London’s Best Noodle Soups: Ramen, Laksa, Pho, and More Noodles | Eater London

"Here’s how to order at The Great Thai. Go to the right Great Thai, not the Great Thai takeaway place round the corner. Ignore the set lunch menu. Do not be distracted by upselling aunties. Get boat noodles, murky and ditchwater brown but so full of flavour, with the sharp nasal hit of white pepper. As good as it gets round the back of Oxford Circus. Get the yen ta fo if needing something milder. Chilli oil status: Chopped pickled chillis instead." - Jonathan Nunn

Oxford Street’s Best Restaurants | Where to Eat Near Oxford Circus | Eater London

"Per Eater London contributor Jonathan Nunn, “this isn’t going to compare to the boat noodles with pigs blood on a Bangkok side street, but it’s as good as it gets round the back of Oxford Circus.” Precisely in the spirit of this guide, “this” means not the entire restaurant, The Great Thai, but the boat noodles at The Great Thai, possibly the most restorative bowl out there in Fitzrovia, with enough white pepper to clear away shopping bag blindness. Slurp." - James Hansen

Best-Value Restaurants in Central London | Cheap, but Not ‘Cheap Eats’ | Eater London

"Ordering a great meal at the optimistically named The Great Thai needs a degree of single-mindedness. Ignore the set lunch menu, don’t mistake it with the takeaway shop round the corner, do not be distracted by the aunties trying to upsell. Stick to the boat noodles: ditchwater brown and dishwater clear, but full of flavour and the sharp nasal hit of white pepper. Also of note is the Hakka-influenced soup yen ta fo, lurid pink with fermented red beancurd paste, not complex in flavour but in textural assemblage — a bouncy prawn here and there, fried tofu, soft tofu, squidgy fish balls, fried fish roll, and crispy wonton wrappers. Also consider the saltfish fried rice with little pockets of dried fish interrupting the interplay between rice, egg and wok smoke. No, this isn’t going to compare to the boat noodles with pigs blood on a Bangkok side street, but it’s as good as it gets round the back of Oxford Circus." - Jonathan Nunn

I had a wonderful dining experience at The Great Thai Kitchen. I ordered the beef green curry, which was authentic and rich in flavor. The portion was also generous. I also tried the crispy Thai prawn cake, which was delicious, perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The restaurant itself is clean and cozy, creating a very comfortable atmosphere, and the staff are polite and friendly.

The Great THAI Kitchen offers a cozy setting with a varied menu. I had the tofu green curry—while the portion was generous and the service friendly, the flavors didn’t quite hit the mark for me. The curry lacked depth and balance compared to others I’ve tried. Still, the ambiance was nice, and the staff were attentive, so it might just be a matter of personal taste. Worth a visit if you’re nearby and curious to try their other dishes.

Food was great but the service was terribly awful! My friends and I arrived around 6pm, there was no queue by that time. The staff let us seated and we finished our food around 7pm. We were going to washroom by turn before leaving as there’s only one washroom downstairs. After I came back to the table, the staff immediately asked us to pay. Since we paid separately, a friend of mine and me paid already and we were waiting for another friend back from washroom. The staff felt annoyed and wanted us to pay for our friend and got out of the restaurant right away because there’s a queue outside. We didn’t stay long. We only dined for one hour and they didn’t even say how long we could eat before we were seated. There’s queue everywhere when it’s dinner time in Central London, so what’s the point to rush us out for a few more minutes. The staff was rude and gave us a very bad experience. Never go back!

Really tasty Thai food with fair but not overly sized portions and fresh ingredients. The flavors were authentic and well-balanced, and the service was friendly. The atmosphere is casual but welcoming, perfect for a relaxed meal. The only reason it’s not 5 stars is that it could’ve been a little spicier for my taste and the chicken satay was quite watery – but overall, a great spot I’d happily come back to!

Phenomenally authentic! Stop scrolling. THIS IS YOUR BEST CHOICE! I’m constantly in search for the best Thai as I travel. This place is a gem. Don’t leave London without ordering their red curry, Thai milk tea and sticky rice mango!

The Great Thai Kitchen in London is a truly unique and authentic gem that stands out among the city’s many Thai restaurants. The warm, welcoming décor and friendly staff create a comfortable atmosphere that immediately puts you at ease. The real highlight, however, is the menu—filled with genuine Thai dishes that go far beyond the usual offerings, featuring flavors and combinations even seasoned Thai food lovers may not have tried before. Every dish bursts with authenticity, freshness, and perfectly balanced spices, making the dining experience both exciting and deeply satisfying. An absolute must-visit for anyone seeking true Thai flavours in London. The staff were brilliant...

Came here for the second time, enjoyed every bit of it until I got yelled at by a male staff (likely the shop owner). My partner and I visited on a Saturday evening, been craving their amazing Beef Boat Noodles and Mango Sticky Rice all day. The quality of food is promising, we inhaled everything within seconds. Towards the end of the meal, a couple with a pram came by the store front and was asking if there's a table for two - a male staff, which I believe is also the restaurant owner, responded it's a full house at the moment. The couple looked disappointed so I tried mouthing to them saying "We're about to leave", since I thought we're occupying the space and I do want people to try their great food - and tbf the restaurant wasn't full at that time, no one's queuing and there was still an empty table at the back. And the next second, I heard the staff yelling at me, "Excuse me! We got a reservation for this table. And we don't allow prams." My partner and I were both in shock, just couldn't believe that's how they speak to their customers. I might have crossed the line by being nosy and inviting them in but by no means it was ill-intended. That blunt remark was completely unnecessary and disrespectful, I think there's a better way of expressing and phrasing it to your customers. Once we walked out, a random group of three just showed up and our table was offered to them right away. So note for all: it wasn't about being full-house, nor there's a reservation next - it's just no prams are welcome here :) Well maybe I should also learn a lesson, will mind my own business and never visit again!

Authentic Thai spot with a cozy, no-frills atmosphere that really brings back memories of Bangkok. The dishes are full of traditional flavour, though the spice level is toned down for Western tastes - do ask for the prik nam pla if you want the extra heat. Wood tables and stools add to the street-style charm. Prices are very reasonable, making it great value for money. Definitely worth a visit if you're after a more genuine Thai experience.
