Despite COVID-19, Northern Michigan Restaurants Broke Records During Summer 2020 | Eater Detroit

"On Mackinac Island the Grand Hotel had a successful summer despite losing convention business, employing some 600 people while reporting no COVID-19 positives; the hotel’s food-and-beverage team saw record numbers overall and adopted enhanced cleaning and sanitizing measures they plan to keep." - Stacey Brugeman

Google
The perfect stay in a boutique hotel! We loved our stay right in the McKinney Square. The service was top notch. The hotel bar was one of the best with great drinks, live music and fast service. Rick’s was nice and again amazing service. Book this now and be ready to walk around the square with so much to do.

This is our second time staying at The Grand Hotel and we will definitely be back! The amenities, rooms, and the ambience are absolutely amazing. All of the staff are so nice and very accommodating. JP and Trey at the Lounge were stand outs during our stay. JP was very personable and made the experience memorable! He made the best old fashioned! We had reservations at Rick’s for brunch and dinner which was incredible - definitely recommend!

Google
Loved my stay at this hotel for a wedding this weekend. The rooms were beautiful, especially the larger room my son and daughter in law had. It was well worth the additional cost having a living area and fridge. My queen room next door was also lovely. The walk in shower was great. Nice water pressure and hot water. Bed and bedding was comfy. Staff was friendly and very helpful. Location was perfect. Loved the free parking so close by. Would love to stay here again.

Google
Beautiful hotel and room. So charming! Beds are comfortable, it was very clean, right in town to walk to everything, and the room service for breakfast was cheaper than anything around town. Staff was so friendly and we loved this place. One of the best hotels we have ever been to.

Google
My best friend from high school was married Oct 5, 2025, this is where we stayed. The hotel was great. Beds were very comfy, shower was small could only fit one person, and could use a little updating. The parking was a disaster for someone traveling from a distance because it is in the middle of the main downtown area and this area is "happening" and THAT was a plus because once you finally find a parking spot you will not want or need to leave, as there are many shops, boutiques, cafes, and taverns for whatever you like. The service was amazing! Overall the only negative is the parking.

Google
Loved everything about this charming, historic hotel! The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The room was comfortable and huge. The bar is unique and great and the location is perfectly located in the heart of historic downtown McKinney. Highly recommend and hope to come back one day!

Google
Even though I arrived very late when getting my room to my surprise the room was nice, clean and. distinguishing. It had a very old vibe but met all the criteria for a great night sleep. I would have enjoyed the bar to stay open to a minimum of 2am but we missed the entertainment. The coffee in the morning was strong the way I prefer and the service was good.

Google
An exceptional experience at both the hotel and restaurant. The service was impeccable, and the breakfast service was outstanding. The hotel’s charming aesthetic added a beautiful, refined touch to our stay.

Yelp
This hotel is breathtaking beautiful, such an elegance feel for the whole hotel. They have an elevator, these stairs would be exhausting if you had to carry all the luggage up.

Yelp
The Grand Hotel is located in the heart of McKinney and is a great spot to stay at. There is free street parking as well as lot located right by it. If you need to, you can pull up your car to the front, unload to check in, and then find parking after but honestly, parking isn't all too far if you want to do that before going in. The staff is super friendly and helpful, adding to the cliche of southern charm. This boutique-style hotel, is super cute from their lobby to their rooms. I stayed with a friend and our king bed was spacious and the amenities were nice. We didn't have a fridge or a closet but did have a wardrobe and desk. Overall, our stay here was great!

Yelp
Very nice boutique hotel. Step back in history when staying at this hotel. It has a three star rating, but I would give it a four or five stars. We had a little issue and the staff handled it very quick and complete. We'll be stay again when we want to do a staycation.

Keleigh S.

Yelp
Never heard anything from the hotel. Obviously they don't care if we ever return. They do not care about the customer's experience or having repeat customers. It's a shame. A response if any kind would have gone a long way.

M A.

Yelp
I'd seen the mixed reviews, but we wanted to stay on the square, so decided to give it a shot. Pros: -Proximity to shops -Friendly front desk staff -Room was decently clean ... That's about where it ends Cons: -No designated parking area or valet for hotel guests. You're on your own finding parking in one of the nearby lots and hauling your bags in. And good luck when it's a busy Saturday. (I've never seen this at any hotel. How do they expect elderly or disabled to easily park their vehicle and carry all of their bags in?) -Rooms are a bit rundown and so many things could EASILY be fixed, like painting over all the faded and chipping paint on the doors and walls, or applying some new grout to the shower. They're not even trying. -No maintenance on site. We had an issue with our toilet flushing and the girl working the front desk had to try to come look at it herself, as maintenance would not be available for a few hours. I hope they're paying her more to help with maintenance issues. I would recommend looking elsewhere, if possible.

Scott B.

Yelp
The accommodation and staff are the best! Friendly and attentive to all your needs. We will be back!

Yelp
I am torn at how many stars to give this hotel. Not a terrible experience so far but I woke up at 3am due to the room being so dang humid and cold. I get it we are in Texas in June and it is humid outside but the entire place smells like mildew. The first thing I noticed upon checkin was there are a bunch of little room air fresheners everywhere. There is a reason for this. A very old boutique hotel in the heart of downtown McKinney. Gorgeous high intricate ceilings. The lobby is very rustic and nicely decorated. There is a weight room but it is a joke as there isn't much in there and it shares a communal deep freezer plus the only vending machine in the joint. No bottled water in the machines? No ice machine. However, the front staff says you can get a bag of ice for the room. Just a bit strange. The reception staff on day two told me that the fire department made them remove the ice machines and bottled water. I hope I misunderstood her but it makes no sense. My family were staying here as well for a wedding. My brother yesterday had a weird housekeeping experience. He returned to his room to find that housekeeping had removed his bedspread and blankets. He went to find a housekeeper who had to call someone to talk to him because the cleaner did not speak English. Another staff member attended to him and my brother questioned where the bedspread and decorative pillows were? They told him he wasn't going to get any bed covering. No reason at all. It was very bizarre. He had to get out a blanket from the drawers for the evening as his room's temperature is freezing and he could not adjust the thermostat. I suspect that the hotel ran out of bed coverings for one of the rooms and used my brother's bed covers? Why else would they do this? He didn't call the reception desk because it was not worth the hassle. My main gripe about this place - and maybe it is due to this small town shutting down so early - is it is impossible to get any room service in the evening. I called at 9pm and they said the kitchen was closed until 11am!!?? What? They have a sign in the room advertising room service and to scan the QR code to view the menu. It is a menu for Rick's the attached restaurant. It looked awesome and all but when can I get anything? My room had this huge corner armoire that is nice looking but a waste of space. No closet to hang anything. A very very leaky iron and no ironing board? The cheap hair dryer did not blow hot air and wouldn't even dry your hands. Nice bar downstairs on the ground floor that had live piano entertainment, quite a busy place Friday and Saturday nights. It was closed before 9 on Sunday. Bummer. It's a great location but I think for the price it is not worth the money.

Yelp
Beautiful decorated rooms. Stayed in room 209 - private entryway plus a bonus library at top next to room. Rooms are cleaned nicely. The wait staff is super friendly, patient and accommodating. Went over and above to make our stay welcoming and enjoyable. We felt wanted - family.

Kate S.

Yelp
Room was clean and customer service was great. You can't beat the location. However, the rooms lack basic amenities such as a mini-fridge, coffee maker, curtains (the room was really bright during the day even with the blinds closed), lack of outlets by the bed (only one outlet to share between two queen beds), etc. There is also no provided parking, valet parking or anyone to help with your bags. The lot next to the hotel was full so we had to park a ten minute walk away.

Karen M.

Yelp
Great king, cold, dark room, well-appointed. In room breakfast dining was great and reasonable-- Eggs Benedict and coffee with fruit. Staff is friendly and helpful. The boutique hotel features charmed us and we will be back. Room had 12 foot ceilings with architectural tin. Comfortable linens. Location is perfect.

Greg H.

Yelp
Our room faced the street. Outside our second floor window were a long string of bright bulb lights that lit the room the entire night on either side of the shades of two windows. We had a terrible time going to sleep. When I told the reception individual about the problem, she shrugged without apologizing and said, "I'll write a note to maintenance." Unprofessional, mildly irritated at our complaint. I'm not there to tell this hotel how to improve. I paid a handsome fee, and if you can't sleep, and if you're not treated well, I would never recommend the "Grand" hotel, what a hypocritical description, to anyone. Yes, they make millions of dollars each year, but they couldn't care less about our experience. Shameful.

Yelp
The Grand Hotel lucked out. They have the perfect location in downtown McKinney, within a few feet of of Landon Winery and Rick's Chophouse, among other places. Downtown is already outstanding, and they are constantly hosting something down there. We went to Tupp's Brewery in the afternoon, and then went to dinner at the Local Yokal, so we opted to FINALLY stay at the Grand Hotel. Why why why did we wait? The place is so gloriously classic. It feels old but updated, if that makes sense. The staff were exceptional, and we felt so welcome right when we arrived. I'm just looking at our calendar to find a time that we can stay again. I encourage you to check it out, enjoy downtown, and then come back to your home away from home!

Yelp
Loved this small, artsy, vintage hotel. Everything was a pleasant surprise, from the service, to the free local parking, to the attached restaurant, to the charming room.

Yelp
From the friendly front desk staff to the art in the stairwells, this old hotel is a home away from home. Great location in downtown McKinney near the excellent harvest restaurant on the historic town square.

Brad J.

Yelp
..... absolutely loved this hotel. From the decor, to the staff, to the cleanliness of the accommodations. No complaints whatsoever. Great location to explore the town and the Restaurant downstairs (Ricks) is top notch. Great Bar as well. The price per night was a real value. We have family in the area and we will definitely be back.

Yelp
This was our first stay. We booked the owner's suite and it was spacious, clean and lovely. The bed slept great and the pillows were remarkable. The thermostat worked perfectly and we were nice and cool. My complaint was arrival and departure. There is no valet. You have just a few minutes to unload and go park your car, that is if the two car parking area is vacant. When we checked in we were not greeted AT ALL! A young girl took our charge card and that was it. Not a word. Not a welcome, enjoy your stay, nothing! Not even a smile. Same thing upon check out. Same young girl, not one word even when we said, "Good Morning!" Management could use a lesson in customer service. A smile and a greeting is a basic thing.

Yelp
We loved the hotel and the historic downtown McKinney. Planning on going back after Covid.

Yelp
Convenient to the entertaining Town Square, this is a good - not great, older hotel. The male front desk staff that checked us in had the personality of a log. Maybe someone should tell him he's the first impression we got! The female front desk lady who came in later was much nicer. The rooms / beds are decent and the ones with larger bathrooms are better. There is one small mirror in the bathroom- none elsewhere. That's it. Good luck with 2 people! The pillows are from when the hotel opened in 1886. Or they're a Walmart $2 special from aisle 17. Bring your own pillow, trust me! The shampoos and soaps are excellent! There are no soda/ water machines that you would want to buy from. I got a soda with an expiration date before Prohibition. I went to the Square at 9:15p.m. to find some drinks and all the shops with water/sodas were closed. Bring a cooler! Trust me! If it wasn't so convenient to the Square, we'd have probably stayed 3-4 miles away for 1/2 the price.

Yelp
We held a Rehearsal Dinner in The Grand Ballroom at The Grand Hotel. Rick's Chophouse catered it. From the very beginning of planning, Claire, their event planner, went out of her way to help us in every stage of the process. We were extremely pleased, all the way from the beginning planning stages through the night of the Rehearsal Dinner. There were several staff helping out at the Rehearsal Dinner. Each and every one of them were extremely courteous and helpful! The food was AMAZING! The bartender did an outstanding job! I would give them a ten star rating if it was available. In addition, several of our guests stayed at The Grand. The rooms were beautiful and clean. The front desk staff was outstanding! This is a GREAT PLACE to hold an event!!!!

Yelp
We had an amazing stay at this hotel! All staff were friendly and welcoming. Service was amazing. Really cool decorations. Room was very clean and comfortable and had everything we needed. Would definitely stay here again.

Yelp
Literally the best hotel ever!! The front desk staff was amazing and they helped us with everything we needed without hesitation. Definitely will be back again

Yelp
Grand Hotel does a lot right, but it did one major thing wrong, so I won't be giving it 5 stars. I stayed 2 nights at Grand for a wedding near McKinney. We arrived on a Friday afternoon. The valet is a bit of a cluster*#@(, you basically leave your vehicle on Louisiana Street and the valet gets it and moves it. So, you're unpacking your vehicle while traffic pulls around you. There is a bit of street parking near the hotel, but the square is a pretty busy area, so I'd advise using the valet. Check in was very quick, no issues there. This is an older hotel, so the rooms aren't uniform size. My room and bathroom was much smaller than other rooms I saw. But, the room was VERY comfortable. It felt like a real bedroom in someone's home, maybe more than any hotel I've stayed in. The bed was very comfortable as was the linens and bedspread. I got 2 very good nights' sleep while I was there. Since the room was on the smaller side, space was at a premium. My room didn't have a work space, which wasn't an issue since I was in town for a wedding, but had I needed to do any work on a laptop I probably would have just sat on the bed. The wifi was spotty as well, so maybe this isn't the best hotel for a work trip. The TV is small (but it's housed in this enormous armoire that seems to take up a quarter of the room by itself. Great piece of furniture but overkill) and didn't get many channels. This was a large disappointment, but you don't go to hotels to watch TV, so I can let this slide. What I can't let slide, and the reason I docked the Grand a star, is the hot water situation. I waited at least 15 minutes on more than one occasion to get hot water in the shower. The day I checked out, I waited so long I finally gave up. I called down to the front desk once to ask about this, and I was advised it should come through after about 5 minutes. I didn't find this to be the case. Additionally, the water temperature was not consistent during showers. I get that it's an old hotel, but that needs to be remedied. The restaurant in the Grand is Rick's, which is an above average steakhouse. There is also a lounge which had live music Friday and Saturday nights. Fun atmosphere and very friendly bartenders. Everyone I encountered at the Grand was great, I would absolutely return for another weekend in McKinney.

Yelp
We stayed here for our anniversary weekend. A little staycation on the square. It's really easy to book a room online, and check there availability. It is a great location on the square, and they have free valet parking for guests. So you don't have to worry about parking and you can get every where easily by walking. The hotel is very nice and has a classic old time feel, while still feeling very well kept. The staff is very friendly and helpful, and helped us get settled and figure out the valet situation. My only problem is that everything leading up to the room felt very luxurious. The room was pretty much a typical hotel room. For such a fancy hotel, and a high price point, I expected something out of the ordinary for our room. Even the bathroom didn't have a luxurious tub or anything grand. There might be different rooms that offer different levels of luxury, but we paid a decent amount for one night, and felt very underwhelmed by the room. Still a great stay, and the hotel and staff were great. I would still recommend, but I think definitely be aware of what you will be getting with your stay.
google avatar

Jeff M.

Yelp
What a historical gem! The Grand is everything you want in a boutique hotel. Service is exceptional and warm. The location is in old downtown McKinney which now features shops, cafes and fine dining at Rick's Chophouse. If h you are ever in McKinney make The Grand Hotel your lodging choice!
google avatar

Christian C.

Yelp
So I want to tell you about my experience here at the hotel this past weekend. First of all there is no parking what so ever for the hotel! You have to try and find it. It is an absolute mess... The "manager" is completely rude, unapproachable and lied to my face actually. I asked that my room and my friends room be near each other and she would take care of it. Well guess what, not only was it not near me, not on the same floor and it was in an entire different part of the hotel with a different elevator. Our room was comfortable but the bathroom was dirty, blankets on the floor, someone had used the bathroom before we arrived and the lighting fixture over the sink was help up with an exposed 2x4 piece of wood. The room was over $200.00 a night! It is not worth the money. Overall, service 1 out of 5, money 1 out of 5 and parking 0 out of 5. After I posted this review the managing director/owner called me and helped me. That's great service.
google avatar

Stephanie A.

Yelp
Stayed here for a wedding. The room cost us $175 for the night, it had no windows, and there was a very moldy smell that made my asthma really bad and broke out in hives, in order to sleep I had to take 2 benedryl every 4 hours and sleep in pants and long sleeve shirt because the blankets made me itchy. I woke up feeling red and puffy with a sore throat. The bathroom was dark and extremely moldy smelling.
google avatar

Lauren F.

Yelp
I never leave reviews but this place is so awful, I just had to. If you like to stay in places that smell as old as they look, then this hotel would be great for you. I wouldn't even mind the price tag if it were CLEAN, but there's literally junk all over the walls and it smells like it hasn't been properly cleaned in 50 years. I would not be surprised to see a cockroach or 2. Also, for being a pricier hotel, there isn't even a bell hop?? The only reason we are staying through the entirety of our reservation is because of the proximity to my brother's house. THIS PLACE IS A DUMP.
google avatar

Jeff W.

Yelp
What the hell is this?? This had a 9 rating on price line. The room STINKS. It smells like wet old mildew badly. Extremely small. Not even a desk or anything to put your suitcase on. Incredibly disappointed. Would never ever stay here again.

Tim R.

Yelp
Hotel is good but you're staying for the location. Price per s reasonable and nice old-time looks/feel. Negative is walls are a little thin.
google avatar

M A.

Yelp
Loved it! We have been telling everyone we know about this amazing old hotel in downtown McKinney. We came across it by happy accident on a road trip earlier this week and loved everything about our stay: the check in, the staff, the room, the robes, and of course the great location. We wandered around that night and found a funky restaurant with live music and the next morning enjoyed walking and shopping around the square. We had a great sleep and wonderful rest and would give this place 10 stars if we could.
google avatar

Yelp
I, too, attended a wedding at the Grand Hotel. Our room was lovely and felt really expensive for being $150 a night! The walls had a very rustic, historic feeling about them and made the whole event seem more intimate. My friend's wedding had about 80 guests which fit quite comfortably into the beautiful ballroom where they held both the service and reception. Cocktails were downstairs and included some yummy apps. The Gilchrist and Soames soaps (which is weird that I'm actually discussing their soap selection in a review, but the Royal Hawaiian had the same stuff and I had a week of the most amazing hair day!) and what appeared to be recently renovated bathrooms. It felt really high luxurious and cosy at the same time, like staying at a friend's house while you are in town. Lovely hotel, great service and great location!

Yelp
We enjoyed one night at this hotel last weekend. It was nice that they honored the Priceline rate I had seen by booking direct with them. The hotel is the perfect location for spending time in downtown McKinney and there's plenty of parking. The decor is western and rustic. We were happy when we walked into the room. The room is large and the bathroom is very updated with nice toiletries. It was nice that they offered a turn down service and put little Texas shaped chocolates and bottled water by our bed. I need to mention that the furniture and bedding is pretty tired. For instance, the handles on the drawers are loose and the armoire was difficult and loud to open/close. The walls are very worn. The paint has a matte finish and it shows a lot of wear and was dirty and cracked. It honestly needs a new coat of paint. They have wooden plantation shutters on the windows. They are pretty but don't provide good shade during the day. It would be difficult to sleep late because of all the sunlight they let in early morning. But overall we were happy and comfortable and would stay again. While walking around the hotel, I saw a beautiful ballroom that I assume they rent out. It would be such a perfect venue for a small wedding reception or anniversary.

Yelp
Fantastic little boutique hotel in downtown McKinney! Our room was on the third floor which is perfect because you are one removed from the fun (and loud!) bars on the first floor but can still walk the beautiful carpet lined stairs right up to your room. Exercise when on vacation is always good ;) The rooms are very comfortably decorated with actual plush decorative pillows and comforters - none of this white standard-issue hotel chain stuff! The bathroom is a nice size with a great walk-in shower. I will be honest though - I kept the fifth star for two reasons... the first being the lack of hot water. I'm not a REALLY long shower taker but I do need some hot water for a good 5-6 minutes. The room service comes from right downstairs/ next door! We ordered at 8:55(two full breakfasts, a pot of coffee and toast) and were served by 9:15. No ridiculous service charges either!!! just the cost of the meal~ and it was a perfect way to start the day. The front desk staff was lovely and always friendly. The second reason I kept the final star is the parking situation. Both nights we had to park quite a distance away from the hotel. My hubby was with me, but if I had been alone that would have caused a concern for me. Overall, a very perfect experience which I would highly rec to anyone that asked!

Yelp
Best hotel experience ever!! Every member of the staff is amazing!! The rooms and service are great and the location is perfect!! Jackie and Annabel went above and beyond to help us!! Highly recommended!!

Yelp
This is a lovely hotel. We've stayed here a few times just to "get away" close to home. The decor in the rooms have an old feel to them but are new and updated. For me, it's all about the bathroom at a hotel. If I don't like the bathroom I won't go back. Although I prefer to soak in the tub (no tubs here) the showers are big and elegant just like the rest of the place. No complaints and we'll definitely go back. The location is perfect for enjoying downtown Mckinney.
google avatar

Lynn P.

Yelp
Booked this hotel because of the wonderful things I read online. I booked what I thought was an upgraded room (the price certainly suggested such). Apparently NOT. The room was small and had NO windows or secondary escape (how is that even LEGAL??) VERY disappointing. Will not stay here again!!
google avatar

Terry P.

Yelp
My husband and I were visiting the Square and we went inside and looked into booking a room for a future date. They have a wonderful cozy bar with live music. I am giving this 5 stars because the nice young lady at the front desk put up with my annoying self asking her if the place was haunted and then was patient with me as I was telling her about the Haunted Stockyards Hotel that I stayed at. I will write a follow up review as we will be staying here in a few weeks in the Honeymoon Suite LOL really,,,, we've been together since 1981 ha-ha.

Yelp
Beautiful hotel! The outside does not do justice at all to this gorgeous old hotel! I can't say enough about the warmth from the staff. So welcoming and kind. The rooms are beautiful and the bed was truly magnificent!!! Perfect location and easy free parking.
google avatar

Yelp
Professional warm welcoming. We have been well cared for here. My brother held the intimate family celebration of his wedding here. We enjoyed attentive service, a great wine list and friendly staff. I will come back and stay here then run around the square to eat and shop. Lovely!

Yelp
We booked a block of rooms at the Grand Hotel for our wedding. The groom was from Australia and the bride was a local to the DFW area. We weren't sure how many guests were going to be able to come over so we booked up the whole hotel and ended up dropping a few of the rooms closer to the event. We really loved the flexibility that the Grand Hotel allowed in their room blocks. They were so easy to work with! Jacque was always willing to answer incessant questions about bookings and constantly make changes. She was really good and so kind! We never had time to make welcome bags for our guests, but the hotel (with the help of the city) put a bag in each of our rooms full of a few goodies and some pamphlets on things to do in McKinney. Nice touch! The two suites are fantastic! The grand suite (the larger of the two suites) has lots of windows and tons of natural light! The only thing missing is a refrigerator. The owner's suite is slightly smaller, but is located in the old wing of the hotel and does have a mini-fridge. Amazing hotel, guests loved it! And we were able to have our rehearsal and brunch at the restaurant attached. That was amazing too!

James B.

Yelp
The location is wonderful, right in historic downtown McKinney. The food was pretty good both served in Rick's Chophouse and from room service. The main reasons for my low score are the service and condition of the hotel. The room smelled musty, common areas were worn and unkept, the room was too hot and HVAC controls required a call to the front desk, housekeeping forgot something everyday: towels, glasses, facial tissues, you name it. We had to call the front desk every day. They were quick to respond, but it shouldn't have been necessary. Upon check out, the person at the front desk asked about our stay. I politely provided feedback. All I got was "I'm sorry". The bill provided at checkout was inaccurate and I received a revised bill by email. I hope they are done charging my credit card as multiple amounts showed up as pending. The stay wasn't terrible, but could have been so much better with a bit of attention to detail.

Yelp
What a super STAYCATION! Wanna get away? Great boutique hotel, perfect for walking around town, enjoying the many eateries and shops. Hotel staff Jose & Becky could not have been more gracious and welcoming. We will be back!

Yelp
What a find. While I was disappointed that the haunted rumors weren't true, I thought this hotel and the experience was two thumbs up. That being said, this downtown area was interesting to say the least. We arrived at the hotel at 9 pm and asked the attendant where we could grab dinner. After a long day, we were ready for a healthy, low-key dinner. We walked down the block to an option that she suggested and were promptly rushed out of the restaurant by an eager employee wanting to close an hour early (disappointing Harvest restaurant!). We ended up around the block at a pizza place. My room was beautiful and extremely comfortable, although I was a little weirded out by no window (what if there was a fire?). Nontheless, it was like a cave and I don't remember the last time I slept so well. I am not sure what other options are in the downtown area (I didn't see any on my run that morning) but I would stay here again if on another work trip.

Yelp
We have stayed here about a half a dozen times. I just do not have anything bad to say about it. The Martini downstairs is done really well. Rooms are clean , unique and very comfortable. Many restaurant choices within walking distance on the square. The only thiing missing is wi-fi. Service has always been wonderful. A small hotel and you can tell it is not a chain.

Yelp
This is an outstanding hotel. The staff are totally honest. We left some items in the hotel. Surprisingly, they not only found them, they returned them to our home. Jacque Day and Annabel are true professionals. played a significant role in this action. There were others as well. Rick Wiles personally visits with those in the Stake House Restaurant in the facility. We had sirloin and buffalo stakes. They were cooked to perfection. What else can I say this one of the best hotel experiences we've had in some time. Thanks to all who made this a fun and enjoyable stay. Compared to others this is at the top of the ranking for us.

Yelp
This is a lovely hotel in a great location. You can walk around in the very vibrant downtown area...i also enjoyed jogging near the hotel...sidewalks in the area take you by some beautiful old homes. The staff at the hotel were very friendly, decor was elegant. I loved the style of my room and the bathroom was amazing (shower only) and spacious. The only thing i didn't like about my room was that there was no window. I was aware there would not be a window when i reserved the room, but the only rooms left were windowless rooms. Make sure you reserve early so you can get a room with a window. The plus side about not having a window, though, was that i slept really soundly. When i woke up, i swore it was 5:30 in the morning because it was so dark in there, but when i looked at my alarm clock, it was nearly 8 am.

Yelp
So, I come to my daughter's lacrosse tournament and looking for a good and different hotel. DO NOT come here! Perhaps one of the worst experiences I've had! NOT a good staff and WORSE experience in the room. Almost left...(if it weren't for it being so late).

Yelp
Not only is this a beautiful, unique, antique hotel, this place has a heart, staff who care and that is unbeatable. No chain hotel will go out of the way to make sure a guest is cared for. I found myself at this hotel at 430 in the morning after spending an emotional and physically draining 24 hrs at a near by hospital with family. I was wore out, just wanted to sleep... i called 3 popular chain hotels an NO ONE would allow such an early check in, im not kidding. I never thought a little boutique hotel would agree to such a thing but i called, got a kind voice on the phone and they told me to come in, they had a room and would be waiting for me.... i dragged myself in, the night shift guy was sooo nice, he ran the hotel looking for the right room for me, got me all checked in and off to bed i went! 5 hrs later i wake up and back to the hospital i go... at noon i realize my car is still parked in front of the hotel which is 3 hr parking.... i call the front desk and again instead of the typical tough shit response the kind lady ran down the parking cop and took care of things for me so i didn't have to worry i could take care of the family.... this hotel took care of me like i was family i truly appreciate all the effort the staff of this hotel made to make sure i was comfortable! They have a beautiful place here and they have a great crew of people running and caring for it. Centrally located in a charming little nook of town, this is a great place to stay and totally worth a stay if you're in town! Thank you Grand Hotel!

Yelp
Hidden gem in McKinney I didn't even know was there. Restored old hotel with nice upgraded showers. Great if you want to make night of it in downtown McKinney.
