The Great Greek Mediterranean Grill - Troy, MI

I was in the mood for greek cuisine and my girlfriend thought of this place cause she's been here before. First impressions was that this place looked like a basic fast casual dining restaurant, I ordered the food at the kiosk and we sat down. The food took a few minutes, the hummus was delicious and well seasoned and very flavorful and thats where the praise stops. The gyro was average, it was filling but the meat wasn't very hot or fresh and also very thin, the pita bread was basic. The fries tasted like they were air fried from being frozen. She got the rice on the side which was very lackluster. The only word to describe this place is average. I probably wont be back, especially when I compare it to much better greek places I've been, I get disappointed and for the pricing its not worth it.

Will made us feel like we part of a close knit family. He went above and beyond for us. On our first visit he suggested our meals and he did not lead us astray. So, on our second visit he didn’t let us down once again. Food, service, and ambience are awesome. We are now “Regulars” lol

Chrissy was very helpful and asked all the proper follow up questions for my food order. There are self ordering kiosks if you don't want to wait in line, and it smells fantastic when you walk in! Best gyro in the area!

The Great Greek has excellent food made out of fresh ingredients. The service is always excellent, consistent. Kim, the general manager runs the restaurant very efficient and is always very helpful. Our family loves to cater for birthdays, dinner with friends or even for quick lunches during the week. When we cater, we always have a Follow Up phone call to truly find out about the food, service and what would be needed in the next catering event. We have provided feedback, and Kim has quickly implemented to our next order.

I've been coming to this business for a few years now. The food is always absolutely delicious. They have a location in West Bloomfield and Shelby Township if Troy is too far for you. You place your order at the counter or at one of their newly installed kiosks which weren't here when I last came it. I absolutely loved, loved, loved the cookies they use to sell but they took them off of the menu, and I'm so freaking sad about it. Somebody please tell me where I can get some homemade Greek cookies?? I miss those things!! Anyhoo, try the shrimp skewer with rice, it's very flavorful and very filling. It was so good I inhaled it.

Grabbed some gyros and Greek salads carry out and everything was great. Lots of meat in the gyros and 2 large salads worked well for a Byron and salad meal for 4. Great spot

This is a very casual place for dining in - a large, open room of tables with either metal chairs or, along one side, a booth seat. I suspect that they get more pick up business than anything else. In person orders are done at kiosks that are easy to use. I got a classic Greek salad with salmon. The salmon was very good - a large piece, perfectly cooked. The rest of the salad was good if not great. The feta was a bit sparse - you may want to ask for extra. Be sure to add beets if you like them - they don't come by default. The tzatziki was OK, not the best but satisfactory. The pita bread was nicely warm and pliant. All in all, this is a pretty good place for fast casual, healthy, interesting food.

The gyro sandwiches were very good. Filled with plenty of meat! We took advantage of the BOGO offer. The seating was spacious and they have self ordering stations now. Only one photo but all the sandwiches looked the same.

I'm sorry but this place just doesn't cut it. There's so many other places that the food is so much better. Our Gyros were dry, and really just tasteless. You order at the counter and they bring the food to your table, however the girl that brought our food didn't realize that she brought the wrong order to our table until about 30 seconds later. She come back, apologize which was very nice, and proceeded to take both the dishes back to the kitchen and then turn around and bring them right back out to the table across from us. I don't know if the chef told her to do that or if she just went back to check what table the food was supposed to go to, however I don't think that is quite up to code? I'm not from the health department, so I really don't know.

Great place to grab some lunch. We stopped in and it was clean, not too busy and the food was delicious. The service was great and the location was convenient. Parking can be a challenge but it wasn't enough to deter me. The bowl reminded me of a lamb and rice dish that married a Greek salad. It was amazing and definitely would get another when I'm in the area.

Not really sure what happened to this place. As you can see from my check-ins I'm pretty regular and was since they opened. I used to recommend this place to friends. I don't think I will do that anymore. The food was completely tasteless. Both pita wraps were definitely smaller than they used to be, hummus and tzatziki were completely bland. Chicken was underseasoned. Bland. Fries were almost burned. Bland. Were all the flavor went? I was so disappointed. It used to be one of our favorite place to eat. On top of that the restrooms were filthy. After yesterday, I really don't plan to visit them again.

Kim and the whole staff is wonderful here. Makes you feel at home with great food, service, and pricing. Will definitely be back and recommend to others!

Solid Mediterranean fast food. You order at the counter and they give you a table number, and you choose your seat. We got the traditional gyro and the Greek plate with gyro meat. The meat itself was not fresh even though we were the first customers on a Sunday when it first opened. It's a little dry as you can see in the picture. Probably best to not get the plate as the gyro would be mixed with the sauce. Or you can mix it with the sauce itself. The 4 dip appetizer is really good though. Comes with a lot of pitas! Fries were very crispy and fresh. If you get a drink, it's free refills. There's self serve to -go boxes. Service is ok; nothing special. I asked for "the great Greek plate with gyro meat" as it says verbatim on the menu since it was my first time. He repeated "ok gyro plate." For a split second I got confused, and made sure by repeating the name on the menu. I said it politely and innocently. He looked at me and with a glib response "yea we call that the gyro plate." Ok man. Ambience is clean, bright, lots of table, booths along the wall. Definitely a sit down place. But nothing fancy. It's a quick bite situation like chipotle. Food: 3.5 Ambience: 4 Service: 3.5 I want to give this a 3.6 and will round up

Greek salad with chicken. Large. Standard greek salad. Veggies are fresh without browning. Ingredients are customize-able to your liking, including add-ons. Chicken was warm on an otherwise room temp/cold salad. Dressing was greek/oil-based and with lemon and tzatziki sauce complemented the salad nicely. The value ($18 - large salad with chicken) is something worth considering when coming here. Other places where can get an equally good salad for cheaper. But this place wasn't bad. Clean restaurant. Good service. Made to order.

Oh snap! This was delicious! We were suprised how empty this place was when we walked in. (To be fair, we also chose it because we were hungry and didn't want to wait at any of the restaurants next door.) Ordering was quick and easy, and it wasn't long before our food arrived. Our stomachs were so incredibly happy. One bite, and I knew we were eating the real deal. The gyro meat was cooked perfectly well (not left on the heating element for a hundred years), and it just tasted so so fresh. The fries were delicious too, and we weren't disappinted by the rice pudding for dessert. This place definitely caters to the business types who would run in here during their lunch hours, but if you find yourself here on a weekend where all the other places next door are busy, don't sell yourself short and skip out on this place. Great food. Fair prices. Short wait. We will absolutely be back the next time we're in the area.

First timer, and I ordered a large Greek salad with steak medium well, to go. Total was $18.43 Some things that stood out immediately: 1) The greek dressing is from scratch, and its made with HQ olive oil. 2) My salad only had the darker parts of the lettuce 3) They use baby cukes (more flavor) 4) Fresh lemon wedge in salad 5) Presentation is careful and appealing 6) Steak was prepared correctly (medium well) Healthy flavorful food. I'm a healthcare professional, so that matters. Needed dinner for work, and this was perfect. No complaints.

First time at this Great Greek location where I have been going to the West Bloomfield restaurant since it opened in my area. From what I can tell from my limited dining experience here, it has the same great food with same great taste as I have experienced at the West Bloomfield location. While at this Great Greek location I ordered the traditional Gyro combo that included sandwich, fries and a soft drink at the very reasonable price of $10.95. I ended up getting the gyro meat with my order (versus chicken) where the meat was very tender, well seasoned and flavorful and was complemented with the typical Tiziki sauce, onions and tomatoes you find on a traditional gyro served on a nice pita bread. The other thing of note here is the Gyro was of a good size and overstuffed with meat where they definately don't skimp on the sandwich. Nice! The accompanying fries were equally good in their own right with a nice crunchy texture where portion size was also quite generous in my opinion. Overall a very satisfying and filling meal. A thing to note about this restaurant and its sister locations that it should not be misconstrued as a typical fast food chain restaurant but instead is a serious cut above with excellent Greek food. I have lost track of what a combo/value meal is for the big chain restaurants are anymore these days but the Gyro Meal combo I had puts those "value" restaurants to shame in both taste and quality all at a pocket friendly price. If you are in Troy area and like Greek food you definately need to check this restaurant out or any of its sister restaurants in the area. For all the reasons stated in this review you will not be disappointed.

every time we come to the Great Greek the food and service are amazing. staff is always friendly and attentive. I asked if my meal came with a pita and they staff told me it does not. However a few moments later Will brought me out a pita free of charge! he did not need to do this but it was extremely appreciated. Especially as I am 7 months pregnant and always want the Great Greek!

With a number of errands all morning, I had not had a bite all day. So when this eatery showed up on a Yelp search, I was eager to try it. The restaurant is located on what I call "restaurant row", the collection of tightly-packed restaurants on Big Beaver, near the I-75 exits. There is limited parking near the restaurant but significantly more in the parking structure behind it. The restaurant is larger than what you would expect upon entry. It is a fast-casual-style restaurant (ex. Panera), where you place your order, get a number, and wait for your meal to be delivered to your table. You can also place your order online for pick-up, which the majority of guests did. My eyes were definitely bigger than my tummy - I ordered the traditional gyro combo, tzatziki and pita, and spanakopita. There were two protein options for the gyro, beef and lamb or grilled chicken. I ordered the former; it came with tomatoes, onions, and a good dollop of tzatziki sauce, on a soft, flavorful, grilled pita. It was delicious - and that's not hunger speaking. The fries, however, were a regrettable addition to my order. The tzatziki with pita wedges app was tasty. I loved the bite of the garlic with the coolness of the cucumbers and Greek yogurt. The flaky spanakopita was filled with spinach and feta, flavored with nutmeg and I think, leeks/green onions, and lightly dusted with feta. Service was friendly.

Fresh, delicious and authentic Greek food. One word to sum this place up is YUM! It is a convenient counter service type of restaurant where you stand in line to place your order and you're given a number. You seat yourself and when your food is ready someone will bring it out to you. They also do takeout orders here. Service is fast and my friends and I only had to wait 10 minutes for our food. Portions are very big! I ordered a small Greek salad with a shrimp screwer added for an additional cost of $5.95. It was plenty for my lunch and I even had leftovers. The salad was cold and crisp and had plenty of tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, and feta. I appreciated that Romaine lettuce was used instead of iceberg head lettuce. The house Greek vinaigrette was light and flavorful which complimented the salad very well. It came with a side of pita bread cut into 4 triangles. The salad didn't contain any garbanzo beans so next time I will ask for some to be added. I only wish they offered garlic sauce here. However, they do have Tzatziki sauce and it was very flavorful and delicious. My friends and I shared a side of fries and they were extra crispy on the outside and steamy hot on the inside. You could tell they were heavily deep fried but not greasy. The interior of the restaurant is very clean, bright and spacious with high ceilings. Lots of sunlight came through the front entrance windows and I liked the red chairs. Lots of open space and not overly crowded. I'm looking forward to coming here during warmer weather and eating outside on the patio overlooking Big Beaver. This place reminds me of Kalamata Greek Cafe but yummier in my opinion. The Avgolemono soup is very delicious and way more lemony than the cheap kind at a Coney Island type deli. This is very authentic with fresh herbs and not slimy cornstarch added. Lots of easy parking in the back lot and in a strip lot off of Big Beaver next to Clean Juice, Sweetwater Coffee, Poke Works, Shake Shake, and Morton's. The Baklava ice cream sounds very good so next time I will be saving room for dessert! I highly recommend this place if you enjoy Greek cuisine without spending a fortune.

First time ordering from here. I Ordered online through their website. It was fast an easy. The food was ready when it said it would be and they even bring it to your car. We ordered the gyro platter and Greek salad. The meat was juicy and full of flavor. I was not disappointed.

My mom and I were on this side of town and were starving, and needed something to eat. I pulled into this strip since there were several options of places to eat at, and we decided on this one since it sounded really good. I've heard plenty of positive feedback from others on this place, so we figured it was time to try it out. Walking in, the place is spacious with plenty of seating. They have their menu up on big TV screens to view so you can read it while standing in line if there is one. We were the first people in right at 11 AM when they opened, so we got waited on immediately. It's a fast casual setting, so you order at the counter and they bring the food out to you. Their menu's pretty traditional in the sense of what they offer. Item's like Gyros, Hummus, even Falafel! (I love a good Falafel.) and a few other items as well. My mom went with a salad, and I went with a Gyro pita with a pop and a Greek Salad. The person at the counter was super friendly and helpful. We both loved how they were knowledgeable about the food and answered the few questions we had about what came with it. When the food came out, we both loved how good it tasted. It was extremely fresh and well worth the cost of what we paid. As someone who's had enough Gyro's and Greek Salad's in their day, this place does it fabulous! Even on the ride home, we mentioned just how good the food tasted. So why only four stars instead of 5? While everything here was spot on, their price point's kind of expensive. My mom's salad was priced fine at $7.75, but if she had wanted a protein upgrade of Chicken, it would have been and extra $5. If she had gotten a drink, it would have been even more than that. The only entree's they have are dinner entree's and their priced in the $15 to $18 dollar range, not including any beverages. While the food and location's fabulous, $20 for a quick meal is expensive! I'm not a "cheap" person, but they could do some sort of lunch combo instead of charging $5 for every little add on. I will be back in the future, so no worries there. This place is a fabulous healthy lunch and well worth a visit if you have time.

Food is delicious and fresh and their portions are well-sized. I've ordered their kids meals twice and they were perfectly filling. Great tzatziki too!

Combo platters BOGO came in handy for a party I had tonight. Everyone loved the food. This is my second party with food from Great Greek and I will continue to use them for parties or just when I am hungry.

yummy pitas from this place. It's a walk up and order style, and there are tables inside to eat at. The pitas were good, & the gyro meat was flavorful. The pita itself was so soft and chewy in the best way.

I was hungry, pulled up Yelp to see what was around after encountering a train wreck at the nearby noodles, and noticed I hadn't tried this location yet. Gonna spare you all the repetitive food was great paragraph & just say thanks for some good service, place was packed. What a breath of fresh air that evening, needing to have eaten an hour or two earlier, and to get us food so quickly is the reason for today's review. I will keep the bookmark on this place for sure. Just look at these fries guys.... How many lemons do you squeeze on your fries covered with that delicious feta & greek seasoning.... So crispy... I leave these photos for me, to remember if I had a good meal. I don't care if you like the photo or not, but if you think it looks good or you would eat it, I dare you to like it ;)

This is MY FAVORITE Greek restaurant to come to whenever I'm in the mood for a delicious Greek meal. Located in a fun little strip center not far from Somerset Mall off of Big Beaver Road. To describe this restaurant in three words: Fresh. Clean. Authentic. I can't get over how fricken delicious their Chicken Lemon Rice Soup is! Every time I come in and order, it's freshly made and has such a unique flavor. Lightly salty but also sweet at the same time. The Chicken Lemon Rice Soup is thick, rich, and creamy. With a sprinkling of fresh Dill on top, this takes the soup to another level. I highly recommend ordering the Steak Tenderloin Kabobs. OMG! You get 2 skewers of delicious meat, a nice portion of rice that acts as a bed for the Steak Tenderloin to sit on while you're working your way through each kabob, as well as Greek side Salad (not pictured). This restaurant is nicely setup. When you walk in, you order at the counter and the staff member gives you a number. You take the number to your seat and a staff member will bring your food out once it's ready. If you need any refills on drinks you can just take your cup up to the front and a staff member will refill it for you. Overall, parking is good. Most of the time, you can find a spot right outside of the building or you can always park in the structure located just a short distance to the restaurant. Love this place! Definitely recommend.

My husband and I love the Great Greek! They are always so consistent with the quality of the food, and the taziki is amazing! We almost always order the rice bowls, and everything is always so fresh!

Really enjoyed this place for some yummy carry out! The gyro was packed full of flavor and was definitely full with the meat and toppings. The chicken lemon rice soup was pretty good as well, and came with pita. Could've done with some more lemon in the soup. Order was ready when I arrived, definitely looking forward to trying this place again soon!

I had never been to a Greek restaurant prior to this year or had a Gyro. Decided to try this place out after I saw it opened recently and I was blown away by how good the Gyro was. Meat tasted fresh, customer service was great and the prices really aren't that bad at all in an era where seemingly everyone has gone up. I haven't been to Greece yet, plan to very soon, but I think the Greeks are gonna have a hard time topping this. My one complaint is that I did get sick after eating here, mild case of a stomach bug so I'm not sure if it was something in the white sauce on the Gyro or what, but my stomach was a little odd for several days. I think next time I would probably get the sauce on the side.

The food was good but nothing extraordinary. I know food prices are crazy high but $11 for a tiny (large) greek salad with no protein is expensive. $4.50 for 19( I counted) French fries was ridiculous. Ordered on website and food was ready as predicted. Place was clean.

Was craving a gyro and this place came up on doordash with great reviews. I got the great Greek gyro, feta fries, the avgolemono soup and the dip sampler. The only thing I wasn't a fan of was the dip that was similar to baba ghanoush. It was called something different but the texture was a bit off. The soup was a bit watery but wonderful flavor. My favorite was the gyro and the spicy red pepper & feta dip. Everything was absolutely fresh. Very impressed and will be back.

This place is true to what they say they are. A true casual eating experience with friendly staff. Having eaten here three times since their recent opening, I have no no complaints. They offer an indoor and outdoor dining experience. If the parking lot is full, there is a free parking structure near the back. I highly recommend the Great Greek Gyro and if your hungry hungry, get it with extra meat (Yes that's an option). If you are a fan of French fries, their feta fries are a must have (refer to the pictures). Lastly, if lamb/ beef gyro isn't your thing, they offer a chicken option which my friend said was amazing. The pita bread used for the sandwiches is a treat itself as it compliments the respected meat you order. Moreover, if you want a Greek burger, their Athenian burger delivers on true taste. You should also try their Dolmades as as an appetizer if your into stuffed grape leaves. Lastly, on my second visit, I was able to briefly speak the manager and was greeted kindly by the chefs in the back. Their service is phenomenal and they do go out of their way to make sure you are satisfied with your meal!! So don't hesitate to speak up if you are not satisfied. They also offer no contact delivery during this time in the pandemic.

There's lots of Mediterranean food around Detroit, but this little spot in Troy punches above its weight. Friendly staff, we got the gyros and the four appetizers; hummus, baba ghanoush ,tzatziki and a spicy cheese with plenty of fresh pita bread triangles. Occasionally they offer a buy 2 get 1 free, which we took advantage of on the gyros. I was a bit confused by the website for on line ordering but we got through it. Great choice for take out, but you can eat in if you like. Greek pop music playing when I was there in the afternoon.
