Restaurant Trend: Emerald Green Is the New Design Power Color | Eater

"A Portland whiskey bar that has featured green seating since 2015, standing as an early and enduring example of how verdant upholstery can define a bar’s character." - Monica Burton

A nice cozy bar. We went for happy time. And they have nice selection of dishes in the happy time menu. The drinks were good. I heard the upstairs are for members only. I need to check the membership to see if it is worth while. Even without membership, the ground floor was good place to visit.

Great cozy place for a quick bite and a few drinks. They had a lengthy list of whiskey, for those who enjoy and several different wines. They had happy hour deals as well. It’s definitely a cozy place and could see it getting packed, so plan a visit accordingly. Wish we had a place like this nearby (since we live in TX)!

This place is on the ground level below the Multnoma Whiskey Library, and where you can dine and drink if you're unable to book a reservation upstairs (membership required). The decor is nicely green and there's a decent selection of libations along the wall. The bartender received compliments from other diners, and I thought the drinks were decent as well. For being attached to the exclusive establishment upstairs, the service and food fell short of the hype and expectations. The first server who took our order forgot to ask basic questions like how we'd prefer the steak prepared, and the appetizer and entree were served all at once without spacing them out. Then we never saw him again and someone else took over. Both dishes were missing an ingredient from the menu description, with no explanation of why. Deviled eggs tasted ok - it was a unique combination of flavors, but the texture of the egg white was rubbery. The garlic marrow butter on the steak had awesome flavor, while the beef was rather tough for a NY Strip. The 'chocolate whiskey cake' was very good for a chocolate cake, but didn't have any whiskey flavor. This seems to be a good place to hang out if you're waiting for a table upstairs to be ready, but not so impressive as a standalone restaurant. Since they share the same menu, perhaps the primary allure is just the alcohol.

This place was a fabulous find--I wish we lived nearby because I'd be a regular! We had been busy during the day and had a late lunch so were looking for a nosh instead of dinner. This place has a bit of a "speak easy" vibe. We had the deviled eggs and the asparagus tempura--both were truly excellent. The asparagus came with, of all things, meyer lemon tempura which was an excellent and delectable surprise and the aoli was lovely. The cocktails were masterful--I tried the "dealer's choice" special cocktail--can't remember the name but it had "X" in it. Had a second because it was so wonderful. And finally, the Dark Chocolate Whiskey Cake... Insanely wonderful. The praline "crunch" and the hazelnuts took it over the top! The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Don't miss this place!

We stopped in because MLW has such a great reputation. The whiskey list lived up to expectations, but we were blown away by the level of attention. Ross listened to what I've liked in the past and wanted to get out of the night, and did a great job walking me through the narrow sliver of Scotch I wanted to explore. Awesome experience, I look forward to coming back, thank you!

Really fun space for a date night. I think the sculpted wall art was of the hills of Scotland! The members only lounge looked cool and the libations were tasty!

Recommended place for whiskey connoisseurs. They have a huge variety of options abd the crew is trained to give you what you're looking for. The interior look like a fancy library with warm lighting. Perfect to end the night.

The public version of The Multnomah Whiskey Library. So this is one of the best places for an elevated cocktail in Portland. They don't have the massive stock but if you want something special and ask real nice, they'll usually go next door and bring a bottle over. Parking is tough. Plan of going around the block a few times or pay for spot in a lot. Check out my profile for more great eateries and craft cocktail bars.
