The 19 Best Restaurants In Marylebone - London - The Infatuation

"Marylebone isn’t exactly a boozer-on-every-corner kind of area. But the Grazing Goat is a very good pub/bistro when you’re looking for somewhere that serves drinks and decent food to have with it. Think pie of the day, scotch eggs, and mac and cheese. The atmosphere is relaxed but busy, making it perfect for post-work or pre-dinner, and there’s an alright-sized terrace for when the sun is shining as well." - Team Infatuation

The Meet In The Middle Restaurant Guide: Where To Eat If You’re Coming From Opposite Sides Of Town

"Acton? Realistically, your friend could have popped on over to Siberia and you’d probably see them more often. Of course, they think the same about south London. Enter, The Grazing Goat which is a great pub for any occasion, so it’s really just a bonus that Marylebone is smack bang in the middle of both of you. They serve all the British classics you know and love, like roast lamb, scotch eggs, and a pie of the day. In the winter, you can discuss that crappy date in front of the fire with a whisky, and in the summer, you can discuss that, er, equally crappy date on the patio with a guava martini. Of course, if you’re planning a weekend hang, go for Sunday so you can get down and dirty with the beef rib roast." - heidi lauth beasley

Google
I can’t rate the rooms as we did not stay here. We did eat here a few times and the food was good. We wanted an authentic English ‘pub’ and this had that feel. While it is close to a major tourist area, there appeared to be a fair amount of locals dropping by for a pint after work. Welcoming atmosphere with an adequate beer selection. After all, who visits England and doesn’t get a pint if they are the sort who enjoys an occasional tipple. We stopped here more than once, so that says it all.

Upscale wooden pub, gastropub restaurant and small hotel on top, just off Portman Square, Oxford Street, between Bond Street and Marble Arch tubes.|Place - it has that Guy Ritchie, Lore of the Land feel, aiming for upmarket punters, and is a high end offering. |Service - the staff are professional, warm and will enter into a bit of light banter given half a chance. A positive addition to the place.|Food - multiple offerings from bar snacks through starters to desserts - our party had a Scotch egg, cod cheeks - tasty but a little greasy, and pea soup - generous and full of flavour. The mains were a rump steak - pricey and good. A burger - excellent and at a decent price, and a 1/2 chick in - not the whole half!|Booze - a good cluster of lagers and ales on tap and an 80 page wine menu. Impressive.|Value - This is above medium price for restaurants in general but within the range for this high end area. |Recommended.

Google
Wedding party here last Saturday. Absolutely brilliant venue. Great atmosphere, perfect room. Food was excellent and plenty of it, even down to the hot chocolate cookie and ice cream especially for my grandson. Drinks flowed freely and the service was superb. Staff catered to everyone's requests with a smile. My daughter and now husband had a beautiful wedding and the after party at this venue gave them a complete day to remember. Big thanks to all staff and would highly recommend this venue.

Google
Have to be honest, lovely pub / rooms but not worth the cost. I know it's London but we paid £350 for 1 night. 4 flights of stairs and the one of the warmest rooms ever. A comment was made 10 months ago on here about Air Con. It needs it, small details such as bulbs not working or no blinds in the room so neighbours opposite looking straight into the bathroom. Could be so much better and for the price it should be. Finally we grabbed a quick bit of breakfast and for the service we received they added 15%, sorry but you are now taking the preferable !! Sorry guys you need to do better

Google
Food was quite good. We had a Sunday roast which was very tasty, but the beef was quite tough in parts. The worst part was the 15% service charge. We were simply handed the card machine and got our receipt later, only noticing the charge afterwards. We didn't receive much in the way of service either, and stealthily charged for it.

Google
Didn't stay at the hotel so only rating based off the restaurant / pub. Love the wide open plan layout with an airy feel. The food is always amazing, especially the steaks. Great drinks menu and friendly staff providing the right amount of attention and privacy.

Raymond Scott

Google
Visiting from Texas and had 2 meals here and we should have had more! Everything was amazing, including the service, but the Sunday Roast was extraordinary so please make sure to get reservations. We had the roasted lamb and the roasted chicken and we literally cleaned both plates and would happily do it again!

Google
I would have given a 5* had it not been for the rude waiter/barman who ruined a lovely day. We came in as a party of 7 today and spent almost £600 for lunch. The female server's were lovely, attentive and hospitable, the steak I had was delicious, however the male waiter upstars was just plain rude. After our meal we bought another round of drinks, literally less than 5 minutes after receiving our drinks he comes marching over and says "our next booking is waiting downstairs, you need to pay up and leave"? Excuse me?! Who does he think he is speaking to like that? If you don't have enough time to offer the table a round of drinks then don't do it, politely explain the situation and we will pay and leave. Being rude and condescending has now turned a 5* experience into a mediocre one in which I will never return or recommend the place to anyone. If he doesn't know how to converse with people, he shouldn't be front of house. Ridiculous.

Yelp
Walked in off the street while sight seeing in London. My wife loves goats so I channeled her love and pick this as my lunch spot on a Saturday. Make a reservation, it's small but awesome. Started with the sourdough bread w truffle butter and went for the baked pasta dish. The gentleman who created was gracious enough to find me a spot for 1. Food, atmosphere and service, they hit on all 3!

Yelp
A charming little spot near our hotel. Not your regular pub haha Ate lunch here. I got a simple Shepherd's pie, the minced meat, mashed potatoes covered by the warm pastry was really good. Finished it off with a pint of beer

Yelp
Great atmosphere and vibe in a great neighborhood that is up there with my favorite areas of London Food was good but not over the top. Drinks were also good as well, a solid spot to visit in the area but not necessarily a destination place Food: Scotch egg 5/5: Beat scotch egg I've had by a mile, can be a real British treat if done well. Egg was perfectly cooked and the beef coating was cooked well and had great flavor profile Brushetta 4/5: Great brushetta appetizer Thick bacon cut 3.5/ 5: nice cut of bacon with thin cut chips and sides. Nice bacon slab but the pieces without fat were a little dry as I got closer to the bone Fish and chips 3.5/5: huge portion and good fish and chips that are better than others but not the best I've had

Yelp
A nice, bright fun pub with lots of tables for meals in the Marylebone area of London just north of Marble Arch and Oxford Street. We had typical pub food but it was a notch above most food in pubs. The waitpersons were all very friendly and helpful.

Yelp
My family and I popped in for breakfast during our London vacation, and we were pleasantly surprised. Over the course of our vacation, we tried Bloody Mary's at several breakfast spots, but the Grazing Goat had the best one! We also each ordered a Three Cheese and Ham Toastie, which I greatly recommend. It was a generous size and very flavorful! The restaurant was an intimate space, and the staff was friendly. Our food arrived quickly.

Yelp
Very delicious food in a lively atmosphere with attentive friendly service. The fish and chips were awesome. The portion is massive and the fish is cooked perfectly-the batter is light and crispy and not at all greasy. The baton-style chips were also good. Shepherd's Pie was devoured. The half chicken with roasted garlic was well-liked and came with bone marrow. The white bean hummus was terrific- we ordered a second portion after we finished our mains already! Go here if you want a lively pub atmosphere with excellent food! I'd definitely come back.

Yelp
A smaller restaurant with a modest menu the Grazing goat is a delightful little lunch spot with a more delightful staff. I met a couple of-worker here for a quick lunch while in London on some business. My colleague was delayed about 45 min but the staff remained attentive even as I took up a table much longer than expected. The food was also very good though there are not a lot of options on the menu, they balance well between light options and full lunch/dinner options. Th price was fair and neither myself or my colleague were able to finish the generous portion we were given.

Yelp
Pretty good. Standard pub fare. The table bread was notable. Enjoyed a delicious cocktail.

Yelp
What a fun and great place. We sat next to the fireplace, which was lovely. The fish and chips is fabulous. And the red wine that I have was excellent. It was the last one on the list by the glass. The scotch eggs were excellent.

D R.

Yelp
Better, much better than pub food. From the chalk stream trout to the Shetland mussels, this is an epic pub. Loved the wine list as well. The staff is gracious and very accommodating. If you are in the Mayfair area looking for a pub to call home, this is the one. Food and wine and beer are exceptional, and beyond the ordinary.
google avatar

Yelp
Perfect place for a Sunday roast. The cocktails (especially the espresso martinis) are also really nice. Service was nicely paced.
google avatar

Yelp
The Grazing Goat has some of the best fish and chips in London. The Shepard's pie is superb too. For a traditional London pub meal this is one of the finest. Easy to find off New QuebecStreet in Marylebone. The selections of food and beverage are certain to meet the needs of the most discerning patrons. Need a place to stay. They have rooms available as well.

Yelp
Helpful tip right off the bat: make reservations. I don't think they take kindly to walk-ins here. At any rate, I got mine so we were seated by the manager, a pleasant fellow from Italy. I think everyone here might be from Italy as our waiter and server are from there as well. This is a fabulous gastropub off of a side street and a bit away from the main strip and Portman Square. Very clean, organized and well staffed. If I had to describe this place I'd say it's a higher end pub with some fine dining options. Me and my bud ordered the following: - steak pie with mash and guiness sauce: superb. Very flavorful and the crust was flaky as it should be. Lots of meat! - dry aged beef tartare: another awesome dish. Served with a sourdough slice, this is like a nice meal in itself. - Turbot: this was the special of day. Very moist and the zesty accompanying sauce was perfect. - Chili salt squid: this and the tartare were the best dishes of the night. The squid wasn't mushy or too tough. Just right. Came with a chili and lime dipping sauce. So good. Finished up with a sticky toffee pudding. Washed everything down with a pint of guiness. This to me was a quintessential dinner on a night out in London. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Great food, with excellent service went back twice in two days on our short visit to London. Loved it both times.
google avatar

Yelp
Total gastopub. With an upscaled menu and pub bar, you are going to be sitting down and eating more than drinking a few with friends. My roasted cod was delicious and perfect with the beans and chorizo. Definitely a repeat dish. Servers were very nice but they are busy and work the whole floor.
google avatar

Yelp
It's always good to turn off the Main Street as you never know what you may find. Such a fun little pub that serves alcohol and food. I had the prime rib dinner with Yorkshire pudding gravy and horseradish. It was excellent and cooked to your request. Their cosmopolitan was springy and fresh. The service was friendly and attentive. The atmosphere is relaxed and casual. Prices are reasonable for the quality you get. Bathrooms (water closet) available downstairs. A nice little jaunt.

Yelp
Wonderful food and incredibly attentive service in this classic London bistro. Delicious appetizers including mussels that had a Mediterranean flare, a hearty buratta with lots of flavor and a well crafted scotch egg. One of these best fish and chips across the British isles. Pork was delicious and generous!
google avatar

Yelp
Great breakfast spot! We had such a hard time while on vacation finding a good size breakfast that would keep us full for all our walking and adventuring, and that included potatoes! Found this place nearby our flat on Open Table and made reservations. It was only us and one family when we got there so not sure we needed a reservation. Service was fast and friendly, food was great! Best eggs I've had, actual American bacon and great ripe avocado. I normally don't care for the morning beans but the ones here were more a specialty sort with amazing seasoning and I ate them all. Overall our whole family loved everything on their plate and we highly recommend.

Yelp
We had a terrific meal at the grazing goat. Good food, fast service, and a really neat atmosphere. It's a bit pricey, even for London, but I think worth the money. Recommended!
google avatar

Yelp
A great spot for delicious comforting pub food and a beer. The steak pie was so filling and yummy and the accompanying mash and gravy was the perfect side. Meet friends here for a drink and a good time, you won't be disappointed.
google avatar

Lisa G.

Yelp
Came for breakfast. Very cute place, attentive service. Good food. Why not 5 stars? It was a little bit far from my hotel and for the quality of service and food it's not worth the hike. But if you do live close by then absolutely yes.
google avatar

Yelp
Very good food so-so service My second visit; all the food was memorable and prepared with care. Service was chaos, but the place was packed. Much better than any green king pub. Scotch egg Duck Liver Parfait Fried Courgette Flower Steak Pie, Mash and Guinness Sauce Pannacotta with Fresh Raspberries

Yelp
We were looking for some fish and chips before we went home but the kiddo didn't want bangers and mash so we searched around and found The Grazing Goat. If you're a beer person, go for one of the casked beers, which are also a great accompaniment to the beef (which is excellent but make sure to get a sauce or add some salt). The burger is incredible and the fish and chips delivered on every level, the mashy peas were a little different than standard (chunkier and less uniform) but I like them better this way. All and all a great experience.

Lucas P.

Yelp
Had the best chips of my life here. Food is also great and the service is attentive. Definitely recommend if in the area.

Ruben H.

Yelp
Wonderful pub at a great location blocks away from Hyde Park. Don't forget to order the sheppard's pie.

Susan H.

Yelp
This was our last night in London and we were looking for some great food to end our trip. What a disappointment! Based on the positive reviews, we made a reservation to check out this gastro pub that was around the corner from our hotel. Even our the hotel concierge had said this place was more gastro than pub. Maybe we came on a bad night.... We began with Artichoke Fritters and Chile Salt Squid. The Artichoke Fritters were fried oval shaped balls of something that tasted like an artichoke paste with bits of artichoke that you could barely taste. I would have preferred the squid to be a bit crispier which is served with a sweet Chile sauce. Nothing great...but okay. My tastebuds were set on the steak pie which I read about in a review. Unfortunately, it was not on the menu for the evening. The chicken and bacon pie didn't sound interesting so I chose Fish and Chips. I had some great fish and chips at The Mayfair Chippy earlier in week. This fish was definitely not like anything I had at the Mayfair Chippy. I had maybe 2 or 3 bites and decided it wasn't worth the calories. Maybe I don't like Haddock. The batter on the fish was not seasoned and very bland tasting. Hubby ordered the chicken and bacon pie with a side of mashed potatoes. The pie is served with a side of gravy. I could barely taste the bacon...but the gravy made the pie. My friend had the Angus flat iron steak. Although it was cooked as requested, it looked tough. I saw her trying to saw though the meat. She didn't recall if they gave her a steak knife. She said is was okay. Last, but not least, we ordered food for take away. Our server informed us they had run out of take away containers at lunch. He said he would check with the kitchen and see if they could wrap up something in foil. Seriously??? Overall, none of us were impressed with our meals so we skipped dessert.

Yelp
Fantastic. Had lunch here and shared about five plates. Gnocchi, risotto, tartar and duck salad. It was excellent. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Fantastic place!! We walked in and they were able to squeeze us in no problem! Service was awesome, the manger was cool and the food was amazing! Fish was not over greasy, fries were perfect and the pee's was something new for me, but was really delicious!! Thank for taking care of us on our visit. I would definitely come back!! Thank you!

Joe M.

Yelp
We had dinner here and drinks a few nights later. The food is among the best in this neighborhood. Service is excellent and the food is imaginative and fresh.

Kelli H.

Yelp
The fish and chips are HUGE and really good. They have a nice beer and cocktail selection too. Our server was the sweetest. She made the trip memorable for us
google avatar

Yelp
Lovely environment for Sunday lunch. Roasts were generous and nicely done, including all the usual British trimmings. Very quaint local pub downstairs and restaurant upstairs. Wines were quite nice and reasonable. Service was better than average and extremely friendly. Would like to place the Grazing Goat into our regular rotation.

Tim O.

Yelp
Enjoyed wonderful fish and chips at this restaurant- light and crispy, not greasy at all. The house burger was quite flavorful. Really nice vibe for a casual night out. Friendly, fast service. Dining on two floors, upstairs will be a bit quieter.
google avatar

Brian G.

Yelp
To call it a gastropub is a bit of a stretch but it is a pub definitely worthy of visiting and the food is definitely good. There is a full bar, and actual pub on the ground floor and a restaurant (note NOT white table, more casual) upstairs where you can make reservations. The service was very good, decent ambience and the sound level just about right and quiet enough to have a business meeting (as I just did) I recommend as a decent place to have a business meeting if no other better options - this is a good one. Fairly busy, both conversants can hear each other but no one can eavesdrop. We got on with our business for 3 hours while enjoying a decent lunch and a bottle of wine. We both had steaks with green peppercorn sauce (mine is better at home!), chips and Brussels sprouts plus a celeriac soup. All in all 4 stars - including adding a star for the ability to relax and have a 3 hour meeting without harassment. 1 thumb up! Review #97 2019

Rob B.

Yelp
Just loved this place! Our first visit was a lunch that I booked on line. Despite booking the wrong day, they made space for us for lunch! Thanks! We had an amazing beef pie in Stout gravy. The rack of lamb also wonderfully cooked but needed seasoning. We came back for dinner and it was just as good and the upstairs dining is beautiful. I think this is better for meat than fish. Don't skimp get dessert!
google avatar

Alan W.

Yelp
Great place to stop in for a drink and bite to eat and gets busy in the evening. Even though I was alone, they sat me at a table downstairs next to the bar and were very attentive. I ordered the chorizo scotch egg, which wasn't my favorite, but the rest of the meal was outstanding. I came in for the steak pie and mash which was one of the better pies I have had in London. The meat was super tender but what put it over the edge was the amazingly flaky crust. I also got the apple pie which was also very good, but by that point, with a few pints in me, I was a bit overstuffed, definitely worth the visit and outside of the crazy hustle and bustle, which is a nice treat.
google avatar

Jenn K.

Yelp
Lovely spot serving traditional British fare. We sat upstairs, downstairs the crowd and the bar had a good vibe
google avatar

Matthew B.

Yelp
We visited London for a week and this was, by far, our favorite spot for breakfast. The Cubitt English Breakfast was perfectly prepared, beautifully presented, and incredibly satisfying. In addition to the food, the staff was lovely and the ambiance was so warm and inviting. We loved everything about the Grazing Goat. We will be back for sure.
google avatar

Anita C.

Yelp
Delicious food! Lots of variety! Not pricey at all considering what you get. Very friendly and attending staff. Also very fast service. Will definitely go back :)
google avatar

Chris N.

Yelp
Service was great and our table was ready promptly at arrival with our reservation. Maybe we hit it on a wrong day but they were out of both fish and chips and their daily specials and it was only 7pm. I had the half chicken plate and it was definitely filling. Not extraordinary flavors but a decent meal. Colleagues had burgers and wolfed them right down. The menu isn't that expansive but there's enough options that everyone in your party will find something.
google avatar

Raija T.

Yelp
Great service and food was amazing. Very accommodating to my 2 year old. Highly recommend.

Yelp
After careful research, we decided to take a chance on getting dinner at this location. Even though we know London is a big place with plenty of options, we found this particular restaurant appealing to us. Especially because of their Sunday roasts. When we arrived, the hostess asked us if we had a reservation. We didn't, but she was kind enough to get us a table rather quickly. Once we were seated we got menus immediately. Notably, it took a while for our server to make first contact (which he acknowledged and apologized for). With a recommendation on which Sunday roast is best we placed our orders. The first thing we got pretty quickly was our cocktails (the Posh Goat). The cocktails were very good! Maybe 10 minutes after, we got our appetizer of Cornish mussels. Those were good, although a few didn't open. Then, maybe 10 minutes after that, we got both our order of rib beef and pork Sunday roast main dishes. The pork, with the apple sauce, was delicious, but the pork skin was very tough to chew (I had to leave most of it). The rib beef sauce was great, but the beef itself was a bit dry. We ordered a dessert, the Bramely apple pie that was very delicious. Overall, great service and cocktails. Just good enough on the Sunday roast.
google avatar

Tory M.

Yelp
Slow service but terrific food and friendly staff. The drinks may be a little too good. And the desserts were superb. Kinda loud, but that's ok. Still had a good time!

Jan L.

Yelp
Amazing gastropub. Love the fish and chips and burgers. Great spot to go to with friends and family.
google avatar

Cynthia R.

Yelp
Had a lovely lunch here, nice server, good food, comfortable atmosphere, and right near my hotel! Had a glass of wine and pate for a late lunch. I highly recommend for a casual meal with nice people.

Robin S.

Yelp
Food was awful and late. Service slow a d literally only one in the place. Avoid Again don't bother at this restaurant as there are better and less expensive
google avatar

Formicas F.

Yelp
Good beers, great casual ambiance, good pub food. Fish and chips were light and flakey.

Allison T.

Yelp
Fantastic place. Great spot for pub food. Fast and friendly service as well as delicious food.

Yelp
This was the restaurant we chose for dinner our first night in London due to good reviews and a fierce craving for fish and chips. We were dismayed upon arriving when asked for a reservation and didn't have one. Luckily it was still early in the evening and we didn't have to wait long for a table. Our waitress provided excellent service, despite having numerous tables to attend to. It took a little while to receive our drinks from the bartenders, but the food came fairly quickly and was absolutely delicious. I enjoyed my fish and chips with mashed potatoes and French fries, while my fiancé enjoyed the lamb. I would have loved to give this establishment 5 stars, but my god was the floor manager rude! Not only to us as customers, but his staff as well. We were talking to our waitress after we had paid our check about different things to do in London, and he basically pushed her out of the way to start clearing our table. It was appalling!

Yelp
Easy to book great staff and most amazing burger and fish and chips. Won't disappoint!!
