the Redondo location, they have other locations in LA. Will be back at the Grain Cafe sooner than later!

Bruno G.

Yelp
Small portion. Potatoes are hardened and uneatable. The long beach store is way better.
google avatar

Michélina M.

Yelp
I highly recommend this restaurant. Excellent food and excellent service. My wife, who is a newly vegan, ordered the waffle with all the fixings and she could not stop raving about the flavorful waffle, which contrarily to what she knew in other restaurants did not leave an oily taste in the mouth. I had the chilaquiles and it was so delicious that I am a little embarrassed to say that I ate everything on my plate. We will be back for more!
google avatar

Emily C.

Yelp
Such a great find while visiting LA. I wish there were places like this near me! We ordered guacamole and hummus which were clearly fresh and so good. The pita bread was hot out of the oven. I also got the two cheese crepe, which is totally plant based and very filling. It was kind of like a crepe burrito. Definitely both healthy and indulgent vegan options here. They serve breakfast all day :). We asked several times if everything was vegan because I have a severe allergy to dairy, and we also changed our minds about getting take out v eating there. Basically, we were difficult customers. The woman at the register was so kind and patient! Great service as well.
google avatar

Amit C.

Yelp
Wow! The best vegan place we've ever been to! Prices are a little high (~$16 per plate, ~$6 drinks), but TOTALLY worth it. When you walk in, the place is decorated so well with wooden theme and plants everywhere. If you ask for tea, it comes in an awesome infuser and cups with lemon etc. We ordered a torta and a strawberry chocolate crepe -- both of which were so delicious we licked the plates clean lol

Yelp
I loved The Grain Cafe when I had it at the Culver City location a couple of years ago, and I was especially happy to discover another location closer to home. I decided to order in, and I did so through GrubHub. With that, I waited for my order to arrive... Now, given that The Grain Cafe has so many good reviews, I will say that my 3 stars are separate from the service I received from my GrubHub delivery. My GrubHub delivery showed up over 90 minutes later (when estimated time was 30-50 minutes) AND I did not receive one of my orders! I did not get my tres leches cake, which was a huge disappointment, as I'd had it back at the Culver City location and loved it. Dramatic as it sounds, it began my love affair for this vegan chain restaurant. GrubHub service was horrible, but again, I'll put that aside and focus on the quality of the food: The breakfast burrito was PHENOMENAL: warm, hearty, and wholesome. It's hard to believe that there's no meat involved at all, as it was that hefty. I was definitely full afterwards. The salsa offered on the side was SPICY, but so good-- it paired perfectly well with the otherwise simple-in-taste burrito. Unfortunately, the mint mocha latte was NOT good. Perhaps it was because I'd ordered it decaf, but the taste was really off, basically burnt. The lid of the cup was not stable, and it would loosen whenever I held the cup to drink, so I had to be careful not to spill hot content all over the place. Definitely a NO for me. Overall, I know that The Grain Cafe is a good place, but I think I just had an off day, not just from the GrubHub delivery. The burrito was good, but the latte was not...and I didn't get to have the tres leches cake. Perhaps I will return to actually dine in and maybe it'll make a difference, so I'm willing to give The Grain Cafe another chance!

Yelp
This location is very spacious and has plenty of seating. I came in with two other people on a Monday night and it was pretty slow. It seemed like they only had one person as a waiter and taking orders at the counter. That made the process very slow and the service was subpar because more tables filled up and there needed to be an extra person. The food however, was pretty good. We started with hummus and guacamole, both very tasty. For my meal I got the wet "chicken" burrito. I'm not a vegetarian at all and I found that this burrito was delicious, I didn't even mind that it wasn't real chicken. My friends enjoyed their meals too which consisted of a falafel plate and a sauteed kale plate. I'd definitely come back again for my vegetarian/vegan friends with no complaints at all.

Yelp
Really sweet lunch spot. Lots of options for vegans and meat eaters so it's perfect spot for a mixed crowd.
google avatar

Tiffany H.

Yelp
Just recently decided to give this place another try after two years. Very pleasantly surprised and satisfied. My husband wanted to try the vegan pancakes, me STILL salty about the ghosts of pancakes past opted for the breakfast burrito. Sorry I didn't take an updated pic because I ate half of his pancake and my burrito!! Price point has gone up, but quality and quantity were worth it.
google avatar

Michael K.

Yelp
Oof. I've visited this place many times over the years. They were always 4 stars in my book. Never anything good--just filling food that barely hit the spot--nothing memorable. But as there prices have increased and their portions have declined--shrinkflation!--I cannot anymore. Yelp
The Grain Cafe is an awesome vegan cafe that has come to Redondo Beach with excellent customer service and tons of gluten free options. At the beginning of Covid, they just had a few tables in front. On a recent visit, they have taken over three parking spaces to do a beautiful patio with astro-turf, umbrellas and planters. The staff here does a great job here managing service outside while they are doing prep work inside. They keep waters filled, plates cleared and food is delivered the hot. The menu is eclectic vegan with a Mexican slant. The best dishes at brunch involve "scrambles." We ordered the gluten free waffle with blackberry spread and the gluten free pancakes with butter and syrup. They were sort of soft and gummy - honestly a bit disappointing. The blackberry spread was outstanding! I would order the gluten free toast, which is among the best that I have ever had, and have them put the blackberry spread on that. The scrambles were so wonderful and the service so great that The Grain Cafe is five stars all the way. The tofu scramble is a great combination of tofu "eggs" sauteed with kale, onions, tempeh bacon, garlic and mushrooms as well as some zucchini. It is served with roasted sweet potato cubes and two pieces of the BEST gluten free toast. This was one of the most comforting dishes that you can imagine - it was a healthful version of a classic combination that satisfied while still feeling food about yourself. The chilaquiles were the best dish at the table - fresh tortilla chips in salsa roja with tofu scramble made with onions and zucchini and topped with a nut based crema and some nut based cheese. It looked and tasted like the real thing, but it was fresh and certainly lighter. We were so impressed that we ordered some of their fresh horchata and a gluten-free coconut blondie. Get that blondie warmed up - it was gooey and wonderful with oodles of coconut. The horchata was well prepared and had good quality cinnamon. We were very impressed by the entire experience, and we look forward to going back. Great spot!
