The Best Greek Food in Portland and the Surrounding Suburbs | Eater Portland

"Located in Milwaukee, this bright red food cart is easy to spot and is consistently open, hawking not only gyro but also salads, dolmas, and Greek fries. The cart’s lamb is full of flavor, served in chunks instead of the typical slice; it’s available wrapped in a pita with vegetables and tzatziki or in a salad. For those interested in dessert, the baklava should not be missed."

I got the monster fries with lamb and they were amazing! We will definitely go back here again. We had a great time eating and relaxing here.

STAY GREEN

Google
The best food cart in Oregon ! Must try, and I highly recommend this place for delicious food 😋 outdoors or under cover seating, perfect for beautiful weather! My favorite is the Philly game changer for sure 🙌 🙏 thank you - Austin Barnett

Google
Greetings, Got to try this place out for lunch and chose the Lamb over rice dish. Overall the dish was not too bad, just a bit salty for my taste. Very flavorful. The rice was well seasoned and good, but the lamb was over seasoned and could hardly taste the meat. Didn't really like the small side salad. Customer service was good and the gentleman who helped me was kind. He got the food out to me in a timely manner and the presentation in the box was well done. **Have also tried the Greek Fries and they were okay**

Christina Brewer

Google
Lamb gyro was OK. My expectations are extremely high. The meat was in cubes and I prefer paper thin slices. There were no peppers. I expect they have to be made more bland to appeal to more people but it just lacks authenticity to me. I would eat there again.

Danielle Brown

Google
Service was.. awkward. The food was pretty good, but the hummus and fries are over priced imo. We got a good portion of hummus but only 1 piece of stale pita bread.

Katie Lynch

Google
Seriously, the most delicious food ever. The chicken gyro was just the most delicious gyro I’ve ever had. So grateful they were at the State Fair! An oasis of good food!

Google
I love the food here so much, but the prices are ridiculous & the owner is quite rude in regards to the use of cards. She keeps her card machine covered to deter people from using it and is very passive aggressive about it rather than just putting up a sign that says cash only… not to mention i made eye contact with her being on her phone while waiting for my order. I only still come here because there is a very kind male worker who i’ve caught once or twice.

Christina Ablahad

Google
I ordered hummus with an extra piece of pita bread and it came out to 10.50. Overpriced and not that great. I gave them $11 and they decided they didn’t need to give me my change back. Woman seemed irritated I didn’t tip more but she kept my change? Tipping is for service. There’s no service at a food cart. You stand to pay, you get your own food and you bus yourself. The awkward and uncomfortable service means I won’t be back.

Yelp
Great food pod with lots of seating and a variety of foods as well as a bar. Always found this space to be clean with no observed concerns. First time here and craving a gyro. The woman at the counter was kind and helpful. I made my order and was given a beeper. Food was ready in about 10 minutes and sat down to eat. The gyro was a decent size with a nice helping of cubed lamb, sauce and vegetables. The meat was very flavorful and tender. The pita was soft and held up to the juices. While I do prefer carving the meat off a spit, this worked well and was delicious. I'd definitely return

Yelp
Whenever I'm in Milwaukee, I stop by the food carts for some Greek Gods Gyro. My go to order is the lamb gyro and a half order of dolmades. Super flavorful with their own spin on the classic (added carrots) Reasonable priced, very friendly staff. Street parking. Busy during Milwaukee High lunch hour. Enjoy!

Yelp
Great balance in flavors and the falafel balls are moist with a bit of crunch on the surface nesting on a bed of fresh lettuce and tomato snug in a warm soft pita bread. Cheers!!

Yelp
We're visiting from AZ & NV. Absolutely loved the Greek food stand! Their Greek fries were perfectly seasoned and crispy, while the falafel gyro was a delightful blend of flavors and textures. A definite must-try for anyone craving authentic Greek cuisine! Chill outside covered earring area. Location also includes other food and beer stand.

Yelp
Love the Lamb Salad and Shawarma! The owner is always kind to me and appreciative of the business.

Yelp
I decided to drive over and give this food truck a shot as my husband and I have been looking for a good gyro in town. The Food Truck is located in the Milwaukie Station food carts. I was able to get a parking space right up front which was nice. the Greek Gods Gyro was the first food truck as I walked in. The woman who took my order was extremely nice. She also gave me a little Will call that would go off when my order was ready. She let me know it would work from my car if I wanted to go back and sit there to keep warm. Before leaving she asked if I needed any utensils and again, was extremely pleasant. The food truck was very clean and tidy. I appreciate that as I have learned that isn't always true! I took the food to go. The gyro was good with a decent amount of lamb chunks, lettuce, tomato and feta. The gyro was good, but average. It was still warm when I arrived home and was filling. The fries were a bit on the cool side and were ok, but not great. Overall average food, but the search continues for an amazing Portland gyro.

Yelp
I love this place! Has the best gyros and the woman who runs it is very nice she always hooks me up with little extra I meed to make a meal for both me and my little guy.
google avatar

Yelp
Ate here twice and both times completely disappointed. The first time the chicken was overcooked and dry. The second time the falafels were uncooked on the inside. In addition, they use are the cheapest, most tasteless veggies, e.g., lettuce, tomatoes and onions. Horrible.

Marisa U.

Yelp
Overpriced, understaffed for mediocre food. Only cater to students. I paid $15 for the smallest salad I've ever seen. It was only half a yo go box just so the meat looked huge. Last time I was there the owner looked inside my wallet & saw my cash & said that would be preferable. Excuse me noisy bitch

Yelp
After a late afternoon doctor appointment, my wife and I stopped in for a couple of lamb gyros and were delightfully surprised at the great taste and quality of these particular gyros and of the great selection of specialty dishes at this food cart. We were the only customers at that time so the service was especially great and the proprietor was very pleasant. We sat at an outdoor quiet and covered empty table and thoroughly enjoyed our meal together. We will definitely try to get back there and would highly recommend this little gem. $$

Yelp
So bad I didn't even eat it. I ordered a gyro. It looked okay. The bread was the same size and shape of pita bread, but the consistency and taste said otherwise. It was fluffy and tasteless, like white bread that's been frozen. The sauce was okay but more like salad dressing than real tzatziki sauce. Which fit with the soggy lettuce salad stuff that shouldn't be in a gyro. The meat was okay. It would have been as expected if the rest of the thing didn't let it down. I was highly disappointed because I've eaten here previously a couple years ago and it was great. Now it's on my "that was so disgusting I'm never going back" list.

Mika L.

Yelp
Went here today with my mom and it was absolutely delish! I got the Lamb Rice place and she got the falafel gyro. I'm no connoisseur but one of the best lamb plates I've had in a long time. Service was lovely, the lady who took my order was super kind. Food cart seating area is not very crowded but it is also mid-day on a Wednesday. Highly recommend this cart!

T C.

Yelp
Nothing special. Everytime we've tried this cart... service is extremly slow. No reason I can see to take sooo long to put together a Gyro or Kafka plate... like they don't want the business?

Kristi M.

Yelp
love this place! staff is very friendly and food is delicious! I come here regularly and am always satisfie.
google avatar

Andrew V.

Yelp
I so wish this cart was closer to me. The staff (owner?) was really friendly and helpful, which I appreciated. I got the kofta salad with extra kofta (super salad bump $2) and feta ($1 NEVER skip the feta). It came with creamy and flavorful tzatziki, and some nice pickled vegetables on the side. I also ordered some warm pita bread (excellent) and a $4 side of falafel with hummus too. All the food was delicious! The kofta had a well-balanced spice to it (5 spice, I think), the falafel as well (great texture), and the hummus was SO creamy, clean, and delicious--maybe the best I've ever had--zero unpleasant aftertaste that all store bought hummus seems to have. The only thing I threw away was a spicy and piquant side sauce that didn't work with anything on the plate. I would make that spicier, more savory, and less piquant. I'll be back for sure! It's the best cart there.
google avatar

Mark M.

Yelp
Great cart in a terrific pod. There is someone for everyone here, including a good beer cart. For lunch I had the lamb gyro and it was DELICIOUS. Give them a try.
google avatar

Shane W.

Yelp
The philly was solid but not spectacular. Same for the chicken over rice; it was juicy and the sauces that came with it were tasty, but we were hoping for some bolder flavors. The big pickle chunks in the side salad were a little odd.
google avatar

T A.

Yelp
Very good lamb gyro for a food cart. Would definitely come back again. Great selection lamb, chicken, beef. Gyros, Falafels, rice, Hummus. Philly Cheese Steak
google avatar

Beth E.

Yelp
I feel like I've never had a bad gyro from a food cart. Maybe I'm just blessed to live in Portland. But this right here, this was a really good gyro. The chunks of lamb were so perfectly cooked. Just delicious meaty morsels. It came out quick, it was a good price, the lady working was kind, what more could a person ask for.

Scarlett O.

Yelp
The most disgusting gyro I've ever had. The rudest man and non existent hygiene. It was meant to be lamb but tasted like deep fried cubes of burnt something-or-other. Wasn't like any lamb I've ever eaten. An absolute rip off and barely qualifies as food. AVOID AVOID AVOID. I would hate to look in this man's kitchen. I dread to think of what I'd find there. *shudder*
google avatar

Amber S.

Yelp
I really used to enjoy coming here because it's in my neighborhood and it's only like a 15 minute walk from my house and the guy that I used to see and young lady were so friendly and nice.. But there's a woman that works here that seems to hate her job. Every time I come she's always behind in orders, she's always rude, and very short with everyone. And the last time I came she was standing outside talking to one of the other food truck workers and my fries burned. I wish I knew what days the other two people worked because I really don't like to deal with her. Today was the last straw.

Ally S.

Yelp
The food tasted okay, albeit a bit overpriced, especially the $8 hummus that comes with one small pita for the entire container of hummus. The tzatziki was a bit watery and tasted like mayo. The woman working there also requested we pay in cash and we later realized we were overcharged by about $4. (Guessing she just wanted to pocket that?) She also ignored the request for extra tomatoes on our gyro which was a bummer. Ultimately it was pretty skimpy on all ingredients. Not an experience we're craving to repeat.
google avatar

Alpha B.

Yelp
Ordered a "Super Shawarma" for $2 more ($9 total) which is supposed to have double the meat and it was super disappointing! It was flat and as thin as my thumb (refer to image) and had less meat than any regular shawarma I've ever had and I eat them weekly, sometimes multiple times! I even tipped the lady $3 (30%) as she seemed nice. $12 for a shawarma that was the size of a cheese quesadilla is not the move. I felt robbed and stupid for giving them my business. Not to mention it took 20 minutes to get, and I'm beyond patient & understanding. Avoid if you're able to...
google avatar

Phil P.

Yelp
These gyro's are really good. Me and my girlfriend order from here at least once a week (sometimes two times a week when we feeling lazy). We typically get the lamb gyro which is always fresh and easy to eat. Now we're trying out more of the menu which has been fun. Everyone that works there is very nice. I'll be back for more!
google avatar

Mar C.

Yelp
This is my go to for Milwaukie cheap eats! Located at the food cart pod near the max station, these fine folks offer up gyros, shwarma, and more. Their lamb gyros are stuffed to the brim with meaty goodness and tangy tzatziki sauce. The gyro meat is in big dices, different than the usual slices that I see. I also like that there's roasted carrot slices mixed in. It's a nice addition to the lettuce and tomato. They also toast up the pita a bit to add more flavor. If you're looking for something more on the go, then I'd suggest the shwarma. It is tightly wrapped, ready for a picnic on the riverfront. Otherwise, the gyro, with all of its stuff and openness, will just spill out all the yummy bits onto your plate.
google avatar

Ben G.

Yelp
I always go for the chicken shawarma. It's tasty every time. Friendly owners. Also one of the few trucks in the pod that is always open.
google avatar

Lois C.

Yelp
We were driving around unsure of what to decide on to eat. Greek god gyro was very good... Little bit surprised at food truck prices.

Sue Z.

Yelp
I had food from the Greek Gods Gyro 5 times over the 10 days I was at the Oregon State Fair. My first foray was the chicken wrap which was very flavorful and delicious . The sauces were tasty ( I could have used a bit more kick, but it's all good) , and it was an adequate sized potion . My husband had a falafel gyro which he said the falafel were very good but was envious of my wrap , felt that I had better condiments in mine . ANYHOW, I decided to get the same thing to take home the following day, as I am a performer at the fair and generally don't like to eat before I play. I got home with my wrap hours later ( 10:30 pm) , warmed it up a little and dug in to discover that I was given lamb instead of chicken . Well the lamb cubes were spicy and flavorful so I was ok with it , but there was obviously either a communication breakdown or someone else got a chicken wrap . I have noticed in some of the not so great reviews that this type of thing has happened before . I was undeterred , though and was wanting the grape leaves . So the next day back I went . They were quite tasty and made a nice snack . I liked the tzatziki , it was creamy . The next day, I was also wanting to try their hummus, I asked the lady who took my order if they make it themselves and she said yes. The hummus was creamy , had a very nice consistency for dipping and had some garlic and spice to it . A very hot pita came with it, I would have preferred 2 pitas to come with it for $10 but it's the fair and everything costs more, the booth space is expensive for the vendors. So the last night I was there ordered a falafel plate . It had a tasty spiced bed of rice , 4 large falafel balls, a small size salad , and hummus . I liked the salad because it was basic had a little oil/ vinegar but nothing over the top to detract from the veggies . The falafel was flavorful , had a sauce drizzled on it, which kind of was lost in the rice by the time I was able to consume it at home but that's on me. Overall this was a good plate to eat there on the spot and other than the fact that falafel is fried it's all healthy ingredients . I would have gone back and gotten another chicken wrap , ( and inspected it before leaving ) but I was sick couldn't be there the last day of the fair . So overall I hope they return to the fair next year . They offer some healthier ingredients to consume instead of a brick of fries and deep fried treats . I would say they just need to work on communication to make sure the right person gets the right order.

Yelp
lamb gyro was so freaking good! side of rice was tasty and hot also helped catch the juice from the amazing food falafel gyro was absolutely top notch and very flavorful greek fries whatever you do, at least get this once they are soooooo good
google avatar

Marc W.

Yelp
Was fine. Definitely would pick the lamb over the beef. Gyro bread was puffy and not great. Like what you get from Costco. Amount of food was ok for the money. Fries were fine. Nothing special but nothing bad.
google avatar

Yelp
I absolutely love their lamb over rice!!! I tell all my friends about it. Big thumbs up!!!
google avatar

Alisheroka M.

Yelp
My family and I come here every week. I enjoy chicken shawarma and my kids love their fries. The girl is super efficient and very nice to us. She makes us feel welcome every time. Highly recommend this place, the food is consistently delicious!!!

Yelp
I normally don't leave reviews, but this place was beyond disappointing! So when I got there there was no one in line. I ordered the chicken salad and got the falafel sandwich for my boyfriend. The cashier asked me if I wanted to make it a meal, so I said yes. 25 minutes later still no food. A person who may have ordered online got their food before mine, or maybe he had ordered way before me. Anyways, I finallly got my food but she gave me a lamb gyro instead of the falafel sandwich. "You didn't order that." Ugh, yes I did. "Oh, I gave your order to that other guy." I also told her I got a meal. "Well, I wrote down just the sandwich. That's $3 more. You have to tell me you want a meal." Ugghhhh, I did when you asked me if I wanted one when I ordered? Waited some more... Got home and surprise surprise, another disappointment. The salad, which was $8, was the size of a side salad. Why did a 1/2 size chicken salad and falafel sandwich take 25 minutes when no one was even waiting before me? Don't waste your time or money here!

Alex M.

Yelp
Love love love! I have celiacs and get the lamb over salad every time I come here! So good, and I always feel great after eating it as well (for all my GF people out there). Definitely worth stopping by. Always so friendly!

Taylor W.

Yelp
The best gyro and falafel I've ever had! There may be a bit of a wait at times but it's always worth it
google avatar

John R.

Yelp
Fantastic food! Amazing flavor- I love the falafel and Kafka over salad. Perfect flavors- the Greek fries are to die for. And the Baklava is a perfect end to the meal- A plus!

Muleta W.

Yelp
Fresh, and flavorful food. Neat and quick work space. Excellent and friendly customer environment.

Yelp
I've just had my first Lettuce Gyro. Too bad what I ordered was a lamb gyro. When I first came to Greek Gods, I thought they were great. Young man in the truck was friendly and quick. And the gyro was yummy. But lately there is a woman working the truck who seems to hate her job. On a previous visit, she rudely refused to make what my friend ordered exclaiming, "that takes too long!" The wait time to get an order is long no matter how few people are around. And now, the lettuce has taken over the gyro. Two slices of tomato, a couple slivers of onion and a few chunks of lamb in the front of the gyro backed by enough lettuce for three more gyros. Sadly, I will have to find a new gyro source.
google avatar

CD F.

Yelp
Looking for good food in Milwaukie after a visit to the farmers market. Surprise, it's a food truck! I had the lamb gyro which was delicious. The lamb was tender and tasty, and the tzatziki sauce was very good and plentiful. The sandwich was a very generous size and at first thought I couldn't eat it all... but guess what? It was so good, I finished. I was a happy camper.
google avatar

Tami H.

Yelp
The taste is great, however, for the price, these gyros are way too small and not enough meat. Arby's sells gyros that taste just as good for half the price. We got ours through Uber eats. 2 gyros, fries, an order of hummus came with only 1 small pita, and 1 piece of Baklava was $50. Too expensive for the quality. I know there are fees that go with ordering in, but at least make it OMG this is amazing, worth it.

Yvonne O.

Yelp
The food was delicious! I had the Kafta on salad and my husband had a lamb gyro with the Greek fries, which were next level delicious! The owner Abe was so friendly. Service was quick. Highly recommend!
google avatar

Bob M.

Yelp
I mean for middle eastern / Greek food. The best - I have eaten here numerous times and in this small cart pod they are always busy. So I am not alone!! The Kafta was delicious! Definitely stop in sometime!!

Maren S.

Yelp
Amazing gyros and shawarma for a good price. I recently had a lamb rotti from somewhere else (much smaller and cost me $16) and it had me missing my delicious gyros from here
google avatar

Gregory A.

Yelp
Woah. Hold everything. You have GOT to get down to the Milwaukie Pod just inches from the Max station in Downtown directly across from Milwaukie High School. Find a parking spot and shuffle over to the lot where you'll find The Greek Gods Gyro. I have been there three times now and they most certainly do not disappoint. The young man with the friendly Greek accent (he's a good looking guy you can't miss him) sold me on schwarma the first time I visited - nicely wrapped up in a warm flatbread. BUT the GYRO IS THE BEST!!!! I visited on Sunday after a challenging day at work and even more challenging day at the gym. Warm, fresh, flavorful. The meat is seasoned perfectly - a generous portion lying on a bed of slaw and drenched in taziki sauce with this amazing white sauce a top it was sublime. The flatbread held it all together and made a fantastic meal for just $6!!!!!! Wowzers. So today, after another challenging day at the gym I swung by found an open spot right in front of the cart, saw the good looking guy I mentioned before and was delighted to have ANOTHER GYRO - TWO DAYS IN A ROW. Heaven. I have found the Greek Gods of Gyro. I'm a fan for life.
google avatar

Cory M.

Yelp
Super disappointing. I remember it being better than this. Gyro was 6 bucks. But your basic fries (no seasoning) and a gatordae was another 4? No thanks. Gyro meat was top loaded. Meaning the few pieces of meat on the gyro were on the top so when you got to the heart of the sandwich it was just cabbage. Tzatziki was watered down and poured out the other end of the sandwich. So no flavor there. Super disappointed. Gave an extra star because their philly cheese steak sandwich is delicious.

Greg W.

Yelp
Unfortunately this place that I used to love is going downhill. Got a beef gyro the other day and it was barely warm, the lettuce was white and yellow, not a green leaf to be found. Extremely disappointing.
google avatar

Rachelle W.

Yelp
We have now been here multiple times and the food is always fantastic! The staff is personable and friendly. The food is quick, hot and large portions! Our favorite is the lamb gyro. We can't get enough! One of our new favorite spots!! Seriously so good.

Robert B.

Yelp
I eat here frequently and have tried several shawarmas and several salads. I think it is fast, friendly, reasonably priced, and tasty.
google avatar

Brian M.

Yelp
I really need to learn to take pictures of food BEFORE I start to eat. I ordered the beef gyro meal to go and when I got home I started to eat. Oh my sweet jebus. That gyro had no chance. Once I took that first bite, I don't think I came up for air until that bad boy was demolished and gone. The gyro was so good, fluffy shell, juicy meat and fresh veggies. Go out of your way to eat here!
google avatar

Heather S.

Yelp
A staple in our food cart rotation. Amazing flavor, great price, & super friendly staff. Highly recommend!!
