"The Grenville Hotel is an iconic beach resort with a restaurant that’s also equally admired. This impressive BYOB serves up succulent racks of lamb, chicken Napoleon, pan seared ahi tuna, and other comfort entrées that’s symbolic of the relaxing atmosphere of the area." - Ernest Owens

I attended a bridal shower here. The staff was very attentive and the food was great. It was a nice and smooth event, and it seemed like the bride had a great time. Very cute and pink! I would definitely recommend checking this place out. I'd like to come back in the warm weather and try the restaurant and maybe even stay here! Street parking, so give yourself plenty of time to park and walk there.

We attended the Valentine Day dinner night. The place itself was nice and had a live singer which was fun for the evening. However, that’s about the last nice thing to say about it. It was a special dinner menu for the night with only select options. Our waiter was not familiar with the options on the menu and told me “no can’t do that” when I chose what was on the menu. The staff, outside of hostess, looked sloppy and disheveled, not a great look. The salad was ok at best and served on a bread plate. We waited 30 minutes for our jumbo shrimp cocktail which was warm, not jumbo at all, and served with ketchup. We then waited another 45 minutes for our meal. Not one wait staff came to our table, refilled our water or even checked on us the entire time until we called the hostess over to explain we had been there an hour-and-half with no meal yet. She was pleasant, apologized, offered a gift certificate and told us our meal would be right out. Almost wish we had just left because my meal was awful. I ordered the seafood meal over linguine. It came in a soup bowl. The boiled water from the pasta served as the broth (disgusting). ZERO flavor, no salt, no garlic, nothing, just pasta water. My husbands NY strip was ok, mashed potatoes were grey which the waiter insisted were fresh (no way!) After 2 hours just wanted to leave. The hostess comped the meal because no one should have to suffer through that food experience and pay for it. They gave us freezer burned, store bought, key lime pie to go which tasted like sandpaper it was so freezer burned, garbage. All in all, horrible experience. Will not be returning ever. They need new wait staff, new kitchen staff and new chefs. Would give it 0 stars but one of the hostess in sequins seemed to really try (the other one should not host anything with her attitude). Disappointed is an understatement, food was horrible. Don’t waste your time.

We and many of our family members and friends stayed at the Grenville for our son's wedding and could not be happier. The friendly and gracious owners and staff were great. We also held a brunch at the Grenville restaurant on Sunday after the wedding for 100+ people and the food was outstanding. A big thank you to Maureen and Patti for everything!!

Google
Very comfortable mattress, slept great although no blackout curtains let the morning light in more than I’m used to. Beach badges are included! Great perk As are beach chairs, umbrellas and towels. We stayed on the 4th floor. The walls were pretty thin because we could hear the neighbors watching tv but we put on our white noise and I couldn’t hear it anymore. Everyone who worked there was really nice and helpful. Only downside to the stay was the elevator was out of order our last two days so we had to haul our luggage down 4 flights. Continental breakfast was more like a snack bar. I liked how they had free water and iced tea out in the lobby. Great location, walking distance to restaurants and one block from the beach, we could actually see the ocean from our room. Rooms are pretty tight so not much room if you are traveling with big suitcases. Overall we would stay here again! We really enjoyed the historic vibe of the building and its location!

Google
This was our 2nd time staying at the Grenville. Last year our stay was calm, quiet, relaxing, and wonderful! Unfortunately this year fell far short. When I made our reservation, I said that I was traveling with a 3 year old. After talking with a gentleman at the front desk, I chose a "bigger" king suite room to allow our grandson more space. I was not told our room was directly on top of the event space on the main floor. On our first night, the base from the music was so loud it made the beds move. We could actually hear loud conversations from party goers below us as the music blaired! My grandson finally fell asleep 2 hours after his bed time. Our 2nd night there was another event that "rocked" our room. I find it hard to believe this beautiful luxury hotel does not feel it is necessary to tell paying hotel guests that there will be loud music. When we checked out this morning, the gentleman at the front desk was engaged in a conversation with a couple. (They had been talking for quite a while as we walked by while making 3 trips carrying our things to the car). I excused myself as I placed our keys on the counter. The hotel employee (still chatting) made no comment nor acknowledged my presence until I said, "Thank you." Although the women at check in on Friday went out of their way to welcome us, our room placement was poor and not even close to the calm relaxing nights we spent at the Grenville last year. BEWARE of events at this hotel and tell them you do not want to be directly above the party room. I chose to write this after being ignored at check out this morning.

Google
We stayed at the Grenville for three nights and found the hotel clean with comfortable beds, great shower pressure, and a quality complementary breakfast. Having left my glasses behind, the staff found them and mailed them to my home. The personal effort of the Grenville is priceless! Thank you.

Google
Nice old hotel. We came off-season and found really bad breakfast between buckets of color and tools left from renovation. I guess this is better in the summer. Still - happy to have been there and the close beach is nice.

Google
Food is awful. Sunday Brunch is a joke. We were literally the only people in the restaurant. Now we know why. Be warned. Do not go. And do not believe these other “good reviews”. They must be either paid for or posted by friends/family/staff!!!

Yelp
This hotel looks lovely -- it has a large wraparound porch in front and is close to the beach. This review is for the restaurant. My party attended for the first time and were seated outside on the porch. It was a great night to be outdoors and the entertainment by Bobby Knee was terrific. He played tunes by Billy Joel, James Taylor and Louis Armstrong, to name a few. This is a byob which is always plus. The service was a bit slow. We waited quite a while for our dinner. I didn't mind but others in my party noticed. The bread plate was nice and warm. The shrimp appetizer was tasty. Our dinners came with mixed reviews. Two of us had the mahi mahi and it was just ok. A bit dry and flavorless. Two had the lamb and enjoyed. And another had the sea bass and enjoyed. There is no dedicated parking for the hotel so allow time to find a space.

Yelp
Food was delicious. Staff was efficient and pleasant. This is Christmas time. We went for 10 am brunch. Building is way too cold to enjoy my meal. There was a party of 30 and a baby shower. This place seems like it is only good for parties this time of year.

Yelp
Love it! From the engaging personalities of staff to the warm hospitality to the delicious food, we've added this beautiful property to our list of FAVES down at the Jersey Shore. Every time we visit, we've noticed enhanced improvements to the interior as well as all the floral plantings near huge veranda that make this place so charming and welcoming. And always appreciate the history of the building and proximity to the beach. Each visit is enjoyable and memorable especially during the summer. From the beach chairs, umbrellas, complimentary beach passes to the cold water dispenser inside the front door, the management treats us like family. Even our delightful dining experience proved special with the perfectly cooked prime rib special and the fresh shrimp over sautéed spinach in an awesome Greek lemon/feta sauce. Absolutely delicious. Fresh salads. On pointe service.

Yelp
Love love love!!!!! An amazing bed and breakfast in the heart of Bay Head! I love the Grenville! Very charming and elegant but super comfortable . This is a wonderful place to stay in Bay Head all year round for a getaway. It is one block from the beach so everything you need is right at the hotel or at the beach. The shops are three blocks away. The Grenville has a lovely porch to sit out and dine as well. Many times I walk by with my dogs and hear live music playing. Just a really nice classy place. I am local and come weekly for Sunday brunch. The food is excellent- well cooked and just enough. I really enjoy the breakfast/brunch on Sundays because of the delicious omelettes and Eggs Benedict . The brunch buffet has applewood bacon that is beyond delicious! There are other non breakfast items as well like pasta, fish and chicken. In warmer weather I like to sit outside and enjoy the sun and brunch on the deck. There seems to be weddings, showers, and parties all the time! I think that speaks to the exceptional food and service. I really love the service and overall kindness of the lovely staff. They all go out of their way to make your comfortable. The owners are there daily to greet you. Honestly it is really friendly and welcoming. It feels like a neighborhood place! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND coming for brunch at the very least. It is definitely worth it!!!

Kim K.

Yelp
I hosted my daughter in law's baby shower at the Grenville and it exceeded all our dreams. The entire staff goes out of their way to accommodate every guest. We choose the brunch buffet and the food was absolutely delicious. All our guests kept going on and on about how much they were enjoying themselves. The dining room is beautiful and we had so much fun decorating it with our theme. I highly recommend The Grenville for an event of any kind. You won't be disappointed. We will definitely be back.

Yelp
It was the perfect choice for us to get married at the Grenville. I spent most childhood summers at the Jersey Shore, and my husband even proposed to me on this beach at sunrise. Our 50-guest wedding was scheduled over three days: rehearsal dinner Friday night, wedding Saturday, and farewell brunch Sunday morning. Everything except the rehearsal dinner took place at the Grenville. Every hotel room was occupied with our guests, so the whole weekend felt like one big sleepover! Maureen, Harry, and Patti from the Grenville really came to feel like family throughout this process. Maureen and I were in regular communication about plans and details, and she was incredibly lovely and easy to work with. For food, We loved their h'or d'oeuvres during cocktail hour. During the reception dinner, the banquet tables were set up horseshoe-style, so it was like one big family dinner. The Grenville provides an amazing menu as part of their wedding package. We had two tastings in the months leading up the wedding, to finalize our menu. We had a fabulous time working with the owner and head chef Harry, to finalize our menu that included one meat option (Chicken Francaise with Whipped Potatoes & Mixed Vegetables), one vegetarian option (Fusilli alla Vodka with Spinach, Asparagus, & Zucchini), and one vegan option (Impossible Beef Wellington with Roast Potatoes & Mixed Vegetables). For much of our reception, our guests were so happy sitting on the veranda enjoying the rain. People were cozied up in blankets around the fire pit, and having long relaxed conversations with each other. My husband and I found ourselves thinking how lucky we were to be married in such a lovely place.

Yelp
I went here a few weeks ago for a bridal shower. Easy to find as it was is an old Victorian pink home. No parking lot, but plenty of street parking, at least in the spring time. I could see it being problematic in the summer. Food was served buffet style and pretty delicious. The dining room was large enough for a few dozen tables and at the front of the room was a chair and fireplace for a cozy ambiance. Staff was nice and friendly. I wouldn't mind returning if I were in the area. The location is right by the beach, though on a busy road. I imagine it would be crazy during the summer!

Nora B.

Yelp
We came here for a celebration of life in October so we were some of the only people in the restaurant. Food was good and the staff were very nice with the kids we had. It was very cute inside. It was raining so it was hard to spend time outside but they had a nice little fenced in lawn/patio. There was also only street parking which would be SO hard in the summer time.

Yelp
Wonderful stay at the Grenville. Owners were so welcoming. Food and service were great. Room was beautiful. And we really enjoyed the continental breakfast too - can't wait to return. And the location so close to the beach made for a great fun

Yelp
The last of the grand hotels of Bay Head: The Grenville. A pink Victorian that's over 100 years old and family run. Yes, it's tired, shopworn, and lacking modern amenities...however it's not why you choose to stay here....The Grenville is just one block from the beach. Beach chairs, umbrellas and beach towels along with beach badges are all provided free of charge. And the beach is absolutely beautiful with the cleanest, whitest, and most powdery sand on the East Coast. Wake up in one of the small, reasonably priced rooms, enjoy the free continental breakfast, then hit the beach. When the day is done, come back have a shower, then head out for happy hour at Charlie's a block away then go out to eat. It's all pretty easy, and a convenient way to spend a day or weekend. It's old-time Bay Head here, reminiscent of The Bluffs: beach house shabby, salty and relaxed.

Yelp
My son and his wife were recently married at the Mantoloking Yacht Club. Several months ago, my wife and I searched for a place nearby where we could not only stay for a few nights, but where we could also host the wedding rehearsal dinner. We were fortunate to find the Grenville Hotel in Bay Head and are so glad we chose them. Maureen, Patti and their entire staff could not have been more welcoming and accommodating. The booking and menu selection processes were easy and straightforward and the rehearsal dinner (for a total of 42 people!) came off without a hitch. The food and service were excellent, and we received many compliments from our guests. Lisa, Gerri - and all the others taking care of us - were helpful, friendly and professional. They were even able to accommodate our Welcome Party afterwards for all the invited guests. We were outside on their spacious veranda on a beautiful night, and it could not have gone any better. As we were checking out and getting ready to leave on Sunday morning, Patti said it almost felt like we were family. That's exactly how we felt, and we highly recommend the Grenville Hotel.

Yelp
I had a lovely stay here this week Perfect location Amazing family owned business Husband and wife working together to make sure your happy and have everything you need You can have drinks and food on the deck The room was clean I can't wait to go back This is a hotel room visit post

Yelp
I had the pleasure of attending a baby shower here last weekend. The event was held on the wrap around porch outside. While the venue was charming, and beautiful. The service and food was just okay. Guests of the event had a choice of ceasar or grenville salad. I choose the grenville, and it was good! Everyone was then served some pasta, which honestly was just okay. Different items were offered as the lunch entree, mediterranean pasta, chicken francise, or sea bass. I ordered the sea bass, and honestly I think it was tilapia. Near the end of the event the waitress didn't give me a slice of cake, as they miscounted. So, I got up to ask for one, and she seemed 'annoyed'. Honestly, I wasn't even that annoyed I was more annoyed by her reaction. Overall, I had a great time, and would even consider staying here over night. They just need to work on their food, and service. I understand it can be difficult to find good help in these times!

Yelp
What a grand century hotel! IT is impressive to see and I love the pink of the entire building. The history of it is pretty impressive too! I would have liked to see more of an original interior. Staff were AMAZING. Super friendly ! Maureen was a DOLL to talk with. She talked to you like she already knew you. You can tell she love what she does. Checking in was easy, parking not a problem. So close to the beach, which is the real draw to this place. A very short stroll to the ocean. It is right out your back door practically. Outdoor area for showering off, massive front porch for enjoying any time of the day or night. Rooms were clean and beds and pillows very comfortable. Iron and hairdryers in the room as well as a mini fridge WITH the freezer. Nice TV in our room. Linens were lovely and towels thick and bright white as they should be. Prices on their merch were more than fair and I would have purchased, but they didn't have any larger sizes available at that time. Things that were disappointing: the lobby. They need serious instruction on the lobby. It is bland and doesn't say 'welcome'. It doesn't say "Grand old century lady". It is very plain and looks thrown together. There isn't one single Keurig in the lobby. Or anywhere. They need one in the lobby with different pods for every taste. Teas, coffees, hot chocolates, etc. . I had to wait to drive somewhere each morning and evening for a dark roast coffee. For the money paid for our stay, we expected that. It is a simple thing that could and should be implemented for guests. The 'continental breakfast' wasn't much of one. It has a couple fresh fruits, some cereal/milk, plain bagels and mini muffins. I expected pastries, scones, yogurts with fresh fruits, maybe a waffle station etc. It was very disappointing. It would have been nice to have a better selection to serve different tastes and diets. We didn't dine there as the prices listed on a card in the elevator for breakfast scared us. Many people SMOKE. We are not the scourge of humanity. Please offer up a small section of the massive porch for us smokers. We want nothing more than to enjoy a lovely cup of coffee and have a smoke and enjoy the scenery. We don't want t be banished to stand in a driveway or on a sidewalk. Having said all that, I would go and stay again if they could improve on a few things or I bring my own coffee maker. Again, super friendly staff willing to make you happy. Get you some Don Featherstone Flamingo's for the front! By all means, NOT a terrible place! Keep it going guys, you are almost there!

Yelp
We stayed 1 night, midweek in September. Check-in was simple & employees pleasant. Room 406 was clean but small, no central air, but kind of noisy window a/c. Very comfy bed & soft sheets, could use a few more pillows on the king bed. It was very nice hanging on the large porch in their rocking chairs at night. Told owner (man) our in-room coffee maker wasn't working but he didn't seem to care, he wasn't as friendly as other employees. Delicious coffee & muffins, bagels, yogurt, hard boiled eggs & cereal in the morning in the lobby. Short walk to the beach. Also, this is a dog-friendly hotel (more like a bed/breakfast really). Tripped a power switch when drying my hair. Overall, we enjoyed our stay fir 1 night.

Peter B.

Yelp
Patty and her staff were great!!! We stayed over night 1/31 to 2/1. Our room was on the 4th floor in the turret. Nice Room very quaint! Continental breakfast, and a nice room with great people can't ask for more! Old shore charm

Yelp
I visited with my family yesterday for Easter brunch. The hostess team was an absolute treat and beyond grateful for every guest that walked through the door. I know this is their first Easter that they couldn't do their true buffet, but it was incredibly disappointing. All of the food was cold, we were very clear that a member of our party did not eat meat and all of the meat came on the same plate, every single time. Our server told us 3 or 4 times that he "forgot" when we asked for something. He was a young kid so we cut him some slack, but the gentleman refilling the water was more attentive. The worst part? The "shrimp cocktail" was frozen ring shrimp. We live at the beach, the ocean is right behind your building. There is no excuse for that. All in all, we made the most of the people around us, but we will not be returning.

Yelp
Had a great Mother's Day Brunch with family. Celebrated our daughter's first Mother's Day with 4 couples

Jacqui M.

Yelp
On January 16, we had the great misfortune of dining at the Grenville. We were a party of 7. There were three other tables with parties of two in the dining room. The waiter was clearly disinterested in our table. We had to flag him down to request drinks and anything else. One person ordered a drink and he was off without inquiring whether anyone else would like something. We did. When our drinks arrived, they were 3/4 full. Our water glasses were not refilled until we asked, considering 3 of us were only drinking water, it might have been nice. The appetizers were good. Calamari and artichokes francaise. Then dinner arrived. Two of us ordered the ribeye. One was large, and one was small...not even close in size, but priced the same??? Three of us ordered Artichoke encrusted Sea Bass. They need to look up the definition of encrusted. There was an unpleasant grey paste plopped on top of the Sea Bass, which was barely cooked. The spinach was done to perfection, but the pistachio encrusted potatoes were confusing with some small chopped pistachios in the middle of the potatoes and some larger pieces scattered on the plate. We also order a seafood combination, the name of which I cannot remember. The shrimp and scallops were on the edge of raw, and the "sauce" was not pleasant. We also ordered a Mediterranean chicken which was passable in taste but looked like a brown blob on the plate. I observed the waiter pull out a chair at an empty table, put his foot on the chair and tie his shoe. Inappropriate in my opinion. No. We did not complain, as it seemed fruitless. Yes, I left the waiter an 20% tip on a hefty bill. Will we go back? That would be a very certain NO.

Donna C.

Yelp
Giving it a 2 star is being very generous. In its heyday it was good but now it has really gone downhill. The service was good, a darling girl waited on us... But the food was tasteless, shrimp under cooked and pork chop dry...sorry we won't be back!!!

Briana S.

Yelp
BEWARE!! I stayed here once and wanted to stay again. I booked a reservation about 2 months in advance, and then they reached out to me on SOCIAL MEDIA 3 DAYS BEFORE THE BOOKING to tell me my reservation was terminated because of their poor management, staffing and issues on their end. So, then I called and Maureen again responded through social media. I've never dealt with something like this in my life. It was so unprofessional, inconsiderate and rude. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

Jacquelyn G.

Yelp
This place was PERFECT. We went for my partner's birthday mid September. It was quiet so the staff was very attentive. It is also BYOB so we brought along a bottle of wine which was kindly poured for us by our server. We had an appetizer of lobster bisque and blackened tuna bites. I had the salmon over seafood risotto which was 10/10. My partner got the sea bass. We were too stuffed for dessert but definitely will be back ASAP. amazing location and staff. Thank you!!

Sierra P.

Yelp
we had our rehearsal dinner at the grenville hotel on may 18th and it was absolutely amazing !! the rehearsal dinner was originally planned for another location and our caterer canceled on us at the last minute. the grenville was able to pull together a beautiful event for us in 72 hours, they used my napkins i had provided with no problem, were extremely accommodating with a fluctuating guest list, arranged our beer and wine (it is BYOB) so elegantly , servers were friendly and patient , and on top of all that i found it very reasonable for what we were offered and quality of the food. maureen & patti we're so professional and great to work with. i wish i had planned it at the grenville to begin with.

Diane M.

Yelp
Stayed here overnight this past Sunday into Monday. Unfortunately we weren't here for pleasure but needed a room for a funeral we were attending, and although it was a sad occasion the stay here was lovely. The place is so quaint, everyone is super accommodating and friendly.. the beach is a block away right behind the hotel, we were able to get up super early and take a nice walk on the beach before they set up breakfast which was included and very nice. We hope to be back here in the near future, under better circumstances of course. - Oh and our 5 yr old grandson Mason says "those were the most "goodest" chicken fingers I've ever had!"

J C.

Yelp
Older property. Small rooms, noisy inside (includes yapping dogs... Pet friendly). Pleasant but, disengaged staff. Spotty or no room cleanup despite hanging MAKE UP Room sign as instructed. Close to beach. On street parking if available... may have to shlep to find a space. Covid friendly window air conditioner does not remove humidity. MASKS required. Greatly overpriced... Taking advantage of close-in travel? (good for them)

Gerard L.

Yelp
Be warned, Mother's Day brunch big disappointment, oj and coffee not included? They don't tell you till you get the bill, as well as they add the tip, coffee cold, food is average, billing with cc system is antiquated, this place needs some serious updating, not worth the $..

David C.

Yelp
If you want a hotel like every other, then this is not the place. If you want a wonderful stay in a historic icon that feels more like a boutique B&B, then THIS is the place! Great staff! Great location (a block from the beach)! Located in the beautiful town of Bay Head, it is really close to restaurants and the Point Pleasant boardwalk. I would recommend the Grenville to anyone wanting a pleasant and memorable stay on the Jersey Shore.

Doris R.

Yelp
It was an amazing 4 days, so sad to be leaving tomorrow..great staff & hospitality..pet friendly so we were able to bring our baby German Shepard with us & they were very accommodating with the rooms..the food is very tasty & I loved their quinoa salad today..scrumptious!! The bay head beach was beautiful & the hotel provides chairs, towels & beach pass!! An amazing stay!! Thanks

PJ B.

Yelp
This was the worst place I have ever stayed overall. The staff barely acknowledged our existence. The rooms were small and all the bedding was old and thread thin. The mattress in our room must have been over 30 years old - so uncomfortable I could not sleep! Oh yea, through the paper thin walls we could hear dogs barking all night. There was no phone in the room so if you wanted to contact management you had to go to the front. The tv remote didn't work desk. The hot and cold taps were marked wrongly. I could go on and on but don't want to waste my time other than to say STAY AWAY from this place!

Les C.

Yelp
Went to dinner here on Saturday before Christmas. Restaurant was nearly empty at 6PM. No different at 7. Had crab cakes and blackened rib eye. Ala carte menu makes this a very expensive evening. Menu somewhat limited, but did have something for nearly all. The crab cakes were very good and very filling. My wife took one home. The rib eye was also excellent. Service was great. Desert menu also a little limited and the ice cream was full of ice. Coffee was good. This is not a place I will go to often, especially in summer. But, I will go back!

Denise D.

Yelp
Sunday brunch was maybe a One star. Food was cold. Waffles were soggy ! Coffee was served in a tiny espresso cup. So we had to ask for refills about 6 times ! Service was lacking. It' is a pretty place but the food is more than terrible ! DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE AT ALL! Don't waste ur money or time !

Yelp
If you are contemplating using this place for any type of event make sure you cross your t's and dot your i's the management in this place is all over the place and no one takes responsibility for misinformation provided to customers. I had an issue with an Event total head count being less than the amount originally put on a contract to use the entire entertainment room so I discussed with the management staff about using a room divider which is what the place does for smaller events and was told that I would get the entire room either way because they had no other event planned for that day therefore giving me the impression that it was ok that my head count was less than originally discussed and they were ok with that with no further requirement or explanation...long story short at the end of my event I was handed a bill for 50 people vs. the 36 that they cooked for. After numerous e-mails and phone calls the not so understanding manager ignored and avoided taking responsibility for her poor management and poorly trained staff that totally mislead, misinformed and in my opinion bamboozled me into paying for 14 additional people that weren't there. The manager was aware and informed of exactly what transpired even agreed that there had been misinformation provided to me and totally ignored to address or remedy the issue and finally replying to my last e-mail only to basically tell me she did not get back to me because there was nothing to discuss!! KEEP IN MIND THAT AFTER MY FIRST CALL WITH THE MANAGER SHE TOLD ME SHE WAS GOING TO CALL ME BACK IN A FEW DAYS AFTER SPEAKING TO HER STAFF. BIG MISTAKE TO DEAL WITH A POORLY MANAGED MEDIOCRE PLACE.

Kat C.

Yelp
Went here with a Groupon. It took about 15-20 minutes just to get wine glasses. The bread came and was a throw back to college days with pop and bake rolls, these were good but the butter tasted like freezer burn; both tries. The appetizers weren't awful. We had scallops, crab salad and beet salad. By far the best was the beet salad. These foods were just okay, definitely not okay for price. The entrees were disgusting. My table had chicken, pork, steak and salmon. If the 4 the chicken was best with its globs of cheese and rubbery taste. The salmon tasted microwaved and was cold. The pork was over cooked to the point of being a weapon with canned peach chutney that was generously applied, most likely to add flavor to the flavorless meat. The steak was of poor quality and had no flavor. All of the accompanying sides were cold and had clearly been sitting around. Despite living 4 minutes away from this restaurant we will never return. We had heard from others that the brunch is better but frankly with the experience we had for dinner I wouldn't waste my time trying out the brunch. All we kept saying during dinner was that we felt we were on an episode of Hell's Kitchen. It's sad that this was the worst dining experience I've ever had, we had hoped to find a great local restaurant.

Yelp
Excellent food with fantastic service! The crab & avocado tower app was perfectly executed. The calamari was light & crispy. The seabass was huge and also beautifully prepared. Rick was very attentive to our needs. Can't wait to come back

Stayed 2 nights. Had meals out, but loved the hotel. Only problem was the terribly uncomfortable king size bed. My wife was literally 6inches lower than me on the other side of the bed. Having a bad back would force me to reconsider staying again because of the old mattress. Sounds petty, but very uncomfortable bed.

Yelp
It needs help. Better yet new management. The decor is horrific. The place needs to be maintained better and updated. The food for the prices could have been much better. Looks very tired.

Yelp
Hotel Hell needs to come here, and quick! You aren't supposed to judge a book by its cover, but the building is an ugly pink and blue on the outside. When you go in, it's hideous on the inside. Nothing has ever been updated it looks, and there's signs saying don't forget to smile. There is also extension cords scattered throughout the main floor, along with lots of dirt and dust. When we went there to eat, there was no one at the hostess desk for the restaurant, and we were seated by the hotel desk worker. Once seated, it took a very long time for our waiter to even come over. When he finally did he says "are you ready to order?" We say yes, and he walked away and took another table's order. Please keep in mind, there was only about 4 tables being served at that time. He came over and we ordered. 30 minutes later, he came back and said there was a computer error, and our food was taking long. I then went and asked if we could at least get our salads, 15 minutes later they came. Over an hour after we got there we still were waiting for our food. I asked to speak to the owner or manager, and they couldn't be bothered. I told the waiter if it would be more than 5 minutes cancel it, he was again rude and said it was coming out. We gave them the benefit of the doubt and let the food come out. 3 of the 6 dishes came out. The pasta dish I ordered was overcooked, and the garlic taste was unbearable. The pasta dish was a different pasta than listed on the menu. However, the final straw was when we found HAIR in the dish (keep in mind the other food still didn't come out). I personally got up, brought the hair dish to the front desk and showed them. Still no owner or manager could be bothered. I told them to cancel the rest of the food, and we left. Pros: nothing Cons: EVERYTHING FINAL WARNING,DO NOT COME HERE!!!!!!!

Yelp
Just left Easter Brunch....the food presentation was awful and the 4th plate (as they labeled it) could not be eaten, tasted like it was cardboard. The desert "platter" was a joke. On a positive note the wait staff appeared to be doing their best.

Yelp
We had my daughter's Covid delayed bridal shower at the Grenville this past weekend. They were gracious and accommodating when we had to reschedule and offered to refund the deposit if we needed to cancel, which we didn't. The venue is lovely, the staff very friendly, helpful and professional. The food was great and it was just a lovely day. So happy we had our event there!

Yelp
#1 you need to sit outside on a nice nite to dine. #2 bring a nice bottle or 2 or 3 of vino or spirits The rest will be ok. The food was good service was good......but this place could use a little updating/ambiance.......it is lacking ambiance......don't walk inside and stay outside and dine in the porch......otherwise not much to say.

Yelp
This review is for the hotel, not the restaurant. I don't know why the hotel attracted such poor reviews on Yelp. It's a family-run century-old business! It's clean, comfortable, and quaint. It's a few feet from the beach, and the hotel provides beach passes and beach chairs. It's quiet and relaxing. Highly recommended it.

Yelp
Cute, quaint, hotel and restaurant. Good service, byob, AMAZING fusilli a la vodka. Would come back again just for that dish. Big salad portions. Will come back for salad and pasta.

Yelp
This hotel and restaurant is our new go-to place when we escape to the beach. It is so clean, close to the beach and the people that work there are top-notch!

Yelp
My family and I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights while down in Point Pleasant. We sort of ended up there on accident because I waited until the last minute to try and find a place to stay and I was literally calling various places while we ate dinner at 7:00pm. fortunately these guys had a cancellation so we booked the room and it was a room with two double beds. At first I thought it would be too small as it was my wife and I and our two kids (5 & 1) but it turned out to be a great experience as the staff was awesome and accommodating. We ended up booking it the second day as well. We switched rooms the second night because the only available room was across the hall from where we originally stayed the prior night but it worked out well because my son loves staying in different places so he got a kick out of it being a different room. Its an old Victorian house, remodeled to be a hotel so the rooms have a Victorian feel to them. They aren't the biggest rooms, but they are clean, comfortable and did the job. The breakfast is decent and the Sunday brunch is superb!! My one son has a nut allergy so the staff went out of their way to make sure they had something without uts for him for breakfast. That should speak to the level of service they provided us. This place definitely helped make our weekend a great one. It's about a mile or so away from the Boardwalk. Parking for the hotel is a bit of a pain as it's street parking but that's part for the course in the Beach Towns down on the shore. Overall, I would suggest this place for anyone looking for somewhere to stay in Point Pleasant.

Yelp
Just had Thanksgiving dinner there, and I can't recall a worse dining experience. The entry way was a cluttered, cheaply furnished mess, what I'd expect from some no-star highway trucker motel. The hostess was disorganized and unwelcoming. When we arrived for our 5:00 reservation, the buffet was decimated and trashed. Much of the food - basics, like turkey and sweet potatoes - were empty. Some were eventually refilled, some (sweet potatoes) never were. The buffet area was covered in spilled remnants of the day's service. There was a line of people simply waiting for plates. The desert station, with a chocolate fountain and a scattering of apple pie slices, looked like a pack of grade schoolers had been allowed to run amok upon it for hours. My heart went out to the poor guy working the carving station, giving up his Thanksgiving to spend the afternoon and evening apologizing to customers for the lack of food. This is for a buffet requiring reservations - they knew exactly how many covers there were for the service, and when they would arrive. Inexcusable. This is a difficult review to write because the Grenville is a special place with great history. But it needs new owners who will make the necessary investment and effort to bring it back to something resembling what it was and what it's location deserves.

Yelp
I had my sons baptism reception here, and I am giving two stars because the food was good. Everything else was a disappointment. When we booked the room we were greeted by a heavy set man who we basically had to pry away from his precious chair at the front desk so that he could give us a tour of the room. He told us the prices ( 28.99 for adults, and $19.99 for kids buffet) . We asked what was in the kids buffet and he told us chicken fingers, fries, pasta ect. We booked the room because it was close to the church, BYOB, and can fit 100 people. Fast forward to our event and during the buffet those options for the kids were no where to be found. Than the one women told us we didn't mention we wanted those options when the man clearly stated it was included. One of the waitress said " we don't have chicken fingers', 2 minutes later another waitress says " we have them in the oven for you it will take 10 minutes". So which is it? Did you have them or did you have to go kill some chickens for it to happen? Get on the same page ladies. What boggles my mind is that I had to pay $19.99 for a 3 year old to eat and all the options they had a 3 year old would never eat except for the pasta. So if you want to pay 20 dollars for a kid to eat 3 spoons of pasta than go for it. We had to reach out to them time and time again to go over details, they not once called us. I would never recommend this place to anyone.

Yelp
Wow, what has happened to the Grenville!? My mother was delighted to have a reservation here for Mother's Day brunch, but the reality did not live up to expectations! They've "redecorated" the whole place, ie, painted it white, no more old world charm left. Then there's the food... Hmmmm.. where to begin.... We had a covid style brunch, delivered on plates, which was a fine idea, but the food was terrible! Dry, overcooked meats, a half of a slice of stuffed French toast to share?... For over $40 per meal? 2 dinky frozen breakfast sausages, the shrimp were smallish to medium, UNDERCOOKED, and shabby looking. The pasta barley had any sauce, it was literally dry!, the eggplant rollatini was the size of a ravioli, and then came dessert! ... Oye! 2 one inch squares of brownie, ONE one inch square of cheesecake ( how are we supposed to share that covid-style?) and a small , well we still don't know what it was, tasted like a hint of cannoli cream in Cool Whip with a single, sad, lonely blueberry on top in a small handle held size crust (again, how do we share that?)... Oh, and they must have been conserving coffee, as they serve it in a 6ounce cup and then only refill your cup halfway ( honestly, the sups are nearly cappuccino sized!).. Not pleased at all. We used to Love this place, but I doubt I'd go back again and spend my eating out time and dollars here, Just so sadly NOT worth it!
