Loved the music selection, the decor, and the service. I can't remember his name, but the English guy (bartender) was super cool. Tara was great, per usual. The atmosphere was a bit off the later it got and the pool equipment could use a little TLC. But it's a super cool little dive bar though!

The quintessential Louisiana dive bar for yesteryears. Rear gem if you like eclectic dive bars. No judgement zone. The Karaoke talent pool is also very deep!

It feels like family during the day. Can always count on good laughs. And all walks of life pontificating the vast corridors of infinite conversation, sometimes woven into the fabric what becomes love. Momentous, consistent, iconic memories have been made here.

Friendly staff, but the owner is insufferable. He ruins the entire vibe. Trust me, hard pass on this one. If you want to have fun on the North Shore, this definitely isn't it. My prediction is that this place will be closed by the end of the year.

Went for karaoke, waited an hour and a half for the DJ to skip me, did not get to sing at all. Will not be coming back. Karaoke is normally a great way to get new customers, but if the new people get skipped then it kind of defeats the purpose. Don't bother coming for karaoke if you are not a regular, the DJ does not want new people on stage.

There's a stage for a band but you never know when 1 is scheduled. Was there on a Monday night. A cover band was practicing and played for about 3 hours. 1 pool table, 1 dart board.

Great beer menu. Prices are great. Often has live music. All in all this is a great neighborhood bar with an pretentious welcoming vibe.

You know that song, "I love this bar?" Well this is that bar. Everyone and anyone can feel welcome here. In general it's a lot of service industry individuals but anyone is welcome here. Cheap beer and strong drinks with a low maintenance crowd makes this bar my go to for a laid back evening. Mondays is open mic night, which is my favorite. Wednesdays and Sundays are karaoke and there's usually a food truck that parks outside on Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday with the best food. Also, what makes this bar amazing is that in general, it doesn't attract a super young crowd so for those of us that are past the "clubbing" phase, it's perfect! Also, there's free Pacman which is pretty awesome

Yelp
Stopped by this little downtown Covington bar for some Bloody Marys on Mardi Gras morning and they were good. Certainly not a fancy place, but courteous bartenders and good service.

Yelp
Won't let me respond to the review, so here is an update. UPDATE : 05/13/24 Why would I make something like that up? My friends and I enjoyed the place before that. The bartenders and management brushed it off multiple times, so obviously the safety of your women wasn't at the forefront of your minds. It took 5 months for my complaint to even be responded to, and even then all I got was being accused of lying in the most childish way. So thanks for banning me, but my friends and family weren't going to be stepping foot in your establishment anyway. This response was all the closure I needed to see that "The Green Room" in fact, does not care. Update : 05/13/24 8:23 PM False, way to delete your other response too. I was the DD that night, I had just beat covid and wasn't "drunk" by any means. The girl that "fell" out of her chair couldn't speak even form a coherent sentence. I have multiple other eye witnesses. Take responsibility for your actions, or lack there of. How about we just see if we can pull the footage from said night? We can let the police decide who may or may not be in the wrong? You're on this yelp page arguing with a bunch of people who had genuine problems, but the common denominator is you. You and this place are a joke acting like the victim. Don't bother responding, I see all you're responses and have come to the conclusion that you're just ignorant, and more than all, childish.

Yelp
Ok so firstly, this event occurred well over a year ago and I never reported it directly to the Green Room, so at what point did you look into the situation? Tez (whom I know as well) was not the person with the snake that I'm referencing. So this means that snakes being in your establishment must be a normal thing. Bc someone other than Tez (which you are aware had a snake) and this other guy. The snake was not itty bitty. After I reacted to the snake being on my table, the guy picked it up and put in around his neck. And the snake hung from his shoulders. If that sounds itty bity to you, then I guess I am wondering what other sizes of snakes you would allow into your establishment. Instead of going through the comments trying to prove ppl wrong and act like you are completely aware and was involved in the situations that occurred, how about a simple apology and statement saying that you do not condone or approve of the treatment. That's how decent businesses respond to complaints, even the stupid unnecessary complaints. It shows a sense of professionalism, empathy and neutrality..,,which you do not seem to possess and obviously serves as huge reflection on the type of establishment you are running. When that place becomes known for violence due to the stupidity that's allowed there, don't be shocked. You all are a breeding ground for simpleton activity. A snake should not be in a bar. Slurs should not be allowed to be used on a stage. It should be discouraged and made known by your establishment. But instead of trying to learn and grow from the complaints that you received, you do nothing but attempt to reduce and justify. Hire someone to do your talking for you, bc you suck at it.

Yelp
Times are a'changing at The Green Room. Dropped in today for the first time in a couple Months, the place is being COMPLETELY remodeled. It no longer has the aura of stale beer and desperation. The staff and new GM (yep a GM) seem really nice. I think it will be good, only gave it 4 stars because it too soon to be certain. They are promising bar grub, etc.

Yelp
This place has gotten so much better within the past few years. There is know longer smoking inside the building.

Liz M.

Yelp
I edited this review after I was informed that smoking is no longer allowed inside this bar. While I previously gave it only three starts, my partially negative opinion was based on the fact that I did not think the place was well-ventilated at all, and I was choking on all the cigarette smoke. Although I haven't been there since this change was implemented, with the smoking issue taken care of, it seems like a decent place enjoyed by a very diverse crowd. It's not upscale by any means, so if you are above going to a dive bar to enjoy a drink, you might not like it here. There is live music and like I said, a very diverse crowd ranging from 18- to 20-somethings to people well into their forties and fifties, even older. Everybody seems to get along, which is cool. I also love their support for the anti-fracking movement in St. Tammany and the fact that when I came here they had signs and flyers out with the latest information/petitions available. We seem to be on the same page when it comes to things that I think actually matter, like the poisoning of our environment and drinking water with millions of gallons of fracking waste-water containing hundreds of toxic and carcinogenic chemicals for the private profit of an oil corporation (and zero benefit to the ones that will suffer the health consequences and, in many cases, pay for said oil company's profits with their lives). I know this is Yelp and not a political platform, but I'm not deleting this part because it's relevant to my opinion of the venue.

Yelp
big fan of the Green Room. Wednesday nights open nights, cheapest beer on the northshore...bartenders who really seem to know how to service those at the bar. Working bathroom, a pool table and plenty of beer and alcohol selections available.

Natasha K.

Yelp
I really, really like the atmosphere of the bar as far as lighting and decor go. However, I've found that the bouncers and bar tenders are EXTREMELY rude to anyone under 21. I like to go for open mic night and karaoke, but because I'm 18 I'm being constantly carded even after having x's marked on my hands. On weekends it can get packed because of local shows, which can definitely be a lot of fun with friends. I've experienced some hostility from a lot of people when going there, but I'm pretty sure this is because I'm younger. I highly recommend it for the older crowd, I think the grungy feel is kick ass and I feel like the staff would be a lot nicer if you're older. Open mic and karaoke is awesome to watch!!

Yelp
For my first of many live music reviews I have to say starting my adventures off at The Green Room was a great idea. Some reviews talk about what a drag the live music is in this bar but I couldn't disagree more. Tonight the band Big Daddy O's performed and it was a wonderful mix between blues throwbacks and bluegrass music in its purest form, something that can only be found in Southern Louisiana. Not to mention later in the night they played a Radiohead song. I wish I could review the bar itself and the drinks but I can't. I'm only 18 so I wasn't around the bartenders or the drink selection but to speak of the atmosphere there was a healthy mixture of pretty women and men and the young to old ratio was perfectly even. There's one pool table and the green aesthetic can't be missed. It was a great night with great music and if Keenan Knight is ever playing you're in for a night of great music.

Wendy W.

Yelp
Every once in a while my partner and I will go out to the Northshore for a date night, so I've been here a few times. There's live music here, but we've actually had nights where we started here, went to a little coffee shop a few blocks a way, and had a better music experience. Drink prices are reasonable. It's been quiet a few of the nights we've been here, which can be a plus or a minus depending. The bartenders were nice, and we got good service. The clientele aren't really my scene, and there was a night we had to walk through our fight on our way out of the front. (That was before I knew there was a back entrance.) I've never experienced a terrible problem with smoke here, and I'm pretty sensitive to cigarette smoke. (YMMV)

Yelp
The Green Room has a nice set up and usually has good bands and events but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone 18 yrs old to mid twenties. The bouncers and bar tenders seemed very skeptical of my age and I just sort of felt out of place. If you are a young person looking for something to do with other young people you should just go to Chimes late at night or find something else. Any other place you are likely to get drinks bought for you by people your parents age (unless you are in to that sort of thing). Also, The last time I went there with my friend to play pool some cougar tried to take me home so that kind of did it for me. That being said, bands, open mic nights and other events can be great here so check their schedule before you decide to go.

Yelp
So much fun tonight! Sang karaoke and the employees are surer nice! Will definetly go again!? Difinity and Greg were our favorites!

Yelp
If you're not a smoker but want to smell like one, this is the place for you. It would be the perfect small/local music venue if there were designated smoking areas. Update: I've heard very recently that there's a "No Smoking" rule. I was asked by someone with the username "Robert F." on Yelp (I'm guessing an owner of the green room??) to amend my original review. After reading other reviews of The Green Room, I noticed that Yelp username Paul D. gave his honest review and was called a "tool" by the same "Robert F." who asked me to amend my review. I think it's clear who the"tool" is here. Not very professional & all the more reason my opinion of this place stands (if there were a negative star option, I'd give it a -2).

Yelp
Love this little bar... Girls behind the bar are super cool and friendly. Pool table, Bands, Cheap drinks, Locals...

Yelp
Horrible service, expect to wait at least 30 minutes for a beer...ridiculous!! The live music is stupid, don't waste ur time at this dump

Donna S.

Yelp

Yelp
2:45-3am on a Thursday and woke our whole family up after calling multiple times. On the other end of the line was a rude employee saying that my husband needed to get out of bed right now and come pay his brothers tab. Funny thing is, my husband doesn't have a brother and we have no idea who this person is. We are thinking that the employee found my husband on Facebook just because we have the same last name as the guy that didn't pay his tab. The next morning, i call during business hours and am met with another rude employee that says "well I don't know what you want me to do but say sorry." I told him to have the manager call me which never happened. Then today, my husband gets a message on Facebook from someone calling him a stupid "c**t" and stupid "a**" for not paying his brothers tab and that the police know who he is and is out looking for him. The harassment has got to stop NOW!!!! This is absolutely ridiculous.

Yelp
The bar had around 30 people there when we arrived. When I went up to the bar, there were 5 employees behind it. It took forever for one of those people to acknowledge I was standing there trying to order. When they finally came over, I ordered two Covington Electric Porters on draft. I paid for two and then walked to away to discover, hey this beer is light colored. It looked and tasted like the Pale Ale. I went back to the bar and told the girl, hey look. This is not the porter. Look at the color of it. She said, "oh yeah, well normally it's darker." I said, well it doesn't change colors. This obviously is not the porter. She acknowledged she didn't know much about beer, and gave me two complimentary Guinness on tap, which tasted flat! Eh, what can you expect from a dive bar in Covington, LA.....

Yelp
Horrible experience. Do not ever go here . Service was poor waited forever for a drink from bartender who kept paying on her phone. Floors were sticky from I guess drinks spilt from the night before. Rude owner when I went to speak to him, also saw mice run across the alcohol bottles

George D.

Yelp
Went to check out the new place Wharton's, didn't mind the 5.00 cover, got to pay the musicians, but after getting in, waited over 20 minutes at the bar without being served. There were maybe 15 people in the whole club, and I saw only two other people being waited on at the bar. The two bartenders seemed very inexperienced and slow trying to make the new drinks. Both my wife and I were at the bar waiting, looking at the drink menu so it would seem to me that at some point we would have been waited on, but it was like we were invisible. The new décor is different, and it seems the sound system is better, but everything was too loud. I have worked as an audio recording engineer in a studios, so please trust me when I tell you it was a lot louder than it needed to be. The Green Room used to be a good place to hear local original bands. It was far from perfect and needed some improvements, but having a fancy drink menu with no prices posted is not a great move. Maybe if we got to taste one of the new drinks, we would have stayed longer. Instead we just left thirsty and mad. I will give the place another try in a few weeks.

Yelp
The bartender with the hat on was rude and had an attitude. When I innocently asked people and the bartender if they would wanna buy me drinks politely and when I got my answer I didnt harrass people if they said no the bartender said if I keep asking people for drinks i'll have to leave because it's rude. That is complete bullshit because its not rude and I only ask when I don't have money. And they made me feel so humiliated, upset and like I did something so wrong and caused so many problems as if I were out of control drunk. If someone is willing to buy you a drink when you ask there is nothing wrong with that. And by the way who would have a clue that the BS OH YOU CAN'T ASK PEOPLE IF THEY ARE WILLING TO BUY YOU A DRINKS would be a rule. Or BS can't bring your own alcohol or you get kicked out. That is wrong! They need to let certain BS rules are known. I'm not the type to cause problems and I follow rules and the only time I Find out the BS u can't ask to get bought drinks is by me being reprimanded instead of being aware of that ahead of time.
