I’ve visited this restaurant three times because I was really craving Thai food, and this place is conveniently located near my home. It’s a small restaurant with reasonably priced dishes. However, I have been disappointed every time.
The food is average, not bad, but nothing particularly special. What really made my experience unpleasant was the behavior of one of the staff members (possibly the owner) a slightly heavy-set man, who appears to be part of the LGBTQ community and usually stays at the counter.
The first time I visited, his facial expressions didn’t seem very welcoming. When I placed my order, he responded in a way that felt uninviting for example, when I ordered orange juice, he said, “It’s not real orange juice, you know,” as if trying to discourage me. I also ordered basil chicken, and he remarked, “But it’s made with minced chicken,” which at the time I assumed was just informative.
On my second visit, I dined in again. As soon as I arrived, the same man turned his face away from me, making it clear he didn’t want to interact. Fortunately, another male staff member took my order he was polite, friendly, and welcoming. While I was eating, I saw the man from the counter laughing and chatting cheerfully with other customers. However, when I asked for the bill, he didn’t say a word and made an unhappy face. I had to walk up to the counter to pay, and once again, he looked displeased while serving me. Strangely enough, he had just been smiling and warmly greeting other customers who came in just before me.
The third time, I intended to order takeout. The same man was at the counter. He dropped the menu on my table in a rather dismissive manner, without saying a word, then turned his face away again. It felt very unwelcoming and uncomfortable. Meanwhile, I could see him being friendly and cheerful with other people in the restaurant.
I honestly have no idea why I was treated this way, especially when others seemed to receive warm service. I just wanted to enjoy Thai food, but after these repeated experiences, I don’t think I’ll return again.
