Awesome bar with super friendly staff and guests and delicious food! They also have darts, a jukebox and a pool table with plenty of room around it. Huge outdoor smoking area too for smokers/vapers. A real local treasure!! Did I mention drinks are very affordable land food is too!

The greatest? More like the worst! I passed by this place with my friend on the way to a restaurant she frequents. The Greatest looked appealing, and they have good reviews so we decided to go. We sat anywhere, but no one came and asked for our drink order. So we moved to the bar, because it was not crowded and I believe they only had one bartender working. As soon as we sat at the bar the bartender approached us kindly asking for our drink order. Which was fine. However when she was making my friends drink, shaking it up, she walked out the door to go outside. Then when she came back inside she was still shaking the drink. Immediately my friend and I was like no, why would she walk outside with a drink she's making. The drink did look good. But it was hella weird for her to leave outside. So my friend declined the drink. That's when the attitude came. She was like what do you mean no. She took offense that we no longer wanted the drink. But I asked "why did you take the drink outside"?? She replied that there was a customer was outside asking her a question that she went to answer real quick. But girl why didn't you put the drink down before you went outside?? Don't you see how that's weird and could make a patron uncomfortable?!?! The customer came inside, sat at the bar and apologized to me and my friend., saying he called her outside to ask a question. He then offered to buy us a round. And the bartender said "No, but you can pay for the drink she made me make and doesn't want". So I paid for the drink I got, which was in a can and we left. It would've been okay if she didn't get defensive and apologized, and made a new drink. It didn't sit right that she acted like her stepping outside while making a drink wasn't a big deal. Infact she got mad and refused when the customer offered to buy us a drink.

I’m in LA on a work trip. I read the reviews on The Greatest and decided to try it out. I do travel a lot, this bar is by far one of the greatest hole in the wall that I have ever been to. The service is great with an awesome atmosphere not to mention the super friendly locals.

Food is amazing I came in on a Tuesday because I do not work far from this location and they had 1.00 tacos and let me tell you they were a great size and they were absolutely delicious the chicken ones were really good on Wednesday they have wing Wednesday and those wings were delicious without a fail this has become a very affordable and delicious place for me to enjoy lunch will definitely be coming here again and again

been here three times and the first time there was a fruit fly in my ice. Not in my drink but frozen in the ice! second and this third time the fruit flies were flying around me while made me curious as to where they were coming from. Every time, I struggle to be able to hear my songs on the jukebox. I can put my song in and not hear it the entire night so don't be surprised if you don't hear your selection. It's mainly hispanic music that is favored so if you are looking to hear something else, don't hold your breath. I've also had bad experiences with the regular customers so this is not somewhere I would come if I wanted an intimate or private moment with friends or a date.

Super creepy bouncer! peaks in restroom windows!! male, and female! Windows to the women's and men's restroom are pushed out and replaced with cardboard for easy peeping Tom activities, Be ware ladies, big tall black guy *Once caught he claims, "he's checking to see if people are doing,"Coke" tf bro! I will never ever recommend to any of my friends sad part was I was having a good time before I noticed this!

The best deals on drinks and the bartenders are always pleasant! A gem in the area for sure.

Perfect spot for contractors or guys on the road. One of the cheapest places for drinks. Kitchen closed on Mondays and Tuesday and Wednesday are my top days to eat there. Service is quick and efficient taco Tuesday and wing Wednesday are a must. Place is always full with locals and very nice. Will definitely be back here again.

A local hidden gem! Kinda sad I've never been here sooner. It's a small community of locals and the bar fills up fast. Bar is actually really clean, and small but spacious. They have pool tables + darts. The best part is there is a taco station on the patio where they make fresh tacos to order. The owners introduce newcomers to everyone around the bar!

It's a small hole in the wall, chill vibes has pool table, however the security guard makes it so uncomfortable ,thinks he owns the spot , can't say the wrong thing to him because he's so soft and takes things personal he would band u from going there, he doesn't give welcoming vibes . Some tall fat dude . That's what yall can improve security

Uncomfortable atmosphere. Bad vibes received by staff and security. Experienced harsh criticism, bias, false accusations, discrimination, harassment and could be possibly racially motivated. Guard card credentials, registration and training unknown, security attire and etiquette not visible to the eye. Security does not perform duties appropriately, chooses who to search and verify identification but will allow others unknown to walk right in. Public dive bar for locals only and not friendly or hospitable to customers outside of security, staff or owners circle. Please be cautious of surroundings and aware of all unknown attendees within the establishment and parking lot. Food not served regularly. Possibly contaminated due to uncleanliness and unsanitary conditions of utensils and appliances used for preparation. No kitchen within this establishment. Be safe and maybe rethink visiting The Greatest Dive Bar. Other options are more likely to be toward your expectations of a comfortable experience.

This is at a great location, the best part about this place were the patrons,, this place has the potential to make good money, and bring great clientele. Good place to play pool and to learn. Night bartender has been bartending too long does not care. Probably hurting the business, would not give me her real name, just blamed her coworker. Nothing on tap,, but every avid Guinness drinker knows it comes from tap and if it does not,, you drink out of a glass not the can. Again the pool players there were awesome, very respectfull. I would recommend to stop by, but plan on No costumer service. Zero effort.

My boyfriend is in from out of town and we decided to go have a drink at my local corner bar, I've seen this place for a while and the black and white decor seems very sleek and inviting, however this couldn't be farther from the truth. They have one tiny entrance in the back, in retrospect it's probably used to screen their patrons. An aryan woman was sitting at the entrance staring me and my partner down from over 50' away, the vibes were completely off and unwelcoming. We ended up leaving and visiting corner bar down the street which was a lot more inviting and fun.

This was my first time at this establishment and the bartender Monica was extremely racist. I'm a brown Latino with green eyes so as soon as I came out of the bathroom from just getting off work I was immediately refused service. The worst experience I've ever had and I'm 4th generation in hawthorne. My grandmother has lived out here since 1970. I urge anybody who is a hawthorne/ Inglewood resident to stay away from this bar .

Great local bar. Had a great time watching football! Fun crowd, be prepared to hold your own- don't take it personally, it's just true fans! GO SEAHAWKS! :)

Been coming to this spot for years. Really kind staff, cool juke box music thing to pick songs, cheap drinks, always my go to for casual drinks.

This place has become our local go to since the first time we stopped in nearly 4 years ago. We always have such a great time and there aren't many places you can go with so much diversity. Everyone is friendly and the bartenders are GREAT!! Monica and Jesse are wonderful... and so are the rest of the staff. Nothing but good vibes comes from this place.

I came here on a Friday night and it was a blast. The pool table was held down by some damn good players who were a pleasure to watch. The beers were cheap, the whole bar sang Happy Birthday to someone, it was a great time.

One of the dirtiest little dive bars in LA. Where the drinks are cheap but well served and the juke box has a great selection. You can smoke in-doors which is an automatic plus. Not for those people looking for the in crowd. Not a great date spot either. But a good place to get some drinks and a cab ride home. ;) Truly is The Greatest (dive ever)!

I used to go here a lot in the late '80s--early '90s when I lived out there, and it sounds like it hasn't changed at all. That's a good thing. I remember it as a true working class dive bar with some pretty cool people hanging out as regulars. Great place to start out the evening or end it. Always weirded me out that there would be people waiting to get in at 6 a.m., and always some people in there drinking at any hour of the day. Haven't been there in 30 years but would go back in a heartbeat if I'm ever back in the South Bay.

Amazing people. Amazing music. Fun staff. More people in the south bay should be going to bars like these.

I don't know about this place, I hear good things but every time I been here it wasn't so great. Bartenders kick you out right at 2am and start last calls 1am it seems. There is only one pool table and usually one good player up against the bar drunks. It's good for chatting and drinking. Gets crowded too and people seem happy and having great time. Plenty of parking and easy to find

Can't complain, it's like Cheers, everyone knows your name. My go to for a drink. This bar has been the neighborhood bar for as long as I can remember and always a good experience. Don't expect it to be high end it's that dive that never fails.

Having grown up in Hawthorne-I can definitely say this is my favorite dive to bring both out of towners and friends. This place is a true gem and the bartenders are kindred souls. Plus, whre the hell else can you get a good bottle of beer for $3.50!? I highly recommend trying out The Greatest for any kind of night out that you might be seeking; I promise the patrons will surprise you in the best kind of way.

This is a proper dive bar. The drinks are poured with a heavy hand and cheap. People are generally pretty cool here, I met some folks randomly and we ended up playing some dice for shots. The bartender (pictured) is friggin hilarious! And yes, you can straight-up just smoke away in this bar. So don't come if you're not ok with that, because people come here to smoke like the good ol' days, so we don't need people making faces and acting all offended by the smoke. I give this place four stars because there are at times locals who get a bit territorial and unfriendly here. But for the most part this is not an issue.

There is not much more to say than the title itself. This is truly the greatest dive bar. Smoking allowed inside the bar. Been there times when it was aired out well and times where my clothes smelled after. One pool table and darts. No food here, but I'm pretty sure no one would be going for the food even if it was served. The Mexican store across the street has great food options.

Juke box sux, after you put in your money and select first song the song is over before you.make a second selection because the touch screen is not very responsive very slowwwwwww.... forget trying to enjoy the first three selections. Even the app for the jukebox crashes.

Came here before to play some pool before and it was cool to be able to smoke inside. Came during the day with my girlfriend to shoot pool and they had country music and white folks. Bartender must have been drunk. Older white lady denied us. Saying that 1991 wasn't of age and had the whole bar in on it. Are you serious? Do your math. Don't be drinking on the job. Says 1993 is the year to be able to drink... 1991 comes before 1993 are you stupid? Left angrily as I have come before with no problem. Not my fault I age well along with my girlfriend. Took our business elsewhere. Go to THE ROCK IT down the street! Friendly bartender :)

The South Bay isn't my familiar turf, but I've nonetheless gotta review "The Greatest" because the world sorely needs great dive bars! Made plans to meet a buddy here before moving on elsewhere for dinner. This was supposed to be a quick hit: Grab one drink and then move on. I arrived first and liked the place so well that I told my buddy I wouldn't mind staying put here for a while. My friend is somewhat of a "regular," and the social vibe is extremely relaxed and welcoming. At my request, we came back for another round after dinner, and the place was really hopping on that Friday night. There is nothing even remotely refined, new, or fancy about "The Greatest." This is a classic bare-bones watering hole; a good old neighborhood working class dive bar. The mixed drinks are well made and inexpensive. The beers are good and cold. However, If you're sensitive to cigarette smoke, this is clearly not the environment for you. Every halfway decent town should have a bar or two like this one. If I lived in the area, I'd be a regular too.

I love coming here at least once a week with my friends, the bartenders are super chill (Jhey especially) and the drinks are super cheap. For the most part there are pretty cool people there as well, but with every dive bar come some crazies, I guess. One of the only negatives is that I wish they had karaoke! Also, it can get super smokey in there, which is good for my friends since most of them smoke but I don't always enjoy it. Overall, the phrase " Cheap drinks good times" pretty much sums this place up. Love it!

Owner is a total narcissistic asshole who treats people horribly while watching his bartenders and his dad get tanked at the bar. Bartenders are rude, unless you're a regular, was very hard to get a drink because the bartenders are too busy drinking and smoking with their regulars than worrying about a few newbies, who should have become regulars, but now, never will.

Go somewhere else. Yuck...THIS hole in the wall has one of the ugliest bartenders (appearance and demeanor) ever. her name is RACHAEL. She has the attitude of a hot chick, but she is nothing more than a wide body with a butter face. ummm..., She was ok "but her face" ...lol.. YEAH the locals are okay, but this ugly attitude driven bartender has to go. She ruins it for any clientele that may be new. Her attitude sucks. She cannot take a joke. Her intelligence is lacking, so she is unable to figure it out. If I were the owner, I would have a serious conversation with her as she is horrible for business. She has a very bad attitude and is very self righteous. She cannot even carry on s conversation with one ounce of intellect. She is rude, plays favorites, and just plain ignores people. She is arrogant, nasty and mean to the clients. Is this who you want running your bar? Her social skills as a bartender leave something to be desired. She thinks she can treat people poorly and get away with it? Not this time. ALSO, it is weird that the patrons are allowed toSMOKE INSIDE THIS BAR. Makes for a real stench smell inside. Take a look at the way this feeble minded bartender treats your clients. Rachael is the worst bartender that I have ever encountered in my life. i will go someplace else. ANYWHERE BUT HERE. What can be said about this place that hasn't been said already. The devils playground, thats what we call it. The drinks are cheap, the environment is lively, the regulars are friendly and the bartenders are nice. Shout to Sandy, and Monica! Come here for a good time, and a cheap bar tab, but beware.......before you know it, it'll be closing time and you won't know where the hell time went. Good times.

Best dive bar ever. Especially if you're a smoker....the drinks are strong and cheap, the people are friendly(usually...there is alcohol flowing....), the bartenders are cute and the service is great. If you're looking for a meat market, try somewhere @ the beach; if you're looking to do some drinking and shoot the hits, this is your place. They only close when legally obligated(2am-6am), so if you need somewhere to go drink away your sorrows on christmas morning, heres your place.

Tried this bar for the first time with my husband and a friend. As soon as we got there they wanted to start a fight with my husband. I am Latina and the females were looking for fights with me and I didn't do anything! It was full of Latinos/Latinas but they are ghetto! Would not recommend this place.

Love this place! They open at 6am... Awesome people, cheap drinks, AMAZING bartenders, good times! Oh.. and they OPEN AT 6AM!! WE LOVE THE G!!!

Great beer prices. Nice place to hang out with the locals. Must get there early on Fridays and Saturdays nights, maybe around 7ish, because the place is small and gets packed pretty quick.
