"The Greene Oak’s modern bar has a pleasingly laid-back feel and the quirky horsebox tables on the terrace add something a little different. Menus use the best of the British larder and offer an appealing mix of dishes. The 45-day aged rare breed steaks are a speciality and the weekday lunch menu is a steal." - Michelin Inspector

Had a beautiful festive dinner at the Greene oak with my family, the staff were so amazing, lovely and attentive even though it was busy. The food was stunning. I had the mackerel starter which was incredible, and the beef short rib which was absolutely out of this world, the mash was smooth, creamy and rich and the beef was so tender it melted off the bone and onto the velvety mash. The potatoes are always unbeatable, perfectly crisp on the outside and tender on the inside, flavoured aromatically with herbs and seasonings. Thank you for a wonderful meal and experience!

Wow, what an amazing pub. Can't believe I've not been here before. We came for Sunday lunch and I think it's the nicest veggie roast dinner I've ever had. Ever though our table was booked for 6.30pm they still had everything in stock which isn't always the case. We had the best service with friendly and attentive staff who were so friendly. I had the nut roast which you rarely get these days. It came really quickly and was delicious. You can ask for extra roast potatoes ( which are amazing), cauliflower cheese and veg if you want. Everything was cooked perfectly and great portion sizes. Had icecream for dessert which was just as nice.

Beautiful garden with plenty of outdoor seating — such a lovely place to relax and enjoy a meal. The food was excellent — creative and thoughtful, delicious, and clearly made with care. It’s dog-friendly too — they even brought doggy biscuits, which was a sweet touch. The staff were warm and welcoming, making us feel right at home. Great experience!

Incredible place to have some food or in our case our wedding. Thanks so much to Andrea and the team who was working that day. I really appreciate everything you did for us. Thanks you

Popped in for a very random unplanned lunch and had the best pie I’ve ever had! We have visited Greene Oak on various occasions and it has never disappointed. Food and service were excellent! Look forward to coming back soon! Thank you

We came to the Greene Oak for a family get together between Christmas and new year. It’s a lovely old(ish) pub which is clean, well kept and characterful. There’s a nice outdoor space which I’m sure is great in the summer. The food was very nice and everyone said how good the food was. Between us we had the Burger, Risotto, Beef Short Rib, Hibity Pie and 2 kids dishes, all of which were great. We also had desert, and the only small let down was one of the honey combs was burnt. Really not a big deal. The service was efficient, timely and the ladies who served us were a pleasure to deal with. Nice people, not over friendly but not cold. Well done team great job we will back again I’m sure of it.

Love this pub in west Windsor it’s a must visit whether you’re a local wanting to try somewhere new or if you’re out of town searching for your next upscale pub meal. Service as always been great here, rarely had to wait for a table unless it’s peak time without a reservation. Staff are accommodating and always polite and friendly. I would say the menu could definitely have more variety more often. I try to go there less frequently as it doesn’t change that much. However their staple menu items like the day boat fish and chips and the cheeseburger are super tasty. There could be more veggie options. Overall a great place for a Sunday roast or a last minute al fresco dining rendezvous with friends or family. Definitely looking forward to the next time we dine there!

Yelp
Decent food, but amongst the worst service I have ever experienced in a restaurant - completely understaffed. Food good enough it's still worth visiting, so long as you have time on your hands and go before you're hungry.

Yelp
Great place, real cozy atmosphere, amazing food, great staff... The tall, skinny gent that usually tends the bar is very friendly, charismatic and helpful.. Unfortunately, last time I visited, someone else was at the bar (tall, not very friendly, accent...) and after requesting an Old Fashioned, was bluntly told "we don't do cocktails, I mean, I could do it, but it's Xmas and we're busy"... Including me and my fiancee, counted two other people sitting at the bar, waiting for our tables...a simple "I'm sorry, but we don't run a full bar so we don't make cocktails"would've landed much better.. Previous time I remember getting a gin tonic, which I could be wrong but it is a cocktail.. Again, great place, amazing food, awesome staff... Go visit and enjoy.. Maybe the gent behind the bar that night (again, not the usual bartender) is not a people person... I'll visit again and again.. Love the place...

Yelp
Regularly quoted as the best pub 'gastro' grub near windsor... so this sunday we thought it was time to check it out despite arriving somewhat late for sunday lunch (3pm)... it was rammed, but a quick drink at the bar and they seated us at our table. The atmosphere is quite 'Cath Kidson"... sort of sloany country style! Sunday lunch is £25 for 3 courses, the menu has 5 or 6 choices for each course, then there are a few specials each week on the black board. I went for soup of the day (pea), then cod in a delicious creamy sauce, and finally a pear and marscapone tart. My partner had the liver parfait, pork roast and baileys and chocolate profiteroles . My courses were all fantasic, and in just the right quantities to leve you full but not over stuffed. He wasnt too impressed by the pork- there just wasnt quite enough of it (but that may have been influenced by seeing the half chickens keep being taken past him on the way to the dinners who had chosen more sensibly than he!). However his dessert was a triumph!- he described it as the kind of pudding that is so good that each time you take a mouthful you are supprised as you have forgotten how god it really was! Great wine list, nice atmosphere, plenty of parking, imaginative food... its on my regulars list :)

Yelp
The Greene Oak is one of my favourite pubs near Windsor - great location, decor and ambience inside and out. Smart casual dress code. I've been here several times with friends so this review covers multiple trips. Food - excellent - good seasonal menu, ingredients, cooking and presentation. Thoroughly recommend the goats cheese starter and pork belly and Jacobs ladder mains. They also stock one of my favorite wines, Archaval Ferrer Malbec. Service - average. Always a warm welcome on arrival, and table service is generally prompt but lacks personality. This can make all the difference to a meal so its a shame. Ambience - when busy has a real buzz but in a relaxed country pub kind of way, otherwise good for a quiet dinner with good friends. Overall - you won't regret going here!

Yelp
Went here for a work colleague's leaving do and so I came with the expectation of your standard pub. So.wrong. A cozy beautiful atmosphere with excellent and attentive staff and amazing non standard cuisine. Jacob, the bartender, was very helpful with his wine suggestions and poured me a few to try before deciding. I ordered the goat cheese plate as an appetizer, had the salmon for my main, and the chocolate fondant with raspberry sorbet (to diiiiee for) for dessert. The chef definitely puts extra effort into these dishes. Will hopefully come back again!

Yelp
Was here this weekend for a birthday party. Over 30 of us & the pub was busy, but the service was brilliant & the staff were very friendly. The food was great & all arrived at the same time, very impressive for a big group. Can't wait to get back here.
