This is my favorite coffee shop EVER! I have loved going here for the last five years. I wish I’d discovered the iced lattes sooner! Cuz um YUM! Prices are amazing for the deliciousness compared to others in Chico. 32oz for $6 is a steal! Thanks for keeping prices good and the drinks even better! The atmosphere is great, indoor and outdoor seating is great. The baristas are always friendly and accommodating. I honestly could rave about this place for days!

Great find. Stopped in on a lunch break for some coffee and decompress time. Great coffee and nice setting. Laid back with elbow room where you’re not packed on top of each other. I’ll be back on my next business trip in.

I had a blast there many moons ago. I was able to bring my trusty dog Buddie in with me. Buddies well behaved and is perfectly socialized. He will attack if threatened. Lol he couldn't break a dog's skin ifin he tried. I got a kick outta another owners dog. She put a paper cup down for the dog. I walked up to the owner and said chuckling your dogs nose is stuck in the cup.😂🤣

I've been coming here for ages but I never got around to reviewing the place. It's my go-to for a quiet, low key place to work. Coffee is alright, has some of the best prices in town and tipping isn't thrown in your face like other places. Overall, love it as my personal comfort cafe.

This is another go-to spot on the north side of town. The best service by far. Good fare and reasonable prices. A good meeting spot or a place to get some work done.

The service is always friendly and patient. The atmosphere is clean and bright with bustling energy. Love the many options for seating. One of my favorite spots to gather with friends or just study.

After all these years, this place has remained a constant and holds a special place in my heart.

Ordered a monster blended coffee this morning which is a mix of all three mocha flavors! The strongest coffee I have had in Chico compared to The Human Bean which is my regular coffee spot. The ambiance is calming and relaxing. A great spot to grab coffee after attending the yoga studio located in same parking lot!

Five stars isn't enough! I absolutely love this coffee shop. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warmth and genuine smiles. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting--perfect for catching up with a friend, reading a book, or just enjoying a peaceful moment with a great cup of coffee. Speaking of coffee, wow. Every drink I've tried has been expertly made. You can tell they care about quality--from the rich espresso to the perfectly steamed milk. And the pastries? Fresh, flavorful, and dangerously delicious. The bagel and breakfast sandwich is always a treat. The staff is friendly, attentive, and clearly passionate about what they do. It's the kind of place that makes you feel like a regular, even on your first visit. So "grateful" to have this gem in my neighborhood.

Super cute little coffee shop & bakery. Ended up getting a cold brew with butterscotch and oat milk along with a sausage plain bagel sandwich. Both were very good. :)

Coffee is mid. Maybe a change in baristas or coffee beans? I've had their coffee multiple times (trying to have hope) and it always tastes burnt or just off :/. but their breakfast croissants on the other hand are yummy!!! They add cheese and cream cheese to it. Iconic combo for cheese lovers

Staff was polite and got the food and drinks out quickly. Everything tasted great. Nice environment to sit and chat with a friend over coffee

I love going here. Love the veggie quiches and breakfast burritos. I don't usually get coffee here but I do get the redbull infusions and those are really good ofc. The service is really prompt, and they are usually really fast with everything. Love the vibes, immaculate.

Staff was nice and I loved the cute and cozy atmosphere, but my coffee wasn't great :/ I ordered a double shot cappuccino and I received a burnt bubbly latte. It was so bitter and hard to drink. Not foamy at all either like a cappuccino should be. Kinda bummed cause this place is so close to the park which I love. Maybe some espresso training would be beneficial

Never been disappointed at this place. Always get the jalapeño cheddar bagel with bacon and everything on it and a drink. It's my go to spot. It's locally owned and you can feel the small Chico vibes. Be sure to get yourself a punchcard because you will be back!

We were in town for the second time and we wanted to try something different than chain coffee shops, this place was definitely a good decision. Coffee and pastries were really good and the staff was friendly, cute coffee and gift shop, I would recommend and we would definitely stop whenever we are in Chico again!

For those who dk my reviews, if I have even 1 complaint, small or big, I have decided I CANT give 5 stars. 5 stars is perfect, and if I have a complaint, its not perfect! That being said, this os as close to 5 stars as you can get! I haven't tried any food here yet, but I meet here with my friend to do a Bible study every week! It's got a very cozy warm feel to it. The staff is unbelievably kind and helpful in all ways! They don't HAVE to bring you your drinks, but they do! No one bothers you if you are having a conversation. Quiet enough to work in, and it has a big table in the back to have a big group meeting. The owner is so sweet and knows her regulars orders by heart! I have had their iced decaf americano, and their Cold Brew. That's my small complaint. Nothing stands out. It's not a memorable drink, and for a local coffee shop you have to be able to separate yourself to stand out! I will continue to fo here because they do make you feel like family. It's not always about the food and drinks. Unfortunately what I have had is nothing special, but I want everyone to try this simply because you'll enjoy every second you're in there!

I live down the street and have been a going here semi-regularly for several years, but that ends today. As a customer, it's so disappointing to see them post a sign stating that they don't support the use of masks during a pandemic; it indicates that they are attempting to put profits over the health of their community. As a registered nurse, it feels like a knife to the back, as it will be people like me that have put our own lives at risk to care for the sick and clean up the mess they are adding to by denying science as well as the order from the Governor to wear masks. As for the food, it's all pretty much premade and heated up in a toaster or microwave. The espresso leaves A LOT to be desired, and despite the beautiful espresso machine, the staff seem illtrained to pull a properly extracted shot. They do have that good ice though, and that's what my 1 is for.

Grateful Bean has a great ambiance and decent food/drinks. It's hard to stand out with coffee stuff these days, but they're better than Starbucks (using that as an average comparison). Service is friendly and quick, and there are a good amount of seating options, from cozy two-person tables to couches to large tables for groups.

I like the quality and the prices of this place better than most of the local competition. However, even though the breakfast egg sandwich was somewhat tasty I'm probably not going to buy it again because of the microwaved eggs.

How did I not know about this place?? I mean, I guess I did, but it's a little out of my neighborhood, so I was slacking on checking it out. I met a friend here and there were plenty of tables open around 10am on a Saturday. I got a hot pumpkin spice latte and it was delicious. Not too sweet but just the right amount of pumpkin spice. I also got a vegetarian breakfast burrito which was the perfect size and flavor. The cheese in it was fuegoooooo. This might be my new favorite coffee spot!

Came today because The Grateful Bean continues to be the best coffee spot in town! Ordered a cold brew and latte, both were spot on! Staff is friendly and GRATEFUL! -location is clean. Definitely come give them support during this difficult time!

Usually pretty picky with my coffee, but this place did a pretty decent job. The workers were friendly but kind of slow and not extremely welcoming. Came back the next week and ordered the same drink but the white chocolate powder wasn't mixed all the way in and I instantly gagged when I got a ginormous clump of powder up my straw. Giving a 4 out of 5 because they offer a cash discount, stamp card, and don't enforce masks.

We were organizing an outdoor gathering at DeGarmo Park and needed hot water the last minute. Madison was super helpful and arranged everything smoothly. 5-star for the service

We visited today and had a great experience. The young lady who served us was super sweet and helpful and made us great drinks. Yum. Their Chai tea was super yummy and my iced tea was perfect.

The coffee is good, the food is good, and their prices are great! Would come here again if I was in area. Oh, and workers are chill and nice.

Friendly, chill neighborhood cafe, a good place to sit and meet friends or study. The drinks are yummy, the interior is comfy. There's a large table off in it's own corner that makes a good place to host meetups. I'm only taking one star off because the pastries aren't particularly good. They taste like something you might grab from the pastry box at the grocery store - but cost twice as much. If you're looking for the best pastries, I'd recommend Tin Roof or Upper Crust. But if you're looking for a good cafe on the north end of Chico, Grateful Bean is a good bet.

100% recommend. The foods great, the coffees great, the workers are so friendly, the place is clean and modern, they allow dogs outside and have puppicinos. Think this place tops my favorite bagel coffee place in Chico!

What a great vibe inside, extremely clean and not to mention their tasty coffee drinks. They also have pastries, breakfast sandwiches etc... Not only was the coffee/food really good, but the owner and employees were very kind and RESPECTFUL! I'm not sure why all the hatred toward this business for not "Enforcing" masks. It's absolutely not their job to do so, nor should we expect them to interrogate customers upon entry. I believe in supporting all local businesses that are trying to navigate these difficult times. If I dont like what a business is doing, I dont go...point blank. I will continue to go here and absolutely encourage others to do so!

Subpar coffee, subpar service. They also have a blatant disregard for public health and safety when it comes to the COVID-19 pandemic, so you have to wonder how little regard they must have for other health and safety standards that are meant to protect their employees and customers.

The staff is amazing and the drinks are always consistent. If I'm honest the staff is the number one reason I return. They are always happy to greet you and more than accommodating when you order something odd or out of the ordinary. They always seem joyful and it's refreshing!! Not to mention the coffee shop itself has the sweetest, cleanest atmosphere. They have local art for sale. From necklaces, keychains, postcards, mugs, and wall art it's always fun to see what artists are being featured.

Need new comfy chairs. I love the ambiance and flavor selections. One day they came to PV Staff Parking Lot and made staff free coffee drinks.

We stopped here on our way out of California after attending a wedding. We ordered a medium roast coffee, a cortado, and an almond milk latte. Each drink was efficiently and correctly made and tasted fresh and hot. We were all impressed by the environment. The shop appears very well maintained and we loved the light, bright atmosphere. There was plenty of staff, we were greeted cheerfully and I appreciated the help with my coffee questions. We enjoyed our drinks and would recommend, and return here again. Well done!

I have been seeking our local coffee shops since I moved to the area. There doesn't seem to be much excitement about coffee in this town. What was pleasant surprise, however, was the coffee I ordered was exciting in the sense that I found somewhere I would gladly come back to. While the staff didn't meet my expectations on my first visit, I chalk that up to the COVIDs, masks, and just perhaps an employee having a bad day. Nothing rude, just not helpful as I would have hoped for when I announced it was my first time here. The brewed coffee I ordered was hot and smooth. I was pleased with the flavor and finish! Brewed coffee isn't the easiest to make if you want it to stay right for the entire cup. They did well with this! Coffee didn't get stale as it cooled down in my cup, but kept a full flavor profile and delicious finish the entire cup. This tells me the beans they get are roasted well! It also tells me they adjust their brew method to match the beans' roast! I will return and try their espresso later, but if they have taken such care with their brew coffee, I can only imagine their espresso pull will be great too! (4 of 5 stars until I try more of their offerings)

I found The Grateful Bean sophomore year of college and fell in love with their iced cold brew with half/half and a pump of hazelnut. I stopped going as it was pretty far from downtown, the last time I went in there they were not enforcing the mask mandate at all. I understand that some of the employees may be uncomfortable using their voice but it's quite simple to say "please put on a mask or I kindly ask you to leave." What really irritated me was the whole family and their six children walking around extremely close to me and my mom as we drank our coffee, no masks or any sense of awareness ofc I saw a previous review where they've made it clear what their "stance" on the masks are with a posting on their door. Will never be retuning nor recommending this place. I'm sure all the Trumpkins here in Chico LOVE this place. Their mediocre coffee is not worth the risk of corona.

This is one of my favorite local coffee shops, they can make just about every type of coffee, espressos,frappuccino are truly great coffee beans.

I love the peanut butter cup, blended! I love peanut butter and I haven't seen a coffee+peanut butter frappe before, but this it's just the perfect combination. I would highly recommend this place to any coffee lovers out there, in my opinion, it's way better than Starbucks and Dutch Bros.

This is my favorite coffee place, so much better than Starbuck's or Dutch Bros. I always get the hot mocha with whipped cream, and it is the most delicious blend of coffee and chocolate. It tastes like liquid chocolate. Now, this might not be to everyone's liking (I had a coworker order that, and he couldn't finish it, saying that it was too sweet and too chocolatey - as if that's a thing!) but I love this place and my kids are also addicted to it. They have decaf drinks for younger kids. Well worth the slightly out of the way trip it takes to get there before work. The staff are always really friendly and the inside is warm and inviting. I take my coffee to go, but it seems like it would be a nice place to hang out if you are feeling so inclined.

I love their matcha green tea latte! It's my favorite! I also enjoy their food items and the clean, light, cozy atmosphere.

Seriously awesome service and delicious iced coffees (they use that really cool ice). Did I mention the awesome service?? They actually run the coffee out to you instead of hollering your name across the room. I love coffee but avoid the chain coffee houses at all costs... the Grateful Bean did not disappoint. Absolutely best white mocha I have ever had. I usually get it iced and it's delicious! Everything I've ever gotten here is great and I've been in many, many times. The staff is always very friendly. I just moved and haven't found anything like it. Please open a new Grateful Bean in Fairfield!!!! If you're in Chico I would highly recommend The Grateful Bean over Starbucks or Dutch Bros.

Bad COVID practices. We have new cases of the virus every day, the hospital is filling up and way too many people think they don't have to wear masks. It is disappointing and way too easy to go somewhere that I know cares about working together to keep everyone safe. Sadly, this place brags about not taking COVID-19 precautions seriously so it isn't worth the risk now, or at any time. It's pretty obvious management considers public health practices optional.

I've been here a few times before but I usually go to Starbucks, so I forgot about this place since I live a little outside of the city, but I stopped by today and I gotta say... they have amazing coffee drinks! And pastries! I had the sticky bun and it was so light and flaky, not heavy and dense like other places I've tried. I've had their breakfast sandwiches before too and they too are delicious! The service is also outstanding! Will be coming more often. Definitely worth the drive across town.
