Best Restaurants in Dripping Springs, Texas | Eater Austin

"At this Dripping Springs bakery, enjoy British Texan baked goods, which diners can peep at from behind the numerous glassed-in bakery counters. The spot serves up savory pies and rolls, Scotch eggs, and soups that change daily (“leek and tattie,” or creamy leek and potato soup, is a favorite to get when it’s on the lineup). On the sweeter side, find sticky toffee pudding, bakewell tarts topped with sticky and sweet jam, Meyer lemon bars, an incredible chocolate brownie, and a daily rotation of cookies." - Erin Russell

Google
I was so pleasantly surprised to find this little gem tucked away in the middle of Dripping Springs! It was completely unexpected, but the food truly blew me away. The meat pies were incredible — we tried the steak pie, sausage roll, and chicken pot pie, and each one was absolutely delicious. They also offer a great selection of British snacks, candies, and fresh bakery items — everything tasted authentic and freshly made. I really enjoyed my visit and can’t wait to go back again!

Google
Everything was delicious & perfectly baked. Steak pie, lamb roll sausage roll, Scotch egg, financier, millionaire shortbread, we loved all of it. Probably the best pastry I’ve had in Austin. Can’t wait to come back 😋

Google
Surprised to find this shop in a small town in Texas. Had to visit. The smell of spice and baked goods hits you as soon as you walk in. The employees greet you right away and are friendly. I got the Steak Pie and Jalapeno Cheddar roll. I thought the Steak Pie was better, but both are good Highly recommend this bakery for a unique experience and menu

Google
Decided to drive the 40 mins to try this place out. I really love British hand pies and am a connoisseur of sorts. I purchased a few things to try. Started with the classic sausage roll. Great flavor but quite salty. I’m not sensitive to salt but paired with an ice cold beer to balance this out would be perfect. I then tried the steak pie and I would honestly say go there for that as a priority. Wonderful flavor, tender steak pieces and succulent gravy; I wish they made this into a mini individual round pie as it’s just perfect. Pair the filling with mashed potatoes; game over. Also got the chicken pot pie and potato pie which were solid and the raspberry blueberry tart which was good without being too sweet. I’m going to dream about that steak hand pie though…

Google
First time here so I tried the plum financier and a sausage roll. Both tasted very good. A little disappointed I didn't hear anyone with a British accent though. 😉😄 This is one of those small get in, order, get out shops and had small selections.

Google
The pies are solid here! Our favorites are the lamb roll, chicken curry pie and potato pie. The pies are a bit on the expensive but they are tasty and filling, making them worth it. The potato pie is cheesy and so indulgent. The chicken curry has a nice spice mix but not spicy at all with nice chunks of chicken.

Google
Amazed and pleasantly surprised to find this shop. Fabulous Sausage rolls (jalapeno especially was awesome) but so was the Millionaire Shortbread. Best outside the UK.

Keirsten H.

Google
I make my way here every time I'm in the area and they're always super friendly and patient when I have 20 questions. Got a steak pie, potato and onion pie, spicy lamb roll and 2 toffee and chocolate chip cookies. Everything is always good.

Yelp
We got a box of assorted desserts to take to a family gathering and it was the highlight of desserts! Standouts included the toffee brownie (gluten-free too, but don't tell anyone), lemon bars, millionaire shortbread and these chocolate/toffee/sea salt cookies. Everyone was raving about how delicious they were and disappointed that we didn't have more.

Yelp
Cute lunch place with fantastic handpies, soups and desserts. Nice place to sit. Multiple tables inside. A little table outside.

Yelp
Delicious pastries! Ordered a variety and they were all very good. I really liked how the pastries are served at a perfect temperature. The sausage roll was my favorite. My husband is English and he said this place was legit. They also have a good variety of English snacks and chips available at the store.

Yelp
I saw the sign and made a quick pit stop not know exactly what to expect but hoping for either a steak pie or sausage roll. I hit the jackpot with the lamb sausage roll which was incredible! Perfectly flaky crust and one of the best meat fillings I've tasted. The staff were super friendly and helpful with choices for someone other visitors who were struggling with decisions. The restaurant had seating and some great decorations to remind you of the UK. The joys of work travel truly is finding spots like The Great British Baking Company! So good!

Yelp
Very special business in the middle of central Texas. Texas never fails to surprise me the kind of businesses it offers - in an un suspected manner. This bakery offers a bunch of savory flaky pastry pies with meat, cheese and even curry filling. We tried a bunch of flavors: slow roast beef, chicken curry, breakfast (cheese, sausage and egg), ham and cheese pies, scotch egg, sausage roll, etc. The pastries are super flaky, and flavorful. I love the filling, they come out hot and crispy with an even hotter filling. bf is obsessed with this place and asked to come back the next day lol. My personal favorite is the chicken curry and ham/cheese pie. The sausage rolls are a little too oily for my personal liking but seem like they are the top seller here.
google avatar

Yelp
Great bakery. The dough is ultra delicious. It's super fresh, soft and crispy at the same time. Not sure how they make the bread but it's so gooood.
google avatar

Jodi M.

Yelp
Cute place. Many different varieties of pastries and other delights. Worth a trip to grab some treats then walk down cute little Mercer ave and visit the local shops! Easy to park, right off 290 and RR12. Come out and support local!

Yelp
Fantastic meat pies! Friendly staff and baker- we sampled just about every hand pie and every one of them was delicious - our favorites were the chicken curry and the potato, bacon and cheddar.
google avatar

Gabrielle G.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious. Stumbled across this place while walking around Mercer street. I got the lavender lemon blondie and sea salt chocolate chip cookie. Both were amazing and so flavorful. Some of the best pastries I've had in a while and they are all very fresh tasting.
google avatar

Yelp
Went to this quaint restaurant while passing through Dripping Springs, tried a variety of pastries and loved all of them. I especially enjoyed the sausage rolls and chicken curry slice. Prices are reasonable here too. They have a little sit down area where you can eat.

Yelp
Ok this was one of those places I found on Yelp, sorted by highest rated in the area, and they looked really good so I stopped in for a visit. I was very impressed and pleased here and I highly recommend. They have sweet and savory pies and eats here. I think my favorite was the Chicken Pot Pie. The jalapeno sausage roll was solid. The Broccoli Cheese was good. The Ham n Cheese was pretty good too. Yeah we sampled a lot. The pastry dough was very flavorful, and good crust, and that means you can try to carb it down all you want by not eating the crusts but it's just too good to pass up. Just do it, and walk extra after dinner. But what blew me away here was the Meyer Lemon Bar. Oh wow - so tart, some sweet, and very tasty. It's exactly what you want from a lemon bar because you love lemons. That Million Dollar Bar was very good too - yes you must get that. So many other really good sweets too but I will save them for a later visit. They offer free bottled water - which was cold - to drink and that was just a delight because Texas tap water is horrid. The girl helping me was very attentive and helpful. She gave me feedback on everything I asked about. They also have a great selection of products imported from Europe and England. I just wish they offered up some wonderful homemade clotted cream and tea - which usually comes with biscuits or scones w/ jam - I had that in England and it was so very good. One of the more delightful places I visited in Dripping Springs, and I bought extra for a local friend who said she loves their Chicken Pot Pie Pastry. I will definitely be back as I plan to make this a regular place to visit when I make it out to DP to get away.

Yelp
I stopped by this place on my way home to browse and pick up food. I got the chicken pot pie and it was delicious! The crust was flaky, soft and quite tasty. The inside was as stated...chicken pot pie . The staff is super friendly and helpful. The bonus is that they offer complimentary bottled water!!!! This is a small shop serving and selling great British food, pastries, desserts, and snacks. It's well worth stopping by.

Yelp
Where do I even begin!! This place and their food is the bee's knees!!!Everything was bloody good! Last Sunday after watching "The Gentleman" on Netflix, we craved some real British food. After doing some searching, "The Great British Baking Company" showed up with the highest ratings so we decided to check them out. Unfortunately, they are located in Dripping Springs so that means it's a 45 minute-or-so drive for us (from Round Rock), but hey I (or shall I say my husband) will drive for food (for me ). We secured their food online, and got there almost at their closing time (they close at 3PM on Sunday). We got an order confirmation and notification that our food was ready to pick up while we were on the way. When we got to the restaurant, our food was packed and ready for us, but we weren't ready since they had so many things at the displays that triggered my additional appetite so we picked out some more stuff. We had to make sure we had enough food to make it a worthwhile trip! This place is on a side street off of the highway and it's such a quaint little shop with 5 tables. They have hand pies/pastries, soups, coffees/teas, cakes & sweets, and also some British snacks & goods. Oh they also do catering services as well. When the guy (or the owner) with British accent who checked us out knew that we drove from Round Rock to Dripping Springs to try their stuff, he got us plenty more of other hand pies and sweets to try which was really nice of him! Love their hand pies: - SPICED LAMB SAUSAGE ROLL: So delicious with perfect amount of spices and juicy homemade sausage. - HOMEMADE CHICKEN CURRY: It's not your typical curry. The aroma of their curry gives you a TEX-MEX spice but the taste was more like a mild tomato-based curry with super tender & light smoky chicken. - HAM & MUENSTER: Meaty & cheesy good. - JALAPEÑO & CHEDDAR SAUSAGE ROLL: It has got some kick and their homemade sausage was juicy and so good. - STEAK SLICED: Rich, delicious , a lot of meat, and gives you that Sunday homemade pot roast vibe. - CHICKEN POT PIE: Actually my favorite as it's so good a lot better that typical American pot pies. It had the perfect creaminess, not too salty, and the chicken was super tender and scrumptious!! - SWEETS: we also got their cookies which were delicious, especially the MILK CHOCOLATE TOFFEE SEA SALT COOKIE, SMORE CARAMELLOW DELIGHT, FRENCH APPLE TART (it was divine ), and last but not least STICKY TOFFEE PUDDING (it's a MUST!! It was so delish I couldn't stop eating. I will have to get my own next time instead of sharing one with my husband because it's that good)! By the way, their pies didn't leave us with weird taste in our mouth (like oily & fatty feeling) like most of pastries/pies we ever tried which is a major plus! All in all, you NEED TO make time to check them out. There are other things to do while you're in Dripping Springs like Deep Eddy Vodka Tasting Room, winery, and Golf courses as well so make a trip and thank me later!

Yelp
Stopped in here real quick to get a bite before my hair appointment. I got 2 jalapeños sausage kolache and a lemon bar. Very good! Love the spices in the kolache. Very fresh and hot. Delicious.

Yelp
Hidden gem! Great pastries, chicken pot pies, snacks and drinks from England and more! Best little bakery in town, coffee, great customer service. Thank you!

Yelp
We tried the Great British Baking Company in Dripping Springs. Great coffee and sausage roll. Very pleasant and friendly atmosphere.

Yelp
What a cute spot. Such lovely staff and nice pastries/hand pies. Lamb sausage roll was deliciously flaky and rich. Bakewell tart and lemon bar were both sublime, as were the teas. You must visit - esp if you grew up on English treats

Andrew A.

Yelp
Yeah, go here! They have a little shop where you can buy some classic British snacks and treats as well! I got several items here, cheddar broccoli pie, ham and Muenster, classic sausage roll, chicken curry, chicken pot pie! All, FANTASTIC. You can tell love was poured into making these because the crusts are SO light and flaky. The sausage roll was probably my favorite, it was extremely seasoned, like a Sunday roast, you get hints of (maybe) juniper? Then the chicken pot pie, and everything else was awesome. I am only bummed that they have run out of the scotch egg two days in a row. But hey, at least I got to eat their food on back to back days!

Dr. Erin F.

Yelp
Lovely little spot where you can pick up some of your favorite foods from the UK. People working there are friendly and happy. Nice little seating area without a lot of noise from a tv or radio. A big plus for me. Their breakfast pie is gorgeous and they have some lovely sweet baked goods too. The only disappointment for me was that their sausage rolls did not have English sausage. But, I could see others liking them well enough. Thanks!

Maddie K.

Yelp
I'm new to the area and decided to stop in and check things out. Friendly service and the treats are to die for. I will be coming back here for sure!

Yelp
I've now ventured beyond the original sausage roll to various other offerings. I now can't decide if OG sausage roll or the Texas-inspired cheese&jalapeno sausage roll is my favorite. I guess one is for my childhood self, the other is for my current texas-living self. The scotch egg is also a great option - love that the egg is perfectly hardboiled, and judging by the taste and color of the yolk, the eggs seem to be of good quality. The other savory handpies are also just wonderfully convenient lunches, though I've yet to try too many of them yet. I've also really enjoyed all the sweets that I've tried. When I moved to the UK from Hong Kong, I was very disappointed in the food in general with two exceptions: pastry-snack food (e.g. sausage rolls, pasties) and all desserts. The British have got desserts on lock (I guess that's why the namesake show of this shop, the GBBO is so popular?). A little too sweet for the Asian palate, but perfect for the European and American palate. The sweets change up all the time here, so it's always a nice surprise to see what's new. Love the little shop in the corner. Again, the wares change up a bit depending on what they get in their shipment, so I always have to go poking in there. If there's a specific thing you want, you can ask the owners whether--when it comes in--they can hold it for you. Speaking of, the people who work here are super nice, so this is definitely a business I want to support!

Yelp
Absolutely unique and all options are amazing. Service is fast and friendly. Inside is well decorated and inviting.

Yelp
Tried the curry chicken pie, pastry and beef cottage pie. All were delicious, having lived in the UK I can confirm their food and shop items are the real deal. The Yorkshire Man know his trade
google avatar

Steven X.

Yelp
Oh man this place is so good. Their pastries, pies and sausage rolls were fantastic. The filling is packed full of flavor while the pastry part is flaky, buttery, and perfect. Everything is already made and kept at the perfect temperature for you to grab and go or enjoy in their dining room. We will most definitely be back
google avatar

Yelp
As a fellow Englishman, I would highly recommend this business. The food is delicious, the owner provides great service, and the sweets/drinks provided bring be back! Everyone should check this place out to see just how good English food is!
google avatar

Mark A.

Yelp
Cool little bakery/store boasting British baked items, goodies, and things like condiments. It seems to be family run and it's decorated out in wall-paper of subways, maps, and other British things, with TV running British programs. We got both a savory and sweet baked item with a local soda; they have a small dining area where you can watch some TV (Mr Bean was on) and enjoy your snack. It's all reasonably priced and the owners are very nice; would definitely like to go back and try some other items or snacks.

Yelp
Truly enjoyed this brunch we had at the Great British Bakery in Dripping Springs. Located on Mercer seconds from 12, location is convenient. Parking was a little more difficult at the time we went understandably so. The delicious and unique menu items made me want to try it all. And why not! Grab a few friends and try the different savory or sweet pastries. It may take several tries but I'll be back to try any I missed. Loved the tiny general store up front. Order and pay at the counter with a simple and small eat in area. Lots of people ordered take out. Main suggestion is if you want your choice of the counter, go early.
google avatar

Arabella A.

Yelp
The authentic French hot chocolate is the best drink I have ever consumed. The ambience makes me feel like I have been transported into England itself.
google avatar

Charlie D.

Yelp
Great place ! Check it out. I'll definitely be going back. Took food over to Acopon.
google avatar

Yelp
Delicious British hand pies that you can't get anywhere. I will literally drive 30 mins just to get these pie because they are that good. My favorite is the chicken curry pie.

Yelp
I'd been hearing good anecdotal word of mouth vibe about this new place over the 2022 holidays, so we decided to give them a lunch try. It's a small, quaint venue in downtown Drip, which makes them a welcome addition and the only eatery north of 290 that's not bar food. Their hours are a bit odd -- breakfast until 5pm or so. There are about 5 tables inside, and it's counter service. I expect that a lot of their business to be carry out for now. The menu is indeed very British: sausage rolls, various meat pies, chicken curry, soups, puddings, tarts and such as that. Service is very cordial. The young man up front today was probably the owner. Young, outgoing, English accent- doesn't take a leap of faith to assume he's the main guy. We each got a Scotch egg and a sausage roll. For a lunch the portions are large - the Scotch egg is about the same diameter as Pluto. We'll be having leftovers for breakfast. The hard boiled egg itself was big, and it was coated by a layer of sausage and a subsequent layer of breading. The sausage layer is very savory and flavorful and still moist after frying followed by baking. The breading is thick, a bit crumbly but lovely. The sausage rolls have a different but similar approach. I believe it's the same pork sausage but in a roll without casing. The pastry coating was thin, flakey and somewhat delicate. Mine was supposed to be spicy, but British spicy and Texan spicy are apparently a pole apart. As with the egg, the sausage is the star but the crust compliments and supports. I'm very glad they're here, and we recommend them highly. Right. Jolly good, mate.

Anne M.

Yelp
The food is wonderful and the portions are perfect! If you are an expatriate living in Texas please come to this quaint restaurant you will love it!! I love the map of London and the surrounding neighborhoods! You can taste the passion and quality that the chef puts in his food!!

Maeve D.

Yelp
Cutest place! They have a great selection of pastries- including some gluten free. They have lattes as well and the staff was super helpful in answering my questions.

B. M.

Yelp
They are open the day after Thanksgiving. We popped in a little after 9am and the shelves were fully stocked. Wonderful pastries and savory English goodie's with that lovely flaky dough. The Nutella and peach turnover was great. We come every year the day after Thanksgiving. Lovely way to finish our family trip.

Rena B.

Yelp
It was our first time trying this spot. Everything was yummy. We had sausage rolls, potato and caramelized onion tart, tomato soup, and a gluten free toffee brownie. We'd recommend all of these (even though soup was a bit salty).

Zack S.

Yelp
Food here is amazing and unique in the area. Its like delicious hot pocket for adults. The chicken curry pie is always great, the new breakfast pies are delicious. Pretty much everything is good/worth a try.

Sheryl G.

Yelp
What a great find! This little shop has a wide selection of of tasty hand pies. We tried the chicken pot pie and the sausage roll. The chicken pie had a great flavor and flaky pastry as did the sausage roll. Beware, though, the sausage roll has a spicy kick. It's more of a counter pick up place, but there's some seating. This one lace also has a lot of British imported snack and drink items.
google avatar

Rice G.

Yelp
Holy smokes. We went there randomly, thanks to Yelp, as we were searching for breakfast on a distillery/brewery/dining tour weekend. Let me just say, if I could order one of everything (except for my introduction to this thing called a Scotch egg) then heck yes!!!! Let's do it. I had some sort of broccoli cheese baked good, among other things (including some DIVINE sweet baked goods) a tasty soup and I couldn't even tell you what else. The biggest downside is knowing this is nowhere near my house and I have no idea if I will have the pleasure of ever returning. But oh my!!! Keep up the glorious delicious work. I hope to be lucky enough to return with the opportunity to order IT ALL.
google avatar

Allison C.

Yelp
I rarely give five stars, but I just can't even with this place!! Can I move in? I want to eat here every day. The savory hand pies and the sausage rolls are amazing. The tarts, the cookies, the bars, oh my! The service is impeccable. The baker is so fun to talk to. The British-ness of the inside of the shop is super fun, too. Love it!!
google avatar

Chad H.

Yelp
We had the curry pie and the breakfast pie and they were both delicious. Very good we will definitely be going back next time we're in dripping Springs.

Eric B.

Yelp
The place is a hidden gem with the best pastries in The hill country area. From the sweets to the savory everything is super fresh and delicious here! A most try!
google avatar

Matthew E.

Yelp
Absolutely Fantastic! Andy and his crew have made a wonderful little place feel like home. All of the food is cooked with love and tastes wonderful. My favorite dish is the Cottage Pie however I've had just about every single thing on the menu and they've all been hot, fresh, and super tasty. The chicken curry is fantastic and full of flavor. Breakfast here is amazing and there is a wonderful little sitting area in the store so you can sit down and enjoy a nice Breakfast Slice or sausage roll. And don't forget to try the Scotch Eggs. I could go on and on about every single dish here but I'd rather you just go and taste for yourself. It's well worth the trip.
google avatar

Megan M.

Yelp
We tried so many things and everything was yummy! The steak bake was our favorite, but the sausage roll was delicious too!
google avatar

Jay G.

Yelp
A lovely bakery run by a friendly English father and son. An absolute home away from home for British ex pats who are craving their comfort food faves. Great sausage rolls, pasties etc as well as traditional sweets like flapjacks and sticky toffee pudding. They also have a wee shop with a range of UK supermarket and sweet shop staples.
google avatar

Raecheal T.

Yelp
Every bit as good as the ones we have had in England and Scotland! Plus they have a great selection of British groceries and drinks for homesick expats.
google avatar

Colleen W.

Yelp
Still delicious. Everytime I come in they have a different cookie to try and they have all been fabulous. Today I had the chocolate peppermint cookie and it was amazing. It was super chewy tender with a crisp peppermint bottom. So yummy.
google avatar

AJ G.

Yelp
Amazing first impression on everything. Tried almost everything available on the hot case. Chicken Pot Pie, Curry, Sausage Rolls, Sticky Toffee Pudding and the Chocolate Cherry Brownie. Everything was impeccably done. Pastry wasn't too heavy, flaky and flavorful. Filling was well seasoned all throughout. The sausage in itself was good and worked really well with the pastry. Curry was enjoyable and did not overwhelm. The Sticky Toffee Pudding was very enjoyable, light crumb but stood up well with the toffee and cream. Held its own with flavor and texture. The brownie was an eye opener, never had a brownie in that texture and bite before. The cherry in it was a great combination. Will be coming back again to try other things! Cheers!

Gwen B.

Yelp
I have not found one thing on the menu that I haven't loved! I just had the cottage pie and it was so delicious! And of course my two favorites that I never leave without are the Millionaire Shortbread and the chocolate sea salt and toffee cookies. Not only is the food amazing the Customer Service is top-notch!!!

Yelp
AMAZING!!!!!! I can't even describe how much I love this place. Food is fantastic, and I love their little shop. I was able to get UK Fanta at a great price.
