The Green Temple

We are located almost next door to Green Temple and I eat there quite often. The food is always fresh and healthy. The staff feels like more of a family than a corporate. They have plenty of choices from salads, an amazing veggie burger, Mexican, loafs, specials.. the green steamers are my go to with the black beans and we also love the Tofu steamers and tofu sauce. Don't forget to check out the specials board for daily soups and dessert options. The sweets are incredible here and you don't feel that guilty because their food is so healthy. The atmosphere is beautiful and serene in their small dining room or beautiful courtyard. They also have specialty juices and teas you won't find anywhere else. There Green Temple just celebrated 25 years making Redondo Beach more healthy and more happy.. and we hope they are around forever because we love eating here.

I’ve been here a few times now and I love how clean the food is, how pretty the space is and how lovely the staff are. However, yesterday was the first time I was really craving dessert and we just could not stop eating the pistachio-lime vegan cheesecake. I am not a huge fan of cheesecakes but if this is how all cheesecakes were made with the most spectacular crust, I would be in trouble. Can’t go wrong with anything here tbh. And it’s so close to the Esplanade :)

I would highly recommend the Green Temple.. they have outstanding food and great people. My favorite is the tofu steamers with the upgraded veggies.. if you have a sweet tooth save room for dessert because they are incredible. They also offer Mexican dishes, salads, sandwiches, different soups or you can do a custom 4 or 5 bowl and design your own creation. There are a few dedicated parking spots in the alley off Catalina. They also have some very unique teas and juices you can't find elsewhere. Solid 5 stars all day. They are closed on Mondays.

Variety of vegetarian dishes. I highly recommend the cornadilla, tamales, and macadamia chocolate pie!

Lovely little restaurant in Redondo Beach. Food was delicious. The staff was very friendly. Everything was so scrumptious and healthy. Will definitely come back. There are a few parking spots located right in front of the restaurant, otherwise street parking is available. There is no indoor seating, however they do have some tables under a tent outdoors with propane heaters. Bathroom is very clean as well.

Been to Green Temple multiple times now, but we always stick to what we love: the quesadillas! Love all three of them - garden quesadilla (veggies, avocado, cheese), veggie quesadilla (FULL of fresh veggies like carrots, broccoli, cabbage etc) and the yummy cornadilla. You can get it with regular cheese or substitute vegan cheese (which is tasty and flavorful). They come with a side of guac and salsa. We've tried the nachos and didn't enjoy it as much as the quesadillas. Ambience is pleasant and inviting. Service is always excellent too. We've enjoyed dining inside. Online ordering is a breeze, as is ordering on the phone. Somehow you feel like this establishment actually cares about what they feed you. It's 5 mins away from Redondo Beach - so it's a perfect meal to pick up and have at the beach! My go to is the Make your own Bowl - Veggie burger, broccoli & black beans with tofu sauce on the side. This time I got the pistachio pie since it was PI day & it is a nice treat. Love that all of this is gluten free, dairy free & sugar free! Thank you Green Temple for making this all with love

This is my favorite go to in the afternoon straight from the beach or after an appointment. They serve the freshest ingredients. Food is good. The tofu sauce is freshly made and warm, it's the best. Put on anything! Service is good as well. A fresh yummy place all around. They expanded yrs back and are open til 9. Only thing I would change is to allow your small fur baby during less busy times. Many are walking their fur babies looking for a good lunch spot. For now no pets.

Love this place. My husband and I were in Torrance and looking for a nearby vegan friendly restaurant. It's really cute and it's so nice to have a restaurant with so many vegan options without it being processed/frozen (not judging, love me some processed vegan meats!). Focusing on vegetables, tofu and tempeh just has a special place in my heart. The owner was incredibly sweet and briefly chatted with us about their history, and sent us home with a delicious cookie. Will definitely try and come back here again soon

Went for lunch and had the 1/2 soup, 1/2 sandwich and their fluorescent blue tea. Everything was delicious and service was excellent. Highly recommend the Three Bean soup! It's a special soup that I hope makes it into their weekly rotation. Avocado sandwich was tasty, as was the Blue Plate Special. The Blue tea was the coolest drink. Taste was Meh, but the wow factor was impressive.

This is the cutest, most wholesome little place in the world. I tried the vegetable lasagna special, and it was so good--I could tell it was made with love. Everything about the gentleman who I presume was the owner was so kind and wholesome, from the way he took my order to the way he carefully brought it out. I almost want to gatekeep this place because I'm worried that if it becomes popular, it will change. Please don't change. I can tell that you genuinely care about our well-being, health, and the environment. Thank you so much. I'll definitely be back.

I am not a vegetarian but I absolutely love this place. I got the special when I went which was the spinach mushroom enchiladas ($20). It was so good and I didn't miss meat at all! I also love the vibe of this place. It's very chill outdoor place that's perfect for warm summer days!

Had an all vegan feast today at the green temple. Amazing food, service and atmosphere. The bread that came with the soup is insanely good. Feels good to fuel your body with whole foods made with love

Been coming to Green Temple for over 10 years. I still am in love with their white lasagna. The tofu sauce is everything. Veggies are always very fresh and I recently tried the Blue plate (homemade veggie burger with sautéed mushrooms in their "gravy" sauce. So delicious! Service is always friendly and the outdoor courtyard space is very relaxing. High recommend checking out this restaurant!

I mean this place is great for so many reasons! If you're a vegan and enjoy a peaceful and relaxing environment, then this place is for you! The bread is to die for! It is baked on site so it definitely tastes better than usual bread lol Amd the service always is great! When I asked for recommendations, the server was quick to point out their favorites and popular options.

I had lunch here the other day when a vegetarian friend was in town. We got the Green Temple bowl with brown rice, greens, avocado, pinto beans and tofu and it was delicious! So happy to have found this place. The tofu sauce was truly amazing.

SERVICE - street parking available nearby - bathroom on the side of the main entrance - indoor and outdoor patio seating - waiters are very friendly and willing to answer questions about the menu and provide recommendations - food served very quickly - all items are made in house with locally sourced ingredients MENU - cafe style food with sandwiches, salads, bowls, and some Mexican inspired entrees - fully vegetarian with vegan and gluten free options marked - average price ($18 per entree) FOOD - Veggie Burger (9/10): this is one of the best veggie burgers I have ever ordered. The patty has a strong umami from the walnuts, which also add texture. The soft whole wheat bun is lightly toasted which makes it crispy but not too crunchy. There is some lettuce, tomato, and onion on the inside. I would have preferred if it defaulted to come with vegan/regular cheese, even if that makes it slightly pricier. I asked for ketchup and mustard, and got a good amount of both on the side. The side of steamed vegetables with sauce was okay, although I would have liked the vegetables to be roasted instead. Overall, a really solid burger. WOULD I COME BACK? Yes! I really want to bring my parents here it is a nice spot for a casual lunch/brunch

This restaurant has it all--a beautiful location, excellent service, and delicious, healthy food. I stopped in with my family around lunch time while wandering around the Redondo beach area. I have a dairy allergy, so vegan food is great for me, and this restaurant offers vegetarian food as well. When you step inside, it really feels like you are sitting in the middle of a peaceful garden. The server was very friendly and answered all our questions regarding the menu and my allergy. Our food was filling and so good. I got the green steamers bowl, which includes steamed vegetables, rice, beans, and a delicious and light tofu sauce. My parents ordered a three bean soup and veggie quesadilla. We also had the hummus appetizer. Everything was excellent. A wonderful part of our afternoon!

Fantastic vegan food homemade and served by the owners. Loved the soup and sandwich combo. I've come here twice and loved the food and atmosphere each time. The garden courtyard is a lovely spot hidden away for a discrete and relaxing lunch.

My family and I had the worst dining experience ever at Green Temple in Redondo Beach. The food was terrible, the service was atrocious, and the manager was rude and unprofessional. We ordered several dishes from their menu, hoping to enjoy some healthy and tasty vegetarian food. But we were sorely disappointed by the quality and flavor of the food. Everything was dry, bland, and overcooked. The tofu was rubbery, the rice was mushy, and the vegetables were wilted. The sauces were watery and tasteless. We could barely finish our plates, and we felt sick afterwards. The service was even worse than the food. Our waitress was slow, forgetful, and unfriendly. They took forever to bring our drinks, appetizers, and main courses. Orders were mixed up, they forgot to bring some items, and never checked on us. Worst of all they added additional items to our check! So be warned. Make sure they don't overcharge you for items you never even ordered. When we asked to speak to the manager, we hoped to get some explanation or compensation for our terrible experience. But the manager was even more rude and unapologetic than the waiter. They refused to acknowledge any problems with the food or the service and went so far as to blame us for being too picky and demanding. They said that we should be grateful for eating at his restaurant, and that we had no right to complain. We were shocked and outraged by the behavior. This was the worst restaurant we have ever been to, and we do not recommend it to anyone. Save your money and your time, and avoid this place at all costs.

My husband and I are vegetarians, and we stopped by to visit here while spending time with a friend in LA. Anytime we can visit a vegetarian focused restaurant we are super excited, and Green Temple definitely did not disappoint. The restaurant decor is very unique, all the seating is actually outdoor in a very quaint courtyard. It provides lovely shade during hot sunny days, but if it's a bit cooler outside they also have heaters. There were a wide variety of options on the menu, from appetizers, salads, small plates, entrees, mexican dishes, and desserts. They also had both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverage selection. I thought the portions very good sized, and everything tasted great. I was very impressed by their in house hamburger, the texture was great! I thought this was a wonderful spot for lunch and I would highly recommend.

After I die and am cremated, I would like my ashes to be added to the tofu sauce and/or veggie burger so I can experience those delicious flavors one last time. Always a lovely time. Beautiful outdoor seating. Everyone is kind. Bathroom seems to be newly renovated and it's definitely an improvement.

Delicious food they have at redondo beach. My friend introduced me to this vegetarian resturant. I'm not vegetarian but I think anyone should try it out. I got the tofu steamers, which had a good amount of tofu sauce. I loved the flavors the tofu sauce had to offer, creamy but delicate. It was getting a bit flavorful so I asked for more brown rice but I didn't know a small bowl of rice would be $5. I liked how this place promotes healthy eating, because it's hard to get that when you eat out. Been here a couple of times. I like their food. The only reason I'm not coming back is because they do not allow dogs on the premises. There is not rhyme or reason. I can only assume the person in charge just doesn't like it. Although all their seating is outdoors in the front and in the back, NO DOGS. It's ridiculous because they are so close to the water and every place with outdoor seating allows dogs in the area. Lots of vegans and vegetarians have dogs so it's a shame that they do not welcome my dog which means I am not really welcome either. I really wanted to support a place that is vegetarian/vegan over going to omnivore restaurants They have convenient parking just for the restaurant in a little lot off the street so you don't have to pay for street parking.

We've been enjoying The Green Temple for over 20 years. It's top on the list of not only vegetarians and vegans but for people like me that simply enjoy delicious food. I have yet to have a dish at this little gem of a restaurant that I don't enjoy although I have several favorites. We have one daughter that's pescatarian and one vegan that are very grateful to have the pleasure of living waking distance to GT. We all also enjoy the beautiful feel of the outdoor patio with the privacy, lush plants and Bali feel of the decor.

I am not vegetarian, and I honestly think the walnut loaf is great. The texture and flavor are not fooling anyone, but it's rich and satisfying in its own way. The loaf is served with mashed potatoes and steamed broccoli. Price is acceptable to me, given the location and relatively niche offerings. I don't really care for imitation meat like "Impossible" or "Beyond" products. There are so many ways to make vegetarian dishes that embrace the "vegetable" attributes. Why bother mimicking something else when there are plenty of other ingredients to highlight? Seating is outdoors only. It can get a little chilly at night but there are heaters.

I used to go to Green Temple when they opened over 20 years ago. It was dog friendly, you could bring a bottle of wine and they catered to vegans. But we pretty-much stopped going when the dogs and wine were no longer allowed. Recently they started to allow well behaved dogs on the outer patio that's street facing. Plus they added alcohol to the menu in the past few years. I'm now a regular again! And the food seems to be better than ever. Their soups, salads, burgers are all beautifully presented, not overly salted and delicious.

Long time customer of The Spot. Since their closing I ventured south to the ex's restaurant. Same menu, but missing crispy tacos! Tacos were soggy, but salads & veggie patties were similar to original recipes we adore!

this restaurant definitely have a specific vibe, so if you share it, the restaurant would be great for you. Not for everyone, though. The food was good, but may not be impressive to less aligned eaters. The service was good and the waitress was very friendly. I really liked the grapefruit juice.

Great food and service. I typically get the sproutada and my husband loves the savory gold. Green Temple is our go-to restaurant when I don't want to cook at home. It's so nice to have a local restaurant serving healthy, organic, fresh food. Great flavor and range of different types of entrees. Highly recommend

Super delicious, good portion size- my mom didn't plan on eating but once the walnut loaf came out she changed her mind and we both left full and plenty of leftovers! Lovely space for a little mother- daughter time!

Delicious and hearty food. Lots of options to choose from! They also have fresh squeezed juices and detox teas. Loved the decor as well. There is seating inside and they do have an outside patio with heaters. It's right in Riviera village of Redondo so it's great to walk around the rest of the businesses after having a meal.

I would just love to say that this is the new favorite restaurant of my and I think my mom's too after our first time eating lunch here today finally after how many years it's been here my mom and I are going back to being vegetarian/vegan and the service Friendly a lot about the food that they are serving, which is very helpful the hostess and the server were just beyond helpful and will be coming back soon. I eat here at least twice a week. You cannot beat the fresh, healthy, delicious food. The owners are lovely people. The servers are just so kind. My favorite restaurant in LA!

Honestly.... What the fuck.. this was the most hipster place I've ever been to. Their food is "pre-made," boi what do you mean pre-made the food was just slug and slush, it was just goo. But, honesty it was like okay if you wanna feel "healthy" and you're doing something to fix your fucked up life but other than that, a McDonald's Big Mac would be better than this bullshit. Waiter was nice though, but still didn't tip because when my partner asked if they could remove the cheese (dairy allergy) he said no and that was it. He told us it was all pre-made and removing the cheese wouldn't be possible. After we ordered, we could hear the microwave opening and shutting and beeping whenever it was done cooking our food... knowing that our food was microwaved and pre-made for god knows how many months is astronomically criminal. Total bullshit. You don't come here for a nice fresh cooked meal, you come here for site-seeing hipsters.

Cute restaurant the outside patio area is relaxing. I had a very nice waitress Alexis she recommended I try the blue plate. Wow it was amazing I honestly want expecting it to taste so good because the pictures didn't do it Justice. I also ordered the radiance elixir shot which was like a hot sake shot without alcohol. For dessert I ordered the chocolate cafe cream pie. The presentation was beautiful and tasted even better than it looked. Chocolate Macadamia Nut Pie

I'm from out of town and this place was recommended by a local. Glad we stopped by! Sometimes when you seek out plant based options at restaurants they are not really "exciting", which sort of defeats the purpose of going out to eat. This place was great! The menu was interesting and had a good variety to choose from. Very friendly staff and service was fast. Would definitely recommend.

This place is amazing. The most delicious vegetarian spot. With enough choices to satisfy meat eaters who are trying a plant based change. The patio is very pretty. The service is good. The food is consistently delicious. Parking is just ok - so close to the beach that isn't a surprise.

I really enjoy dining at The Green Temple. The setting is delightful with outdoor dining in and around the courtyard fountain or next to the side by the off street parking where it gets ample sunlight. Enjoy delicious vegan/vegetarian options that can be ordered in full or half sizes and fresh squeezed juices while enjoying the fresh ocean air (it can get quite cold and breezy.) my go to would have to be their tofu steamers, I crave it every time I go but have never had a bad meal here. A definite must!

Puzzled today as to what and where I was going to have lunch today, and as I was walking around trying to figure that out I saw the Green Temple. I have to Say what a refreshing change from all of the offerings in the area. The server, Saskia, did an excellent job on explaining the vegan menu and deliver a high quality product. The presentation was excellent and more than I expected. The service was soot on too. It's a place you should try because it's different, healthy, delicious, and above board delivery of the product. I will be back.

Went by for lunch and was able to meet the owners who were super friendly as were their employees. I wanted to try everything but had the salad and split pea soup and it was great. The salad had beets which I've just started to enjoy and the herbal vinaigrette was a awesome. So refreshing the salad was. The soup was also very good and was able to add some Tapatio which I just enjoy extra heat. Anyway can't wait to go back being a new vegan this will be a go to for sure!

First visit to the Green Temple yesterday, a Saturday summer afternoon...It was not too busy, we had a reserved table outdoors. The food was delicious, a corn quesadilla and a 4 bowl veggie special. It is a cute and unique place with a natural and spa like vibe, a bit Moroccan.... Our server was lovely and friendly, as was the owner, who checked in on us a few times. The bathroom was spotless and I always appreciate free parking...the lot is tiny, so you might have to use the street parking, which seemed plentiful....All in all, a delightful experience. My only suggestion would be to install on line reservations. It makes it easier for the clients!

The best since I can remember in 2003! Top grade tofu and delicious sauces. Ask for extra sauce. Grateful NO DoGS!! (Yuk)

Wonderful early lunch here yesterday. My friend and I had the special, spinach enchiladas served with rice and black beans. The portions were generous so we took home leftovers! I loved my sparkling jasmine iced tea and my friend her carrot/orange/ginger drink. Peaceful courtyard dining with a friendly staff.

The food is always fresh and the ambiance is very zen. There is also a cute shop with all th great merchandise that themes around this restaurant and vibes. Great good food!

Usually I like this place but I had an awful experience and I won't be going back. I ordered over the phone from my car and I told her I was waiting in my car, RIGHT OUTSIDE THE FRONT DOOR. Although I told her I was waiting in my car, 45 minutes passed and my food didn't arrive. I got out of my car and checked and it had been sitting there. Inside the restaurant. Cold. Maybe they are struggling? We need more vegetarian restaurants in the South Bay. Unfortunately this one isn't an option anymore.
