I recently enjoyed a delightful lunch at The Great Impasta in Danville, California. The small sandwich combo I ordered, featuring the chicken avocado on French bread, was a perfect blend of flavors and textures. The accompanying artichoke cream soup was a savory delight. The meal also included a refreshing side salad and flavorful pasta. The cozy atmosphere and attentive service added to the overall enjoyable dining experience. Highly recommend for a satisfying and tasteful lunch.

Amazing ambience for little intimate diner with family. The food tasted amazing. We are coming back.

We tried lemon caper prawns linguine and chicken mushroom marsala penne and we love it! A bit pricey for $24 each but serving is huge and they don’t skimp on sauce. Make sure to dip the bread into the sauce. We couldn’t finish the meal since its a lot so we brought it home. We ate the leftovers for lunch today! Next time we’ll try their red sauce. 😀

Coming from Missouri to visit my son, daughter in law & three grand children residing in Danville, I wanted to give a treat to all of them. It was lunch time & they took me to The Great Impasta for light eating. Everyone ordered their own choices, but I being vegetarian, which they readily agreed to prepare one, ordered Creamy White sauce Fetechuni. Service was really fast. Portions were large and more than enough to eat. No one could finish the whole dish, so we packed the remaining food which was useful for my next day's journey back from SFO to COU ( Columbia, MO). If you are in a hurry, & wish to have good tasty food, please do visit the very friendly, The Great Impasta. Thanks.

Ah! What can I say: deliziosaaaaa! Homemade sauces (pink alfredo and creamy pesto my favs) with selection of pastas (gnocchi and spinach ravioli - my fav). One thing to note is there’s no alcoholic beverages available. Lot of options for vegetarians! ❤️ The best find in a long time!!!! Highly highly recommend! P.S: writing this while eating the leftover 😋

I placed a catering order for green salad. A simple order and paid for in advance. When I arrived, my order was not ready and had not even been started. There was no apology for not having my order ready. Luckily, a salad doesn’t take long to put together but I was given a bag of lettuce. I have never ordered catering and been given the food in a clear plastic bag. This was $45. So if you are thinking about ordering the green salad that feeds 9-12 people, this is what you get.

Bought fresh pasta and Caesar dressing to go. Indoor dining is very lacking...outdoor patio on a nice afternoon is probably delightful. Was very pleased with the food.

My Italian mother in law would say it's not authentic to indulge your guest with so much cheese and sauce and spices. All of her children would ignore her cautions and fill their bellies to bursting. She would however approve of the large portions. More home made sauces than any other Italian restaurant and all available to take home along with fresh chilled pastas and many soups and salads to choose from. They are hampered by a small location with limited indoor dining space but have additional outdoor seating. They do a brisk to go business with high quality ingredients to supplement your own dinner preparations. Prices are on the high side but justified by the food and service.

Yelp
This is easily my #1 pasta place in the Bay Area that I have had to date. My go to is always any type of meat ravioli wether chicken or beef but what makes their ravioli the best is the fact that they don't skimp out on the amount of raviolis and it's a good amount not too little not too much (although I always want more) haha and not to mention the best part which is their Roasted Red Pepper sauce aside from the food the people working at this establishment are good spirited and always greet you with a smile even when your walking in with a pit bull lol . Overall this is as I said my favorite pasta place in the Bay Area

Yelp
For over 15 wonderful years, Great Impasta has been our family's cherished Italian escape. It's one of those rare gems where every visit feels both comfortingly familiar and delightfully fresh. The owner Alex recently took care of us himself! His genuine warmth and kindness reminded me exactly why this place has become a special place for our family. Their flavor and consistency of their clam chowder is so good, it would make even seaside restaurants envious. But the real magic happens when we use their roasted red pepper sauce, which elevates our homemade pasta dish to a whole new level. It's amazing how after all these years, we're still able to count on Great Inpasta.

Yelp
Pro: Easy, convenient, tasty. Great Caesar dressing. Yummy potato leek soup. Con: Pricey.

Jessica D.

Yelp
I'm a pasta lover. A savory sauce paired with perfectly al dente pasta is a dream. I read through a ton of fantastic reviews for the Great Impasta, but was unfortunately disappointed. We came for a late lunch and sat outside with our dog. It's a super casual spot, so order at the cashier and they'll bring out your food. Each pasta dish was around $27- while the portion was sizeable, the price was pretty high for such a casual shop. The pasta itself had a great bite, but the flavors were just all over the place. The Alfredo was so bland that I wish I added salt. And the Mexicana pasta was loaded with Tabasco, so that's all it tasted like. Perhaps other flavors would have been a better hit, but neither of these tasted worth it for the price.

Yelp
Amazing customer service, great ambiance and great food what else can you ask for!! They also sell pastas to make at home.

Yelp
The Princess has just gotten a bath and we needed to re-energize. Looking for an open restaurant on a Sunday afternoon that offered outdoor seating, we found The Great Impasta on Yelp. Just the name alone tickled my fancy. We looked over the online menu and didn't like the layout but when we checked the location, we were so close, we decided to drive by and take a look. Online, we found the "Build Your Own" a bit confusing. Looking at their paper menu, it was much easier to understand. We sat outside at the back end of the tables because there was a young woman with three dogs sitting at the table at the front end. She was only sitting to use her cell phone, but we were already settled when she left so we didn't move. My partner went inside to get a paper menu and then to place our orders and pay. She came out with our drinks. A server came out later with set-ups and my bread and butter. He later returned with our entrees as well. I ordered the Seafood Plate with Prawns and Scallops in a sherry cream sauce, substituting Linguine for the Fettucine. It was absolutely delicious, better than I've received in some "fancier" restaurants. The Prawns were cooked perfectly. The Scallops were okay but would have been better if they had been pan seared first. The two slices of bread were warm, but the whipped butter came straight from a refrigerator and was hard. She enjoyed her Italian Sausage Sandwich and Pasta Salad. The salad ingredients were fresh, chilled and tangy. The garlicky marinara sauce combined with the sausage softened the bread to make for a wonderful blend of textures and flavor. We will definitely come here again when in the area.

Yelp
Simply put, the best chicken piccata ever. My past reviews still hold true. Highly recommended.

Sandra D.

Yelp
Great Impasta is GREAT! The owners are friendly, the food is not only delicious but hot; portions are very generous. My husband had the minestrone soup and penne pasta with the marinara sauce, yummy. I had the house salad with blue cheese as well as the lasagna, there was enough for two meals. We definitely will be back.

Yelp
This was my first time dining insidethe restaurant. (In the past, I've only occasionally gotten food to go!) While the ambiance is not the most impressive, the food, portion sizes and service made up for it. Owner Alex was very attentive and made sure our visit was satisfying. In terms of entrees, I had the Spicy Chicken and Sausage Jambalaya and my son the Lemon Caper Chicken Pasta. Both meals arrived hot, plentiful and delicious! (They also brought warm bread and butter to the table while we waited for our food.) We couldn't finish our entrees (this speaks volumes for my 19 y/o son who is always hungry!) and enjoyed leftovers the next day. I think The Great Impasta will be included in our rotation of "where do you want to eat" restaurants in the future! If you're undecided, I think you should check it out and see for yourself!

Yelp
Firstly, this place is not a "restaurant". This is like a Deli store with a few tables for eat-ins. No attractive atmosphere at all. Service: Professional restaurants usually serve food for everybody at the table at the same time. My son's pasta came out in 7-8 minutes, but a similar pasta I ordered did not come out for 25 minutes. Food quality is like that of 2-star American restaurants. Their food is absolutely not Italian in any ways. Price: For two pasta dishes and one salad and 2 bottles of water, they charged $75.00. For their ambiance, service and food quality, the total should never be any more than $40.00. The only good thing is that, because customers pay at the front casher as they come in, there is no obligation for tip. I and my son are extremely disappointed.

Casey M.

Yelp
Best lasagna in the whole east bay . Also genuinely great garlic cheese bread . You can take it out to go hot or frozen and cook at home

Rachel E.

Yelp
I've ordered to go twice now and wanted to comment on the friendly service and the tasty food. The pastas we've ordered were correct (ordering online can iffy) and the portions were generous. That said, it's a lot of pasta so the orders can be shared. The kids really enjoyed their lasagna and spaghetti with meat sauce. I'm glad they're close when we want to treat ourselves to ordering out.

Lindsay M.

Yelp
I wish I lived closer because I think about Great Impasta a lot! Luckily, I come out to the area for errands quite a bit, giving me the perfect chance to stop in for a to-go order. I've only ever had two pasta dishes (I don't stray from what I love) but it's always delicious. The pasta is always fresh, the cheesy garlic bread is a MUST, and the portions are what really seal the deal for me. It's always exciting when I come here because I know I'll have meals for a few days! Staff have always been kind and quick to get my order out to me. I love that they haven't changed the menu on the wall (potentially since they've opened?) and that it has a simple, homey vibe. It's not often we get to see places stay around long, so coming here always feels like coming home.

Christy C.

Yelp
One of my new favorite pasta spots now! Love how unique and perfectly flavorful their dishes are We got 1. Lemon Caper Prawns in a cream sauce over linguini 2. Spicy Chicken Mexicana in a creamy tomato sauce with garlic, red chili flakes and basil over rigatoni 3. Garlic Cheese Bread 4. Passion Fruit Beverage 5. Berry Splash Beverage

Mariah S.

Yelp
A hidden gem in this shopping center, all the employees were so sweet, they asked us multiple times if we had questions or wanted recommendations to ask and they're more than happy to help. The inside is a little smaller of a restaurant but the food is so worth it and it's so cute and cozy. Our food came out literally in under 10 minutes, everything! The cheesy bread was fresh, hot & so good. The Caesar salad was huge we were able to split it between all 4 of us. The Pastasssss were to die for. Everyone loved their dish a lot and the portions were huge!! We were all able to take home our leftovers basically as a second meal! The menu is pretty big and you can mix and match or add things into your pasta, we loved it. Definitely will be back!

Yelp
We love the great impastas food. Our family has eaten here for over 20 years. The original owners were phenomenal so kind , friendly and generous. Minus a star due to the girl at the counters attitude. (I say girl because she looks young) She is the complete opposite of how the old owners were. Not a friendly person at all and definitely should not be the person you want to greet here for the first time. My advice is stick to doordash or order pick up so you won't really need to interact with her. That would be a turn off for me if I was a first time customer and didn't know how good the food really is. Another reason I took a star off are the prices. They are ridiculous even for Danville. Every time you add anything to a dish it costs an extra $5-$10 even to add mushrooms. So be prepared for that. Other than that... the portions are huge so you can definitely share a dish & food is delicious so it's worth a try.

Crystal R.

Yelp
Everything I've tried is amazing and the lady at the counter is so nice!! My go to is the spicy Mexican or the linguini special but i sub the sausage for prawns!

Kevin K.

Yelp
Last review was for previous ownership. The new owner has brought back the feeling of the original great impasta! Friendly service, quality food, and huge portions. Will gladly be back on a frequent basis!!

Evaline F.

Yelp
My husband and I use to come here all the time for a nice outdoorsy Italian food we found this place 2-3 years ago. The workers are nice and responsive for the kind of quick order and go or sit in the limited seating they have outdoors. We usually get a salad and the Mexican shrimp tomato pasta. It was really good Italian food for the price in the past. However, in the last year and a half, we felt like we can't justify the raised prices. Theres no restaurant ambiance really, most of the customers are to go orders or you serve yourself, grabbing a seat outside the restaurant on the wooden benches. We are not totally sure if it has totally revamped since we haven't gone back for more than 6 months now but for the price, we won't be revisiting unfortunately.

Eeek E.

Yelp
It's BETTER than the original. No joke. Give it a try. The owners are super accommodating and the flavor is somehow better than the original from decades ago. Portion sizes are huge again, although have to be careful downing an entire plate of spaghetti. Of course I finished my plate anyway, it's that good. We will be regulars again!

Cindy M.

Yelp
I needed a quick take out and ordered the pesto chicken sandwic. Best one I've ever had! No comparison! I'm going back to buy a container of their pesto sauce and some frozen ravioli. Absolutely delicious! And the bread was so good too! Such a wonderful surprise!

andy l.

Yelp
Had my food delivered and one of our orders had a hick up . Food was great and the customer service was amazing.

Michelle N.

Yelp
Love this small business! Walking distance from my work makes it a great lunch spot. The dishes are great portions and ticket times are really fast. They have seating inside and outside and offer dine in. The staff are super friendly and it's a chill spot for a quick bite.

Charlene C.

Yelp
This used to be my favorite pasta place for over 30 years. The previous owners knew me by name and always seemed to know exactly what I wanted before I'd even say it (guess that says a lot to customer service!). The new owners seem to be more interested in weighing how much lettuce is in the bag (yup....actually saw the kid take lettuce OUT of the bag after looking at it) and charging extra for anything you ask for. And this is for a large bag of salad? Seriously? Ask for a little extra sauce on your pasta (cuz the pasta was so dry) and they want to charge me $2 for a SPOONFUL! I don't recommend this place anymore.

Abby T.

Yelp
There's no question that the food here is excellent. Today, the service was just as good. I came in to get a dinner package for 2 (21.99) and wasn't quite sure which sauce I would like best. The woman at the front offered to let me try the two which isn't super common in any place you go. Bonus points for the Red Pepper Cream Suace being as delicious as it was!

Derek T.

Yelp
We'd bring our sons here since mid 90's. I recently visited. I needed soup because I was sick, probably the new mutation. When I attempted to enter to order, she stepped in front of me blocking my path without explanation. I stopped, she wasn't near but walked fast towards me. Took me by surprise but....typical 30 year old. No respect. I was then told I couldn't enter due to COVID. Well, she doesn't know that I travel states and it wasn't obvious. For example, Oregon you can enter every restaurant (wear a mask). I had my mask on already. Fast forward, they are the most recent owners of an Italian restaurant. ITALIAN. Based on reviews I searched after pouring out my soup at home....I get it. It's not because of food prices, a pandemic because dozens of generations before you started restaurants. My grandparents owned and managed restaurants. I worked in them. I had more tasteful soup in the military. Sell it to someone who is polite, understands restaurant business and won't do what your negative reviews state (long time customers like myself). The prior soups had taste (not salty) and fresh ingredients. I'll never be back.

Connie L.

Yelp
Ordered a Cobb salad and was super disappointed. It lacked ingredients and the chicken was super dry. $17 for lettuce, dry chicken, blue cheese, and tiny pieces of bacon, that's all it had. The only reason I'm giving it 3 stars and not less is because the lasagna is good but I suggest you stay away from the salads.

J E.

Yelp
They need a better way to take orders. One person in front of me and waited 20 minutes to put my order in. Ridiculous.

Alex Z.

Yelp
Food is delicious in this place, I had the "Lemon Caper Fettuccine with shrimp" it is delicious! Totally recommended. If you really appreciate God Italian food, this is a great place to have a delicious meal. Service was good, and the ambiance is also good. It is a small place with great food, one of those that you want to find. Parking is very easy!

Mandy M.

Yelp
Food was great! I had the ravioli with cheese and spinach, with the bell pepper sauce. Very fast service and cute family restaurant vibes. Will definitely back to bring the family.

Jaime N.

Yelp
Ordered take out~ six different pasta dishes~ spaghetti and meatballs (classic!), linguine and clams (lovely), pesto fusilli (nice light pesto), spicy sausage and mushroom rigatoni (a favorite for several in our group), gnocchi (really yummy!) and the family favorite- porcini mushroom ravioli- this was AMAZING!! The garlic bread and garlic cheese bread were delicious!! The seasoning is off the hook! The owner (I think?) threw in some plain sourdough and it was FANTASTIC!! Really nice service, scrumptious food, looking forward to ordering again!!

Mauricio E.

Yelp
Wanted a quick and easy pasta takeout for dinner instead of taking the time to make our own pasta. I phoned in an order and it was ready earlier than they quoted so pickup was immediate. We ordered a smoked chicken artichoke pasta, seafood pasta, and side of garlic bread. Both pastas were nothing special and lacking sauce. I say lacking sauce because the bottom of the to go container was just a pool of oil and butter. My poor fiancee got an upset stomach from all the grease. The seafood pieces were great though, I was surprised how good the scallops were and that scallops were even offered! Granted, they were mini scallops and not ones you'd expect from the grocery store but still! Lastly, the garlic bread was ROCK hard. Could barely chew it.

Cliff L.

Yelp
My wife had the Sautéed Fresh Vegetable Salad with grilled prawns and I had the Seafood Pasta. Both were very good. Usually I don't order pastas with cream sauces because they are usually too heavy, but this one was just right. My dish came with plenty of prawns and scallops. Both the salad and the pasta were absolutely HUGE! I'm not sure that I can even finish what I took home in one sitting. We will definitely come back.

Juli J.

Yelp
This restaurant used to be one of my favorites. Not anymore! I was here on Oct. 26, 2023. I ordered the cannelloni, the Caesar salad, and garlic bread. The salad was "OK" but the rest was so bad that I was unable to eat it and I had to throw it in the garbage. I will never come here again! I didn't know that they have new owners when I came here as I had not been here in a while. I

Theo S.

Yelp
The Great Impasta delivers a remarkable pasta experience. The food was to die for, and the portions were perfect. The friendly service and cute atmosphere even further improved my visit. I'm definitely going to be coming back for more!

Christina Q.

Yelp
Yes yes yes. Go here for a quick, delicious meal. Owners are kind and thorough. Pasta is delicious.

Tori L.

Yelp
Love this place. Go to is the gnocci with red bell pepper cream sauce. Absolutely delicious every time. Everyone who works there is super friendly. Good vibes all around.

Carole A.

Yelp
Lasagna is not like anything I have ever had. Nothing but cheese and a little meat and completely flavorless. Does not resemble any lasagna I have ever tasted. The place has changed ownership since I was there last. I will never return!

Trina M.

Yelp
The fettuccine Alfredo was good however the chicken was a bit dry and the sauce needed a little bit of salt. The noodles were cooked to perfection! I gave 4 stars because of the dry chicken and because you could not eat inside. The good thing was there was a nice table outside for us to eat at underneath the shade. I will be back for sure because I want to try all the different dishes they offer.

Amanda C.

Yelp
If I were to say that I like pasta, well that would be a lie, because I love Pasta !!! With the right sauce and pasta/filling a dish can be amazing . I think the Great Impasta (love the pun) is one of those places that sets the bar for great pasta dishes. I've gone there twice now and I gotta say that they have a nice variety of flavors. The two dishes I like the best are their Chipotle shrimp and their Spinach and Cheese Raviolis with the red bell pepper sauce. Their salads are also huge, just so you know if you order one! If you go here you'll have endless options because you can mis and match things to your personal likings!

D P.

Yelp
Service was good but the food was not good at all. Not sure why the rating is high. The food and sauce was extremely sour/tangy. The portion size was good but since the flavor lacked quite a bit, I will not be going back.

Leila P.

Yelp
Whole family loves this place! Never disappoints and always hits the spot for pasta and salad.

Michael A.

Yelp
This is my favorite restaurant on the planet. The barbecue chicken sandwich is the only thing I ever order. Please just try it. I also enjoy eating outside -- downtown Danville is beautiful.

Chelsea T.

Yelp
My fav place for soups, salads and pastas. The soups are the best I've ever gotten as takeout and honestly the best I've had anywhere. Even the flavors that weren't my favorite were super tasty. My favs are the chicken and pasta, minestrone, potato leek. The salads are large and fresh. The ceaser dressing is fantastic and I'm a bit of a ceaser salad snob. The pastas are also fantastic but I often want more sauce than they give so I have ordered just sauces on the side to add more. My only critique for them is to add a little more sauce to the pastas cause so it's well balanced with the amount of pasta they give you. (Which is a lot) It's pricy but also family run so I feel good spending the money here. They also did their best to make sure I don't overspend by encouraging me to call my to go orders or use their new website cause the delivery apps overcharge. Highly recommend this place to everyone.

Manny E.

Yelp
Everything was perfect. I placed an order for around 17 people to pick up. When I arrived everything was ready and the guest loved the food. The Smoked Chicken Artichoke Pasta is amazing and the garlic cheese bread was very popular. Can't go wrong with the caesar salad with there home made croutons.

Monica J.

Yelp
The food was delicious. Handmade pastas and sauces. Cute little spot. Friendly customer service.

Mitch R.

Yelp
Food: 3.5 stars Lacked flavor but the proportions were massive! Price: 2 stars Overpriced. Location: 4 stars. Great area but still no indoor dining. Also because of the area I'm sure their rent is higher, hence the expensive food. Customer Service: 5 The person at the front was a rare combination of fast, friendly, hospitable, and attentive! In summation: Bring the family here for dinner after a quick stroll around the plaza. Add a couple dashes of salt to your pasta - along with the environment and great service it will all add up to a great experience. Side note: if you have a few dollars left after paying for dinner, treat the family to some dessert over at the Cold Stone Creamery located next door.

Azi G.

Yelp
This place used to be good but now pastas are not good at all ... watery sour taste sauce ... no care preparing the food !!!

Jennifer B.

Yelp
The pasta and sauces are excellent. Great customer service! Every meal we have had here has been delightful.
